Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream?

Great game at its core (the people who think it’s terrible obviously have no souls). It can get a little repetitive, and the “wish” mechanic is a little annoying (it would be nice if we had the option to purchase level-up gifts or items to use on the island without having to essentially grind warm fuzzies to level-up), but it’s incredibly charming and hilarious. Solid 8/10 for me.

Also, let us make jerk Miis, Nintendo

@NeonPizza The only reason that was the case was because video games were meant to appeal to kids, so they had to go through a bunch of hoops to appeal to both kids and the parents who saw video games as some dangerous toy. Nowadays, they have nothing to prove, other than why their console and games are worth purchasing. They don’t need crazy deals (which is a bad thing) or crazy marketing (which is a good thing). Also, I thought third-party exclusives were a bad thing? Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony were all just buying them up anyway - not like they actually had a reason to be exclusive. And back to the Super Mario Kart thing, that game has been surpassed by dang near every sequel (Super Circuit is debatable). The tracks all blend in, Vanilla Lake is near unplayable, the battle mode is incredibly bland compared to how it is in future installments, drifting is pretty much useless unless you’re an expert, the computers cheat in ways that make my jaw drop (“DID HE JUST JUMP OVER MY SHELL?! HE DIDN’T EVEN CROSS AN ITEM PANEL!!!”), I have no idea how anyone can look at this game and think it’s the greatest other than out of pure nostalgia. It has aged like milk.

Would be nice if there was an “I can’t decide” option. Also, I get that they were probably trying to make Daisy look more like she’s actually from the Middle East (which I think is what Sarasaland is supposed to represent, though it may have originally supposed to have been Africa, I honestly have no idea) but her movie design is so honking jarring to look at. Especially the hair, which looks like a wig.

Re: Miyamoto Isn't So Sure About A Smash Bros. Style Movie

If you think the Mario (and Sonic but that’s Sega) movies are incredibly corporate, just imagine what a “Smash Bros.” movie would end up like. What kids care about Punch-Out? Or Metroid? Or Kid Icarus? They know it wouldn’t work out if they included those IPs, so they’d just market it as a crossover between Mario and Zelda (which would be extremely odd), maybe Kirby if Sakurai gets involved, or even Sonic just to appeal to the kids. Critics would hate it, fan boys would hate it, it’s just not worth it.

-10/10 there’s no emotional death scene. Every kids movie needs to have an emotional death scene. That way, the kids will be too traumatized to watch it again so the parents won’t ever have to deal “Let’s watch it again!” But no. They’re going to love it, and parents will have to stay subscribed to…whichever of the bajillion streaming services out there will have this in there to keep the kiddos happy.

In case you can’t tell, the negativity is starting to annoy me
