Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Biggest Gaming Regrets

SpeedRunRocks

Worked at a used game shop in 2010 and I was too broke to buy GBC Metal Gear Solid for 15 bucks. Finally picked it up last year for way more than that. I regret nothing.

Edit: Oh yeah and my older brother giving me our GameCube after getting a Wii, but keeping our full run of Resident Evil titles. 6 months later he moves to a new place and LOSES THEM ALL.

So yeah, I regret being the youngest brother and having zero say in any kind of application of logic or decision making when dealing with a FIFA drone.

Re: Soapbox: The Era Of Rock Band, Guitar Hero And Plastic Instruments Was Silly But Special

Ahh, the Rock Band drumset.

To actual drummers it played like garbage, but a generation or two grew up thinking that's what real drumming was, and now most drummers I know are obsessed with matching the zero-action, zero-resistance nature of the Rock Band bass drum pedal and electronically triggering every component of their kit.

The human element has all but been removed from music since then.

Guitar Hero 3 was fun though. The last time classic-style hard rock was viewed in a positive light before society as a whole became too weak to process the sound of the electric guitar without having a panic attack.

Anyone here in or around Denver, Colorado, or planning to go there, there's a place on the north side called Akihabara that has a couple rows of Sega Astro cabinets.

One of them has the "Black Label Another Ver." version of this along with Deathsmiles, Pink Sweets and Muchi Muchi Pork.

There's also a giant screen NeoGeo sit-down thing with Blazing Star in it.

Knight of the Round looks to be the only true representative of the Heavy Metal genre in this group.

SpeedRun has played with them a couple times. A little computer-dependent and 'modern' for my tastes as far as Metal is concerned, but they're pretty damn good.

The number of solo artists on this is slightly discouraging. But this is coming from a drummer looking for musicians that happen to like old video game music but aren't creeps or flakes, and aren't going to look down their nose at the fact that I've developed a unique talent on my own despite never attending music/art college.

Turns out that's pretty difficult. Anyone out there dig the music of Priest and Maiden and Megadeth as much as Zelda 2 and Mario 3 and Tecmo Super Bowl, and also play guitar? Asking for a friend.

A friend giving me a Saturn and my subsequent dive into the internet Saturn rabbit hole is what finally tore me away from Octopath.

Been rocking Fire Pro 6men Scramble. Looks pretty good through my early HD-era Samsung that still has an S-Video port.

Virtua Fighter 2 and Dynamite Deka should be in my hands this week. Sexy Parodius and the Nights Into Dreams 3D controller combo are next on the list.

@Sabroni
You can switch between the hit being registered on either the swing (for non-drummers) or the sudden stop.

I bought the JP version thinking there's no way this will come to the US.

Nobody over here cares about:
a) classical music
b) heavy metal in standard tuning
c) music played on real instruments
d) the drums in general
e) any combination of the above.

If anyone here in the states can dispute that in any way, please hit me up and let's start a band. I'm the 'real deal' on the drums.

That makes three! I 'retired as champion' after I conquered all of my friends with Kirby in OG Smash at a birthday party in like 2000.

I was the only non-N64 owner, instead I did some owning of my, um, own.

A lot of moves from Kirby Super Star we're the same button combinations in Smash. Otherwise I suuuucked at that game. Still do!

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (Switch)

SpeedRunRocks

Reading the part about the music being too 'extreme' made me cringe. Do you even Warriors, bro?

Over-the-top renditions of the source music is one of the main defining aspects of these games.

Do people not realize that True Heavy Metal is the modern-day equivalent to classical music? All of the elements are there, now with electricity!

You pulled the same crap on the FEW review. "The music is too much!!" Dude, no it's not. Listen to Iron Maiden. Listen to Judas Priest. Know what the hell you're talking about before bashing it, then go back to your Ed Sheeran records.
