I'm American and I agree with Europeans who say that American football sucks. My friends and relatives have forced me countless times to watch the Superbowl year after year, and I still can't stay pay attention long enough to even figure out the obtuse rules.

I still play Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 on my 3DS and it's brilliant.

England should win the final in front of their home fans, but they needed help from the ref to get past a B-level team in London last Wednesday, so they might actually make fools of themselves tomorrow.

Re: Nintendo Fears A Popular ROM Website Could Make A Comeback

You're right, Nintendo is going after a handful of sites that offer free Nintendo games. Their strategy is to discourage piracy, not to eliminate it. Nintendo knows they can't stop piracy, because 90% of the sites that offer free Nintendo downloads are impossible to stop. It's a stupid strategy.

The best strategy to stop piracy would be to sell all the classic Nintendo games as Nintendo Switch downloads on the eshop or on a new Virtual Console. They should release the games all at once, so as not to compete with modern games every month. But Nintendo is run by mediocre businessmen, so most people who want to play the classics will just play them for free on their Raspberry Pi or their Mini system.

Re: Nintendo Fears A Popular ROM Website Could Make A Comeback

The point is that in order to play certain classic games you have the choice either to buy an old used cartridge or emulate the game using a ROM that you download on the internet. The producers make no money from either of those methods, so I doubt they care. Nintendo is shutting down a handful of sites just to make the masses of casual gamers believe that it's now impossible to find the ROMs online, and that's Nintendo will send the cops after anyone who downloads ROMs. Nintendo wants as many people as possible to use their awful online service. I'll never use it. When they put up a virtual console, I'll buy games on that, but I refuse to play games online. I want the games to be on my Switch even when I'm offline.

It's good that Nintendo put out the NES Mini and the SNES Mini, but they only did that because they wanted a piece of the Raspberry Pi action. They figured there was no way to stop those devices from selling, so they might as well take a slice of that market.

If they'd failed at making the game look modern, then they should quit their jobs.

The original game's graphics are outdated, but not obsolete. And the game itself is still good. This remake is obsolete straight out of the box, because it doesn't serve any purpose. It's actually less good than the original, which looks better, can be played on emulation with Mario-style button configuration, and doesn't force you to repeat stages (because of save states).

The main difference between Diablo III and Skyrim is that the latter has a big overworld to explore, whereas the former has dungeons to explore. You're right about the fun factor: Diablo III has very enjoyable combat, whereas Skyrim has terrible combat that makes the game a chore.

This is pointless. Who doesn't already have these games on their 3DS? Why don't they make a sequel instead?

I understand re-releasing games that are stuck on consoles that no one has anymore, such as Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, but everyone has a 3DS. No one will buy these remakes. Also, why remake a game that was perfectly fine in ints original version? The originals look much better than these remakes, by the way.

You HAVE to look at the name of the reviewer first. Nintendo Life has all good reviewers except this weirdo O'Reilly. I called him out months ago when he did the same pixel job on Kingdoms of Amalur, an excellent game which he ignored the myriad qualities of in order to concentrate on the framerate and megapixels. No one listened to me, and now we're back. Nintendo Life probably owes this guy money, or he may be a major investor in the site, so they can't get rid of him.

I never want to say anything negative about Nintendo Life, which is a great site and YouTube channel. However, they have a guy named PJ O'Reilly writing "reviews" on their site and I don't know how the rest of the guys can be so naive as to keep publishing his stuff and ruining the site. A reviewer is supposed to tell the reader whether the reader will probably like the game or not. That means giving info that helps you make a decision whether to buy or not. Instead, O'Reilly gives a very niche and maniacal view - the view of a technical freak who is interested only in pixels. Whether the game itself is good or not hardly matters, and he spends anywhere from zero to five seconds discussing that. It's all about the framerate and megapixels. He did the same thing with Kingdoms of Amalur. You read his review, and you know nothing about the game - only the framerate, which 99% of people don't notice and always gets resolved with one patch without anyone caring apart from the pixel fetishists. It's as if I wrote a review about a cereal and all I talked about were the box. Every videogame developer hopes that their great game doesn't end up in the hands of O'Reilly. Nintendo Life: if this guy is your cousin or best friend and you don't want let him go, why not have a special segment on the site called "Pixel Freaks", that way we know what we're getting into before we read? I never look at the writer's name, because I'm used to reading great stuff on your site, so I always read this guy's material and only check the name of the writer when I realize the review isn't really a review.
