This E3 direct had done nothing to get me off the fence and buy a Switch. So much empathise on Smash which having owned both Wii U and 3DS versions leaves me hungry for new experiences - and seemingly at odds with Nintendo’s cautious software dev strategy.
To use Golf as an comparison - McIlroy, Speith, Day: the new generation - despite all their recent success, they will likely never be as famous as Tiger Woods.
In the DK high score community, no matter who holds the record and what their achievements - that person will struggle to become more famous than Billy Mitchell has when that documentary brought mainstream awareness to the community.
It sums things up perfectly that a Billy Mitchell allegation generates more coverage than an improvement on the WR.
I always just presumed that Atari's decision to publish a launch title with a jaguar for a protaganist was because the console was to be known as Jaguar.
I'd be excited if this was a launch title for NX or even a (too) late Wii U release...but on 3DS? The 3DS has already had exclusive Mario Tennis and Golf releases and these 1st party sports series should really have one release per system, per generation.
On the plus side I love Mario Superstar Baseball on the GC and was gutted that Sluggers on Wii never got a PAL release - it's about time we got another Mario Baseball.
The Virtual Boy has a full, unlockable costume in Mario Golf World Tour on 3DS to add to the list - and maybe this is the big N testing the reaction to Virtual Boy before introducing the system to 3DS Virtual Console? 😎
Finally. I've no room on my hard drive with the Xenoblade DLC so the physical copy is what I've been waiting for. Hopefully find a copy for under £15 too.👍
They are a nightmare. In the past three preorders I've had with them, I was charged 5 times for Mario Maker, my Maiden of Blackwater didn't arrive on launch day and my Xenoblade order cost me £45 rather than £40. i will not be preordering from them again, if only to avoid the unwelcome requirement to contact their customer services after each screwed up order.
@BluStreak which in turn would have made a killer Christmas 2015 for Nintendo. Something complete had to take on the burden...but there is still hope, recall Capcom released Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate to add JRPG to the early Wii U library - a 1080p polished version of Xenoblade could be likely at launch.
Steiff have been making bears since 1880. The are considered the best in the business and their teddies are easily some of the most highly coveted collectables on the planet. Vintage Steiff bears often go at auction for thousands of pounds - and rare ones for tens of thousands! They each have the Steiff marque on their ear and with a bit of foresight this could be the smartest $360 any of you numpties whom baulk at the price could invest in a genuine collectable.
Wii Us were available in the US at Target for $249.99 and in UK at Argos for £249.99. I'm no economist but i'm pretty sure that's not the exchange rate...Target's offer topsold and unsurprisingly Argos' didn't chart.
Incidentally an Xbox One with Fifa 16 at Argos was £279.99. What happened to marketing Nintendo as a budget alternative to the global leaders? Why are Nintendo UK not making a bigger effort with the price point? If they don't start shifting units this Christmas, yes at a loss but nevertheless for a three figure sum, they are going to be sitting on millions of units this time next year that they cannot give away in the wake of NX. Surely increasing the install base for the final year would also improve the likelyhood of third parties porting to WiiU in 2016 and helping fill the desparately sparse release schedule? I cannot see the logic in not just cutting their losses and shifting the stock now for £150 rather than being left with another Virtual Boy scenario - a warehouse full of consoles they can't shift for a song.
Direct "we previously announced that this game would be delayed, but..." Me: squeep!! Direct "we can now confirm..." (we've pushed it back another 3 months.) Me:..."thanks Nintendo".
Physical media all the way. Gamers should have the option to try pay what they think a game is worth rather than what in this case Nintendo think they're worth. I'm looking squarely at three year old Wii U trading hands for £10 on discs and still £49.99 on eshop. Whose valuation is closer to the mark?
Then there's the collectable and resale arguments. No contest.
Halloween schedule started at the beginning of the month in my household. We have played through the Resident Evil series on Gamecube from Zero to Nemesis so far. Still planning to do Code Veronica, 4 and maybe a bit of Revelations or Project Zero 2 before Maiden of Blackwater appears On Friday! Good times.
There's no way Kojima would go to work for Nintendo - at his career stage, he doesn't need to. He'll start his own studio and sell his work to the highest bidder -which will be Sony or Microsoft - and receive silly funding offers for exclusivity.
As mentioned by some, Nintendo do not have the development budgets to entice him.
Nor (currently) the user base required to profit from production of a $50m+ cinematic opus - (They would end up with their very own Shenmue scenario).
Nor (currently) the tech necessary to host a product of Kojima's ambition.
It would take a king's ransom and the pitch of NX's life to even turn Kojima's head - but then...
His work would be locked into Nintendo exclusivity with no guarantees yet that NX will turn around the company's fortunes and become a dominant market player like Wii. Halfway through the NX's lifecycle, rival consoles will release with improved, market leading specs forcing him to work with inferior tech. His games would never reach the hundreds of millions who don't buy into Nintendo but revere his work. All this for a guaranteed paycheque he doesn't need?
What to do about wanting that Project Zero limited edition? Short of the official site finding more than the 20 copies they allocated themselves before selling out of preorders I don't want to have to go through this again for a GAME exclusive disc release...Nintendo why do you deal with these cowboys?
I just got another one through this morning as well. I suspect we'll have trouble contacting anyone at GAME HQ this morning while there is a champagne breakfast rolled out.
@MarvinTheMartian GAME are not independent, they are a multinational chain who are just as guilty of squeezing the life out the high street as the likes of Amazon.
...5 times...I can tolerate the premium prices, the limited support for minor releases, the stench of BO and the appalling product knowledge, but through all my experiences shopping at GAME, this takes the biscuit. If i'm down £200 when i reach my bank tomorrow morning, with my MOT booked 9am, I am going to blow a gasket...
Given that the Double Dash title screen immediately dates it as post 2003 - (2 years after the release of Super Circuit) and Nintendo have never made two MK games for the same system...
Why would a game supposedly being designed by Nintendo in house for the GBA (or perhaps the future DS) be encased in a Game Boy Color cartridge?
Trailer looks great. Glad development of this could settle on WiiU and not forever be caught up in pursuit of perfect Next Gen graphics on xbone. All i need is confirmation on framerates, decent reviews (70%+) and the preorder price on amazon to drop from £39.95 to £30.00 in customary fashion in the last week before launch and this is a day one purchase!
I'd like to see Shibata become CEO. He had youth on his side, experience of regional responsibility, reporting directly to Iwata, while most crucially at a time when Nintendo needs to shake off it's heavily Japanese image and become more international in order to compete, Shibata speaks fluent Engrish and Gelman!
@Dr_Corndog yeah, know what you mean about Sonic cameo, the tie in with Sega was pretty flawed from the arcade plot. It was almost as out of place as Ralph's cameo in Sonic Transformed. (Surely Vanelope would have been the obvious glitchy guest driver!!?) Still, if they can rewrite the backstory to give Ralph a fictional retro game on Megadrive then that would tie things in nicely for a console plot...

That was really difficult.
Went for F-Zero GX, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Metroid Prime, Paper Mario: TYYD and Resident Evil 4.
Having to deny a vote to Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes or LOZ The Windwaker or Mario Kart Double Dash was tough.
