Re: The Duration Of Tomorrow's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Has Been Confirmed

Skoffo

tomorrow during the direct I'll be driving to an appointment outside of town.
it will be hard to stay off spoilers until I come back tomorrow night but I'll do my best.

my (un)educated guess is that a large part of it will be dedicated to the hardware in comparison to the latest NS version. hoping for a 4k upscaling for major NS titles.
not many games in the pipeline at launch, expect 2 major mario titles, hopefully odissey 2 and MK9 or a SUPER MEGA ULTRA MK with all courses carachters items ever published with a track building option (been looking fwd to that) and a nintendo franchise title. no new zelda titles but maybe a remake.

hopefully GAMECUBE will come to the VC.

Re: Switch 2 'Indentations' Make It Incompatible With Original Switch Dock, Says Genki

Skoffo

@swoose thanks, I understand: I was under the impression that tp producers had to rely on precise data like measurements, ports, button placement and so on and that those aren't part of public patents - so unless Genki made a bunch of bogus prototypes which won't fit anywhere on the console they had to have something reliable from nintendo. but if it's only a matter of leaks it is somehow quite sad.

Re: Talking Point: Everyone Else Is Busy Revealing Switch 2 - What Gives, Nintendo?

Skoffo

@casualnintendofreak speaking of MK8, I agree with you but as far as I know there are ways to implement the game and make it a flagship title for NS2.
think about larger kart and driver customization options, exp points to level up karts, items and drivers, a track building mode, all tracks since the SNES.
i mean apart from mk double dash - which was really a significant step forward - and the first mk providing kart customization options most of MKs are simply versions of the previous game with some tweaks - which of course is not a bad thing at all, but as we are entering a new NS2 era it would be nice to have a larger and more complex game.

Re: Switch 2 'Indentations' Make It Incompatible With Original Switch Dock, Says Genki

Skoffo

after all these leaks I am still wondering how is it possible that there is no confidentiality agreement btw third party producers and nintendo. o to put it differently, how is it possible that someone who isn't nintendo unveils such crucial details and designs to the general public without nintendo publicly raising its voice. only thing that comes to mind is that there must be some sort of marketing strategy where nintendo pushes forward third parties to create hype (as if it was necessary, btw) and drops a bomb announcement later on. dunno.

Re: Switch "Joy-Con Drift" Class Action Lawsuit Dismissed After Five Years

Skoffo

lucky for me I never had a drift issue in the 8 joycons i bought over the years (yes, my kids like to mistreat them).
dismissing cases doesn't mean that free repairs will stop: recently nintendo spoke about ignoring the expiration of the 24 months seller's guarantee which in the consumer market is somewhat unusual. so big up for stepping up and doing its best in solving a problem.

Re: Review: Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition - Makes The Jump To Switch Almost Entirely Intact

Skoffo

this is imho the best borderlands game of the entire franchise. as far as gameplay goes it does a huge leap forward from the previous entry (which, mark my words, is well within my top 10 games of all times) in terms of variety and add ons, there are some vehicle customization options which were much needed given how much one is bound to travel and shoot by car or monocycle or whatever. the story plays well into adding more characters to the franchise and developing the existing ones. TBH i haven't bought the game and i don't know if i will, I already have exhausted my xbox version several times and I'm still on Sea of Stars right now so I don't really have time for much more. but this is an unmissable 10/10 game

Re: Talking Point: Which Classic Cartoons Deserve The Shredder's Revenge Treatment?

Skoffo

honestly, as much as I love the ghostbusters franchise, they have been chopped to pieces enough by mediocre games.

transformers is a sure shot upon the condition that they do something serious and not a cranky unpolished game.

i would probably throw money Fry style as soon as i see the announcement of a simpsons retro game but im afraid that rights for that are expensive and even if dotemu has proven itself to have it in their chords to do great games im not sure they are big enough financially to take on the challenge

Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - An Absolute Marvel, But Is It Better Than BOTW?

Skoffo

I'm about 20hrs into the game, still not following the main storyline but i'm just wandering around Hyrule to reveal the map.
i have the feeling that BOTW was a big drill for TOTK: Hyrule is twice as large if not more than that if you consider sky and depths. having spent more tham 300hrs on BOTW I started out pretty confident that I would remember not every corner but at least the overall layout: I spent hrs looking for hearty durians to no avail. weapons suck unless you attach some horn to it, resources are way more difficult to find around hyrule and most enemies are way more difficult to kill at least in the early stages of the game. that being said, amazing.

Re: Video: How To Fully Prepare For The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Skoffo

I'm beginning to suggest my wife to bring the kids to her parents in the countryside next weekend because of work related issues that need to be taken care of over saturday and sunday. unfortunately I have been nagging her about TOTK for 3 years and she is well aware of the day the game is released so my excuse stands on frail legs.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer #3 - Every New Detail Revealed

Skoffo

if one looks at the hair of the cadaver - esque figure of the first trailer of 3 yrs ago they look a lot like dreadlocks which look similar to those of the demise-like figure with red thick hair. so my guess is that the thing that zelda and link find in the first trailer is the same character standing in front of the red moon, which has "reborn" as the voice says in the last trailer while link's arm and master sword are being tangled in snake like figures. dang i'm a nerd indiana jones

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Final Pre-Launch Trailer Is Absolutely Stunning

Skoffo

is there a word to say that something is more awesome then the most awesome thing one has ever seen?
even the game mechanic seems to have changed a lot, environments are more complex and a dragon like race? allies? robot like vehicles? turn back time like Cher? ghost ships? underground? corrupted but powerful arm? short haired princess? rocket arms? dragons? did I mention ghost ships? and dragons? and flying between laser beams like link is a 1996 Tom Cruise? come on. COME ON.

Re: Movie Review: The Super Mario Bros. Movie - A Fun Ride That Substitutes Story For Spectacle

Skoffo

I saw it last night with a bunch of friends and kids (age ranging form 50 to 4) and had a real blast, everyone was laughing in an heartfelt way.
movie itself is well designed, funny, light, charming and family oriented in the true nintendo spirit.
music is awesome, apart from the songs most of the original score is found throughout the movie with a different and more epic tone.
I caught 95% of the easter eggs and my elder kid (7 1/2 yo) caught 80% of them, the youngest caught just the mario kart ones.
it was so fun as the cinema was full and each time some reference popped up on screen many 40yo like myself started to point their fingers and to whisper to the person next to them "Look that is ...." or "that charachter is...."
finally, everyone applauded at the end.
great movie overall, although preceeded by even greater expectations.

Re: Talking Point: Why Are So Many Remasters Sub-Par At Launch?

Skoffo

it is a matter of managing expectations imho.
remasters are destined to an audience who evidently played the game on the original system and there have been so many radical changes in gamers' expectations that if you are asked to pay 30/40 euros for a game you EXPECT 4k, 5k, full range audio, incredible menus and so on. i read a comment from a user a while ago on Zelda TOTK which said why pay 70 euros for 1080p at 30 fps, which describes very well the supericiality of some gamers' expectations: i mean, we are talking abt zelda..

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Temporarily Listed On Nintendo Website For $70 USD

Skoffo

I have pre ordered it on amazon back in november at 70 euros (75 USD). still, it's a zelda game so in the best case scenario it could go as low as 50 euros in years (BOTW is still 50/55ish). are you willing to hold off playing it for some time for 15/25 euros ? honestly, I am not so if I get a better price i'll cancel the pre order and get it somewhere else but otherwise let's be happy to have a new zelda game

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 3 Is Out Now With New Custom Items Update

Skoffo

I think nintendo should drop the act and include in the next mario kart EVERY COURSE, CARACHTER, ITEM and VEHICLE EVER CONCEIVED AND PUBLISHED for mario kart plus (let's call it MARIO KART DELUXE REMIX SUPER INCREDIBLE ULTIMATE TRACK or something ) and also add a mk builder for tracks and vehicles with many options. i'd pay big bucks for that.
still, as tomorrow is festive in italy, me and my kids have something to do over the day.

Re: Random: Every Issue Of Nintendo Power Is Now Available To Download

Skoffo

a friend of mine's dad brought back a copy of nintendo power from the US ages ago after a business trip.
it was around 1990 and i remember asking the english teacher to translate as we were in elementary school and the english was difficult.
it was the issue with super mario world on the cover, snes wasn't out in europe yet...
fun times.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Tactics Ogre: Reborn

Skoffo

@Serpenterror i get your point and I agree, absolutely: i'm planning on getting that game once I finish mario + rabbids SOH - games like these are an addiction to me!
that being said, the point i was making is about the price compared to many other more or less revamped franchises which came out on the switch in the past years: most of them have been reasonally priced within the 30e limit while TOR comes out at day one priced almost twice as much, even those who have a well consolidated IP behind (FF7/8/9).
all I can guess is that other franchises had a more capillary distribution on other systems as well which made them more accessible and therefore allowed for lower starting prices.
maybe older games which have been worked on recently take less work to be updated to a more recent version.
there may be many reasons and I don't know enough of what's behind the game cartrige itself to make assumptions.
honestly, can't wait for the price to go down or for someone to give it to me as present!

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Tactics Ogre: Reborn

Skoffo

price is brutal, it's still a remake of a remake so as much as I like the genre per se and as much as they have apparently done a great job they are bringing back stuff that already existed, not creating something anew.
i don't question how much work you put into stuff, i observe that most square remakes come out at 20/30 euros...

Re: Review: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope - Creativity Trumps Challenge In This Delightful, Divergent Sequel

Skoffo

I'm halfway through the campaign, did 100% on the first two planets and I gotta say that I had doubts over the possibility for UBISOFT to match or surpass the first game, which is one of my top 10 games ever.
still, i got the feeling that there is a little lack of depth of certain mechanisms which could have improved significantly such as terrain interaction and weapons (the fact that it's only skins which have close to nothing to do with stats its a little disappointmento).
to me it's a 9.5 outta ten, let's leave some room for improvement!
