@impurekind There is a “hand” that you select like any other tool, which does allow you to move whatever you select with it within the 3D space. It works great, but the criticism in the review is referring to the fact that your head cannot move by any degree beyond a 360 pivot.
I find Breath of the Wild VR to be absolutely breathtaking, but I have absolutely zero problems with motion sickness. I’m not on board with a Switch mini, but I would absolutely give a high-res Switch all the monies. That said, it’s hardly a dealbreaker for me, I’m all in. I actually really enjoy every aspect of the VR kit prior to the Zelda and Mario update. The camera is getting a lot of flak, but I really think people are judging it based on a “missed opportunity” feeling, wanting it to be Pokemon Snap. There’s hours and hours of enjoyable content here, and that’s before the opportunity of future updates to existing and/or upcoming titles.
Let’s get some Shin Megami Tensei V news then. Or how ‘bout a Persona collection announcement at E3? Or both. I’m not necessarily disappointed, I do have a PS4 in my living room and my game room, so I suppose P5R is still an option.
@Godzil
I think the forehead pad is that little darker gray strip on the lighter gray strip near the top, which, in that case, who knows how well it will work.
I ordered one. I’ve been slowly going through each piece every day this week and I’m loving every minute of it. I’ll move on to the bird tomorrow and have the weekend for the Blaster, then by the time this ships in I’ll be ready for the Mario and Zelda updates. I’ll be starting Zelda over, frame rate and motion blur be damned.
Having never played Cuphead on any other device I am having absolutely no issues with the Joy Con attached. Sure I die plenty but it’s me, not the controls. I’m playing stock also, didn’t feel the need to customize. I think the Joy Con agonizing is way overblown, but I guess I don’t have sausage fingers?
Oh and I had major car repairs so I played a bunch of Cuphead and Blaster Master Zero 2 at the garage, stopped at Ye Olde Game store on the way home and finally bought Smash + The Fighters pass. Upon arrival at home my Labo VR was patiently waiting in its delivery box, so I’m diving in there just now. Games, yay.
@iamDTS I’m not making things up. I have checked, Best Buy just now only has the starter kit and Amazon is still out of stock. I’m not insinuating it’s some portent of astronomical sales or something, just an observation.
I cannot find either Labo VR kit in-store anywhere near me (upstate NY) nor is it available at any online retailer at the moment. I don’t know if it’s a stock issue or what, but I am interested, so much so that I had it preordered, but had to cancel because of car trouble. Turns out I jumped the gun because my car is fine, but now I have to wait for stock.
I’m stoked for this. I had to cancel my preorder because this weekend I’m playing “brakes and rotors.” Fingers crossed I can unlock the “passes inspection” achievement. I hear the game really opens up after.
@Charlie_Girl I’ve only recently joined because it’s mostly pleasant, but I’ve been a reader for a while. I generally refrain from any unpleasantness, but this is pathetic.
I’m not surprised, but disappointed in the cynicism on display in regards to these two people even remotely possibly engaging in the very human act of enjoying a game together. The very thing that brings us to this site, is somehow diminished in the eyes of those either incapable or unwilling to allow someone’s success be differentiated from basic human needs, like understanding, compassion, community and friendship. Shame on you.
Oh my god, I’ve already preordered the full-fat VR Kit before even seeing the first video. I wasn’t expecting this at all really, I just love Labo, and now I’m kind of freaking out. This is very cool!
Like others I’m waiting for the physical of Cuphead. My nephew is buying MK11 for PS4, so I’m off the hook there. I got Labo preordered. I was a sucker and bought FFVII this week, and Blaster Master Zero 2 has been great. So I’m looking at FFXII ‘cause I haven’t touched it. I’m down the rabbit hole on like 5 different RPG’s that I rotate, and use indie’s as palette cleanser’s when I’m unable to devote hours. That said, I’ll probably get Yoshi when I’m waiting for my car to get an oil change tomorrow. Yikes.
I loved the original Blaster Master on the NES despite thinking the game had something to do with Mad Max. Bought Zero for the 3DS, but never really played it. When I saw the Nindie announcement for Zero 2 I double dipped on the first and grabbed the second. It’s just a neat design, I wish more action games had an overworld and dungeons. Hope they do a #3.
I liked it, it was fun. Unlike many others I had zero performance issues in the entire time I spent in the demo. I don’t mind the silent protagonist and I love messing with builds and gear, I just hope there’s some story here. Either way, I’m buying.
What a thoughtful, well put together video, and a nice trip down memory lane. His speech for Iwata was touching. I’ll miss the big galoot. I didn’t know he was responsible for the Big Foot Pizza, when I was a kid, renting a game and picking up a pizza was Saturday night bliss.
I already preordered this bad boy (the $80 set) and I’m under no illusions as to what I’m going to get: a damn good time customizing and assembling the kits with my family and from-the-ground-up Nintendo made software. I’m hyped for all the right reasons.
$49.99 for a (likely) smyth-sewn, hardcover, full color, gloss-paged, illustrated, large-format book is not expensive. Try making one.
EDIT: Sorry, that sounds snarky, my other hobby after gaming is book and comic book collecting, and much like physical Nintendo games, most quality books retain their value.
Just DL'd The Witness on PS+, but on the Nintendo side, I'm still rocking out both Xenoblade 2 and recently grabbed a really nice Wii U used so I started Xenoblade X and I've been bouncing between NSO original Zelda and A Link to the Past on my 3DS. Actually, I'm always playing a Zelda title.
Having just played and beaten the GBC Link’s Awakening out of genuine excitement for the remake, I’ll be satisfied with it for Easter Eggs and the art style alone, and pleasantly surprised by any extra content. A completely separate title is icing on the cake.
I bought all three kits this past Christmas for my nephews and niece and we’ve had a blast with them. The Piano has gotten the most use and I like to use the wheel for Mario Kart. I looked to see if I could preorder this immediately. Also, this is my first post here ever.
