Nintendo of America has confirmed the news that some 3DS fans in the region have been waiting for - the smaller New Nintendo 3DS model is coming to North America.
Initially it'll just be released as part of a special Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer bundle; this'll include a white system, the game, two cover plates and an amiibo card for a recommended price of $219.99. It'll arrive on 25th September.
This was announced at the GameStop Manager's Conference, though thankfully there's no mention of that bundle being an exclusive to the retailer. It's also worth noting that the amiibo NFC Read / Write adapter for older 3DS models will land on 25th September at a cost of $19.99.
GameStop does have an exclusive, however, in the form of a Hyrule Edition New Nintendo 3DS XL; it's gold coloured with "an intricate Hylian Crest" on the front. It'll arrive on 30th October, a week after The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes for $199.99 and will be exclusive to GameStop.
GameStop does have a few other smaller exclusives, too. Bowser and Toad Wii Remote Plus designs will come to the retailer on 11th September alongside Super Mario Maker, while a Yoshi design will accompany Yoshi's Woolly World on 16th October. This Fall GameStop will also have a Bowser AR card for the Photo's with Mario 3DS app, which will come with $10 eShop fund cards.
The big news is the arrival of the smaller New Nintendo 3DS in the region. Hopefully stock will be plentiful and, perhaps, more variations will come in the future.
Are you planning to pre-order one of these systems?

Throws money at the screen in a rabid manner
I'd rejoice if it looked nicer inside and if I cared about HHA.
Either way, it's about damn time. One could probably just get this bundle and get face plates off of the other regions that have variety already, no problem.
Good. Now people have the option to get this model instead.
Nice to have the option, but I'm definitely happy with my XL.
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????!?!?!/1///Q//1//d3w20=]0n2f
SCREAMMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pre-ordering! Now.....must...pre-order....now.......
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Better late than never. To bad I already bought the XL.
Three Words: Took Long Enough!
I'm really, really hoping being bundle only (at least right now) doesn't kill it's chances of selling. Although I'm guessing Nintendo is trying to play it safe and ride on the waves of a popular game to help move units.
I'm kind of wondering what triggered them to finally move forward with releasing it here, but I'm definitely going to save up and get one!
Good for the folks across the pond, although I suspect the XL will outsell it as it has in Europe and Japan.
Sold, gonna replace those covers ASAP though.
i love you isabelle, but we can never be
Welp... had I known, I would have waited for it instead of getting the XL...
I'm still happy with my XL - I'll get a New XL soon - but not a New regular. I would prefer a New XXL.
For now I'll stick with my trusty 2ds, but if the dbz bundle comes to the states.....
Good! Will this mean all the babies will stop crying?
Not sure why anybody would want to buy an inferior product. The XL is just better in every meaningful way.
Oh good thing i didn't buy the Xl version,now i can upgrade! Yes!
Will this come with a charger? For first time 3DS owners who want this, I'm concerned.
Awe, I want the Triforce Heroes 3DS XL...
Ah well. Already have my N3DS XL, but congrats to anyone who wanted a regular N3DS.
Oh, that's nice. I already got the XL version that doesn't have the faceplates. Now this comes to North America, which I wanted on initial release date, but there's not point in me buying it now since I have an XL version. Now I'll never get those Monado faceplates.
The name 'New' Nintendo 3DS still makes me cringe and facedesk...
I hope it's not the AC bundle only or it will be $400 on amazon and non existent at retail.
Sweet! I'll be able to import faceplates now!
Finally now I'm glad I didn't buy one this summer but Nintendo I'm hoping for some sort of Nintendo Direct 😏
I hate the New XL. The resolution is a joke. 3DS games do not look nice and crisp on either XL. But I have been waiting for this. Of course if I do get this bundle I will be handing HAPPY HOME DESIGNER over to my girls. lol
BOOOOYAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I'm in Europe and went with the New 3DS XL console (I couldn't resist the monster hunter one), but it's awesome to finally see America get the smaller New 3DS console. Giving customers the choice is always beneficial and this move has been long overdue.
@freaksloan
Some adults have smaller hands, some don't like the blown up graphics on the XL, some don't want to carry the larger model around, some love how customizable the smaller one is. The smaller model's release has no effect on you or anyone else that prefers the XL so there is no reason for you to be childishly name calling people for wanting options that appeal to them; especially when those options should have been out 7-8 months ago.
@mariovslink62
I want to hope they learned their lesson from the XL bundle fiasco but I'm guessing not. Good thing I still have my old working charger...
@HyrulianOfHyrule I think directs are either on hiatus or retired
Alright yall...no complaining. you whined for this so please go buy it.
I'll be sticking with my LBW XL. I may buy more face plates since they should come across the sea now.
Just saw the new ZELDA XL...can I curse on this site? Please just this once? OMG I can not believe I'm about to buy 3ds number 6.
Awesome, awesome news! Pre-ordered as fast as I could! =D
I knew it, they were saving this model for the holidays to help push the 3DS family this year.
It makes sense, make the early adopters who are desperate for a New Nintendo 3DS pay more for a larger model without any other options being on the market.
And then bring out the smaller model just in time for the holiday season.
Smart move Nintendo. I knew you had a plan this whole time.
PSA: That awesome Zelda 3DS is available as of right now via GameStop.com. I just preordered mine and they don't charge till release. GO GO GO!
@freaksloan Seriously, check yourself. As was discussed by many when the issue came up months ago. Many people have a variety of reasons for wanting this so-called "inferior" product. My kids hate the XLs and have wanted the regular sized n3DS since they saw the one I imported from Japan. They love the thought of collecting faceplates as well to change up the system's look to what they want. I want one because it'll fit in my purse since I don't carry a huge bag and the faceplates mean not having to shell out $200+ (or $100+ with a trade in of an old system) for a limited edition when I want to change the look of my system. So get off your high horse and stop putting down other people's personal preferences. What someone else wants should not be any of your concern anyway. Have a good day.
YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whew, must breathe.... So excited! :D:D
I share this guys exact feelings XD.

(https://twitter.com/AjinArts/status/638467785027289088)
WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA still getting an XL. They're just better
@freaksloan Not everybody has monster-sized pockets.
FINALLY!!
I'm still wondering when we'll be able to pre-order the Xenoblade X Special Edition that NOA announced over the weekend. With their track record of underproducing I don't want to miss it.
@freaksloan I still play a 2DS with no intentions to upgrade. Not everyone needs the best model for a system or product.
Sometimes, there are valid reasons why people don't run out and buy the supposed "best" model.
In my case, the 2DS offers me everything that I want in a handheld, which includes a comfortable desgine that fits in my hand, bigger L/R Buttons, and better endurance for a house where a very active dog can jump on me without a moment's notice.
I don't care for 3D since my eyes can't really see the effect, I don't have an Amiibo Collection, and outside Xenoblade(which I have on the Wii) the new 3DS XL does not have any exclusive games that interest me.
My point is this, you sound just like the people who flood PS3 forums and haress people over why they have not upgraded to a PS4 yet.
And my reason for sticking with my PS3 is simple, I don't have the money to upgrade, I have a good-sized backlog of games, and support for the PS3 is still good enough for me to hold off upgrading.
People have their reasons for sticking to "older" systems like the PS3 and Xbox 360, and people have their reasons why they want the New Nintendo 3DS.
Maybe they want a smaller system? Maybe they like the idea of changeable faceplates? Maybe they want something they can fit into a bag or pocket easier?
Rather then insulting people and calling them babies, why don't you go enjoy your XL? People want certain things, and not everyone needs the latest technology or best versions of a given system.
I wish people would respect the choices a person makes. I love my 2DS and PS3 and don't want to upgrade anytime soon. People want the New Nintendo 3DS.
They are not babies for wanting something other regions got. Honestly, if a person's choices in hardware bother you so much that you have to resort to insults(and calling people whining babies is an insult).
Then I will kindly suggest you find another hobby, or at least refrain from coming onto comment sections and forums like this.
Meh, fine with my XL, it's whats on the screen that truly counts.
@Carysian While I appreciate your good intentions and agree with what you've said, remember: Don't feed the trolls, they like it.
I only skimmed the article...for some odd reason I saw the price of $20 and I'm like..."Really?!"
Yeah, just another Facepalm Moment from me. lol
Congratz. Enjoy it guys, White one is awesome for the SNES fans.
I knew it! Now it's time to save some money... If that's possible with all the games that are coming
@sWiTcHeRoO "One could probably just get this bundle and get face plates off of the other regions that have variety already"
That's what I'm planning. I would have much preferred just the plain, non-bundle white system--both due to significantly cheaper cost and zero interest in AC. But hey, I'll take what I can get. (At least it's the white system, which is what I was hoping for.) I already pre-ordered it on Gamestop. I'll just sell the AC plates (and get the plain or other ones on ebay or something) and card. By the way, is it possible to sell the game? Does a code for the digital game come with it or is it just pre-installed? I'm guessing pre-installed, which would really be a bummer for me.
I'm not personally a fan of the smaller new 3DS despite the faceplates, but I am tempted by the Zelda new 3DS XL. My ALBW XL still works perfectly fine though so I probably won't get it.
I am going to EB Games (Game Stop here in Canada) early tomorrow morning. There is no way I am going to miss the Zelda special edition again. I was so mad last year. I am a collector, so I really want it.
@Caryslan Good point! Just out of curiosity, have you got a Wii U?
I got my New 3DS XL metallic blue because, to me, the new features are worth the upgrade. Besides, I wanted to upgrade from my regular 3DS aqua blue that I had from launch day. Even if I had a 3DS XL, I still would have upgraded to New 3DS XL. It's just personal choice/preference, like you said.
Guess I'll sell my n3ds xl and buy this one. Do we know when this'll be released?
Yaaaaaaas
@Chaotic_Eevee Worse revision name ever.
@MyLegGuy
Sept. 25th
@WebHead
I still hope for Nintendo Directs in the near future, they always keep me updated with the latest Nintendo Swag. But I get it from the death of Iwata I understand.
YES YES YES!!!!!!!
Hooray, a smaller screen
@leo13 I've literally been reloading all day looking everywhere. I missed the initial Amazon preorder of it and I don't wasn't to miss out on it.
Here's the link to pre-order from Gamestop, though I'm sure other places will let you do that soon too:
http://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-3ds/consoles/nintendo-new-3ds-animal-crossing-happy-home-designer-bundle/125091
I'm not shocked in the the slightest. Some of us called it earlier this year. Was just a matter if getting the higher selling XL in everyone's hands first, then appease the vocal minority. From a sales and production standpoint, it made sense. Nonetheless I'm glad the folks who were crying out for one finally gets the opportunity to buy one. Heck I'd probably get one myself.
I would have been happy if they would have brought the XL version of the AC unit here. I like the bigger screen.
About time. Now I can seriously start thinking about upgrading... however.... is it the same price as the XL?
I personally prefer the XL size, but I am VERY happy that those who wanted the standard size can get it in NA. That being said, PLEASE don't complain and just buy the damn thing whether you wanted Animal Crossing HHD or not. Support it to say Thank You.
$220 when you can buy the larger model for $200 or the older larger model for $160? RIPOFF.
But... I bought the XL one cuz I didn't expect this.... I've been defeated.
@123akis Yes, I do have a Wii U, got it last year in fact! Which is one of the reasons why I'm not upgrading to a PS4, the PS3 and Wii U have enough games this holiday season between the two of them to keep me occupied.
I'm planning on getting Mario Maker when it comes out.
@NTELLIGENTMAN not in Canada you can't. It's $229 here
Will we get the HHD theme with the code when or what?
I'll get this bundle if the code gives me the theme, if not im taking a pass.
@MailOrderNinja Woo I don't know if I should thank you or curse your name (kidding!) since now 3ds number 6 is on the way!...I'm so glad they don't make limited editon Wiiu the way they do the 3ds....I'd have more systems than games.
@Uberchu
I was asking earlier, when a system comes bundled with a digital game, is it just already downloaded on the system when it comes, or does the bundle include a code for downloading the game. I ask because I have no interest in Animal Crossing, and it would be really helpful to be able to sell the code, rather than spend so much more money on a game I won't even play.
And if anyone else could answer this, I'd appreciate that as well.
I might get a new 3ds just so I can have Splatoon plates.
Grrrrr I'm trying to buy the Zelda one on the GameStop website, but I keep getting error messages. It'd better not be already sold out. It would be so ridiculous the repeat the exact same mistake as last year when It was sold out way too quickly. It would be so dumb...
I just preordered one and it appears to be online only, and they force a charge of $8 shipping. Anywhere else would have made this free shipping since it is so highly priced. If I can cancel and get this elsewhere I will.
@Rocky2418 the box says it comes with code, so I hope it includes the 3DS theme if one uses the code...
the MH4 XL came with the full game inside, so no eShop exclusive theme.
But i wonder does it come with 2 plates or 3?
i mean its a white new 3DS if it doesn't come with basic white plates, how do u get em?
When I get the bundle i'll probally combot the HHD plates with the isbel ones or something.
Self-fulfilling prophecy, this: they waited long enough that those most likely to buy it probably went the XL route (or imported like I did).
I'm not buying it twice.
Standalone! Standalone! Standalone! Please Nintendo Senpai! Standalone!
Nice, but I'll just wait for the model that doesn't force me to buy Animal Crossing junk I don't care about.
Great news for our North American cousins! I'm pleased for you guys.
@sWiTcHeRoO you're going to import faceplates? That's gonna be pricey, but whatever.
@Uberchu
Sweet, that would be great. Do you happen to have a link to a picture of the box that can be zoomed in enough to see that? I couldn't find any.
This is ridiculous. We finally get the new 3ds a whopping 7 months after Europedoes, and we have to buy it bundled with a game bundled with a game that caused E3 uproar. Great job, Reggie. My body was ready 7 months ago!
Good! I was just about to pull the trigger on an XL model because I was convinced they'd never launch this here.
@Radbot42 Gamestop exclusive...but perhaps you can try in store?
@Ryu_Niiyama
Since there was no option to do in store pickup I guarantee that there is no way to order in store.
CRAP NINTENDO I WAS SAVING MY MONEY FOR THE BUNDLE WITH THE ADAPTER BUT NOPE YOU'VE JUST GOTTA TAKE MY MONEY PLEASE I NEED THIS I NEED THIS I NEED THIS I NEED THIS!!!!!!!!!!
I'm really happy for all those that were waiting for the regular NN3DS, but personally, I'll stick to my original Aqua Blue 3DS. I love its color and the 3DS works fine for me, so no need to upgrade... If I find a Lucina and/or Robin amiibo I'll pick up the NFC reader in preparations for Fire Emblem Fates, though.
Enjoy all the lovely Cover plates Transatlantic
friends!
@Aromaiden ..........yeah.
Here's the exclusive Zelda Hyrule Gold New 3DS XL for preorder at GameStop
screen capture windows 7
And here's the other cover plate that comes with the Animal Crossing New 3DS
images upload
Yes! I knew I was right for waiting!
@Darth_Pascal
I seriously doubt it's sold out considering I just ordered one like 15 minutes ago
About frickin' time...
You just knew they were gonna pull this nonsense though...>_>
I'll consider this but it'd essentially be wasting money since I have to sell stuff that I'll be losing money on to get the exact same thing back physically(ie face plates and the game). If this were bundled with a physical copy, or a standalone system, I'd have no issue jumping on it from the get go.
Why does NoA always have to do everything backwards nowadays? Isn't it enough that we got Club Nintendo cut off with pretty much -nothing- of note even happening, months before everyone else?
I'm usually a bit more...forgiving in these kinds of situations, but this is absolutely ridiculous.
Well, I wanted the black model, I only like one of the sets of included cover plates, and I can't afford to spend an extra $180 on a system this month, so I guess I'll just start saving up just in case NOA releases a black system in the coming months.
Sticking with my MH4U New XL for now.
oddly enough i bought a face plate last week for my MMn3ds XL that looks just like this new one...only in green.
Time to sell my New 3DS XL!!! Well after I bought this new small model and did my system transfer of course
@Sir_JBizzle "I'm not shocked in the slightest."
Not the slighest? Not even at this part?
"This was announced at the GameStop Manager's Conference, "
I always assumed this would come when they ran out of stick, no reason to keep producing the old model, and he holidays is a better time to release this kids model than March.
But no ND? No YouTube vid? No tweet? Gamestop gets to let the cat of the bag? I'm shocked at that. Should have announced this at E3. Both the new 3DS bundle and the Zelda XL. E3 was so bad. Or at least a Facebook post. Anything but Gamestop.
YES FINALLY!!!
Day one, if I had the money ;-;
But, I'm just happy that I waited long enough for the smaller model
Oh nice - I hope they come out with a standalone version too. They bundled it with the one game I couldn't have less interest in.
@rjejr well I'm more or less not shocked that it's finally coming. The details aren't what I expected, however. I think earlier this year I thought they'd announced it. Welp that obviously didn't happen.
@rjejr
What on earth are you talking about? Nintendo of America did tweet this- how do you think the information first got out? It says right there in the very first sentence of the article that "Nintendo of America confirmed" (if any information was released before this it's news to me)
https://mobile.twitter.com/NintendoAmerica
All major news and information for NA is now coming from Nintendo's Twitter account. Xenoblade Chronicles X CE was also announced by tweet. The Walmart exclusive Modern 8-bit Mario Amiibo Wii U Mario Maker bundle (good grief that was a long name) was also first announced by tweet. That's how it works now- they announce by tweet and then it goes live on retailers' websites. Of course being a GameStop exclusive was not announced by Nintendo- that information did indeed come from GameStop.
EDIT: I suppose you are correct with regard to the LE Zelda New 3DS XL, but those get announced all the time by retailers, often times with consumers finding out when it goes live on their website. I was referring to the big news, the news of the original model coming to NA. I should have been more clear about that.
Could not care less. I upgraded from the original 3DS to the 3DS XL when the latter first launched and I've never had any interest in ever buying another one of their remodels.
Just make an actual "new" handheld and I might be interested.
@leo13 Amazon already did pre-orders, and they sold out in a couple hours. I'm hoping that other stores pick it up some time soon, since I'm selling my old 3DS to get the money for the bundle (Obviously didn't have the money during Amazon's initial run). I'll be upset if I miss out on it.
As for the normal sized New 3DS, I wish that it had been released alongside the XL. I probably would have gone with that instead of the XL. It's too late for me to turn back now, though.
@shigulicious Not unlike the Squid Sisters home theme released this past week, eh?
I am very excited that this is finally coming here. I have played my cousins new 3DS XL but I didn't like they way it felt at all. I also didn't like how the screen folded but that is just a nitpick. I do hope I can nab one. My 3DS is starting to show its age so I need to replace it, (well, upgrade. I never get rid of my older handhelds/consoles). I may not be an Animal Crossing fan, but I do want to give the series a spin so HHD should be interesting if I get it. Oh, and of course the Isabelle Plates
Does anyone know what the back of the Hyrule Edition 3DS XL looks like? There doesn't seem to be any available images.
I waited for the time to get this model.
I knew it would come.
Time to save up, and see what faceplates I can get.
That is really strange. We've had both New 3DS versions in Australia for ages... like since nov/dec 2014.
I don't own any 3ds or 2ds models, and I was wondering which would be the best version to get? I don't like animal crossing at all I find it boring and not fun, so if I got this version I would sell the faceplates and also could I sell the game or is it already installed on the system?
Another Zelda edition New N3DS XL?? I already have have one of those in my collection!! Nintendo you are pure evil.
It hasn't shown up on Canadian retailers yet. I just hope they have stock of this next month or else I might have to trade in my iPod touch towards it. Which I don't really want to do but I will.
@mowerdude Undoubtedly "new Nintendo 3DS" if you can afford it, but whether standard or XL is up to your size preference. I'm good with my XL (big pockets), whereas my friend wants the more compact console.
@larry_koopa
All these lemmings buying a 'new' console that, to my knowledge, only has ONE game (Xenoblade) for it that can't be played on a regular 3DS, which came out like a year ago.
Some people really will buy anything Nintendo craps out.
Sweet! Knew I was right in waiting. I've always preferred the regular sized DS/3DS models to the XLs; I find the larger size to be a little cumbersome and don't care for the blown up display.
Unfortunately, I don't believe I'll be picking one up on day 1....My poor wallet.
@HollywoodHogan: You're forgetting about access to The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
Nintendo... Trolling us into the ground. Jerks.
Awesome. I'll probably pick one up.
@TJF588 I don't know really about the size, because I have never ever held either version of the 3ds or 2ds, but I do own a wii u console so how does the gamepad compare to the New 3ds console sizes?
@Radbot42 @Ryu_Niiyama
You can order in store. Here's the SKU # for them to look up in the system...
#900 117419
@TJF588 yes, all things Splatoon and I'm not embarrassed to admit it!
Yes!!
This is pretty amazing! What happens to any pre-installed games when you do a system transfer to that device? Do you lose them?
Better late than never I suppose. I just hope this doesn't mean they're going to use the regular New 3DS as a limited edition of sorts in the US though.
I'm not crazy about the game nor the face plates, but we'll see what happens over the holiday. Black Friday is coming up after all, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.
@NTELLIGENTMAN
Not really, no. Its $20 more likely because of the two face plates that come with it, which are around 12.99 Euro each. There's more than just a system and digital game in there, unlike with the XL version.
@Zombie_Barioth Still doesn't include and ac adapter though. For people like me who have never ever own a 3ds console.
I'll be very interested to see if the glow-in-the-dark Boo plates show up. So glad I got those, but I could see that being a shortage.
@sevex
you don't lose the preinstalled game. it will still show up in the eShop under redownloadable software.
Zelda Gold Hyrule 3DS BACK IN STOCK bundled with Triforce Heroes
http://m.gamestop.com/product/125340
Meh, a bit too late as I already imported a JP system for about $85 less than what fellow Muricans will have to pay for this (so far) limited release. No regrets though, as I still have my Murican 2DS to play Murican releases.
@ShikabaneHime13
Same here!! Now, start stocking on faceplates up the wazoo!!
Yessssssss!!!!!
...Now if only they would sell some plain white face plates. :[
@mowerdude
Game is preinstalled unfortunately. Personally I'd say the best 3DS would be the standard New 3DS, but unfortunately so far its an overpriced bundle here :/
Just see if you can find friends who'll let you try the various models or check out stores for demo units to see what you like. Either of the New models would of course be best, as the menu screen is much less of a pain in the ass to use on a regular basis due to more RAM and better processing.
Again, I personally feel the Standard New 3DS is the best designed handheld Nintendo has made since the Game Boy Micro.
@AVahne
Many shots of the box say that it's a download code and not pre-installed
@ShikabaneHime13
Oh really? Hopefully for those people who really don't want this game it'll be a code that they could just sell off to a friend or on ebay or something.
@maceng
Waaaaaaaaay ahead of you, lol. Already got a collection of 13 different faceplates from Japan, including Xenoblade, Splatoon and even the Fire Emblem if set
@ShikabaneHime13
YOU!!!!
...
...
By the way, where did you get that Splatton cover plate?? It s not listed on Amazon!!!
Found it!!
@maceng
Costs a pretty penny with shipping if you're only buying one set of plates, so I'd suggest going through the inventory on the site and picking out multiple things to make the purchase worthwhile
http://www.play-asia.com/new-nintendo-3ds-cover-plates-no-060-splatoon/13/708sgp
@JaxonH
It is a new 3ds XL.
Thanks, but Amazon has better prices thru their merchants. Free shipping as always (in most cases).
@Ryu_Niiyama I think I like this Zelda themed one even better than the prior ones.
Great! Just ordered 6 new face plates. Now I just need to order 6 new Nintendo 3ds to go with them...
@mowerdude 3DS AC adapters are like $8, less if you actually look around. If Nintendo added one they would jack up the price about $20, I'm happy about their decision.
System transfers.
Again, beating a dead horse, but when I wanted to upgrade from a PSP 1000 to a 3000, I had to deactivate the system first.
Sounds easy, when you have the system, yeah?
PSP actually IS easy that way. It's even pretty easy if you DON'T have the original. But you still can't have 2 PSPs active on one PSN account.
PS3 owners! Hey!
How easy is it to activate a new PS3 if you DON'T have the original?
Anyone?
Impossible?
Congratulations!
4 days spent with a CS rep was the last straw with my last Sony product.
Your system breaks:
'Hey, this is Sony.'
'My PS3 broke and I want to activate a new PS3 and play all my old games.'
'That's easy enough, just log into the old system and deactivate it first.'
'I can't, it's broken.'
'.......................................I can't help you, let me transfer you.'
-3 transfers, 11 different agents, 4 days and close to 7 hours wasted on the phone with CS later-
My original 3DS broke when a drop damaged the video connection. I bought a New 3DS XL to replace it. Do you know how long it took to get the new system up and running for Nintendo's CS??
Anyone?
16 minutes from the first dial. 2 calls, 14 minutes spent on the phone.
Every game accessible.
Now, I get that the PS3 is a console, but that's ridiculous.
It's the sole reason I haven't gone with a PS4 yet.
That and the fact that consoles are so PC and fragile, it's disheartening.
'It's new and it's fun, it'll last and endure, you'll see!'
And they never last, because everything is made to be a cheaply efficient PC without any of the truly valuable features.
handhelds are the path forward. True portability is worth so much more than 100'', 4K deathmatches in dank, dark dungeon like basements with fat slobs who live and breathe gaming, with even the slightest 'injustice' turning their world upside down in such a depressing fashion that you'd overlook the stained pants, the sweat streaked shirt and the protruding gut and want to feel sorry for them. Before you remember that they called your mother every disgusting name under the sun because 2 weeks ago they got shot in the face playing a benign and inconsequential online shooter with a dozen people they've never met, will never meet and yet still find some reason to act like the most despicably homophobic, racist, sexist and bigot in human history.
Why is this so wanted but Amiibos are considered worthless or pointless? the only appealing feature this small new 3ds has is face plates (which will cost extra money similar to Amiibos). When these things are out in NA it could just be another Amiibo where there is a few good or popular face plates but people can only get the mario ones.
@JaxonH
Nice reply. If I want to throw out my money at anything that Nintendo releases, that's my problem.
I collect game stuff and having the customizable new 3ds is gonna be a wallet-killer, but I've been known to live on water and air for days.
Firstly, @TwilightAngel, what jaxonh says is mostly true. Maybe it's not your intention, but please stop with the harassing.
And @JaxonH, this has happened before, you seem to fall pretty easily into discussion and name calling yourself. It's OK to be passionate about things, but sometimes not feeding the fire is the easier way to put it down.
@ShikabaneHime13 "Many shots of the box say that it's a download code and not pre-installed"
Can you post a link showing off such a picture? So far all I've seen is the picture included in this article (the same picture used on Gamestop where you pre-order it), which merely says "Full Game Download Included."
Do we know for sure whether that means an actual code or pre-installed? If you could post a link of an official pic that actually says it's a code, that'd be very helpful. I'm really hoping to be able to sell the code... >_>
@Rocky2418
Don't know how to post pics in the comments but if you click the picture in the article to enlarge and then increase the size, it says in the banner that states "Full Download Included" it mentions a code. Normally, there is a clear distinction (like on the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate XL) stating that game is pre-installed if that's the case
Ya know what's funny? Right after my last post, someone pointed out that banner to me over on GameFAQs. I hadn't paid much attention to it because it was just the message about the download written in Spanish and French, so I assumed it had nothing beyond what the English version stated. But this person pointed out the fact that both the Spanish and French translations used the phrase that's translated "download code" (and as you pointed out, you can make out "code" fairly easily in the French one). Anyway, thanks for pointing that out here too. That's welcome news.
@Rocky2418
No problem. As much I just wanna dive in after the long wait, I'm holding out for a black system to arrive for myself and my,son. One of my daughters did want the bundle so I preordered for her but my other daughter and neice aren't interested in the game but do want a white model system, so holding,out for standalone systems to hit the market or at least more favorable bundles
@ShikabaneHime13
I can certainly understand that (waiting for the one you want). And actually, I'd much prefer the standalone one myself (still in white, that is). Nevertheless, I pre-ordered this--largely because, after waiting all this time, I'm paranoid, thinking that I'll miss my chance to at least get it in this form. That said, I'm planning on not even opening it until the end of the year; if the standalone one is announced by then, I'll just sell this one new (or better yet just cancel my pre-order, in the unlikely event it gets announced in the next few weeks), and if it isn't, I'll go ahead and use this one. I may not want to miss my chance, but I can certainly wait a little longer, just in case the basic one does come.
A year late, only available as a bundle with Happy Home Designer, and announced side-by-side to a glorious golden Zelda XL? Did... did a N3DS kill a second cousin of Reggie's or something? Because NoA really, REALLY seems to be trying to drive it into the ground.
@maceng
It's most definitely your right to do with your money as you please, as it is mine. And there's no reason we should be mocked and ridiculed for it on this site. What possesses a person to think that's okay is beyond me.
I think this Hyrule Gold New 3DS XL looks much better than the Majoras Mask edition, but I'll be glad to display them side-by-side
@Rocky2418
I'm pretty confident we'll get some standalone models as well as other game bundles on the market before end of the year. As I said over on NeoGAF, if this system's availability were really meant to be a "one game deal" then there'd be no reason for Nintendo to drop the price of the 2DS recently (even though it really doesn't sell well). If I recall correctly, I believe Nintendo stopped producing the original XL not to long after announcing the New XL for the west (haven't seen any new special editions for the original XL since February) and are letting the current stock in the wild dwindle down which leaves us with the 2DS ($99) amd the New XL ($199). This leaves room for a "middle-ground" device, that being the New 3DS
@SahashraLA Odd, took me 1 call and 10 minutes.
@ShikabaneHime13
Well, I hope so. I'll just wait and give them till the end of December--that's how long I was giving them to announce the standard size in any form anyway, based on Reggie's E3 comments.
TAKE MY MONEY NOW!
Nice, I am happy for the Americans finally got the regular 3DS and I hope a lot of people will be happy ^^. (From reading the comments it seems like everyone is really happy with the New 3DS coming to America .).
I hope Nintendo will react more to us fans desire, but at the same time creating games that we didn't know we wanted .
As far as a Nintendo Direct goes seeing right now how Nintendo keeps coming out with new information without a Direct, I think there might be a while before we get a new Nintendo Direct ;^^. Still Nintendo is supposed to release their new mobile game this autumn so who knows really .
@mowerdude The GamePad is magnitude larger than the XL, both in bulk and single screen real estate. Well, maybe I have a slightly skewed perception due to the case on ours, but the XL is much more handy than that. I would suppose it's somewhere between the DS Lite and DSi XL in shape and feel, though it doesn't recess in the top portion.
@Kimite
Yeah, I know what you mean. I keep hoping for directs but the fact that everything has been done by Twitter, it makes me wonder if they are done. Maybe once they get a confirmed new president and stuff running back to a more norm, maybe they'll start up again. I hope they do.
@JaxonH "I just made a comment defending bogus preorder practices on PushSquare" But did you do that for Nintendo's Shovel Knight Amiibo practices? Locked content only on that amiibo. And if you don't find it? Well you're screwed get ready to pay double the toy is worth. And before you say Nintendo has it covered" If they can't even stock characters from their own games(popular ones). What makes you think they will stock this one or better yet have enough when it releases? And before you say again "Well pre order them quickly!" Yes i can agree with that,but not all of us are on the web waiting for these pre orders(cause some of them can't). Like myself i don't have time cause i have two jobs, my hands are full. So in the end i'm screwed,cause who knows when Nintendo will restock them?
@MailOrderNinja It does have a more emblematic nature to it, over the accents of the first 3DS and the unique yet off-balancing masks of the New XL.
@TwilightAngel
Well first of all Shovel Knight isn't Nintendo at all. It's a third-party game and a third-party Amiibo. So I wasn't defending Nintendo at all, yet you failed to recognize that difference. And I made the argument I did was because I genuinely feel that it's not a problem if the game was fully realized already.
I genuinely understand where people like you were coming from with their frustrations about not finding stock. And you would see me empathizing with people like you more if it weren't for all the insanely hateful comments that mask over that. If everyone on the site was making rational statements and saying OK here's how I feel, I don't agree with this because reasons A B and C then you would see me making responses that are more levelheaded and understanding the other side's argument. But the problem is people aren't- they lose their temper and start cursing and complaining like the sky is falling over every little tiny thing.
@ikki5
I understand that's how it appears to you but that's also why you shouldn't always judge a book by its cover. The noticeable difference between this site and PushSquare, is you don't have the flurry of insanely out of control comments on that site like you do here. People are more rational over there and therefore I'm more rational and can see their point of view. But here when I go to any given article I'm guaranteed to see 20 to 30 people flipping there sh*** over some tiny little thing that could easily just be shrugged off. And THAT is why you see me respond to those comments a lot. When people stop flipping out and acting like the world is coming to a crashing halt because a full game is getting an extra Amiibo feature, or because Nintendo's not going to publish a game, and then turn around and complain that they do publish the game, when you see people stop acting like every single little thing is the end of the world that's when you'll see me stop responding to those crazy comments and it won't seem like I'm white knighting to you any more.
Truth of the matter is I've got quite a few complaints of my own that I would love to voice but I can't because I'm too busy trying to talk some sense into people that are acting like it's the end of the world because a game got a 3 week delay, or whatever the particular complaint of the day is.
@JaxonH
"The noticeable difference between this site and PushSquare, is you don't have the flurry of insanely out of control comments on that site like you do here."
Hate to say it, but PushSquare has barely any comments. Two articles on the front page have more than 25, one being 28,the other 49. The amount of people there vs here is not even close to comparable and you can't really judge it due to the amount of people. If you go to any Sony or Xbox forum, board or whatever with a comparable user base as here, you'll see the same kinds of comments that are "out of control" there that happen here. I'd also like to note that you, yourself help fuel the "out of control" comments here with your attempt at damage control at anything controversial.
Now that you had your reality check(s), I'm heading to bed.
@ikki5
That's very true you do see that sort of thing on almost every other website. I'm not disagreeing that the reason for it is probably the smaller user base, but nonetheless I am pointing out that it doesn't happen over there which is why you don't see me responding over there like I do here.
Is just one of those things that gets under my skin, and it coincidentally only seems to happen on this site and not on the other two. When I go to this other Nintendo fan site I'm known as the Sony fanboy because I'm always calling out these drones who make comments like "Sony is a racist company and all third party games are garbage" etc etc. i'm sure you can imagine all the stuff they come up with and they talk hella sh***. And just like here that sort of thing really gets under my skin and I call those people up for and as a result I'm known as the Sony fanboy. Ironic seeing as some call me a Nintendo fanboy here.
The point I'm getting at is that I only respond to those outlandish comments, because they really bug the hell out of me to see people trying to complain as much as possible and make it seem like the situation is as bad as it could possibly be. But I do it on all sides- you just happen to only see the side where I'm in favor of Nintendo. As hard as this may be for you to believe I make the exact same counter arguments with Nintendo fanboys who talk crap about Sony and Microsoft. I just don't like fanboys who hate on other consoles.
I don't like it when people talk crap about Sony, talk crap about MS, or talk crap about Nintendo. I just don't like people talking crap about these platforms, they have a vested interest in making that platform seem like the devil itself. And a lot of people do that.
@JaxonH "But the problem is people aren't- they lose their temper and start cursing and complaining like the sky is falling over every little tiny thing." Then ignore them cause what they're doing is just whining. What i'm doing and always will do is criticize this company cause as of right now i don't like what Nintendo is doing. And that's why i make those comments on articles. Cause i want what's better for this company,i want to see them keep going.That's why i don't like @Cyber-BLP--,,@DiscoGentleman and @FLUX_CAPACITOR. Cause they hate negativity or criticism on Nintendo and they exaggerate about everything and i hate that (i know they will see this,i could care less)
Look this is my last comment towards you cause i'm tired and i have work tomorrow. I don't hate you,i just hate people (maybe that includes you? Who knows?) that fanboy this company and that takes everything what this company throws at them and don't even think twice about it that don't question what the Big N is doing that could harm them in the long run. I despise that and that's why Nintendo ain't changing,cause they have them and more. That's why i criticize you and many people on here cause of that reason.So there you go see you later friendo.
@TwilightAngel
I think the thing is is a lot of people don't take things as seriously. Or they simply accept the fact that they cannot change certain things and so why waste energy getting upset about it. It's why some people are activists in this world- because they insist they can make change, while others accept the world as it is and see no reason to complain- they are the type that make lemonade out of lemons and always have a smile on their face.
And I think a lot of people don't have a problem with criticism, it's just the manner in which it's executed. For example people make some good arguments against region locking, people also have some legitimate complaints about amiibo stock, and people definitely have some legitimate complaints about the excess number of board games we've gotten this generation and lack of LE's (that's my biggest right there). There are plenty of legitimate critiques and complaints and I think most people don't take issue with that. I think what they take issue with- and this is certainly true for me- is the manner in which people complain.
It's one thing to say "Ya know, I really disagree with this, think it's a bad idea because X, Y, Z" but it's another thing to say "Stupid Nintendo and their archaic policies, this is such a troll move by Nintendo, they never learn, this is why Wii U is dead, etc etc etc"
They say tone is 90% of communication. And I think therein lies the problem.
Excited, but the bundle does come off as arrogant.
Folks like Jaxon and Flux don't come off as fanboys at all imo. They just seem to come off as a bit defensive sometimes because the crazy comments Jaxon pointed out above.
You get people complaining about how Nintendo doesn't release new IPs, the the same people turn around and dismiss and don't buy new IPs like Codename Steam and Splatoon. You have people bashing NoA for supposedly not publishing Devil's Third with comments like "OMG NoA too afraid too publish a M rated title!11!" But then those same folks, after learning that NoA will publish DT bash Nintendo again because "OMG why would publish a game that suxorz!11". I've also seen several more double standards like that but you get the point.
I don't think it has so much to do with being a Nintendo fanboy or hating anything negative. Obviously, Nintendo isn't perfect and they do make mistakes, but there's a certain level of negativity on here that gets out of hand and there will be people that speak out against it. I personally think that level of negativity is toxic and find the whole "Let me see if I can find something negative to pick out of this news" shtick is beyond tiring. Same goes for the double standards I was talking about.
Yar, I wanted an xl but 199 plus tax is quite steep.
Now they come out with smaller n3ds but price them $219. I don't even think I would enjoy Happy Home design as much because it was my least favorite part of new leaf. Did check further review on the smaller version and I guess I might as well go with the XL. hands too big.
Congratulations, Americans!! This is my favourite 3DS model and I've tried them all.
@freaksloan How standard size 3DS is an inferior product? And how N3DS XL is better in every meaningful way, when both are basically the same system?
What are you talking about is your personal preferences. You like bigger system? That's ok. But not all people like giant, fat and heavy system that barely fits in any pocket or bag. I have used DSi XL, and I assure you - this thing was sometimes impossible to carry around. And not forget that smaller N3DS is bigger than classic 3DS. It's size is pretty much perfected as it can still fit everywhere, just like the classic 3DS, AND it has bigger screens, but not big enough to ruins your games with giant pixels. If anything, the giant repulsive pixelisation of the bigger screens is the biggest flaw of the N XL. But yet, if you like that, that's fine.
Anyways it's good to hear NA is getting the smaller system. Bundled or not, that's better than none, and it should be available from the beginning. Though I think it's a little bit too late as majority of people already bought XL and has no reason to buy yet another system (that's why it is probably bundled).
@TwilightAngel
So I just woke up....
I'm buying a PS4 and a load of indie titles soon mate, but thanks for dragging me into a conversation I had no intent of ever being involved in. I don't fan boy and if you have criticisms then fine you can voice them. I've never had an issue with you (I don't hint I even know you but hello anyway) and my issue is with those few who explode in everything this company does is wrong Japanese games suck etc. Etc. No rhyme or reason comments that add nothing to the discussion.
Thanks for the label though, I can probably add it just after my degree in a few years time. Now for a lovely family day out.
@KTT The real problem with 3DSXL and N3DSXL is that the pixels are too separated, the screens have a really poor pixel density so instead of seeing big pixels which wouldn't be that bad you see thick black lines between each line of pixels both horizontally and vertically which is extremely shabby. That's why the smaller New 3DS is actually better.
@mowerdude
None of them do though, so its kind of a moot point where New 3DS models are concerned. Still sucks none the less of course. Anyone who never had a 3DS have an extra $10 to fork out as you said just so Nintendo can save a few pennys on the dollar, and for everybody else a system is going to be missing one either way.
@SahrashaLA
You actually can have more than one of the same system active, the problem is you're limited to, I believe 3 total, or less depending on the type of content and the device. It used to be 5, but it shrunk thanks to people game sharing.
Dealing with customer service is a pain though, I agree. Sony's has a bad reputation, but I've heard bad stories about Nintendo's too. A lot of it depends on who you happen to get on the other end. Some reps are super nice and helpful, others not so much.
@ikki5
Sorry for not responding before Ikki5, but I didn't get the Email notification from your message ;^^.
Anyway I agree and I think Nintendo should have a video tribute or something for Iwata, whether or not Nintendo calls it a Nintendo Direct or something else. I think the video should come in September this month or at least before next year.
As I said Nintendo need to show their app before this fall ends and I think doing it in the tribute video could be okay along side with announcing their new president .
With all the fan pressure I think the Nintendo Directs will return in the future, even if there wouldn't be any normal Nintendo Directs this year. Also a showcase of games that comes out next year in 2016 that we don't know about would be nice .
YES! I NEEDED THIS!!
YES! I NEEDED THIS!!
YES! I NEEDED THIS!!
@Squid_Gangster I'm not, because I have no need for a N3DS. If I DID get one at some point, though, I'd probably get a face plate for something I like (like a Xenoblade face plate for example) and stick with it.
I'm not one for mindlessly spending money on little things so I'd probably shell out some just to get something if I really want it and that'd be good enough for me.
@JaxonH
Well, actions are what define a person, not what you say and until I see you do something different, the "fanboy/apologist" label, won't go away. It is hard to see both sides when you only do one.
@MailOrderNinja
Just pre-ordered mine! Do you have any idea if the copy of Triforce Heroes will be digital or not??
@MuchoMochi Unfortunately it won't be included in the package.
@ikki5
You can apply whatever label to me you so desire. Because I apply the "chronic complainer Nintendo hater" label to you, and until I see something different that won't go away.
And you probably won't see me acting otherwise because the illegitimate complaints on this site are not going away, in fact they're getting worse.
But maybe the day I see people like you go cause a similar ruckus at PushSquare or PureXbox, perhaps then you'll have the opportunity to see me be a "fanboy" for them too. At least then I can go for hat tricks on all 3 sites, the fanboy of all 3 consoles. And you can prove you don't just single out Nintendo to complain about, but that you just complain a lot in general about everyone.
How on Earth did these comments turn ugly? It's not even something divisive like an amiibo or DLC. It's literally a new skin to a system and a model people have clamored for. Why does anyone see the need to get up in arms with people over that?
@Lalivero Ugh, PHYSICAL copies of games? no thank you. Those belong somewhere in a tech museum, next to the VHS rewinder and a floppy disk...
@MailOrderNinja forgive my lack of understanding, does that mean it comes loaded on the system?
@russellohh If you never intend to sell your games again, I guess..I know I will sell my hundreds of retail games at some point.
@manu0 i sell games i'm done with, but i'm rarely ever truly done with a nintendo game. nearly all of my digital games are Nintendo.
@ikki5 @JaxonH
I don't think it is exactly wrong to be a Fanboy or a Fangirl as long as you respect other people :+). What is important I think is to be aware of what you say and take the consequences that comes from it.
Where ever I go whether or not I am offline or online I always try to be positive and potentially give people a smile ^^. I always try to be positive and help people if I can, and in return a lot of people like me :+).
I can't really speak for you two, but I hope I gave you two a okay read and maybe even a reminder . I wish both of you the best and having a happy day ^^.
(I hope this isn't taken as uncomfortable or in a too weird way ;^^).
@MuchoMochi Nope, this is just the system with game sold seperately.
@HollywoodHogan Why would you put someone down about collecting? Most fans of any brand do. I have a friend that buys everything that says OU on it. People who like things tend to buy things they like. Shocking I know.
@MailOrderNinja That's odd, because my pre-order seems to include the game.
http://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-3ds/consoles/nintendo-new-3ds-xl-hyrule-gold-edition-with-the-legend-of-zelda-triforce-heroes/125340
@Kimite
No, thank you
It warms my heart to see people who are genuinely in a good mood and happy.
Thank you that's just what I needed to hear.
Well I wondered why this post has so many comments now I can see why! Who cares if you're a fanboy who cares if you're not? Honestly I've been a Nintendo fan for about 10 years now and while I don't buy everything day one I still wouldn't mind being called a fanboy anyway that's my take on the matter hope it all stops now anyway!
@MuchoMochi Ahh. That is a Game Stop bundle that just comes with a copy of the game and let's you save a little, so it will be a physical game.
@JaxonH
You just ripped on me for living in my mother's basement, which I don't, and bragged about making more money than I do, which you don't (I've seen you post how much you make on here before), yet you get all upset when someone mocks you back? Get a grip. You started it with the personal stuff.
I made a point that some people buy everything Nintendo releases without putting much thought into why, and then you post a rant trying to be the "voice of reason", when you are coming from a position where you own/have likely owned 5-10 different variations on the 3DS and spend hours each week searching foreign websites for amiibo. Again, nothing wrong with that if that's what you want to do, but please, spare us all the attitude that you are just the "average Nintendo fan" or are speaking for the masses, or that your opinions on anything Nintendo aren't biased.
@MailOrderNinja
Sweeeeeeet! I was hoping for a physical copy. it didn't say and this is my first time purchasing a bundled 3DS so I wasn't sure. Thanks man
@JaxonH
No problem and I am happy to help you ^^.
I play games such as Zelda and Kingdom Hearts and I think both of them have helped me become a better person in each their different way :+). Kingdom Hearts especially as it has really influenced me in desire to be good to other people and in general made me a more deep thinking person ^^.
Like: You should be the person and do things that make you happy, and also set yourself free in terms of being a bit fun in a silly way .
I can't speak for you, but I enjoy making people happy ^^.
@JaxonH The thing is, you're the first to label that. It is probably because I talk both positive and negative (in fact, there is evidence in many of the topics on the first page) about it though as of late, a little more negative because there hasn't been much positive, especially in NA. However, many have said what I have said about you. And when I do talk about the negative, there is usually many that agree and it is only you, and sometimes two others that ever attempt and prove me wrong (which often times, you don't and dodge the actual issue).
...What happened to comment section? Does everything have to be a war?
OK.
People that wanted an n3ds: Yay! That's great you can go buy your system now!
People that wanted a different style n3dsxl or are Zelda fans: Yay! That's great! Gamestop can hook you up...(no charger!)
People that don't like either: Well it is Tuesday? Also in the long run it does me that Nintendo makes money that means more games for everybody! So still YAY!
See? Easy Peasy.
Now, I have to go sign up for more overtime to pay for this Zelda 3ds.
@JaxonH Already ordered mine. Buddy of mine was looking at me like "Don't you already carry around two of them right now?"
Me: Yeah...but Zelda...
UGH and I still have to buy the new Taiko no Tatsujin game... Anybody know how long the human body can function off of no sleep?
@ikki5
The only ones who say it about me are the very ones I see as chronically complaining. And I know this may be news to you but there's an entire group of members who feel you (among a few others) only come here to complain. They may not have told you directly, but I'm definitely not the only one who thinks so. The ones who complain a lot never see themselves as doing so, but if those people would look at their activity on the other sites and see it's not negative- in fact it's normal, maybe they would see just how much the negatiiy stands out here.
Also, usually the people I regard as chronic complainers are much more abrasive and A type personality, and much more likely to all anyone who dissents a fanboy for "defending Nintendo" (even if it's an unreasonable accusation). The ones on the other end who see people like you as only coming here to voice discontent, are much more passive and less likely to tell you first hand
@HollywoodHogan
No, I didn't. I said not everyone does. Never specifically said you did.
The bottom line is, don't insult people just because they buy something you claim to not want. If you don't want it don't buy it. But don't ridicule others for what they enjoy. And that's all there is to it
So the North America N3DS is getting the PAL SNES button colours? They do look better but I was expecting them to get the blue/grey colour scheme.
@ryando Pretty sure that would've been to much effort for Reggie
Meh, Mine's bigger.
I upgraded to a regular 3ds xl a year ago. I'll wait and see how the price looks out of the bundle to see if I wanna upgrade yet again.
So NA will then be getting customizable face plates???
It's kinda cool....for those who want either that AC game (which I don't) or that Zelda game (i need a single player zelda game tbqh)....and for those who want that design (i personally prefer my black XL). I don't care about cosmetics (ie: the color of the face buttons)...bigger screen is better for these aging eyes.
Now with the Hrylue 3DS I will own 5 3DS' -_- and 8 overall (sold,traded in)
25th Anniversary Zelda edition 3DS
A Link Between Worlds edition 3DSXL
Yoshi Edition 3DSXL
Majora's Mask Edition N3DSXL
Hyrule Edition N3DSXL
@SahashraLA
Sony's account transfer thing was pretty meh last gen, but it was still better than Nintendo's, who had nothing to transfer (best you could hope for is for them to send credit to your new system). This gen though, they improved and once again are better than Nintendo.
No need to make a phone call.
Just remotely deactivate all your (8th gen) systems from your account in a Web browser, and then reactivate them from the systems themselves. Still would've been nice to just choose only one to deactivate, but oh well.....also would be nice if they could NOT count PSP and Vita as the same thing when it comes to system activations.
@bezerker99
I'm getting the feeling that they're only putting this edition of out to test the waters and have no interest in paying for shelf space for the faceplates.
I think it's great they're bringing the regular New 3DS here but I wish it didn't come in a bundle. I'd rather buy it individually. But still great news for people who will get it!
just went on nintendo of canada's website and they say the suggested retail price is 269.99 for the NEW Nintendo 3DS Animal Crossing bundle. I am the only one who thinks that's a little much? Ugh that's close to 300 CDN with tax. I don't get it at all.
Boo!
@KingofSaiyans
Well, I certainly am. But it's not the fairest of tests. We're currently being given only one way to get one, and it requires us to pay, not $30 less than the XL--like in every other region--but $20 more than the XL (so $50 more than just the system would be). And while that obviously includes a game and faceplates, what about the huge percentage (I would have think the majority) who have no interest in this offshoot game, or those who don't care for the series in general?
Just saying, anyone who really wants the standard size is being forced into paying a lot more for stuff that a lot of us have no interest in. Not exactly a true test of who really wanted this system, that's supposed to be cheaper.
Nevertheless, I pre-ordered it, because I am just that desperate to get one in some fashion. But as I commented earlier, I'm not even going to open it till the end of the year. I'm hoping the standalone white New 3DS gets announced between now and then, so I can get that and sell this one.
So I wake up to check the comments and this is what I'm greeted to? Not surprising. A couple of thoughts:
Wow, it's almost as if @JaxonH listed all the reasons Nintendo did to own a new 3DS. I'm utterly shocked. Those are not compelling reasons. At all. That's certainly not why I bought one. I just liked that particular shade of red.
My eyes are being opened - who knew people bought games day one? Heck, every game I'm interested in I buy before day one. Crazy, right?
Some people collect Nintendo products, some special PS4 editions, some Skylanders, baseball cards, rare retro games and systems, bugs, glass statues... ect, ect... I know a lady who likes to collect stuffed animal pigs. My personal weakness is Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers and obviously amiibo now. Some people like to share pics of their collections with other enthusiasts on a related site. I wonder what kind of lemming that makes me?
Jaxon is a pretty rounded gamer, who truly loves something from every platform. (His pre-order list puts mine to shame, but that's a whole other issue ) So he likes to collect Nintendo things. As does I'm sure a few others on here, myself included. If Nintendo makes special edition of things, then why the heck not if you can afford or have saved up for it? Not sure how that makes him a fanboy, because he took task to someone calling everyone a lemming which honestly was uncalled for, particularly the attack that followed. He's about as passionate about defending certain aspects of gaming in general as people who have opposing viewpoints. Don't see anything wrong with that.
I'm not sure why we can't have civil conversations without resulting to bashing and name calling which 9 out of 10 times it's what starts wars on here. Though I guess it's to be expected in a day and age where you can hide behind an avatar. My shoulder is killing me. I'm going to take my painkillers and try and go back into hibernation...
Also: Don't dis the Lemmings. They're adorable.
@everyone
Wtf happened on here today, it's basically like someone kicked a beehive. I'm just going to stay far away from this one.
@Sir_JBizzle
Amen.
@MyLegGuy It says September 25th
Ok let's stop the drama now.
Mr. Hogan clearly just wanted to start a silly discussion and it worked. He's banned now, so we can stop detailing this article.
OMG FINALLYYYYYY!!!!! camps in front of a gamestop for 27 days
@JaxonH - "I suppose you are correct with regard to the LE Zelda New 3DS XL, but those get announced all the time by retailers"
I guess I was thinking back to the the Zelda WW HD Wii U bundle announcement, which I'm almost positive was in an ND. At least that's how I remember it but I could be wrong.
Also, they said "Confimed", which to me means a confirmation of a previous announcement. If NOA tweeted it first then instead of confirm they would have said "NOA announces". Though that could be a semantics thing, or a British thing, but it was how I read "confirmed" anyway.
Either way, sorry to get you so worked up.
PS - arrgh, sometimes I hate you being right all the time. Well at least it keeps me motivated to be better educated. Turns out WW HD bundle, 2DS and Wii U price drop weren't announced in a Nitneod Direct like I remembered, but at... drum roll please - "Nintendo announced these items at the GameStop Managers Show in Las Vegas,"
So basically I need to start marking the GSMS on my calendar each year to find out what Ntineod is doing. Not PAX, E3 or the Tokyo Game Show, just the Gamestop Managers meeting of all things. Only Nintendo.
@MoonKnight7 @Sir_JBizzle Man, I don't think I wanna know what I missed, I'm just gonna agree w/ you two.
@rjejr
Oh I wasnt worked up, I know it may have sounded like it but that's just me being me.
If I were you, I'd sub to Nintendo of America's twitter account. Then go on desktop twitter account and have emails forwarded as text messages and assign a special ringtone. Then you'll be in the know, the moment stuff gets announced.
Even if they announce elsewhere I'm pretty sure the tweets are near simultaneous, if not first.
@rjejr @JaxonH You didn't miss much. Just a normal day in the NLife comments sections... It always seem to go a little like this:
Too late NoA, I already gave my money to Nintendo of Japan
As someone who wanted this, but picked up ax XL instead... :-/
Still, if that Zelda version is slick, I may consider the absolutely, irretrievably unnecessary purchase on collector grounds.
@JaxonH This NOA twitter feed?
https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica?lang=en
I subscribe. Them, NL, PS, Spoonytech, BarackObama, Ellen, Refinery29, NY MEts, Kevin Smith, Rotten Tomates, William Shatner, Funny or Die and the Suffolk County Job bank.
The Zelda 3DS XL isn't on there that I can find though.
@rjejr
It's not, that's why I was saying you were correct as far as the XL, but the big announcement (original model) that was indeed tweeted.
I really want this! Sigh..... I can't get it right now. Even if I trade in my XL. No funds
@sWiTcHeRoO It's not like you have to play HHD. You can just delete it from the system, if you want.
@ItalianBaptist Buy one of these, import the DBZ bundle, and swap the casings.
@MoonKnight7
I just want to say that I kind of agree with you that the comments here aren't entirely healthy, but unfortunately that could be nearly said about the whole Internet nowadays .
If you sometimes read my comments you will see that I try to spread positivity and make other people happy :+). I hope I am at least doing my share of making Nintendo Life a bit better sometimes .
@Everyone
It is actually our own responsibility to make Internet and in this case Nintendo Life a better place, and I do really try my best :+).
I would say negativity feed on other negativity and in return the negativity problem becomes bigger and bigger. You could say like in Kingdom Hearts darkness feeds on more darkness, but it doesn't mean that we can't look for the light and hold the darkness at bay ^^.
In terms of that the New 3DS instead of saying too late we should say "Better late than never" and I think that sort of attitude is a healthy one . Note: I can't really just blame this community for negativity as this is mostly happening all over internet to some degree ;^^.
What I think need to be done is to spread awareness and be aware of our own actions and what consequences they might have. I see people comment rudely usually get a rudely comment back even if it is unintentional on one or both of the parts in the conflicts.
I know not many people will likely read this comment and I am fine with that, but those who do read my comment I hope I made you a bit happy or at least understand what I am saying . Like what someone on a podcast say that I listen to: Think bout what you put out in the world, make it a better place.
(I am ready for a email flood if anyone want to reply to me, but please make it insightful or at least understanding .
It's funny I just bought the NES 3ds xl a few weeks ago since I thought this would never make it. I didn't like how the New 3ds xl was a finger print magnet. I still pre ordered this anyway, this is too good to pass up.
All new nintendo 3ds come with power adapter in USA and Canada (even i remember old 3ds xl).(You buy "old"nintendo 3ds xl fire emblem limited edition and no power adapter )
In Europe not........ so "old world" law is f****.
Faceplates? Still surprised why give not USA people choice.
I would love to say "Finally!" and "Can't wait to get this for Christmas" but no, these will definitely be gone by the time I could actually get it. I wasn't ready Ninten.
Already preordered it
Preordered mine yesterday as soon as I noticed the announcement.
I been waiting since the "new" 3ds was announced and refused to buy the one I didn't want. I really thought I would have to wait until christmas but I guess Reggie finally decided to listen.
@earthboundlink
It looks absolutely slick, and I certainly, unnecessarily, irretrievably feel the need to add it to my collection.
@Flowerlark
So how expensive are games for a PAL handheld? One of the benefits of playing games in my own region (NA) is that I can buy them for 20% off at Best Buy through gamers club unlocked membership. I have considered buying a PAL handheld for some time, but am curious how expensive it is to buy games, and where the cheapest place is that you personally found. I know I could probably just buy on one of the EU Amazon sites, but that $15 shipping kills any value. Another option would be Play-Asia since they sell all regions of games. But perhaps I'm missing a few places that you know of?
@FLUX_CAPACITOR
I'm over it. He's banned now and rightfully so. We can enjoy this comment section in peace.
@Kimite
I know I spoke to you earlier but I was just now reading more of your comments and I'm really blown away by your positive attitude and friendly approach.. You really set a great example and I believe are a model member of the site. I'm not sure how many people will read your comments or even take them to heart, but know that you'd have at least rubbed off on one person here, and I think I'm going to try to learn from your positive outreach.
@JaxonH But did NOA tweet before or after it was announced at the meeting? I swear next year I'm finding out when the meeting will be and being prepared.
@Sir_JBizzle
Lemmings was so much fun!
@rjejr
Well, the whole issue for you was getting notice right? As long as you get notice of when stuff goes live you're good. See, another reason you should have joined the amiibo goon squad. It's not all amiibo ya know. We also have a deals alert chat for deals (like today scored eShop and PSN cards for 10% off), website glitches where you can get 2 games for like $20, preorder alerts for NON amiibo items- we were alerted to these New 3DS models before even GameStop knew they were selling them and other noteworthy deals and Collector Edition alerts. And we have a gaming chat for playing Splatoon, Gears Ultimate, Mario Kart, Call of Duty... Whatever game we wanna play online together.
Anyways, not a bad list for 3DS games. At least Fire Emblem Awakening is in there. Just make sure to get Fates, probably both versions (who wants less of the greatest game ever made? Absolutely no one! Buy both!)
And if you didn't have Zelda Link Between Worlds on your list, you really need to edit that in right after Fire Emblem. It is my favorite Zelda I've ever played. Others of note are Etrian Odyssey Fafnir Knight, Mario Golf World Tour (trust me it's excellent, WAY more than you expect), Star a Fox 64 (playing this one in 3D should be mandatory for your 3DS owners entrance exam), Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (give this one a chance, trust me- it's come a long way from what you played on Wii), Little Battlers eXperience (this one surprised me- it's the game I'm playing now and it's CHOICE).
Also, Tales of the Abyss is like the greatest Tales game ever made, and there's Legend of Legacy coming out next month in a BEAUTIFUL collectors edition for just $40 ($31.99 with GCU @BB, this one is huge like Bravely Default), and Final Fantasy Explorers releases in January if you wanna get down on some playtime with me.
And of course don't miss Resident Evil Revelations, or Mario Kart 7 or Smash Bros, and of course Code Name STEAM if you liked the demo. It was on sale today for just $20 ($15.99 with GCU). And you can never go wrong with Ocarina or Majoras Mask, and games like Kirby and Yoshi are decent ebough.
And don't forget about the eShop! Mario vs DK Tipping Stars is crossbuy, remember (and FANTASTIC). Pushmo, Crashmo and Stretchmo are choice, Box Boy is absolutely brilliant (black and white box platformer by HAL Labratories), Dr Mario Miracle Cure is great if you're a Dr Mario fan, Shantae Pirates Curse and Shovel Knight were meant to be played in 3D, and you would really dig the Pokemon free to play I think.
Got all that?
@rjejr
If there's nothing else you got out of that post, just repeat these words, "I must play Fire Emblem. I must play Monster Hunter. I must play Zelda"
If you can at least do that much you'll be A-OK
Great, so now all 36 people wanting it can get it - and the rest go for the XL.
Do we know when you'll be able to buy this without the animal crossing stuff?
@ianolivia Yes, I could, but you're paying for the system WITH the game that's in it. I'd rather that be another game instead of one IDC for.
@Spideron
Hey, there's 37 of us, thank you very much.
@MyLegGuy
No, nor do we know for sure if it's coming. (This is NOA, after all.) As I mentioned earlier, I pre-ordered this (in case it's all we ever get), but I plan on leaving it new and unopened through the end of the year. If they announce the non-bundle by then, I'll sell this and buy that one (the one I wanted, as I have zero interest in Animal Crossing, and am not enamored with having to pay $50 extra for stuff I don't want). If they don't by then, then I'll settle for this and open it up (and sell the AC stuff).
@russellohh Until Nintendo gets their act together(which we cannot completely confirm until the NX is out and beyond), I'm not wasting my time downloading retail titles..
I've already had a run in before that resulted in me having to do a remote transfer, and guess what? While my titles were safe(thankfully this was after NNIDs came about) themselves, my saves were unable to be saved(pun intended) and all my streetpass-related stuff was gone(for someone who had all puzzle pieces and all games done pretty much, and being in an area where I hardly get any hits, you can bet I was irked to all heck about that). It's enough to have to lose that stuff for smaller eshop only titles, but retail titles? I probably would scream so loud that anyone in earshot would lose their hearing.
Once Nintendo can finally catch up in that respect, I wouldn't be -as-(I'd still catch anything physically as I can) hesitant on having to download the bigger titles and such.
And this is only covering one argument on why physical better suits someone like myself.
@JaxonH
Yeah, I remember you really well and I am glad you that I touched you so much, as I hope it might make you happier . I try to be positive and friendly to everyone, and it gives me so much back like you did just now ^^. I really appreciate that you want to call me a role model and I can in a way understand why :+), even if it makes me a bit embarrassed that you say it ;^^.
Also I think I already see that you are becoming friendlier, as I read the comment you sent to rjejr . I will say just keep the good work up and you will be fine :+).
(The + in the smilies is just to prevent a overflow of the bright smilies).
Edit: Forgot to say this, how does being negative make my day or anyone else day better really? .
@NTELLIGENTMAN Dude it includes a $40 game and 2 non basic cover palates... how is that a rip off?
@FLUX_CAPACITOR @ikki5 @JaxonH (This isn't really directed meant to you JasonH, but I thought you might want to read it).
While I haven't really read all of ikki5's comments I will say that there are at least two types of trolling that can't really be blamed that much.
The first one is unintentional trolling and in my view that would be a comment that wasn't meant at all as trolling, just came out that way.
The second one is unconscious trolling and that is trolling comments over time, but the writer doesn't realize it, as it is a part of their general online attitude. (I mean this in a very mild form).
I am not sure if ikki5 fits in one of these two categories, but I hope this might help clearing up the argument as I want to help .
When I am saying something negative, I always try to balance it with something positive ^^.
Like this for example: I think the Wii U should have been marked way, the battery goes out way too fast, the Gamepad should had a integrated function that lets you take one small game on the go, Wii U maybe wasn't the best name, the full version of Art Academy should have been with the Wii U from the start, way more Square Enix games... Still in the end I love my Wii U and the Off-TV function, and of course all the fun games within my taste .
I don't know what you 2/3 think, but I like to be positive ^^. In the end I am happy for that you Americans finally are getting the regular New 3DS .
If this came out with the XL I might have gotten in but now that time has passed, I've moved on. Maybe I'll pick it up used in a year or so.
@Lalivero you don't back your SD cards up on at least a monthly basis?
@russellohh I do back them up, but the data would not work with the system I had things moved to.
@Lalivero ooo that sucks! i've never had that happen with a Nintendo, but i've had it quite a few times with Origin and Steam. Its obnoxious
@Lalivero @russellohh
Yeah, that's pretty much the only reason I can't justify switching to digital yet--not being comfortable having all my games bound to one system, in case something happens to it. (Well, also the fact that you can usually find a place where you can buy a game for cheaper than the normal MSRP in physical form, whereas the digital one is locked at the one price, excluding a rare sale now and then. Kind of ridiculous that the digital version will normally cost you more.)
If not for that, I'd definitely go digital. I do like the convenience of having all my games on the system, not having to switch them out, etc. Hopefully someday, when Nintendo gets on the ball with this.
@Rocky2418 i DO understand their login system, to a degree. With Steam, i can play almost none of my games without being logged into the internet. I have 2 friends 1000s of miles apart that log in as me and play my games when i am away- as soon as i log in, they get kicked off. That's fine, since its on a desktop gaming PC that CAN have a server connected. The 3DS is an online system, but its a handheld-people take it shopping, camping, on the bus. Outside of adding a data plan to it, if all you need was a log in, i'd sooo sell my login name for $200 and let 5,000 people log in as me and play all my games...
@JaxonH You do realize I just turned 50 and I'll be dead before I get to half of those, right? Mario golf is a non-starter though, not the least bit interested. The rest sounds good though.
Speaking of glitches, or at least something I can't explain, just ordered SMM and a book boxset for my kids. SMM was $59.88 - 11 cents cheaper than the DL, book set was $19.61, but Amazon gave me $9.89 off. No idea why, but I'll take it. I think maybe that's supposed to be the shipping which gets discounted w/ Prime, but they never charged it.
I may hook up w/ you guys when I get back from vacation. I'm still not buying amiibo, but I have lots of other stuff to get for the holidays.
Oh, and I have a cool photo for you I just took at Gamestop, give me a sec.
@rjejr
You get $10 off Mario Maker @Amazon with Prime. That's why it was $10 less
@JaxonH "You get $10 off Mario Maker @Amazon with Prime."
Yeah, I definitely need to hook up w/ you guys, had no idea about that, and I'm a Prime member since January.
Here's the photo, maybe more than a sec.
@rjejr
Only $80 for that life size Link statue lol? Not bad! That may be the Comic Con Link actually. They had one that size for around $60-80 at Comic Con and I can't imagine too many manufacturers make a Godzilla size Link.
You should buy that and set it on your kitchen table to display like how people have a vase of flowers on their table lol. See what the old lady think about that
I would, but it would clash w/ our Star Trek and Planet of the Apes collection.
Besides, I need that $80 for the XCX collectors edition I let you talk me into.
@rjejr
Have you signed up for Gamers Club Unlocked yet at BestBuy? If not you really should. It saves you 20% on every new game for 2 entire years, and for just $30.
We plan to catch that Xenoblade CE at BestBuy. If you join our LINE and get a preorder in with us as a GCU member, that would pay for all but $10 of the sub price ($79.99 with GCU so $20 off). And one more game would save you $12 so you'd already be profiting.
We know how to play the game. It's time we bring you in as our apprentice and teach you "the way". BB sells out fast use to everyone wanting to take advantage of GCU discount. So we lock in a preorder at Amazon just in case, but assuming we grab one at BestBuy we'll just cancel those Amazon orders.
@JaxonH My concern w/ BBGCU is once I sign up I'll be wanting to buy games all the time, which you know darn well I can't afford. I make out OK using CAG. I may still hook up w/ you guys though, even if I don't do Unlocked. 5 day vacation awaits though. It's going to be eerily quiet around here w/o me I think. Much cheerier though.
@rjejr
Hmm, if you can't resist from spending more than maybe not a good idea. But paying more than you have to is perhaps not the best deterrent to spending more...but that's something only you can answer for yourself.
Enjoy your vacation, and when you get back I'll be looking forward to playing some levels you and your kids create in Mario Maker. If you wanna join when you get back, just download the LINE app on your phone, create an account and @ me your ID. Then I'll friend you and add you to the chat.
Strangely enough I think you cheer this place up. In you're own way of course
This is ridiculous, I went to go buy the New 3DS XL on the 29th of August because I faced the fact that Japan will never release the regular sized version to North America, and guess what happens...THIS. I am so unlucky -.-
Already per-ordered!!!
@Radbot42 Just so you know I went in store and preordered one for a buddy of mine. 50 bucks down. So if you haven't already check and see if your local gamestop has any left.
@123akis yo dude i like made a mess in my pants when i saw your comment because i never used my 3ds much but i have you as a friend on it and we used to use that chat thing alot
@JAKILLER Hello there! I looked at my friend list just now and I don't see any Jakiller?
its 2016 this article is a year old and I still cannot find any non XL new 3DS'es for sale at ebgames or bestbuy.
@SuperPokefan95 hi I'm AstralRedStar705! I'm looking for 3DS friends, and I was wondering if you would be interested in adding me, and if you used Discord.
