As another month gets under way there are updated My Nintendo rewards to consider in Europe. It's worth remembering that short term Nintendo Selects discounts were added earlier in the week, whereas today they're the more 'typical' additions.
No full downloads have been added this time, so we have a full batch of discounts instead; details are below.
Wii U
- 30% off Bayonetta until 1st January 2017 - 50 Gold Points
- 30% off NES Remix 2 until 1st January 2017 - 20 Gold Points
3DS
- 30% off Mario Golf: World Tour until 1st January 2017 - 70 Gold Points
- 15% off Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth until 1st January 2017 - 250 Platinum Points
- 30% off The Denpa Men: They Came by Wave until 1st January 2017 - 200 Platinum Points
- 20% off HarmoKnight until 1st January 2017 - 250 Platinum Points
- 20% off Hydroventure: Spin Cycle until 1st January 2017 - 200 Platinum Points
Are any of you tempted by these discounts? Let us know in the comments.

NA gets the themes all added again and nothing else.
I'm proud to be an American.
Seriously though I'm pretty sure that this is the first time Bayonetta has been discounted on the eShop. Hopefully that comes stateside, I'd pick it up at a reduced price in a heartbeat!
I'm hoping they're saving actually good content for NX.
@Discipledoctor not only that, but nintendo KNOWS that almost only america cares about metroid, yet, there's no sign of the samus theme... like they couldn't even give us THAT...
seriously tho, they better be "working on" updating the NOA rewards, cuz as it is right now, we're getting pretty much less choices then before, like no new discounts, not even a single digital title available to exchange... this CAN'T be it...
"Are any of you tempted by these discounts?"
hahahah, sure, but please extend them to the 1st of April. That way nobody confuses these joke offers for "rewards"
My favorite "reward" is: 70 gold coins for 30% off of mario golf ... that reward is not just sarcasm anymore, thats a sociophatic scam attempt
I have nes remix 2 but come on they giving you 30% off which is just over 2 pounds. This rewards can't get any better
Wii U got screwed again.
I bought NES Remix 2 a few months ago when they had the 50% off offers going. Now it's only 30% and it'll cost you 20 gold coins for a worse deal. Then there's Bayonetta. Potentially, you could be getting 30% off a €10 game(if you own Bayonetta 2 already digitally) for 50 gold coins. What a lame "bargain". Even if it's 30% off the regular €30 price it's still bad. You can buy the double pack Special Edition off Ebay for €20.
My Nintendo is a shambles. Not to mention some of you may not be aware but platinum points expired as of last night. Check here to see how many you're due to lose in the coming months:
https://my.nintendo.com/point/history
And it'll keep happening at the end of every month. I had about 700 points expiring last night and the only thing I could spend them on was game tickets for Miitomo. Pathetic!
...darn it, this is one discount I actually would have used.
Looks pretty interesting. I'll probably get Bayonetta and HarmoKnight around the holiday period. Maybe Persona Q as well, but that one doesn't appeal to me that much. Maybe I'll be more interested after I've given Etrian Odyssey a try.
@InternetBowser
Wait, what? Sure, most of the rewards aren't very good and Nintendo needs to step it up, but I got a copy of Metroid Fusion and a Zelda Theme for 3DS for just buying games I wanted anyway. So yeah, Nintendo, just give me nothing instead of an awesome game
Might get The Denpa Men now, always meant too but it kinda fell off the radar.
I'm tempted with the Captain Toad and Persona Q discounts.
Sucks for Europe
Persona Q please. Altus puts their games on sale every month. Just wait
@SLIGEACH_EIRE at least you got game tickets. I had to get clothes for my tomagochi pet
So Persona Q is down in price now right? Been meaning to buy it at some point.
I miss Club Nintendo....
@WhiteTrashGuy if I'm honest I'd say I complained about the website crashing all the time but yes I do miss club Nintendo
how about a discount for paper mario color splash?
You guys remember when we were all excited for the new Nintendo rewards program to come out? Good times.
Gotta say, I was optimistic for MyNintendo at launch. We got a Zelda Picross game that gave us something to save up for, then WarioWare Touched, we got exclusive VC in the way of DKC Returns on Wii U (which only just now released on the eShop), we got themes like Bravely Second, Mario and DK...
Then it all fall apart.
Idk, I'm to the point now I just pretend there isn't a reward program. I have 600+ gold coins, and own every game offered, even the discounted ones.
Maybe I'll just spend my coins on every single full game offered, and sell them on eBay bundled for half off MSRP. At least I'd be getting something out of MyNintendo.
And, I love digital, especially for handhelds. But gotta have my physical- for display, for posterity, for the collection. And I'm done buying games 2-3 times just so I can have my games that I bought retail with me at all times digitally on my N3DS and N3DS XL. So I'll just continue to buy physically, and then dump the game digitally onto both my handhelds. No reason a person should have to buy the same game multiple times on the same platform (different platforms I can understand, but on the same platform? Heck no!) just to achieve convenience. Buy physically, dump digitally, get best of both worlds. A full retail collection on the shelf yet the convenience of the entire collection on the go.
I just realized that Persona is only 18£ digitally, even without this discount. The card version is annoyingly stable in price, 31£ on Amazon.
Genuinely good offer, will bite with the reward now.
Given that Nintendo UK were selling Bayonetta 2 (on disc) at 70% off for no greater reason than "because Christmas", 30% off the original game for 50 Gold Points doesn't seem all that generous...
Last week's Nintendo Selects discounts look a little better though, as those games have already been heavily discounted. Still not anywhere near enough to tempt me away from discs though.
I'll think I'll remain a luddite for as long as it is financially sensible, and maybe a bit after. I like the feeling of having a tangible games collection.
Saw the pic, thought it was for the amiibo darn it. Finally started playing B2 last night, what a fantastic first hour. Wii U can do graphics and mature.
@JaxonH ouch
I think if they called it MyMiitomo, as much as it is focused on that app, and the other rewards were just seen as a bonus for playing Miitomo, then it wouldn't look that bad, they do offer a lot of stuff for Miitomo, the problem is not much else. MyNintendo it is not. It's certainly not a rewards program for gamers, more like MyNintendoLibrary. It could get better with NX, but thats probably still at least 5 months away. Maybe in 2 months it will turn into MyMarioRun, at least for people with an i device.
The biggest problem with My Nintendo is that all those (great) games are already owned by most of the fanbase. I really think that with the launch of NX, having some discounts on launch games for the new console, would be way more tempting and useful. Like, you buy Zelda BotW digitally and get a 20% on another launch title. Now that is a good deal. Also bring back physical prizes: they have already stated that they will come back, so give us them!
I miss Club Nintendo....
It wouldn't be so bad if the games were 50% off, 15-20% off is just insulting.
@rjejr
And wouldn't ya know I just moved on from my iPhone to a Galaxy S7. No Mario Run for me, at least, not on the go right away at launch.
I still have an iPad though so I'll get to try it out
Every time I open one of these articles about My Nintendo my finger pauses and I think, "Why put yourself through this?" I must be a masochist. These announcements only dampen any enthusiasm I should have for NX. Sure, I might love the hardware and the odd title but Nintendo will still be a frustrating grinch on everything else.
Would've been great if I can use my gold coins on the Nintendo.co.uk site and get those gifts or figures. Or even amiibo
My Nintendo is poop
Shame you can't use your coins for physical games and goods. If you could I would have actually spent some of the coins I've accrued
sigh Since August they only added a single full download purchase with gold coins, which is the Mario Kart 8 first DLC...
I just want two or three VC titles and/or DLCs on offer at everytime so that I can pick something or wait and actually see new offers after the old ones expires, am I really asking too much? -.-;;;
They need to start offering more rewards. I've barely used any coins since it started.
So we are getting to that point in time that they don't want to give away even a few NES games that everyone should have, here have these themes from the start of the system that most should have, enjoy the meh discounts, but we won't give away too much cuz we wanna make money! come back in January when we give less!...I think I'm about done with the site...
I knew I had to redeem metroid II last night
Having just played through Bayonetta, I can heartily recommend it to my fellow NLifers.
A perfect accompaniment to the splendiferously spooky celebration of Halloween
@getyourak Atlus didn't release most of its games in Europe by themselves, though. NISA released them and the only sale they've ever given us was a permanent price drop for four Atlus games to 10 (SMT: Soul Hackers, EO IV, EOU I) and 20€ (Persona Q), because they did lose the licences after Atlus has been purchased by Sega. Better take the additional discount and buy Persona Q now, if you are interested. Who knows how long it will be available after that.
Somehow Nintendo always finds a way to make this stuff even more annoying. It's not enough that MyNintendo is worse than Club Nintendo, no, it just has to be a pointless service, that gets even more pointless by having it split up according to "regions", despite offering only digital stuff anyways.
It's like a nesting-doll of pointlessness and annoyance. It's a good thing it's "free" ...
20% of Harmoknight? We Nintendo folks sure get spoiled don't we ?
If I were to compare this service to GWG and IGC for Xbox Live Gold and PS+, I'd say Microsoft wins. Sony and Nintendo are tied, because both services are awful.
4 years down the line and... Hydroventure finally gets a discount! Sorry backlog...
I WANT DS GAMES LIKE WARIOWARE TOUCHED IS IT THAT HARD NINTENDO?
I just noticed that on the NA site, Ultimate NES Remix has a 30% off coupon, but with 900 plat coins instead of gold. That counts for something. May consider.
Other than that, it's just the two Mario and DK themes they offered in the beginning. Blargh.
RIP My Nintendo.
Oh and thanks NoA for that amazing new discount for NES Remix that I'll never use.
So in NA they added a Mario 3ds theme for 200 Platinum coins but the Jibanyan theme is only 100? That makes a lot of sense, lol. Oh well, I'll get the Mario one anyway since there is nothing else to get.
You guys member when Nintendo was good yea I member
i instantly click on any article using bayonetta's picture.
I could save up money for Ultimate NES Remix, but I was going to play through 1+2 anyways after I get the NES Classic Controller.
Over 330 gold coins in NA. Not a darn thing to get.
Sad thing is we had super punch out as a gold reward in the uk. I should've got this but was waiting to see what else comes up. Sadly it expired. They should keep it up longer
@IbangangryNsmash member Club Nintendo? I member.
i miss club nintendo ...
Heh, the Denpa men finally gets some attention.
My Nintendo Adds More Rewards for Discounts in Europe... And You Guessed It, They Suck - should be the title.
Someone knock some sense into them with kirby's hammer.
On a side note it will be a miracle when noa starts giving us actual rewards.
Complete garbage. Better to give nothing than this crap. They only demonstrate a lack of understanding for what their customers actually want. Again.
Percentages...are you F******G KIDDING ME?!
This sucks. The only thing missing from this joke is a punch line 😝
i think 50% or 70% would be better for all that don't you think i got so much platinum coins i just want to use them more
and i hope we are getting some lego games to
Totally forgot MyNintendo was a thing.
Hmmmm, I'm missing Bayonetta 1 since I had to make do with just the Bayo 2 single when the specials were sold out. 17.5GBP with the discount makes for a decent offer.
Have to admit, truly miss Club Nintendo, which I got an occasional game from with my points (was always nice to see at least 2 games to pick from each month).
MyNintendo, got a few games, now nothing. Just new 3DS themes, and some discounts on games I have or don't want. And physical copies of games don't get me points either. Truly sad IMHO, and sucks to now start losing the points I earned early on (silver/platinum after 6 months).
Man the self entitlement here is sickening almost. You people need to remember the world doesn't revolve entirely around you. Its not that hard to see that much of the new service was likely designed more with NX and their mobile games in mind. I recall a rumor a while back ago that NX would allow you to earn points for completing achievements
@LemonSlice is the discount added to the e shop/nnid automatically or a voucher code? I wonder if you could 'save' a discount until a game is on sale and make it cheaper still, bayonetta has been on sale for £10 before. Hmm....🤔
I was kind of hoping for a bayonetta theme
@Wolfgabe you can hold onto that dream pal, the NX isn't going to save My Nintendo
Man, if my excitement for the new rewards program was anything compared to how exciting the NX reveal will be and the results for how I feel after the fact are similar... good luck, Nintendo. May your bankruptcy be swift.
@Wolfgabe Is it entitled to suddenly realize that two days ago I could have had the Twilight Princess Picross and now I can't?
@LemonSlice Tough luck for you you just need to be on the spot more
@AfterAnAutopsy Whats wrong with believing My Nintendo might be improved with NX. Just because it sucks now doesn't mean it can't possibly get better in the future
@Wolfgabe I agree with you.
MyNintendo can't suck enough. Please pull the plug on this lame loyalty rewards programme and STOP THE MADNESS!!!
Also I think many are not considering how My Nintendo might play into Nintendo's future plans. When the service was first revealed I believe Nintendo mentioned theme parks and films being incorporated into My Nintendo as well. Suppose you could use your points to get discounts on tickets to a Nintendo movie or passes to a Nintendo theme park. Its important to consider the bigger picture
@Wolfgabe i never said it wouldn't improve. It could be the best thing in a year, but how many of us are going to be eager still when that does come around.
What if they stop supporting 3DS and Wii U and focus solely on the NX for rewards. Then I'll be cut out of a loyalty program that exists right now. I'd like to be rewarded now, not the future when it may not even apply to me. No this isn't being entitled, I've spent over $200 on digital games for this reward program, I did kind of expect to see some sort of return. It's not our fault they don't know what they're doing even though Club Nintendo was fine as it was.
@Wolfgabe "Suppose you could use your points to get discounts on tickets to a Nintendo movie or passes to a Nintendo theme park. Its important to consider the bigger picture"
I'd sell my Nintendo consoles and get an Xbone. If we don't like digital discounts now why would we want real life discounts? It's so simple. Offer virtual console games holy cow what a revelation!
@Wolfgabe More on the spot? I read the newsletter Nintendo sends me, and there was no notice about "A whole lot of your platinum points are going to suddenly expire, trolololololololololol". Now how am I going to ever get the TP Picross game if the points continue to expire every month?
@ULTRA-64 The discount is on the "Just for You" subpage of the eShop after you touch yourself (press the icon with your Mii, that is), and it's valid for four weeks.
Here's hoping North America will get some good discounts. I did see the Mario and Donkey Kong 3DS themes were back and Ultimate NES Remix got a coupon (30% for 900 platinum coins).
I am entitled to better, freeer games. Nontendo is screwing me with this ninsense. I will throw away my New 3DS now.
@Wolfgabe I think you're missing the point. A loyalty reward program exists to give customers more of an incentive to buy a company's products, in this particular case, to encourage Nintendo customers to buy more digital downloads. Well mynintendo completely and utterly fails in that regard. It does nothing to encourage more purchases because its rewards are useless. This has nothing to do with entitlement.
If it's true that mynintendo was designed mainly for their mobile games then it would do better to focus only on that and not even bother offering anything else, because what they are offering is pathetic.
The coins and discounts should be accessible on the eshop, not through having to go on a website. More than half of Wii U owners and 3DS owners probably aren't even aware it exists. Daft system, and it was old-fashioned before it launched.
Nintendo still just don't understand how to offer any kind of value to customers.
@AfterAnAutopsy How is expanding the type of rewards offered a bad thing?
@tedko I recall them saying they were looking into physical content in the future
@Wolfgabe their customers are already dissatisfied with their current offerings, do you honestly believe people are going to pay a huge amount of money to go to a theme park just to get a discount off of entry? That would sink My Nintendo. Why is it so hard to offer us video games through a video game companies reward program? The answer is they don't know what they're doing. They should've left CN up until the NX was released if that was their plan
@AfterAnAutopsy I dont think you understand how Nintendo is trying to expand outside of video games. Universal deal ring a bell? Also its highly pre mature to claim they dont know what they are doing when we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes or what their future plans for MyNintendo are. I am trying to see the bigger picture here.
Also do you know how MyCoke rewards works? Spend a bunch on Coke products get discounts on other products. MyNintendo isnt much different in that regard.
The problem is you people are comparing a free rewards program to the likes of Xbox live Gold and Playstation+ which are primarily subscription based services. With a free rewards program you cant expect to always strike gold with offerings. Also from what I have hear PS+ has kinda went downhill.
The reason its not much at the moment is obvious because My Nintendo likely wont reach full maturity until NX. Also if they announce a massive overhaul to the service and start rewarding physical purchases that will lead to renewed interest
@Wolfgabe clearly I'm aware they're trying to expand their program to include more things. But is it working for the core Nintendo audience? No. Is it benefiting the person that plays once a month? Yeah.
We can all see the bigger picture, most are looking at the here and now. As a long time fan, and I mean 20+ years, I hate to see Nintendo go this route. I don't want a MyCoke rewards program, and I'm sure not many else do either.
@AfterAnAutopsy Thats pretty much the whole point of of it though. Their intention is to expand their audience and user base and attract more people to Nintendo games and hardware. Just look at Pokemon Go and how it helped boost 3DS and Pokemon game sales.
@AfterAnAutopsy I don't want a Mycoke reward system 🙋
@Wolfgabe that's great, but you're missing what My Nintendo represents right now. They want our money now, and they're not rewarding anyone but the causal Nintendo player. We're allowed to be unhappy with what My Nintendo has been for the last six months. You know, the same amount of time for those coins we so eagerly wanted in the beginning now begin to disappear before our eyes. Next month I lose 500 platinum coins and 10 gold coins. Why? Because the paltry selection isn't adequate to offer me something I can actually use. I don't want discounts for games I already own. They're sitting on thousands of games they could offer us, and we get the TP Picross extended and old themes brought back. This is garbage. No wonder they let RCMADIAX and Skunk sell on their systems. They stopped caring when Iwata died.
@Wolfgabe "The problem is you people are comparing a free rewards program to the likes of Xbox live Gold and Playstation+ which are primarily subscription based services. With a free rewards program you cant expect to always strike gold with offerings. Also from what I have hear PS+ has kinda went downhill."
Wow you're right, it's not like Nintendo had a rewards program prior to My Nintendo, for about 8 years. And you're the only one comparing My Nintendo to other programs. This isn't a subscription service if you hadn't noticed.
@ULTRA-64 do you do my coke? I do
@BensonUii Nice to see someone with some common sense here
@Wolfgabe nice deflection. Looks like we're done here
@AfterAnAutopsy member when you bought Nintendo poop and you got real rewards I member
Wolfgabe@ here's to the future......but aren't kinda there already Nintendo doesn't wanna give back to the fans sit and think for a sec. "Nintendo" look at all this digital stuff kool right? Spend 100 bucks and get 30% off star fox 3ds lmao
Wolfgabe@ or here's a digital sticker haha or wait for it..... a digital poster/ Nintendo 3ds theme
Someone replaced the word with poop lol it was probably nintendo hahaha
@Discipledoctor You have a Mega Man Star Force related profile pic, you get my complete respect as a result, I love Battle Network too, just Star Force is mad underrated.
let me know when they finally add physical prizes, then things will be interesting
@WhiteTrashGuy I could almost say the same at this point. Except for the few times we've all worked hard to get platinum status and found out the rewards for that year were crap.
Well, it's definitely getting better, but still nothing I want.
Missing Club Nintendo more and more.
Nintendo prices for DIGITAL licences, thats it, LICENCES are a joke, I get it that they believe the games are worth it, but no way paying that for a digital game for a consol that you had to pay more to get extra storage to be able to purchase said digital games in the first place. No thank you, physical games are cheaper, and will be worth a lot in the future, no need for the storage space in a hardrive and you totally own them. I wanted Fatal Frame 5, but I´m not supporting digital only games, so yeah played the demo and thats it. Awesome game, but thats it.
@PtM i know. That's what makes the whole thing worse. We didn't get a single new reward.
