And just like that, yet another week has gone and passed us by. We've had a pretty huge sale on the eShop and finalised Nintendo E3 plans to get all excited about over the last few days, but now it's time to sit back and talk about how we'll be enjoying our weekends. We've shared our gaming plans below, but we'd love to hear what you're up to in the comments and poll sections below. Enjoy!

My partner and I have been experiencing all the fun of the fair recently, with the fair being attempting to get on the sodding property ladder. It’s been consuming all of our spare time so I’ve decided that this weekend I’m going to say knackers to all that, and spend as much time as possible playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dragon’s Dogma, and potentially even fire up my shiny new PS4 Pro for some non-Nintendo Spider-Man based action. Traitorous, I know.

This weekend, I plan to really get into the Pokémon spirit with the release of Detective Pikachu and dig out all of my old games for some nostalgia-induced entertainment. I’ll also try to get a little further into Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - which I’m very glad I finally picked up - as well as continuing to attempt to play My Time at Portia (even though the in-game load times have made it tough to enjoy).
Regardless of load speeds, Portia is an entertaining game when it does work, and it’s keeping me occupied until Animal Crossing arrives - so I keep coming back!

Despite having completed it back in 2011 and having played it for over 13 hours for its review, I still can't stop playing Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package. Sometimes you just need to throw yourself into oncoming traffic to rack up some insurance fraud or blow up entire streets with an exploding quad bike. Glorious.
This weekend I'll also be taking another ageing shooter for a spin in the form of Sniper Elite V2 Remastered. Now I can burst Nazi brains in X-ray slow-mo whenever, wherever. What's not to love? I'll also be trying out the colourful roguelike adventures of For The King, with its tabletop RPG sensibilities. I'm nothing if not eclectic.

Considering the huge sale that went live on Thursday, I shall be spending most of this weekend trying to resist buying games I already own elsewhere. I bought and completed the original SteamWorld Dig on 3DS and thoroughly enjoyed it, and I’ve got SteamWorld Heist sitting on my laptop after bagging it in a Humble Bundle, if memory serves. When Switch began accruing masses of third-party games, I promised myself I wouldn’t buy duplicates… but it’s increasingly tempting at these prices and having them on Switch increases the likelihood I’ll play them by about 500%.
So yes, I definitely won’t be playing SteamWorld Heist this weekend. Nope.

After an insufferable two weeks of refreshing package delivery status, my addiction to physical media has been at last soothed with the excellent Japan exclusive Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen special edition along with Mortal Kombat 11, the latter of which comes just in time for the in-game currency bribe patch landing on Switch.
Add some Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Saints Row: The Third and Dragon Ball FighterZ back in the rotation and you've got the perfect recipe for a most fun/violent weekend. Still on the subject of fun and violence, my game of the week obviously goes to the long-awaited Shakedown: Hawaii, the most 16-bit game never made in the 1990s.

This weekend I'll be getting back to my Banjo-Kazooie playthrough and hopefully nearing the end of Yoshi's Crafted World. With Banjo, I've now made it to areas that I can't really remember from my childhood and things are suddenly getting that little bit harder. I'm determined to make it to the end, though, so I'll keep at it.
Yoshi is another story, though. I loved Yoshi's Woolly World on Wii U and was hoping for similar things here despite not being quite as convinced by the early trailers. Sadly, Crafted World just isn't cutting it like its predecessor did. I can't quite put my finger on why, but getting to the end is starting to feel like a chore rather than a joy; hopefully whatever comes next for Yoshi is a step back in the right direction.
Which games are you playing this weekend? (312 votes)

Ninja Gaiden Arcade. My inner 1988 is going crazy right now since it was released on the Switch yesterday. >_<
VA-11 HALL-A, Umihara Kawase Fresh! and Enter the Gungeon.
On switch I'll still be trying to get through Tales of Vesperia. Loving it but into the post game which has gotten slightly grindey.
Skyrim and beer for me today. Lots of both
Yea we have every Steamworld but the actual NEW Steanworld game that came out in the last two or so weeks?
I’ll be continuing my final grind in Dragon Quest 7 for 3DS (with my aim to finish the game by next weekend) but I’m also going to enjoy Steam World Dig 2 which I just got on Nintendo Europe’s digital sale.
(My 3DS refuses to die!)
Toejam and Earl (Mega Drive)
Out Run
Super Castlevania IV
Shadows of Adam
This weekend is QUIRKY 3DS games ! 😜

I played these games :
1. Miitopia
Keep leveling up my team. Already got some Legendary equipments. 😁
2. Tomodachi Life

Playing some Random mini games at Amusement Park, take photo at Park and the photographer showed me my photo like this.
@charlieonholiday You're gonna love Steamworld Dig 2!
@BacklogBlues Every SteamWorld game except the one that came out in hte last two or so weeks, the one before that and the first one...
Going to continue my playthrough of steam world dig 2. I’ve now got quite a bit further than I did the first time I played it. Really enjoying it this time round.
Might also play a bit of Smash as I’ve not touched it in weeks and I’ve still not completed the adventure mode - it’s sooo god damn long!
I’ve finished up Chrono Trigger which was amazing.
I’m about 15 hours into Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse, and I’m addicted.
I haven’t played IV (yet) but I heard IV Apocalypse has a weaker story and characters but more refined gameplay. An easier map, and no early difficulty spike like IV has.
It is a fantastic entry point so I’m glad I started here. The story doesn’t seem weak or disappointing when ignorant to the comparison. And I can then play IV and appreciate the themes later on.
Dark Souls and SteamWorld Heist for me
Mr Grizz needs his eggs!
Hook the PS3 up for some ultra street fighter 4 online fun
My time at portia.
Cuphead really enyoing this gem!
Capcom beat um up collection.
And the messenger going to start it right now 😍
I have bought a lot of games for the switch lately but no idea what I will play or just play a backlog game.
Starting with some paladins topping it off with Civ 6 and Skyrim.
My son is playing Smash at every opportunity. I’ve played some Tetris 99 and Wolf 2 so far but it’s my Wedding Anniversary weekend and I’ll probably not get much more gaming in lol. Have a nice weekend everyone.
Maybe get back into Smash until the Castlevania Collection. I also need to finish VA-11 HALL-A as I bought that one a while back on PC but never completed it.
I’ve done a great job on the backlog this month. Completed Golf Story, Red Dead 2, and DMC5. I might go back to Red Dead 2 eventually and complete those side quest (fishing side quest Zzzzzz) but that main story line alone burnt me out on the game for a while.
Just finished Yoshi's Crafted World and I agree with Ryan Craddock: it is a good game, but something is holding it back from being a great game. I don't know what that is.
But now, with that finished, I can start Steamworld Quest!
finally got my copy of Danmaku in the post so will be all over that with my flipgrip. the game is incredible!
For me this weekend, it's:
Yoshi's Crafted World, Nintendo LABO Toy Con 04 - VR Kit and Kingdom Hearts 3 which I've been wanting to play for a while. Sure, it's not on Switch, but if it was, I'd buy it again!
I'm going to watch Detective Pikachu, Apparently, the entire movie is on YouTube!
BOTW DLC for me. Haven't played it for 6months and the break has made me appreciate this great game again.
It's going to be more Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for me. It's my first time, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. If I fancy a break, I might go back to the 3D metroidvania that is Dark Souls Remastered. I'd taken a break, but have gotten back into it this past week.
That massive European Switch sale, though... Not sure if I can resist them all. I think I might finally push the button on Celeste.
Quite enjoying Bastion, which I just picked up on the eShop for a few bucks. Intense melee action, good story, loads of fun.
Happy weekend y’all!
I'll be downloading that Tetris99 dlc, finally Tetris in solitude! Otherwise Super Blood Hockey, Minecraft, Preventative Strike, Super Smash.
I'll probably play some Smash with a friend. Also, Final Fantasy XII on Switch and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin on NDS.
Just bought minecraft for maybe the 8th time on the switch because of the anniversary deal, so I'll be playing that. I'm definitely going to be playing a lot this week though, as my laboratory or kit is coming as well as a wolf link amino. So I'll be trying both of those out
I'm working on getting the best ending in Super Metroid on the SNES Mini. It's been a while since I did it on my Wii, so I'm going to need to practice my skills a bit.
I also beat good ol' Mega Man X1 again, because why not?
I’ll be bringing the Third Street Saints back to the top, working on a Labo VR project, and breaking some bones in Smash.
Literally just finished FF XII (took me a while due to my enjoyment of hunting instead of progressing the story).
I will probably try some more hunts but I also got my hands on bastion, guacamele and steamworld heist on the sale...
I’m playing black flag on wiiu it’s great. And the over rated Celeste because it was finally on sale. Pleased I waited and didn’t pay full price. It’s good but nothing amazing like everyone says.
Fortnite and Detective Pickachu for me.
Probably Fortnite. Don't need to see Detective Pikachu after watching it on YouTube. 10/10
I'm with family this weekend so probably not much, but if I do play something it'll probably be Ace Combat 7. I finished AC5 and got every plane including the Falken and the X-02. Really great game. I can't wait to get all my favorite planes again in 7!
I have a particular love for the Sukhoi planes, especially the SU-37
SU-47
and the SU-57
Beautiful aircraft. Sukhoi and the Russians know how to make some really stunning designs!
I'm also playing Shadows of Adam this weekend, next to dragon's dogma en yoshi's crafted world 😊😊😊 Shadows of Adam turns oyt to be an awesome game that really takes me back to my childhood!
I’m starting the final chapter of Mother 3, plus I just got a translated GBA cartridge of Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, but I won’t be starting that until Mother 3 is finished.
Having finished yoshis crafted world Thursday, and hearing/reading all this platinum games talk over the last week or so, I've decided to finally open up bayonetta 1. I played 2 and while back and loved it but never got around to playing 1. So I played the first couple chapters last night. When I'm not playing that I'll probably chip away at a few levels in Celeste, definitely get back into smash ( it's been far too long), and finally crack open enter the gungeon which I've had for over a month now ans not played.
Mutant Blob Attack. An amazing PlayStation Vita platformer and at this price I'll happily double dip. ... and (surprise) Warframe.
Smash Bros and Capcom Beat em Up Bundle for the Switch. I might make time to get destroyed on Cuphead as well. Ace Attorney Trilogy and Devil May Cry 4 on PS4.
Playing through LEGO Harry Potter with my youngster. Never played a LEGO game before, I like Harry Potter but not a massive fanboy. Despite this, really enjoying it. Gently witty, looks nice and collecting all the stuff is moreish. It’s also fairly easy which makes me feel like a baller for once
Some Saints Row the 3rd with some Smash thrown in for good measure (gotta get all my spirits to lv 99!). Oh yeah and some Power Rangers Time Force on GBC! Such an awesome game. If you can find a copy I'd highly recommend it!
I downloaded the Monster Hunter World demo last night and it's actually pretty fun. I didn't care for the generations demo, but I'm going to give World more of a shot.
I went back to the simple joys of Mario Kart 8 this morning. The game is just wonderful - I'm not really sure how it can seriously be improved upon for the next entry in the series. For now, though, time to nail all those Time Trials...
I’ve finished up Yoshi and Iconoclasts so... I don’t know what my next game should be.. lol. I will give Travis Strikes Back a try... I’ve had my eye on Steamworld Heist for a long while now maybe I’ll grab it while it’s on sale.
Just XB1 this time, may get around to finishing Halo 4 Legendary on MCC.
Been feeling kind of "blah" lately and haven't felt the want to play much. If anything, I did finally get a chance to grab Joker on Smash, so I can play that for a bit and explore the new content, also Final Fantasy XIV and Crystalis, the latter of which I really want to complete but haven't been in the best of mindsets to play.
Had the itch to play Pokémon so I bought Alpha Sapphire last week. Gen 6 had some ugly graphics.
Fusion Frenzy
Top Spin
Animal Crossing
Shin Megami Tensei III
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
Boxboy + BoxGirl
Battle Chasers Nightwar. Really digging this game. Fun so far! Also, Portal Knights 🤘🏻
Can't stop playing Enter the Gungeon. Killed the past of the main 4, robot, unlocked paradox, and killed the lich. Still need to unlock bullet/kill his past and beat the game with paradox. Might be awhile though since beating lich the first time I got really good RNG. Chamber Gun is the best.
This weekend, planning to play Puyo Puyo Champions. Been enjoying solo mode's Puyo Puyo Fever against the CPU, and it's nice to see the Fever gameplay back. Also with Team Sonic Racing coming out soon, I may play Sonic Heroes or Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
SteamWorld Quest
I've been having a VERY busy weekend between my sister's college graduation and Mother's Day, but I do intend to squeeze in some gaming. I'll shove in more Pokemon Ultra Sun at different points and intend to finish Super Mario World (Which is still my favorite 2D Mario game; change my mind! ) on my SNES Classic Mini. I'll also try out the original Star Fox and might give Kirby Super Star a try.
Also, when I'm out and about later today and tomorrow, I intend to take advantage of the current Detective Pikachu event and catch a few 'mon in Pokémon Go.
Have a fun, safe, and blessed weekend!
I will be playing Steamworld Quest and Dragons Dogma though after reading the article I might play Banjo Tooie again for a bit. I'll be watching Detective Pikachu later today!
Bastion and Super chariot
I’m playing Active Soccer 2019. Needs to be played on the harder settings to get a feel of Sensible Soccer but for less than a tenner this is a great little football game to pass a couple of hours away.
My main goal is to resist buying anything in the sale as I'm just so slow at getting through my backlog. Other than that, dipping into hyrule to finish the champions ballad and explore some areas that i didn't get to when i played it probably. And also some enter the gungeon and a little bit of tetris 99.
I'd like to play more but life just gets in the way!
I've been CONSUMED by Iconoclasts and just cannot seem to find a good time to put it down so I can give Ys VIII some more love. I better get back to that before my memory erodes of where I was and what I'm doing lol. I doubt I have the time but I'm going to try to get back to Travis Strikes Back as well since it'll be a little while before my friend and I hook up to play it. I will "attempt" to take a look at the shiny new Tetris 99 update, but I think I still need to pay $10 just to "experience" it, so I guess I'm do that another day and just play online. Other than that, It's Mother's Day weekend, so between girlfriend and Mom, I will not have any more time than that lol.
Been slowing getting back into Starlink but it's another double xp weekend in Paladins & a friend often asks me to join them for a few rounds of that.
A little bit of dragons dogma. Just started binging game of thrones
This weekend I'll be playing Valkyria Chronicles ( not as easy as I thought it would be, which is good ), The Messenger ( Its graphics are so nice, but dont let that fool you. If you don't pay attention, you'll die countless times lol), and the usual FM2019. Oh, of course some Smash Bros.
The best thing about this article is reading what everyone else is playing. Have a nice weekend everyone.
This week I will be mostly playing
Breath of the Wild Korok Hunting
Kirby Star Allies Puzzle Farming
And quite possibly some kind of Sale purchase
I'm playing Smash Bros and Pokemon Go (we're in a double XP event right now), but I've been feeling an itch to fire up Diablo III again soon.
Final Fantasy VII
Ghoulboy, Mana spark, captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Wipeout HD, Okami HD, Taiko no Tatsujin for Nintendo switch, and probably Party Golf and Worms on Switch.
Well, it's Finals Week for me, so I'll be playing with my textbooks more than anything else. However, I recently got a review code for Lapis x Labyrinth, so I'll see if I can find the time to dip into that at all over the weekend!
I downloaded the new Dragon Pinball. I know, hardly huge news, but if you like real pinball, these a la carte pinball games from Enjoy Up are becoming surprisingly good. They got off to a weak start with Jurassic Pinball which was so simple, it played like a 70's table, but the new ones are about on par with the great tables that were in arcades in the 90's. I think Zen Pinball has gone way too far with the fantasy physics and bloated designs, so it's nice that somebody is making something that plays like real tables. I just wish each table wasn't a completely separate game.
I finally got a physical copy of Ys VIII which has been out of stock for like forever in Sweden, so I'll probably start playing it soon. But I still want to finish Dragon's Dogma and Final Fantasy IX.
Trials Rising and Labo VR this weekend. Probably focus on creating the camera and playing around with it this time.
Assuming I actually have time to play games with all my stuff due for school and an AP test this Thursday, I'll probably jump into some more Smash, maybe some more Dragon's Dogma, and I might start Steamworld Dig, which I just picked up for a bargain price.
Civ 6 is what i am playing this weekend
Mudrunner : American Wilds
Finished all the challenges, got about 4 maps left to do before the game is 'beat'. Well until they add another map / vehicle, which this fantastic developer has a habit of doing randomly
Onimusha Warlords.
And because of the latest updates: Oniken & Odallus.
Mirror's Edge (Windows Phone) - Decent runner
Microsoft Flight (Games for Windows) - Watching a Let's Play
Resistance: Burning Skies (Vita) - Nearing the end finally.
Darksiders (Switch)
Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Xbox One)
Castlevania Symphony of the Night (PSP)
After the big grocery shop of the month, my sister and I split up, she went to get the plants for the garden and I went and bought some Copic Fine Liner Pens and a variety of very nice watercolors. Which is to say I also swooped through Ye Olde Game Store and grabbed Final Fantasy XII, with that painterly style I might just be inspired.
I Just finished Minish Cap (GBA) on my new 3DS and started Fire Emblem Sacred Stones(GBA). Also I've been playing Wind Waker (GC) on the Wii. On the switch I am back at Breath of the Wild and Retro city Rampage (hope to soon get Shakedown Hawaii). I'll also try to finish Red Dead Redemption 2 on the Xbox One o/. Hope to finish them all before my vacation ends.
Smash (always), Hell Is Other Demons, and Tetris 99.
Just bought a wirelesse adapter for the Switch so I could use a PS4 controller for MK11. Ive tried other kinds of controllers like the pro controller, joy cons, 3rd party pro controllers and Ive concluded that the d-pad on all of them are trash tier, at least for fighting games that required specific inputs
Man, i wish Banjo was on switch... anyways, i'm continuing my playthrough of the Ace Attorney trilogy! (I'm on justice for all.) I actually just bought Apallo Justice on the 3DS E-shop for when I'm done with the 1st 3 games.
I just got Assault Android Cactus, and it rules. Which makes me think of Android Assault on SegaCD, which also rules.
Hellblade, FFVII, and Riptide GP Renegade. Trying to knock at least Hellblade out before I start Dragon's Dogma.
I've been playing Mortal Kombat 11. It looks good and plays like a dream. Excellent port!
it is going to be a retro weekend with me and my son. Atari flashback, snk 40th, genesis classics, Namco collection, Capcom beat em up, and all arcade archives that I have on the switch.
Spyro 2 on the Reignited Trilogy. Great game which I missed out on when I was younger because I had an N64 and not a PS1.
@drewber2635 I've been thinking about getting a wireless adapter to use PS4 controller's on Switch. Which one did you get? I've been looking at the 8 Bit Do one.
Continuing Radiant Historia .. great game
Also downloading Stella Glow and will play that also.
Maybe some dragon quest builders and Torna on Switch
@JoeDiddley
IV is really good . You will like it . I need to get around to playing strange Journey. All the Atlas games are quality for sure
@Chimaj Ha, det är likadant här! Ys VIII seems to have been out of stock everywhere in the UK too. A few online places seem to be getting it again though. Now it’s around, I’m really tempted to get a physical copy.
MK 8 with family, Golf Story, Super Bomberman R, and whole mess of Genesis games solo.
More Monster Hunter Stories, the original 3 Donkey Kong Country games, and Picross 3d Round 2.
Yup, serious 3ds lovin' this weekend.
Warframe, my big sister(already finished), Lovcraft's untold Stories.
LUS is pretty epic so far, just about to start the sixth chapter, I have unlocked one of the extra characters. I don't know what happens when you die let because everytime I have I had an Ankh equiped.
Steamworld Quest and Tetris 99 Marathon mode from the new DLC.
@Krull Hej! I bought it the minute I saw it in stock and a few days later they had raised the price!
@HolyYoshi thanks. I’ve also picked up Strange Journey Redux and I’m really looking forward to it. I picked up Stella Glow (and SMT Soul Hackers and Etrian Odyssey Untold) in the sale too.
The backlog is real!
Just finished Breath of the Wild a few days ago. Now playing a little of Smash but I'm mostly playing JRPGs now with Bravely Default, which I started like a week ago and Octopath Traveler, which I started playing like 7 hours ago 😅
Octopath Traveler
@Alexface thanks for the heads up, with that info I'll probably skip the post game stuff in Tales of Vesperia as I really dislike grinding
My son and I are playing Cuphead in co-op. I was enjoying this game solo, but it's even more fun in co-op!
Octopath traveler
I finally picked up THE MESSENGER, so I will be playing that and, as always, finishing up the DLC on SPIDER-MAN.
I just bought Pokémon White on Friday and started playing it last night.
@JoeDiddley
Small world .. I actually downloaded Stella Glow last night and am about 4 hours in right now . Really liking it .
SR3 and finally double-dipped SteamWorld Dig have had most of this weekend's focus, but the JRPG squad (FFXII, Nelke and Xenoblade) refuses to give up the pedestal without a fight. There's also the usual stuff like Warframe but I may well curtail those visits down outside the daily login harvests - the end of the first nightwave season is rumoured to be nigh, and I don't see much of interest in the tier prizes I could realistically reach until then. And my campaign (including more planets and quests) is currently on hiatus until I manage to get through Trinity specter.
In other fields, this week saw me get my GPDW back (frankly months earlier than I had expected), and I've spent a while moving certain games from USB to my ex-Switch MicroSD of the same size. While GPD card reader is said to have a much lower speed cap, the device's USB hijinks (including random ejections while playing GTA4 and library launchers' struggle to keep track of installations on routinely removed and reinserted storage) tired me a lot last year, so I decided to try and bite this bullet. Frankly, most of the loading times don't seem to have taken a significant hit, and GTA4 is finally stable... on the other hand, Watch Dogs started acting up instead. On that note, as a WinXP user for most of my prior life, I gotta love how Windows 10 did away with any error messages whatsoever - it just closes the program, wipes the process and acts like nothing of significance has happened.😏 Oh well, fair trade - I can still "port beg" for WD on Switch in my dreams (hey, it was on Wii U) whereas GTA4 doesn't seem likely to get ported ANYWHERE ever again.
@ACNLFan You can never go wrong with Smash Bros.
This weekend I just played a bunch of Gamepass games to get achievements, so that I could get enough points to get a $5 Xbox gift card, which I then used to get another $1 month of Xbox Live.
@JoeDiddley chrono trigger was my heart <3
Playing through Chrono Trigger for the umpteenth time. Love the game to pieces.
Is it me or the new ones seem trash a little then the old ones.
@wazlon I have an 8-bitdo classic controller and while it is great for playing nes games or other retro games, the d-pad is not good for MK11. Still had issues with input and it gave my thumb callous after playing for about 20 mins lol
