Found a stuck pixel on my screen earlier today. It's barely noticeable (I mean, it DID take me four days to even spot it), but it's driving me nuts. I'm way too OCD about stuff like that. I guess I'm just going to have to learn to live with it.
Other than that, I really don't have any major complaints.
Easily the two best choices. Lyn was the face of Fire Emblem's first North American release and Ike is the main character in the first 3D game, which also may have had the best story in the series.
Got a Switch preordered with Zelda. This is definitely the most excited I've been for a new console since the Wii.
I know the launch lineup isn't stellar, but Zelda and Super Bomberman R will be enough to keep me happy until Mario Kart 8 Deluxe comes out in April. Then E3 is just right around the corner after that, which I'm sure will feature tons of great new announcements. I think the Switch will actually end up having a strong 2017 when it's all said and done.
Out of the whole mess of indie titles in recent years, Shovel Knight still stands out to me. It genuinely feels like a lost NES classic. I love that almost three years later, Yacht Club Games is still supporting it with free DLC.
I think it's safe to say the Switch version of Smash Bros. will be the definitive experience of the game. Nintendo will include plenty of additional content to entice current owners of the game to get this new one.
My personal wish list for the Switch version:
All the stages and modes from both the Wii U and 3DS versions
Ice Climbers! And of course any other new characters.
Plenty of new stages, including some more classics from Smash 64, Melee and Brawl
Honestly, when you look at a list like this, you realize that the Wii U had a strong library of games. It might not be a big library, but it's a good one.
Not really any good deals for people that already own a 3DS and Wii U. That's alright though, I've got Pokemon Moon to play and other games to catch up on, not to mention I've gotta save up for a Switch.
I've had my Wii U since launch day, and I've been with it through thick and thin. My (basically final) thoughts on the console are that it was an underutilized and underappreciated gem.
Without a doubt, it's Nintendo worst console to date (unless we count the Virtual Boy), but that's not necessarily the fault of the console itself. Nintendo is to blame for not releasing a steady amount of great games (there was A LOT of downtime between most of the top game releases) and also ignoring some of their best series, like Metroid and F-Zero. The consumers are to blame as well for not supporting third party games enough, which ultimately scared off developers and left the Wii U as basically a Nintendo games-only system. Nintendo also made some very questionable decisions over the lifetime of the console too, such as not having a unified account system that allowed cross-buy with 3DS Virtual Console games.
With all of that said, I thought the Wii U was a good console. It has some of the best games released in the last few years and I really got my money's worth out of it.
Good to hear. Glad Nintendo is issuing the ban hammer over this.
I will never understand why people think it's ok to pirate and/or steal games. Developers work their butts off to make these games and people just steal them and spit in their faces. I have no sympathy whatsoever for anyone that had their 3DS online functionality bricked over this. Serves them right.
I'm currently about as frustrated as I've ever been with Nintendo, and I've been a fan since I was old enough to hold a controller in the early 90s. These stock shortages the last few years have really started to straight up piss me off. I searched every local store this past Friday, but I couldn't get one, because each store got freaking 6 of them. Then I tried to buy one on Amazon the exact second they put them up for sale...... nothing. This crap is getting old.
@PanurgeJr Good luck. I just tried getting one at my local Wal-Mart, but had no luck. They seriously only got 6 of them. I have a feeling these suckers are going to be in short supply, which isn't exactly surprising, considering this is Nintendo we're talking about.
Just headed to my local Wal-Mart to try and snag one of these at midnight, but came home empty-handed because they got freaking 6 of them. SIX.
Really, Nintendo? We're gonna do this yet again? Did you learn nothing from the amiibo shortage a couple years back? Am I seriously going to have to search every store, every corner of the Internet, under every rock and inside every tree just to find a single NES Classic Edition?
Tens of thousands of people are clearly very excited about this product, and yet Nintendo is going to release approximately 50 of them.
My Nintendo has been a massive disappointment so far. 20-30% discounts on Super Nintendo games is the best they can offer? Seriously? Are we sure this service is from the same company that made Club Nintendo?
I got several free games, an awesome Mario statue, pins, playing cards, posters and plenty more awesome collectibles from Club Nintendo. Since My Nintendo launched, I've gotten Metroid Fusion, Zelda Picross and a 3DS theme. That's it. Very disappointed.
Definitely planning on getting one, but without a preorder option available, I'm going to have to head out on launch day and hope for the best. Really hope the NES Classic isn't going to be like the early waves of Smash Bros. amiibo and be next to impossible to find.
I sunk so many hours into Wild World. That game was my obsession for months. Man, those early years of the DS really were something special. So many fun and unique games.
It's a real bummer to admit, but it has to be said: This might be the weakest Fall/Holiday release schedule ever for Nintendo.
The biggest release, without question, is Pokemon Sun and Moon. But man, there just isn't a whole lot to look forward to outside of that. The biggest Wii U releases are yet another Paper Mario sequel with a major identity crisis and a port of a six-year-old PS3/Xbox 360 game. That's all the Wii U gets in its final Holiday season before its successor releases? Heartbreaking.
Meanwhile, outside of Pokemon, the 3DS is lacking pretty bad as well. An inferior port of Super Mario Maker and a new Mario Party aren't much to get excited about, and the other game releases are mainly niche titles that won't appeal to a lot of people.
And outside of all of that, it's just a bunch of indie games. I don't know about anyone else, but Pokemon Moon will likely be my only new game purchase for my Nintendo systems this Fall. The rest of my gaming cash will be going toward NX savings.
The Gamecube is still my favorite console ever. I picked the following five:
1.Super Smash Bros. Melee
2. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
3. Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
4. Tales of Symphonia
5. Metroid Prime and/or Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.
Hardest games to exclude: Soul Calibur II, Resident Evil 4 and F-Zero GX.
Games I was disappointed to not see in the poll: The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike.
It looks fine, I guess. Something I would play for about a week and then never touch again. But that's mobile gaming for you.
I have no issue with Nintendo delving into the mobile gaming market, but I just really hope it doesn't distract from making real games for real game consoles.
I cannot even begin to describe how badly I want Metroid Prime 4. I hope that Retro Studios has been hard at work on it. The Metroid Prime trilogy is one of the greatest trilogies in all of gaming... maybe even THE greatest. It's time for a fourth entry on the NX.
Between Federation Force not getting the best reception and the massive outrage over Nintendo's crackdown on AM2R, I really hope Nintendo takes the hint and starts working on a new 2D Metroid game ASAP. It can't possibly be more obvious what the fans want.
Pretty good Direct overall. Was very disappointed about the lack of two announcements I was really hopeful for though: the reveal of the last Smash Bros. amiibo and Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal coming to the eShop.
I know it's hard to complain about free rewards, but Club Nintendo kicks the crap out of My Nintendo so far. The Platinum Coins have been mostly useless so far (I have well over 2,000 right now, and I even got the 1,000 coin Twilight Princess Picross game) and they don't swap out the free games often enough. I also really, really miss the physical rewards that Club Nintendo had. I got so much cool stuff when they did that.
Finally downloaded it. Glad I could still find it.
I just hope people calm down a bit and stop being so harsh toward Nintendo. They have a right to protect their IPs, and even the developer of AM2R has said that he isn't upset with them.
The best thing we as fans can do is keep downloading the classic Metroid games on Virtual Console and support the franchise that way. A sudden spike in sales for Metroid, Metroid II, Super Metroid, Fusion and Zero Mission would no doubt grab Nintendo's attention and show them that we want to see another 2D style Metroid game.

That's a highly disappointing score. Was really looking forward to this.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
Looks like a fantastic controller. Sucks that it's a bit pricey, but I'll pick one up eventually. Will definitely want that d-pad for fighting games.
Re: Poll: Nintendo Switch Countdown - Less Than a Week to Go, Is the Hype Building?
Incredibly excited. Nothing gets me hyped up more than a new Nintendo console.
Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch Could Revive Local Multiplayer
Local multiplayer never went away for me! Nintendo Land, Mario Kart 8 and Smash all got tons of multiplayer time from me, my family and friends.
Re: Talking Point: The DLC Expansion Pass for Zelda: Breath of the Wild is Both Surprising and Inevitable
Nintendo has yet to burn me on DLC, so I'm looking forward to this.
Re: Scandinavian Retailer Prompts Concerns Around NES Mini Production
I'm still convinced Nintendo has produced no more than 17 of these. I have yet to find one. Anywhere.

Hoping for Super Shovel Knight on the Switch!
Re: NES Classic Edition Sold 196,000 Units in US Launch as Pokémon Sun and Moon Set Records
NES Classic Edition sales would have easily exceeded 1 million by now if Nintendo had actually made enough of them.
Re: The Soul Calibur Series Has Turned 20, And All We're Getting Is A Pachinko Machine
Soul Calibur VI on Switch, with Link returning as a character.
Hey, I can dream.
Re: Feature: It's Time to Vote for Your Nintendo Life Game of the Year Awards
Man, these lists really make you realize just how bare this year was on Nintendo consoles.
Overall Game of the Year for me is Pokemon Sun and Moon though. Easily the best I played on my Wii U or 3DS this year.
Re: My Nintendo Gets Plenty of Legend of Zelda Goodies in North America
The Zelda 30th Anniversary theme is amazing. Probably my favorite My Nintendo reward that I've gotten.
Re: Review: Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS (3DS)
I don't understand how this can possibly be a 9/10. Online level sharing is almost the entire point of the game, and it's absent in the 3DS version.

Trivia time! Who's to blame for this disaster?
A) Nintendo
B) Scalpers
C) Anyone who actually pays these outrageous prices

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Will Have Super Mario And Skyrim At Launch, Splatoon Coming As Pack-In
This would make for a fantastic launch day. An addictive multiplayer shooter, a new 3D Mario and a massive RPG all at launch? Sign me up.
Re: Rumour: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Won't Be Ready by March
Couple things:
1) If this is true, it's not a delay. Nintendo has only stated "2017" as the release window. This was never confirmed as a Switch launch title.
2) I'm a longtime Zelda fan, and I'm not bothered by this one bit. Zelda games are ALWAYS worth the wait.

Re: Limited Stock Brings Out the Inevitable NES Mini Scalpers
@Danrenfroe2016 They don't even need to take a page from Apple for that. That's called business 101, and Nintendo has completely botched it. Again.
Re: Limited Stock Brings Out the Inevitable NES Mini Scalpers
@CTMike People would have to be crazy to pay more than the retail price for one of these. I'm already seeing $300 offers on Amazon. Just insanity.
Re: Limited Stock Brings Out the Inevitable NES Mini Scalpers
Went to Wal-Mart at midnight last night to try and snag one, but left empty-handed because they got a whopping 6 in stock.
Tried GameStop less than an hour ago, right before they opened, but left empty-handed once again because they only got, you guessed it, 6.
I live in a town of around 23,000 people, and Nintendo sent 12 NES Classic Editions our way. That's cool.
Re: Random: The Classic Controller Can Be Used to Reset the NES Mini
@PanurgeJr Good luck. I just tried getting one at my local Wal-Mart, but had no luck. They seriously only got 6 of them. I have a feeling these suckers are going to be in short supply, which isn't exactly surprising, considering this is Nintendo we're talking about.

My personal hopes for this Direct, and the chances I think they have of actually happening:
Good chance: The last Smash Bros. amiibo revealed (Cloud, Corrin, Bayonetta).
Decent chance: Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal coming to Virtual Console. GBA games finally being added to the 3DS eShop (FINALLY!).
Hey, I can dream: Nintendo announces cross-buy for all eShop games on Wii U and 3DS.
