I’m betting on a remake of the first X game since actually continuing the story would be difficult since 8 had a cliffhanger ending that couldn’t be ignored. I know we got MHX, but that looks like more of an alternative to the original rather than a full remake

@Friendly I think that’s only the case with the Nintendo Switch versions. I’ve seen physical releases for the PS4 versions, even for the ones that didn’t get any on Switch

I know it’s been complained about numerous times, but I’m sick of everything getting leaked. A lot of exciting announcements have been significantly deflated because of them lately. Also, the Prime games aren’t mainline? That doesn’t make much sense. Why is stuff like Super Mario 64 considered mainline then?

Does this suck? Yeah. Do I care? Kind of, but not that much. I like physical copies, but at this point I’m starting to go for older consoles like the Wii, while it’s going to be digital for current consoles. Plus, collecting old games has made it a lot easier for me to realize how overblown the physical situation is. Missing instruction manuals? Those have been obsolete for years. The endurance? Dude, I can’t leave my games alone without even a tiny bit of worry that something will happen to them. I’m constantly panicking when waiting for physical games to get shipped (and there are hardly any retro stores near me) because they might be damaged, have scratches, or be fake. And the worst part? I recently learned about disc rot. So no matter what, even if it takes years, all of my disc-based games will likely be unusable at some point. Hopefully well after I’m gone, but that still sucks. The value of ownership? I feel the exact same way with my digital games because I don’t do shady things with my console that could warrant the license being taken. I buy a game, I use the game. Just like how it was with physical, except I can’t sell it, which is something I don’t desire to do. Ultimately, no matter what, there’s going to be roadblocks with this kind of stuff

They survived the PS3 days, I’m sure they’ll figure a way to make things work out anyway

@xmkbest $50 is cheap for a first party game, and it definitely had a lot of effort put into it. And not every game needs to be 30+ hours long. You’re meant to go back to find new routes or improve your skills. The value ultimately lies within how it never gets old

Bought a Walmart-brand 512GB card because I didn’t have enough space to download FFVIIRemake. Luckily, that’s the only big game I have right now (and care to purchase at the moment), so it’s doing the job for me.

@metaphysician They’re still RPGs, though. Extremely lengthy campaigns, complex mechanics, and unexciting for those who want something to just jump into and don’t need to be all that invested in.

The direct thing has become so stupid and overblown. Yes, the negativity reached drastic heights, but it sure felt like the positive side was consistently behaving in a very stuck up and patronizing manner and seemed completely ignorant as to why we were unhappy, quickly chalking it up to “they’re just selfish and unwilling to try new things”. There was not a lot of variety in it. There might have been something for everyone, but acting like there was so much variety in it seems crazy to me. Kingdom Hearts 4. Fire Emblem. Final Fantasy. Woo-hoo. Three JRPGs that look the same as any other JRPGs we’ve gotten in the past decade. Don’t care? You’re in a dark spot. You’re whining about the lack of a 3D Mario? Go play that one game that looks completely different and just learn to be happy. So much biased behavior and back-and-forth arguments that it’s become extremely annoying to talk about it.

Sonic Superstars - honestly might be my favorite, stands out, conveys the multiplayer aspect, and uses the classic style without using the older art style like Mania and Origins

Sonic X Shadow Generations - the same thing as the original HD version box art except Shadow’s in the center, which would be fine if it weren’t for the fact his campaign is drastically inferior

Sonic Frontiers - good, but looks like any other Sonic game to me

NA. Easily the best of the golden box arts (not that they’re hard to beat) and gives the game a majestic feel, while Europe, while good, definitely loses a bit of the Zelda magic

Really hoping they get bored and update the first Battle Network collection to add Operate Shooting Star as another version of the first game. Will it ever happen? Probably not, but who knows?

They should offer a white version as another regular option, but other than that I think the current sku looks great

@Triple_Cherries I’m crossing my fingers that they initially planned the sequel as an upgrade pack that would try to fix the issues of the first game, but instead they opted to just make a new game with a different structure and a fixed content unlocking method

@Friendly They’ve already raised the price in Japan and sales are falling, so it’s fair to expect the same to happen when the other regions get hit. Xenoblade and Fire Emblem aren’t going to do much to mitigate that effect. You need system sellers. Every console does. That’s what saved the 3DS (as well as a price cut). Like it or not, most people buy Nintendo consoles for the major exclusives. Now for me personally, I need system sellers because…they’re why I bought the system in the first place. If I had know we weren’t going to be getting a new 3D Mario before 2027, I would’ve been way cooler with sticking to my Switch. I’m still glad I bought it, but it does very much feel like I just bought a Switch Pro, and we never left the Switch 1 generation. It should also be noted that not everyone has the time and money to invest in multiple games. When you can only invest in one game for several months, you want to get something you know you’ll enjoy. That’s why so many people buy Mario Kart (both 8DX and World). Everyone knows Mario Kart delivers hours worth of enjoyment (though they had to have been scheming with that $80 price tag on World to get people to opt for buying the bundle for a discount). So, with that in mind, why would you buy the game with the hairy chimp and the Disney-looking kid at $70 if what you know and love is the red-capped mustache man (yeah, yeah, there is a demo, I know)? Or why would you give a crap about the game with the anime sword fighters when what you love is the man in green who visits all the locales you remember from your childhood (I’m not saying people want a brand new Zelda, I’m saying most people would rather just wait for the OoT remake instead of buying one of the bajillion JRPGs)? Or why would you care about all the realistic looking third party games with monsters and stuff that look the darn same to you and feature mature content when what you love is games that you and all your friends and family can enjoy? I’m sorry, but hardly anything in the direct (or what has been released for this console) either appealed or stood out to me. If they had just split it into a partner showcase and a direct mini, then I would have immediately known it was not going to appeal to me and I would have skimped out on watching it. But instead, after nine months without a traditional direct, they announced this direct as it is, in the middle of the summer, thus setting high expectations that they failed to meet when what we got was essentially the same thing in March. It was disappointing. I’m happy people who wanted more third party titles and updates to their games are happy, but to me, this felt like a total misfire.
