It was a bit sluggish, but I haven't played a Warriors game since PS2, so the heavy Zelda paint job, diverse move sets, on the fly character switching, progression, and new takes on cooking and crafting have me sold completely.
I'll actually have a reason to use screenshots to compare locations when I boot up BOTW during breaks. I'm excited.
I could see this happening in the shadows, and then switch getting games that have previously lived on PlayStation and XBox, with little fanfare about the behind the scenes.
Oh my holy cow a brand new Paper Mario RPG with a Labo hammer and various other pieces would be amazing! I'm a Labo supporter and I'm sad that the VR kit was probably the peak of the whole project.
@HappyMaskedGuy Same. While wonderful 101 holds some sort of esteem, Nier: Automata is a bona fide masterpiece, and bumped the writer up to director of Astral Chain. Getting Nier into as many hands as possible should be the priority.
I loved Astral Chain. The long levels and succinctly segmented gameplay styles hooked the hell out of me. The timing based combat that wasn't focused on face buttons was fresh, and once you're switching between all five legions, holy empowerment.
Epic Mickey 1+2 HD collection would go over swimmingly in my book. I liked the second one just as much as the first. They're like 3D Mario and Zelda mixed together, with Disney magic that wasn't afraid of a little Burton-esque whimsical darkness. Touch up the camera and be sure to keep motion controls and I'm there day one.
@John_Koshiro The IGN staff notoriously picks on that reviewer, it was highly regarded pretty much everywhere else. Unless you already know this and I fell for it.
@PickledKong64 Yeah I love both Returns and Tropical Freeze. I really dig platformers. Not necessarily twitch platformers (I like Celeste though) but I guess I prefer what I would call "character platformers."
I'm glad to see all the Death Stranding love. I started around 9 AM and came up for air at 4 PM. I also bought New Super Lucky's Tale which is great and I'm loving the playable cartoon that is Luigi's Mansion. Rock on.
I'm in love with Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair and also bought Yooka Laylee early on, but that was when I was still playing BOTW and I just haven't gotten back to it yet. I'm super happy these guys are still making games. Keep it up!
Just bought this on wiiU vc at 2 AM November 2nd 2019. I was just playing Luigi's Mansion 3 and for some reason didn't want to carry my Switch upstairs. Alcohol was involved.
At the ripe age of twelve, I bought Code Veronica and the guide day one when it was a Dreamcast exclusive and moved our recliner to the middle of the living room, turned off the lights and played all night for a week straight. It remains a high mark in my gaming career.
I absolutely dig it. I picked it up Friday but spent the weekend at a horror movie convention. When I got up this morning I went straight into playing and forty minutes later I was exercised, energized, and thoroughly impressed. I will see results with this and it's genuinely fun.
@ALinkttPresent NES Zelda has a row of screens that are accessable through a burning bush glitch due to the number of vertical and horizontal screens needing to fit a specific ratio. Sounds similar.
I'm 100% interested in playing these levels, and I've played the developer levels you've shared, but I wish it didn't all feel like a secret handshake. These levels aren't anywhere to be found on the "News" tab on the switch, and the search that came with the last firmware update is useless. I love Nintendo, but when a keyword search for "Mario" yields zero results, one starts to wonder if they're still in on the joke.
@Heavyarms55 That's really interesting, because the shirt I bought from this sale was the white sweater with the black profile of Link and no English because I don't really care for clothes with words on them. Kind of a similar thing.
@sanderev Any reason why you switched your user account in the video? Also, when you went to internet settings, did you just exit the internet settings menu? I have users on my Switch that don’t even have Nintendo Network ID’s and I know that blocks usage outright. It’s too bad there’s so many caveats.
Wow that was a great way to remind me I had 900 and some gold points so I snagged all three for about 11$. So flipping cool. I then played Doom for two hours and forgot to save anywhere before I died.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is sold out physical in my area, I’m so upset. I just went digital for Yoshi and Mario Maker 2, for some reason I have to alternate my digital-physical ratio.
I played my N64 on a Houangyang 13” color tv I got for Christmas that never died. I’ve hooked up old consoles via s-video to hd tv’s and it’s fine. You’re kidding yourself if you honestly want anything more. As long as the entire picture is on screen and there is no input lag, I’m good to go.
Over a year old, 100’s of hours on Zelda, Xenoblade 2, Mario, etc. , and thankfully I’ve had zero issues. For the record I play on plain gray joy-con, 2 pair. I do have a pro controller, but as a firm Labo supporter, the Joy-Con are genius devices in my opinion. Hopefully they can address this across the board because if they fix the stick, but drop other features, I’ll be mightily disappointed.
I’m buying this sucker and I know what I’m in for. It looks to be much the same as the first two, a dungeon crawling button masher without a huge amount of strategy or combat depth. Putting together teams and leveling up a huge roster of characters through a comic book storyline guaranteed to be Saturday Morning Cartoon hokey is exactly what I want. It’s perfect for summer, a couple of buddies and a box of cereal.
I’m buying this game and the season pass. I want it, I’m going to play it by myself and co-op with my best friend, just like we played the first two. It looks great and just with the starting roster, leveling up each character and creating dream-teams will be plenty worth the price for this Marvel fan.
Love Hollow Knight, I’ve played about 30 hours and have barely scratched the surface. I’m really looking forward to this game and was surprised and pleased in the announcement. I’m going to dive back into the first one here soon in anticipation.
I’m a huge fan of Nier: Automata, this was a buy for me when I saw the first trailer. I’m inclined to agree that it will be an amazing exclusive and the treehouse presentation was stellar.
@RickD I’m still playing it. Just going through the main games, I haven’t gone all the way through the plaza or opened up the VR garage yet. I was hyped for the Blaster but built it last so I’ve barely scratched the surface of that. Honestly there’s a lot to do and I’ve played a good few hours with Zelda that kind of sidetracked me from Labo. I actually really like Zelda in VR, I just wish you could see the mini-map.
I don’t know if it’s a quality control issue, but Hulu and YouTube both run so much more efficiently and smoothly on my Switch than on my PS4. I’ve used my PS4’s as “entertainment hubs” for years, but even the PS3 did it better. P.S. I’m not hating on Sony, just an observation. And it isn’t an internet issue.
After the big grocery shop of the month, my sister and I split up, she went to get the plants for the garden and I went and bought some Copic Fine Liner Pens and a variety of very nice watercolors. Which is to say I also swooped through Ye Olde Game Store and grabbed Final Fantasy XII, with that painterly style I might just be inspired.
Really looking forward to this. After getting back into BOTW and just cracking into Wind Waker HD, my goal of constantly playing Zelda games is seemingly going well.
@WomboCombo A consistently well-written newer Marvel character, with an attached audience, which is incredibly difficult to do. Marvel has a tough time doing this, but her book has that Marvel special something, like Spider-Man. Worth checking out.
I absolutely loved Nier: Automata, one of my favorites, full stop. I’m really looking forward to Astral Chain and I’m kind of hoping THAT game is the open world game, which the little bit of footage seems to be hinting at. Bayonetta 3 could go that way, but I don’t think it will, a furthering of the formula from 1&2 would be great and could then be packaged as a trilogy that shows the evolution, a la Metroid Prime: Trilogy.
I like Zelda VR. It’s just blurry. I like aiming the bow where I’m looking. I wish it were clearer, but I don’t think it’s a failure. The Labo VR kit I actually really like and think it’s awesome, full stop. Absolutely packed with neat content. I would also play more Mario, the idea was keen, but oh so slight.
I’ve never been interested before, but this got me looking at Sony’s offering.
I read the article and reacted poorly, but didn’t watch the video at first. After hearing Alex’s whole experience I do feel bad for him, and those afflicted. It’s important to remember there’s a human behind the typing.
Jesus this feels tone-deaf to the Nth degree. I didn’t realize the majority of the gaming public have never been to a 3D movie, flown in a plane or, I don’t know, driven a car. I guess no one here likes roller-coasters, skiing, snowboarding or has ever been interested in skydiving or bungee jumping. Or perhaps you all work below the 5th floor of an office building? Take a f***ing Dramamine.
@gcunit Right? Why does every review feel like a caveat? It’s downright genius and should honestly be rubbed in the face of every “super-serious future-of-gaming” VR available now. Nintendo just shrugged out a fully capable VR solution with a couple of stickers. Lets all downplay it, I guess.
