Re: "New Players Won't Feel Alone" - Square Enix Partners With Google For AI-Powered Dragon Quest Companion

I’m fine with companies using AI to make things more convenient such as in this implementation (having an AI companion lend a hand to newcomers and explain how to play the game). I’m not fine with companies talking up AI and trying to position it as the friend we can always depend on. It’s a money and time saver. That’s all it is and it should always stay like that.

1) These are kids toys. Toys made for those strange creatures we refer to as “children”. They are not made for anyone able to read this.

2) I don’t want these because I’m not the target demographic for them and I don’t like eating McDonald’s

I know it sounds wild after the whole Legends 3 thing, BUT I do believe a Legends collection IS going to happen because 1) Every other series got one. Sure, they cheaped out with ZX and threw it in with what obviously was primarily envisioned as a Zero collection, as given by the fact that the side mode, Z Chaser, features the Zero logo as well as just an artwork of Zero rather than including ZX protagonists plus the fact that all the extra artwork was largely taken from the Zero Collection on DS and the Official Complete Works art book. No love for ZX shown outside of the inclusion of the games, artworks, and soundtracks. But still, even if ZX got the short straw, Star Force is still getting a collection (and it arguably has a lesser reputation than ZX) and they’re actually putting in effort despite the fact that it’s Star Force. 2) The Legends fanbase has been suffering for years, so putting out a collection would be a great way to keep them somewhat happy. 3). Legends is one of the more commonly referenced Mega Man series in Capcom games, so they clearly have respect for it 4) it would be a brilliant way to gauge interest in a new installment, even if that doesn’t turn out to be the same game that got shelved over a decade ago. I know this is basically just me rambling, but I just don’t see why they’d bother putting out collections for every Mega Man franchise except Legends. I mean, yeah, you’ve got stuff missing like the Classic Mega Man GB games and the Mega Man Xtreme games, but it would make more sense for those to get thrown onto digital storefronts for like 5 bucks a pop. Maybe a little more for Mega Man & Bass. Legends deserves a collection (I’d say they deserve remakes but we’d have to see how well they can keep the ball rolling after Mega Man Dual Override releases), and I wouldn’t be surprised if Capcom agrees.

@The_Nintendo_Expat Yeah, I can see how that can be confusing. I was mainly thinking in terms of what we don’t need instead of what we do need (nearly every time X9 is brought up the Elf Wars plot is thrown in as a shoe-in for a story even though it’s not relevant to the X series, it would make way more sense as a Zero game if they ever decide to tackle it).

Favorite games? Mega Man X, Mega Man 7, Mega Man 9, and Mega Man 11. In terms of spin-offs worth noting, a lot of people say Mega Man V on the GB is really good, but it being a GB game makes it hard for me to endure with the choppy frame rate.

Good to hear that this collection has a crap ton of effort put into it, which makes me hopeful that the inevitable (yes, it’s inevitable at this point) Legends collection will receive the treatment it deserves. But seriously, though, I am so sick of the “We don’t want this, we want Legends” nonsense everywhere, particularly on Facebook. Like, no wonder Capcom doesn’t like making Mega Man games anymore, the fanbase has gotten incredibly entitled and absurd with their wishes. We don’t need an Elf Wars game, for heaven’s sake! We don’t need Mega Man IX. We don’t need Powered Up 2 or MHX2. Those remakes just don’t look worthy of continuing compared to starting from scratch, especially in the soundtrack and plot departments. I am very glad Capcom is insistent on doing what Mega Man really needs to live instead of listening to the ridiculous demands of the fanbase.

@Jeronan

The Wii U was overall a "good" console, BUT you completely left out the following:

  • it has some really good games, a ton of mediocre games, and some outright horrible games (and that's on the first party side of things)
  • you were often paying $50 for underbaked games that never got content added
  • the console was incredibly outdated
  • the third-party support was horrible

I have no idea how you can look at all of that and think the Wii U days were great compared to this generation
