Re: GameSeek States It'll Keep Selling Nintendo Switch for £198.50 Up to Release

ThomGee

Oh yeah, I forgot about GameSeek's low pre-order cost. It seems like such a long time ago when we were in the dark about the Switch. I remember @therealgamer claims about how he was a real game dev and that the Switch would be $199 and out of March 17th. Heh, good times.

Glad to see they're fulfilling the pre-order cost though, not many stores would do that.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2 Lead Switch Reveal Trailer Views

ThomGee

@impurekind First of all, making a game takes time and planning. It's not like you can predict exactly when your system and a game will be ready and hold one back or rush one of them to package the game with the system. Second, not everyone likes 3D Mario. Many do, but not everyone, and they may feel alienated having to pay more for a game they do not want. Speaking of that, the price could not stay at $300 if packaged with the game. It would go up to at least $350, which would make people cry "It's too expensive!"

So don't rant about this. You should be thankful we're getting an open-world Mario at all. We could've had 3D World 2.

Re: It's Nintendo Switch Petition Time, With Miiverse on the Agenda

ThomGee

Really? Miiverse was not that good in the slightest, and this is coming from someone with over 950 posts on there. It was especially bad if you were there to see the slow deterioration of the off-topic communities. Plus, when has an online petition ever worked, in the history of the Internet?

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Switch Plan is Starting to Take Shape

ThomGee

Ah, this reminds me of the presidential election. Two sides viciously fighting each other when really, neither side will change the other's opinion in the slightest.

@Yorumi Your opinion is well grounded for the most part, but you are coming off a bit aggressive. Lighten up.

But, yeah, I'm still hyped for the Switch, and it seems others are too. My local GameStop, which is in a very isolated spot, is out of pre-orders, so evidently someone wants the Switch. The battery life is fine, 2.5-6 hours being more than I ever expected. The paid online is acceptable, I won't get it and will be fine without it if Splatoon 2 has CPU battles. The specs look great, and overall the console looks better than the Wii U ever could be.

This is a lot of debate over such an inconsequential thing as a video game console.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Nintendo Switch Presentation?

ThomGee

I gotta say, I really loved it. In fact, the only things I didn't like were 1, 2, Switch and the paid online, but I can get over those. Arms looks pretty cool, Xenoblade is really great, FIFA is something I can shut up my friends with, Mario Odyssey looks incredible, Splatoon 2 looks nice, but they should've called it Spla2n, and Breath of the Wild is just....breathtaking (pun intended)

The Switch looks incredible, I'll probably preorder it, and I'm definitely getting it Day 1.

Re: More Nintendo Switch Rumours Emerge Online

ThomGee

I don't get why some of you guys in the comments get so worked up over rumors like these. It seems that you either believe everything these people say or you completely disagree. There's no middle ground, but there should be. If you don't believe them, just wait for official information and ignore these articles, or politely state your opinion without getting so hostile. On the other hand, if you believe them, you can still just say your opinion nicely, but don't preach their leaks like they are confirmed facts.

I really don't care about rumors anymore, but people here get so worked up about them that I just wanted to rant. These seem true, at least, but they are admittedly pretty safe rumors.

And yes, I went on this verbose rant while my profile picture is of Pikachu licking ketchup. (Pokémon) Go figure.

Re: The First Pokémon Sun and Moon 'Global Mission' Was a Bit of a Flop

ThomGee

Yeah, I just registered for the Global Link a couple days ago, and it was really a hassle. It was obvious that this would fail.

Speaking of online in Sun and Moon, why did Game Freak take away the PSS?! That was an amazing addition to Pokemon and streamlined online so much. Now it shares space with a Join Avenue successor, when they easily could have been separate. That, in my opinion, is one of the biggest flaws of Sun and Moon.

Re: Gen II Roll-Out Begins in Pokémon GO

ThomGee

Of course someone has already mocked Mr. "Gen 1 baby!". :^)

Oh, whatever. This is pretty cool, I guess. I like how they're going slow with the rollout of Gen 2. It'll prevent the servers from being overloaded. I imagine that they'll put all of the unevolved Gen 2 Pokemon into eggs, then into the wild, then put all the evolved Pokemon into the wild.

Re: Nintendo on the Naming of the Nintendo Switch

ThomGee

Man, the Nintendo Wii 3 is looking good!

Nah, just kidding. I really like the Switch's name, and I'm so happy that Nintendo stopped the Wii branding. Makes it seem like they're not banking on the Wii's success, because face it, that's not happening again. I'm really excited for the Switch.

And yes, that "click" sound from the trailer is the stuff of dreams.

Re: Global Roll-Out of Pokémon GO's Nearby Feature Gets Closer as Niantic Plans a Long Run

ThomGee

@Link506 I don't get what you mean by "removing core features". To my knowledge, they've only removed the tracking system, which was already broken, to put in an improved one, and playing at high speeds (in a car, bus, train, etc), which they never wanted players to do in the first place.
And yes, a lot of it is just noise. It's websites that write Pokemon Go stories for clicks grabbing at straws by mentioning it as much as possible.

Re: Editorial: The Wii U Has Been Nintendo's Lowest Selling Home Console; It Deserved Better

ThomGee

I love the Wii U very dearly, but I have to say that Nintendo got what it deserved when it comes to the Wii U. The lack of third parties or advertising, the name, the (sometimes) lackluster first party games, and the entire fact that the console seems to depend on the Wii for it's success all led to its demise. Even the main point of the console seems half baked, as the GamePad cannot go that far from the console. I don't even think that the console will be vindicated by history. It was just a badly executed product, and while I don't regret my purchase, I hope the Switch will fare better in the console market.

Re: Budget New Nintendo 3DS Models Announced for North America

ThomGee

This might actually tempt me to buy a new New 3DS. My current one recently fell down a flight of stairs and now the R-button is broken, which is really annoying, but I was unsure about investing in a new one with the Switch on the horizon. (It didn't break anything else though. I swear Nintendo makes their consoles out of titanium or something)

Re: Gallery: Pokémon Sun and Moon's Fully Evolved Starters, Classic Battle Opponents, New Pokémon and More

ThomGee

These designs look really awesome! This probably the first generation where I'm torn between all three starters. I'm probably going to pick Rowlet though, because Ghost/Grass is a cool type combo.
I'm surprised more people aren't mentioning the Battle Tree. It seems like a really interesting idea.
As for the Guardians and Cosmog, meh, they're alright.
Overall these games look to be the biggest Pokemon games yet, and I can't even contain my hype.

Re: Data Miners Find More New Monsters In Pokémon Sun And Moon Demo

ThomGee

Rowlet's final evolution looks kind of strange. I don't really like it. The other two are okay I guess. I'm betting on the trio being Fire/Fighting, Water/Fairy, and Grass/Flying, though I'm still hoping for two different final evolutions for them.
The new Alola forms look cool, but I'm really worried that they will only be for Gen 1 Pokémon, which in my opinion is a big waste.
I don't even know what to think about the new Ultra Beasts.
