Ever since Nintendo unveiled the Switch retailers have been putting up product pages, though in most cases, sensibly, they're placeholders designed to give consumers information and nothing more. Some are trying to secure pre-orders, however, with GAME opting to take orders on a placeholder price of £999.99; sure, why not.
Now GameSeek is joining in; as multiple people have pointed out to us it's listing the system for £198.50 in the UK (with a 'release date' of 17th March), with some keen on the following bit of text on the page.
With our Pre-order Price Guarantee, you can order now and if the GameSeek price increases between the time you place your order and the release date, you'll be charged the lower price.
It's pretty darn bold of them, though of course we have no idea what the order will contain. After all, Nintendo is yet to formally define bundles and SKU details - in other words, we're not sure what's in the box. The generic description on the product page naturally references the console, dock, Joy-Con controllers and the Grip accessory. We're not sure the description qualifies as a definitive outline of what will come with orders, however. Update: It's also worth noting that the money is taken up front, so caution is most definitely required.
In any case, some will no doubt take a punt in the hope they'll get a Switch for under £200. More formal details on launch offerings and purchasing options are expected from Nintendo in January.

If it's true, the Switch will be really accessible and a great value for what it will offer.
However, I heard rumors that supposedly this price will only be the switch itself, not with the docking station.
We'll have to wait until January to find out.
I've never heard of them... are they legit?
I'd love to get one for under £200... I'm assuming this is for the base model, no pro model, pro-controller or games or whatever.
Please, Nintendo. Give us affordable price and it will BOOM !!!
Eh...never used them before but at that price, I'll bite. Can always cancel and pre-order somewhere else should better deals/bundles pop up.
I agree with @anti-matter. If they want to expand their market, they have to make it easily accessible to everyone. They can start a new wave of gaming if the price is right!
Honestly, I don't see why it would be anymore then that. It's a combo of gamepad and new 3DS with updated insides and the docking station is said to basically be a charger with output for TV. I'd say basic will go for that, and the combo with Switch Pro Controller and a digital game will be 50 more.
As always though I know nothing
They'll probably try to pull some sort of loop-hole when it's actually released... like saying that because they didn't specify what was included, you have to pay extra for all of the other stuff.
@Moon Yes, they're legit - I've used them loads. Can't remember if any of my orders have been preorders, but not had any problems with them.
I'm gonna check the terms to make sure I'm not tied to anything and, if not, it can't do any harm to reserve one.
GameSeek are good as I have used them, but I had to fund past preorders up front.
But I do recommend checking it out.
That would be a great marketing to sell the console like hot cakes straight from the oven.
Everyone who pre-orders gets it for that price. The world will go cracy with the pre-orders lol.
@Gridatttack I certainly hope the Switch is sold with the dock. Splitting it from the system would only cause headaches.
If true, that price would hit the sweet spot. Then the next question is if there are any drawbacks to the system itself due to such a low price.
@Moon they legit but best wait to see the model/s bundle.
@yomanation I meant if the basic model ends up costing more than that (which is possible)... no official price has been announced yet, so they are taking a bit of a risk by starting pre-orders so low.
See folks you should listen to me. I WAS RIGHT. I predict that on the Xenoblade X port article.

@RoomB31 No wii u and 3ds here to stay. Switch is not a successor for the wii u and 3ds. Hint the console is coming at March 17 2017 for $199. Nintendo going to ship out at least 2 million units between March and June. The main purpose is that they making up the lost of the sales for the wii u and 3d. Its continuation for the 3d and wii u. What is the future of the wii u? Its not dead. Devs are still going to support the wii u and 3ds. Will nintendo still support the Wii U? Yes like Mario golf, Pikmin 4 and Mario Sunshine (coming to the Switch)."
"Hint the console is coming at March 17 2017 for $199. " Yes See I am a real dev also I have the switch SDK. LOL
I wouldn't bother. I had my NES Classic preordered with Gameseek as soon as preorders opened and they unceremoniously cancelled it in my behalf yesterday. Ultimately Nintendo's fault, but still, it's no guarantee.
Argh, it comes to €245 including postage to Dublin. IDK. Should I?
WARNING!! Gameseek will take out the money instantly if you pre order from them! I was just about to pre order it from them but on the checkout process I was concerned because it said "pay £198.50 now with card" so then I phoned them up to make sure and they said payment will be taken instantly. I asked why and said other retailers don't take payment until the item is dispatched but they said they don't do that. But other than that, they are a great site to order games from because they are cheapest, I've ordered many games from them in the past but I never pre ordered from them before.
I seen this earlier but held off for a number of reasons. Firstly, what do you get? Will it be a basic SKU? Any game included? Like take the Wii U as an example. I wouldn't have bought the Basic model. And secondly, they take your money straight away. I'm not comfortable with that when it's 4 months away from launch. I've been thinking of missing a Nintendo home console launch for the first time. All the way back from the SNES right up to the Wii U I've been there day one. However, Wii U annoyed the BeJaysus out of me. That price though is so, so tempting.
@Moon Yes, they're legit. I've bought from them loads of times and they're very reliable.
@Gerbwmu None of us know anything. At least you know that you know nothing, while some people think they know a lot more than they know
Do you really want to trust GameSeek with your switch pre-order. They have been around for a while, but with Nintendo's stock track record of new hardware Id rather go with a more established site. Reason being that they will likely have more access to stock. For example I would imagine Game, Amazon, Argos, Tesco the Official Nintendo Store etc will have first dibs on stock. How do Gameseek even know how many consoles they are getting ? They could get 5 or 105 ???? Is this a base model ? do you want the base model ? The Wii U one was useless. You are paying up front so no use changing your mind when that better value £250 SKU gets announced. Id seriously just wait until the details are out. Never ordered from GameSeek and I am sure they are a good company, but it is a lot of money to throw at an image on a website with no solid info
They will take your money at point of purchase. So proceed with caution. They are, however, legit. Either they know something the general populous does not or it's a huge leap of faith for them
Thing is, you don't really know what's included yet.
They're legit, but on TrustPilot it looks like people have been burned with NES Classic Mini orders from them so be wary!
@readyletsgo I'd follow the age old adage on this one: "if it looks too good to be true it probably is". €245 including international postage is ludicrously cheap (that's less than i payed for the gamecube back in the day ) I fully expect the system to retail for over €300 given the technology it uses. I see no reason for Game Seek to pull a stunt like this unless they know something we don't. While the retailer looks trustworthy enough, €245 is a lot of money to throw at such a vague promise.
I'll laugh if it ends up costing less than that.
They take money straight away and not on dispatch plus I've heard questionable things about them, personally I wouldn't order from them.
@yomanation
For the last time, people!
Memory does NOT equal storage! Memory is RAM! Not gigabytes!
Why is this so hard to understand?!
Wow. I really should be ready to pounce on the Switch. Couldn't click fast enough for an NES Classic. Come Jan 12th, I'll be all over it here in the states.
@kickerofelves it's a great price but yeah it's prob only for the dock or something like that. I'm gonna wait till January, see what's gonna be launched and pre-order then. If it's €50 more, then so be it.
Gameseek are good though, I use them alot for ps4 and WiiU games, takes about 5 days to get the product to my door.
@readyletsgo Thanks, that's good to know. I might use them in future
@Gridatttack I'm sorry but that would make no sense, why would it be called the 'Switch' and sold as a 'not Switch'
If this device really is $250 or less, it's going to sell like crazy.
@therealgamer No, it doesn't prove anything. This is GameSeek's chosen price and a placeholder date, nothing official. And your horrific use of the English language does not help your credibility.
I can see that maybe being the price for a barebones package, but not for the bundle one. Nintendo never sells at a loss, so their underpowered systems are always pretty needlessly expensive.
I'll guess the system alone bundle will come with dock, system, and joy con controllers for £200, a bundle with dock, system, joy con controllers and grip, and splatoon for around £250. Ppl need to remember that Nintendo stuff is always more expensive than we expect
@gcunit There gping to be screwed if there wrong.I can't see Switch being any lower than £250
@hYdeks There's no way Switch is underpowered if you go by Reddit and Bethesda
@yomanation Those terms are not interchangeable: http://searchstorage.techtarget.com/answer/What-is-the-difference-between-memory-and-storage
@yomanation
No, it's not. Memory is RAM.
RAM: Random Access Memory
A bigger hard drive is data storage.
I think ill wait till after January 12th to preorder and from a site i have more trust in, Dropping £200 just before xmas on something i wont get till March isn't really tempting to me.
@yomanation
It does, to an extent.
Not the way you're implying, though. No way in hell does your original argument make sense.
On a consumer level, memory and storage are often used to mean the same thing, hence the term 'memory cards'.
@yomanation That information was correct. While you're technically correct that both memory and storage hold data, common usage dictates that memory refers to RAM and storage refers to the HDD. Those terms are therefore not interchangeable unless you enjoy being unclear about your communication. You can't really argue that your statement was unclear, because it clearly confused multiple people. Your original statement makes no sense because differing console SKUs often have differing amounts of storage while RAM and other specs remain constant so as to keep performance consistent between models. That's a major reason why PS4 Pro is such a break from tradition. It's unlikely Nintendo will release versions that have differing amounts of memory, while it's possible they might have differing amounts of internal storage like the Wii-U's two launch SKUs. Your profession isn't an excuse for a miscommunication, in fact, it should make it easier for you to communicate and avoid these petty little arguments about semantics.
@blinder2 it's underpowered compared to Xbox one and ps4 with the things that have said, and with ps4 pro out now, and Scorpio coming next year, it will be very underpowered system.
If companies are willing to still support the Switch though, that obviously won't matter much, cause games are what matter most, but I can see it being like the Wii U's beginning where they had the third party games, then the new systems came and the Wii U was way too underpowered to get the games.
One big thing Switch has going for it at this point is its a very powerful portable.
@Maksudh25 Yeah, and besides, the dock likely serves as it's charging station, so that'd be selling the Switch without the "switch" ...and it's charger....(we want ur monies).
Actually the dock may be more like the Wii U's charging cradle, where the charger is separate from the cradle/dock and is plugged into the back of it. We'll all find out in about 6 weeks!!! (That's if leaks don't tell it all by then, lol.)
Seems kinda sketchy. I'd wait until after January 12th.
They're either mighty brave, or mighty stupid.
@Deanster101 Both Gameseek and the people preordering.
I get a feeling if I pre-order with gameseek I'm gonna get spanked with first come for serve out of stock and then everywhere is out of stock I'm too late too get it anyway else then .
I'd rather wait and actually get a premium bundle if it happens.
They probably know it will be cheaper. They aren't stupid!
@hYdeks I recommend you watch this video. It's pretty interesting. It basically goes over why the Switch's hardware won't necessarily determine the amount of 3rd party support it gets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uwh3Yvabw1c
@KirbyTheVampire yea, it won't, but I don't know a lot of people interested in a underpowered home game console. Now if you look at it as more of a portable more than anything, I can see this being a big hit, and it is very powerful as a portable. I think the big deciding factor will be if third party delivers the games Nintendo fans want, and if Nintendo fans actually care enough to buy the games, making it worth it for third party to put the games on the Switch.
@yomanation That's bad enough IMO!
@yomanation
Hypocrite. You're the one that has his items mixed up.
Memory does not store your games or music. That's the HDD's job. Memory stores temporary essential game/system/etc. files so that the processor does not have to deal with unnecessary program assets. Or something like that. You're still wrong though, memory and disk space are completely different things. Nearly everybody who knows what either is will agree with me.
This is for the basic bundle, other bundles will be released with pro controller so I'll wait!
@yomanation
No, they do not mean the same thing, deal with it.
Which means it's a little power upgrade from WII U... kinda bummer
