Man, hands down my favorite game of all time. I still have the SNES cart of this game (though I'm sure the battery and my saves are long dead by now.)
About 15 years ago I managed to get a ROM and an SNES emulator, and I've been playing that version on and off ever since. If they make a physical copy of the original game (I prefer the old names like Shiva Edge to Suzaku, and Dark Ages to Tranquility, for example) for the Switch or 3DS, I'll definitely buy several copies of the cart.
@RetroGamerAndrew oh no. The review got me a bit pumped up (grinding, loot, local multiplayer) until I saw the rating and your comment. So now I'm not sure.
If I may ask, what parts let you down?
Edit: the MonHun shoutout piqued my interest in particular.
"World War II cost the lives of millions, but this game will only set you back $9.99 USD / €9.99 / £8.99 at launch."
@damo this seems a bit insensitive. I have family members who suffered unspeakable things during WWII...but hey, this game will just cost me a bit of change.
@Pod yup. Identical gameplaywise aside from the sparkle when they enter combat. So I don't feel bad about trading them away if I get Pokedex or combat-useful Pokemon in return.
@Pod just extra bling. Also since they have high trade value in the mainline games, breeding shinies with perfect IVs and egg moves allowed me to trade up to get very good legendaries to round out my collection back in XY.
Zany is right! I get what they're emulating, but something feels off with this game. Might be the speed or not enough of a Japanese audience laugh track.
While it would be nice to see the whole collection in one cart, I'm OK with just having the first three games. I've had mixed experience with the other titles.
@stevenw45 now imagine several thousand people mashing on those two Game Boys at the same time and you couldn't stop it.
A giant, clusterpoop of sweaty, smelly, hands, just reaching out trying to push the player down a ledge, snickering, smiling, laughing, farting in your face. There is no space to breath, no space to move. You are surrounded by pure chaos (and bellies, because you'll likely be kneeling on the floor as people surround you like a sick, twisted nerd orgy.) Sure, you can beat two games solo, but can you beat off the other players? (OK I meant fight off, but beat off was funnier.)
That's essentially Twitch Plays Pokemon. And it is hilarious. Bird Jesus forevah.
@DEZn00ts whoa, whoa, calm down. It's not the size of the text (which they said they'll fix on Octopath Traveller, thank goodness) it's the overall layout that concerns me. Would require considerable overhaul of the UI to look good on handheld, and, well, I don't have much faith in Capcom doing anything at the moment.
Text aside, MHW is a really massive game which is taxing even the PS4. So I wouldn't fault Capcom for not bringing it to the (honestly weaker, but still lovely) Switch.
MHXX for the West is another matter, though. I'm upset they have not announced that.
I had a blast playing Portal Knights, but I'm all burned out from building stuff for now. Since DQBuilders is too similar to the game loop of Portal Knights, I'll pass on this game for now. Maybe down the line.
A student is totally into cat girls. Too bad she doesn't have a Switch. Will probably go for the PC version. I on the other hand, will also pass on this game. Cool that plenty visual novels are making their way to the Switch, though.
Love fishing games, but will wait for reviews on this one. "2007" and "mobile port" are raising too many flags for me. If it's like the 3DS streetpass fishing game though, I'm in.
@CaPPa I wish that were the case! But they really went all out on the game design of MHW, and there are a lot of things going on at the same time.
Regarding the areas, they aren't really that "separate" anymore. Many are linked with tunnels and narrow passages, each with its own gathering nodes. I suppose they could move those nodes to other areas, but it would change the layout of the maps. And the monsters can chase you down those passage ways. (Which is quite an exciting experience!)
There's also plenty of bokeh effect for various shots, though I'm sure Capcom can easily remove those.
The menu layout is also really full of text now. (more real estate on the TV screen) which as we've seen on Octopath Traveler Demo's tiny font, is a problem for the Switch. Capcom probably could redesign the layout, though given that it's Capcom, I am not optimistic of that happening. :/
Honestly, if they would just give us localized MonHun XX on Switch (or even 3DS!!!) that would tide me over until a proper MonHun for Switch is developed. Really hoping Capcom is just protecting the MHW hype for a while and will eventually announce MHGU.
After seeing my younger brother play MHW on his PS4, I now understand why Capcom is non-committal about a Switch port. As good as our beloved Nintendo console is, I really doubt there is a way for it to run MHW, even with toned down graphics.
The size of the game is just too much, unfortunately.
MHGU would be a safer bet, but Capcom has been maddeningly non-committal about that, as well.
@Heavyarms55 when you need your LoL / DoTA2 fix and your PC isn't around, a phone will do XD
There are a lot of hardcore MOBA enthusiasts in my area (I am not one of them) and I see them playing on their phones at restaurants. It's a bit silly, but then again I can't criticize them when I've got a Switch in my hands. XD

Re: '90s Classic Another World Makes The Leap To Switch This Spring
One of my favorite childhood games. Really interesting gameplay and haunting graphics for its time! That cat-beast thing at the start gave me fits!
Re: Switch Helped Nintendo Grab 22 Percent Of The Games Market In 2017
Another win for the Switch!
Re: Video: Sail Across A Flat Earth As Neo Atlus 1469 Heads For Switch This April
Been keeping an eye on this for a while now. This is my kind of game. Relaxing(ish) and just a little bit odd.
Re: Random: You Can Now Play NES Games In 3D And In Virtual Reality
Would this work on Samsung VR?
Re: JRPG-Inspired Detective Game Pixel Noir Is In Development For Nintendo Switch
New timed hit mechanics for skills including button sequences and d-pad rotation!
Not sure how I feel about this. While Fractured But Whole was fantastic, sometimes I just want a relaxing turn-based combat system.
Re: The Studio That Ported Skyrim To Switch Wants To Tackle Monster Hunter World Next
Good for the team to propose, but I have a bad feeling that Capcom won't listen.
Re: This Zelda: Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid Is Much Cuter Than We Remember
@Sir_Anthony I know, right? So adorable! They also made the "head" of the guardian bigger, making the ratio closer to a proper nendoroid. XD
Re: This Zelda: Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid Is Much Cuter Than We Remember
Really tempted to pick this up. It's so adorable!!!!

How does this compare to Coma:Recut? I bought that one and enjoyed it.

Re: Guide: How Does PAYDAY 2 On Switch Compare To Other Console Versions?
Was really excited when I saw that John Wick would be in the Switch version.
The rest of the article has given me pause, however. Just like Rime, I will probably just wait this out and see what happens.

Re: TwitchPlaysPokémon Is Back, This Time Playing Pokémon Red And Blue Simultaneously
@stevenw45 it was an attempt at humor. Unfortunately it didn't seem like it came across correctly. 😅 My apologies.

@DEZn00ts no worries, man! We're all passionate about games here. I hope that more fantastic titles come to the Switch soon!
Re: Look, Capcom Knows You Really Want Monster Hunter World On Switch
Please give us MHXX Western version to tide us over.
Re: Portal Knights Gets A Retail Release In North America, Plus Chinese New Year Content
@Kimyonaakuma yeah the only reason I played Portal Knights is becasue DQ Builders didn't come out before it.
Also the multiplayer feature in Portal Knights. It was fun seeing my friends' houses.

Re: Switch Now Has Three Times As Many Games as Wii U Did At This Point In Its Lifecycle
@Saego the sad part is that they already have MH:XX for Switch.
It's MH:GU (or GG) that's missing. Still holding out hope they'll launch it after MHW has had its time in the sun.
Re: Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Will Light Up The Nintendo Switch This Holiday Season
AMAZING! Was just looking at this game a week back, and wondering if I should buy it for PC.
Now it's an insta-buy for me for the Switch!
Re: Switch Now Has Three Times As Many Games as Wii U Did At This Point In Its Lifecycle
I will say this about the Wii U, at least it had a Western Monster Hunter game. I hope Capcom announces something for the Switch, soon!

Re: Review: Oxenfree (Switch eShop)
Got this at 75% off and just started getting into it this week. Beautiful game. Love the atmosphere and voice acting and music.
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend?
Oxenfree.
Re: Smartphone Firm GREE Is Bringing Fishing Star To The Switch eShop
The trailer for the mobile version looks, um, weird.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wfda4MdovGQ
Also looks like there'll be a gatcha system, which I don't find appealing at all.
Re: Random: Orchestra Pranks Conductor With An Impromptu Rendition Of The Mii Channel Tune
I LOVE that theme!!!!!!!!!
Also, as a former orchestra member (alto sax) this was doubly enjoyable for me. 😁

That NA box cover. 😂😂😂 He wasn't even a boy nor a robot. He was a futuristic cop with a raygun. 😆
Re: Review: Tennis (Switch eShop)
Shame. Was looking for something to scratch my Wii Tennis itch. If I remember correctly, my Mii had a rating of 2,100 in that game.
Re: Aquarium Management Game Abyssrium is Floating Towards a Switch Release
I love aquariums and fishing in general (loved the 3DS streetpass fishing game) but I'll wait and see what this offers. Seems very plain.

@MaSSiVeRiCaN OH! Then I'll go pick this up then.
(I may have mistaken this with Crawl, which I plan to get once it's on sale.)
Re: My Time at Portia Bringing Dungeon Exploring Fun To Switch Later This Year
@BenAV man, I remember the Fantasy Life trailer. That was epic. Gave me goosebumps and totally sold me on the game.
Gotta admit, recalling that trailer does weaken the impact of this My Time at Portia trailer.
Re: OPUS: Rocket of Whispers Will Soon Be Making Its Way To Switch
Still waiting for the first one to go on sale, then I'll pick it up. Still working through Oxenfree.
Re: My Time at Portia Bringing Dungeon Exploring Fun To Switch Later This Year
Proper Fantasy Life would be a dream come true!
But this one looks intriguing as well. Will be watching out for it.
