Re: Free Radical Is Back, Will Begin Work On A New TimeSplitters Game In The "Coming Months"

Skoffo

funny story: there is an amusement park in italy which has a rollercoaster ride called "Time Voyagers" with the same font and approach of the whole TS IP.
I went there years ago and said where did I see this oh wait that is a forgotten gamecube game I bought for 10€ and never played.
back home I tried the game and BANG. great IP, all three games pack a punch and are only limited by graphics and engines 11 years old. I look forward to see what could happen if they bring this to a today system. my hidden fantasy is a TS game with Borderlands cel shaded graphics.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Do More DLC For Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Or Just Release Mario Kart 9 Already?

Skoffo

I think that MK8 up to today had an amazing run and its replay value is somewhere infinte, especially if you think about it as a mainly multiplayer game. that being said, i voted for a new entry because I think it lacks a certain modding depth and I am not talking about the car - tyres - wings combos which are a lot but about something more, like experience points to spend on several fields of your player which enhance boost, grip, drift, speed, luck or to each ? box item and so on, special abilities for each character, the possibility to add a second guy on your veichle, or a speedometer like in mario kart DD. what is missing in MK8 is exactly a character build process where the biuld actually affects performance. some RPG elements are necessary imho, if you think about the mario sports games they all have something like that. and a track builder would be awesome and the possibility to buy as DLC ALL MK tracks since MK. Nintendo please feel free to reach out if you need counseling.

Re: Review: Balan Wonderworld - A Charmless, Confusing Fossil From The Creators Of Sonic

boy am I relieved while reading this review.
I played the demo over and over and wondered what was wrong with me, I feared for my own life. I thought I had lost it, no more taste in games and no longer able to see the bright side of stuff.
fortunately, decent games are still decent games and I can still tell whether a game is good or not. this is not.
the only thing I can quote from the first part of the game is JAMES POND. I hope everyone is old enough to recall the game.

Re: Review: Borderlands Legendary Collection - A Triple-Helping Of Classic FPS Action

idk if someone is still onto this review but as I consider BL my favourite franchise ever i cannot refrain from saying that this port is one of the best things to ever come to switch apart from Zelda and probably project triangle.

for 45e you bring home 500 hours of frantic gameplay which could by itself justify the purchase of the switch.

and even if the structure of each game is similar to the other it does not result in any sort of dull gameplay as the additions to each chapter make it worth its while.

it's like watching the office over and over again, it's the same thing, some seasons are better than the other but yet you still watch it - sure, guns and gore are a little more present in BL, but so is Erin in the Office...

Re: Review: Immortals Fenyx Rising - An Off-Brand Breath Of The Wild That's Still Worth A Look

Got the game yesterday and took advantage of an afternoon working from home to dive into. general feeling that it is a bit of a BOTW ripoff as it was declared and expected but the game is fun nonetheless.
controls are a bit cranky and take a while to get through but eventually once you enter into the sequence the game gets better. having some trouble with the character developement in the early stages but that's because I'm rusty with botw mechanics. maybe not a game to spend 60E but so far so good.

Re: Nintendo Is Being Sued Over Joy-Con Drift Yet Again, This Time By A Child

apart from the technical issue, which has to be addressed somehow (and it is despicable that so far Nintendo has done little to nothing in this direction apart from offering a partial free substitution) I am always amazed to see how people do not have the slightest concept of what money is and that there are lawyers who get on board so easily of such fantasies. and I am a lawyer myself.

Re: Review: Trials of Mana - Old And New Combine To Create A Fine RPG Adventure

Skoffo

the main premise to this game is that unless You have played the Neil Corlett's translation of the SNES this game is a 6/10.
it is clearly a nostalgia driven heartfelt operation which is good per se but as the previous SD3 wasn't published outside Japan it has a limited audience: the collection of mana is a good try but (speaking personally) it is not the same thing playing on switch and on your computer with the feeling of having put hands on something obscure like a fan translated rpg.
Neil Corlett allowed me to play one of my top 10 games of all times and I'll forever be grateful.
as per the new game itself, I have been playing the game for about 10 hours so far (hawkeye, duran and angela) and new mechanics are a nice addition as well as the ability system, even if slightly unbalanced in the initial stages of the stat upgrades.
combat is fun even if it takes a little to get used to button combinations to perform commands to other party members. it is nice to see weapons changing their appearance and the possibility to switch back class fixes one of the few defects of the original SD3.
and I know this scales back to the past experiences but the translation employed in trials of mana is - in my humble opinion - a missed chance to correctly celebrate one of the finest pieces of fan made work ever carried out for SNES.
overall I love it, but i know that a part of the love derives from the past and from playing SoM and SD3 with my brother as a little more than kids.....
