Rumour: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Has Been Delayed

Since nobody gives a $&%# about my opinion about Vigil Games and how it has changed through the years I won't give it. What I will do is buy this game and show that there's a market for Darksiders 3.

I've got this on order at Amazon after thoroughly enjoying 2. Not that fussed for the delay, as it's exactly the same as all the other games I'm going to buy soon- Return to Arkham, The Last Guardian, FF15, and Zelda BOTW. It's expected of games these days to be delayed.

My Amazon orders tells me mine EU copy isn't shipping until January. I thought this was the planned release date.

My Amazon UK copy has always said 31st Dec 2016, which I've presumed was always an error. I've no idea when to expect it, but at £14.99 I'm not complaining!

Compared to the delays we've put up with for Zelda: BOTW this is nothing. As long as I have it in time for Christmas I'll be happy.

Same as above, I wasn't expecting mine until end of December, so anything before then is a bonus.

@HappyMaskedGuy What's in it for them is that they create a positive image of themselves as far as Nintendo owners are concerned, and if/when they are going to release a third game in the series, chances are when this comes to NX, that the same people that bought this game on the Wii U, will also buy any new part in the series on NX.

So, what they are doing is creating a following amongst Nintendo owners. It's more or less a calculated risk of setting up future releases for more profit by creating brand recognition/positivity.

A bit of mutual back scratching, so to speak...

@ThanosReXXX I wholeheartedly agree with you. THQ Nordic want to move up in the gaming world as a major publisher and they need to build as many bridges as possible. Nintendo while struggling with the Wii U they were not too long ago top dog and if the NX is a success THQ Nordic will be in a strong position to take advantage of it due to their relatively strong Wii U support.

PS4 and Xbox One versions were delayed from October to November. Last I checked - every day for the past week - Gamestop US doesn't have the Wii U version listed at all, Amazon and Walmart had December 31, which is usually a placeholder date.

Edit - Just checked the Gamestop app, still not there for Wii U.

@ThanosReXXX Well good for them. Would be nice if more games companies had the same foresight to invest in Nintendo console owners. If I have the cash, I'll reward their gamble with a purchase. Thanks for the mature response.

I will get this game regardless because I want to see the series continue on. The story for Darksiders was very powerfull. The ending was nothing short of perfect storytelling, for me. I hope that if the games continue that the same care is put in the sequels.

@HappyMaskedGuy You're welcome. It seemed like you had a genuine question there, so why shouldn't I answer that in a normal way? Seemed like the thing to do in my opinion. And being a sales & marketing professional myself, I recognized the pattern of their behavior. Although honestly, I don't think that you have to be in my line of work to put 2 and 2 together, so I think in the end, you might have come up with the answer yourself.

From what I've read from you so far throughout various articles, you don't really come across as a non-intelligent person.

I just finished darksiders 2 and I really liked it. The end piece was sloppy and the overworld useless but everything else was awesome.

@erv Still playing 2, I like it quite a bit, surprisingly, not the smoothest game around, screen tear and all, but the characters/action even the story are all pretty decent, so If I finish it in time I'll pick up the first since I've never played it.

They don't have competition from many other Wii U games this xmas. So if they make this port a good one it could sell pretty decent.

Was hoping to be playing this by Halloween, but I'm not too tore up about it. Will still be snatching it up the moment that it becomes available.

delay for games are so common now-a-days, I'm just happy we only have to wait a month, unlike some games people have been waiting years to play (Breath of the Wild since 2015, poor playstation people have been waiting for The Last Guardian since like 2007!). End of November seems like a good time to release anyways, it will give me something to play before waiting for March

I though this game was so boring. After an hour in, I just didn't feel like playing anymore.

Now prototype is a game I'd like to see ported!

@khaosklub Abd here, I'm completely the opposite. I found Prototype to be extremely uninspired (having followed Witchblade and the Darkness) and remember being mesmerized by Darksiders' Zelda like gameplay and graphic art style. 2 was a bit of a let down, but the Gamepad actually helped simplify alot of the micromanagement the game added.
I have the poster hanging on my wall (framed and signed) and was a huge fan of the comic they did.
Darksiders 3 remains my most anticipated yet unconfirmed title. I like the idea of playing a shorter story but from multiple perspectives and would even welcome an episodic installment with a stronger conclusion.
As an aside, I'm excited to play Color Splash with my gf and her son, BotW on the 'NX', FFXV (sue me, I liked Kingsglaive), Rise of the Tomb Raider with classic Lara, Nier Automata, and Persona 5 (wasn't before, but I dig that Collector's Edition).
I don't wanna beat a dead horse here, but Nintendo is losing NX sales by withholding information.
Sony has shown PSVR isn't just a PS4 thing, and Microsoft is killing it with the XB1S. With Pro and Scorpio coming in less than 6 months, NX has about a month before people get into holiday mode and stop caring about what could be. It's just not a time of the year (spring) when people care that much about new hardware. The September to December window is half done (when you don't count the last week of the year) and still no news.

@Captain_Gonru Well, I wouldn't call that another factor, that's more or less a part of what I explained earlier (the calculated risk they're taking).

The fact that there aren't that many more titles to be released on the Wii U is more of an added bonus for Nordic Games themselves because if Wii U gamers still want to have something to play besides Mario Color Splash and Zelda Breath of the Wild, then this will pretty much be their only option.

@ThanosReXXX @Captain_Gonru You guys are missing the main point, Wii U version doesn't have a date yet, Gamestop doesn't have it listed, so I'm thinking download only is on the table. Wii U sections are so small, there are almost no games left, people aren't going to be looking for Wii U games this holiday b/c there aren't any, Skylanders is the last big one as Just Dance will probably sell better on the Wii. So yes, if it is on a Wii U disc people might buy it b/c there aren't any other Wii U games, or Wii U is so dead dead, the 13mil Wii U owners are all going to buy a PS4 or X1S this holidsy, so if they want to play the game, they can play it on there. No reason to put out a Wii U disc nobody is going to buy, Zelda being on NX means it's time to unplug the Wii U, and no one is keeping it plugged in just for a 5 year old game.

Other option, they ported it to NX instead, and they are waiting game for Nintendo to announce it so they can say "moved" rather than "canceled".

But it won't be out on disc on Wii U before the holiday, not w/o a date in mid October or a Gamestop listing.

@rjejr No, I'm not missing any points at all, weighed and considered the lot of them, and what I've said before is my final conclusion. And it will be on disc, they've already said that before.

@Captain_Gonru There definitely is a risk. It is a completely remastered edition, hence the (decidedly horrible) subtitle "Warmastered Edition". And they also re-scaled the graphics, so there will still be plenty of months work done on it with probably an average sized team (anywhere between 16 - 30 people).

And of course the whole putting it on disc again and the marketing campaign surrounding it will mean that the total amount of the investment will still mean that it's a considerable effort they're making for a console that is all but dead, so it can practically be nothing else than a lure and a tipping of the hat towards Nintendo gamers, in hopes that it creates loyalty towards their next titles that will come to NX.

Ergo: a calculated risk. Enjoy your coffee...

@ThanosReXXX They already said that before. Really, that's your argument? B/c The Last Guardian wasn't supposed to be a PS3 exclusive and Zelda U wasn't supposed to be a Wiig U exclusive - it had U in its name for 2 years - and Project Cars wasn't supposed to be on Wiig U?

And "on disc" was only half the point, "before the holiday" was the other. It was the last sentence, I even separated it for dramatic effect. If the other 2 versions are out in November and Wii U in January, who cares, it's one less holiday release.

@Captain_Gonru They aren't re-releasing the second game, so I don't think you should see this as doubling the textures in Darksiders 2. Just take a look at the Xbox 360 version (because that was leading in development) of the original Darksiders, and slap the improvements on that, and you will get some idea of what we're going to get.

Either way, this is definitely a worthwhile purchase as far as I am concerned. I thoroughly enjoyed the first game on my Xbox 360. And we should support them, if they are willing to take this effort to put the game on a Nintendo console. That does indeed deserve something from Wii U owners as well. And it can be a nice gift to another Wii U owner you might know if for some reason it's not your type of game. (generally speaking, of course)

@rjejr Took another look at that Project CARS cover. There's a BIG difference between that one and the Darksiders one. First off, it's actually not official, but just a placeholder, and second: they don't have an actual shot of the box. The Darksiders one is an actual, physical box. I checked in PhotoShop. That box is what makes it more official. The closest that Project CARS ever came to that is this one:

You can clearly see that it is not a real box, but a drawn one, and on top of that, it's just a Project CARS image pasted on top of another game's box art, as you will clearly be able to see at the bottom and in the top left corner. No Photoshop needed to check that one...

So, even not being as sharp as I could be, I still have a point. Weekend saved...

@Captain_Gonru All American comics are available here. Amsterdam truly is a very modern city with all of the world's comforts and luxuries. But I'm not collecting comics anymore. I sometimes download some digital ones, but at one time it was a hobby of mine to buy physical comics, but it got totally out of control and I had to stop cold turkey. Go and watch that live stream whenever you have the time. It's uploaded now and it's about 1,5 hours. A lot of questions are answered, including some of mine, as you will hear...

As for Amsterdam (and actually most big cities here): they are quite America-oriented, so anything you can get there, you can get over here. We even have an official American Book Center in Amsterdam and some other cities for all non-comic related reading material.

@Captain_Gonru Thanks, Spamalot was great, there's something about being in the 5th row of a live theater that you can't get from a movie, like when props go wrong and the actors just turn to look at you and shrug their shoulders and laugh. Might have helped that it was opening night so it was all new to them as well.

Those HNF comments look good. Even if there is a Go controller that only functions as a VMU at least VMU power in 2017 will be a lot more powerful than in 1999. (Interestingly enough, V2 was the card that introduced SLI, which parts of NX could wind up using. Or maybe not.)

They are from verified leaker Tenkay, a NeoGAF and Reddit member that has been dropping stuff like this regularly. Needless to say that salt is needed, but personally, I don't see anything out of the ordinary in there, so nothing is overly exaggerated and the power level is also something that's fairly achievable.

I myself always thought it was going to be something along the lines of 2,5 - 2,8 TFlops, but more is obviously better, especially for third party support...

Oh, did you know that AMD is holding their own quarterly meeting on the 20th? Perhaps we will finally hear something about that final semi-custom design win, even though they're not really obligated to mention that in a financial report, but someone might have the clarity of mind to ask them about it, since it's a live event...

Would be nice if we first get a "yes, the final win is for Nintendo" and then a reveal or at least a confirmation of a scheduled event shortly after that...

And otherwise there's still Nintendo's own shareholder meeting on the 26th. I'm pretty confident you'll still be around by then...

If by that you mean that people should buy another console INSTEAD of the NX, then I would certainly hope they would NOT follow through, because that could potentially be disastrous for both Nintendo and NX.

@Captain_Gonru I'm not under estimating RDR2 interest, I'm saying none of those 65 million copies were on Nitneod consoles, and if Nitneod announced BG&E2 as an NX exclusive on Friday the people who cared about NX would still care about NX and they wouldn't care about RDR2. GTA6 isn't going to interfere w/ NX either. Or even Half Life 3. Do you know how the internet will melt down if that ever happened? And it will have the same minimal effect on the NX.

But as for the console, it has to hit it out of the park, AND it has to sell like hot cakes. But all because of our impatience and Nintendo's incommunicado, we've gotten to this point where we are apparently prone to wishing them ill or hoping that their new console will fail, just to teach them a lesson or make them listen? That's utter lunacy, man...

And apparently, we (myself included) have also forgotten a bit of history, something that our friend @Shiryu had to remind me of in the latest NX thread and that is that we've had a similar waiting period between the GameCube and the Wii.

Maybe that had some more games to tide us over or not as much hype (although I actually remember a LOT of hype for what was then still called the "Revolution") back then, but in any case: this is indeed like he said more or less a matter of Nintendo does what it does and although the company may have changed and operates a little different internally, in their outward behavior toward the public and the media, they are still their usual self, so they'll reveal when they'll reveal.

And it's a damn hobby, so even though I'm also quite tired of the rumors without any official communication whatsoever, I will never get so worked up that I would wish them ill.

@Captain_Gonru FFXV won't cost me an extra $40 if I ever get around to canceling my pre-order. Amazon sent me an email about some FFXV website they set up - hope I can find it again - so I'm holding onto that pre-order, but I won't purchase it, not even w/ the Amazon Prime 20% discount. I'll pick up a PS4 bundle for Christmas w/ either U4 or RotTR, and then buy Ratchet & Clank and inFamous 2nd Son for about $15 each. That will do for now. I won't waste time on wishing Ntineod ill will, I'll just take my family and move on to Sony and MS consoles. Then it 4 years when NX goes on clearance we'll pick 1 up w/ a few Selects titles worth owning.

@ThanosReXXX I'm having the weirdest deja-vu right now, my life is pretty much the same as it was 10 years ago: No new games coming for GameCube (2006)/ Wii U (2016), reassembled PS2 (2006)/PS3 (2016) and playing catch up on all I have been missing out on Sony system exclusives while waiting for that awesome new system, the Wii (2006) / The codename NX (2016) that tags along with all new awesome Zelda game: "Twilight Princess" (2006) / "Breath of the Wild" (2016). Well a Sony or MS website would likely spend more time covering RDR2 then NX, but they'd more likely cover any game on a Sony or MS console than NX. Every other news outlet in the world will spend more time covering new Nintendo hardware than a new game by Rockstar.

Now if if were E3, and Rockstar announced RDR2 and Ntineod announced NX, it might have been closer, but I think with the 20 months of waiting for NX news, and knowing NX is supposed to launch in March and RDR2 in autumn, (and since it's a PS4 game likely spring 2018, you heard it here first), I think NX wins for most websites. IGN, Gizmodo, Engadget, any website not specially Sony or MS focused will cover new super special ultra secret hardware due in 6 months more than a game due in a year. B/c they know, they have at least 1 year, probably more, to get clicks on RDR2, but the clicks on NX will only last a few days and then nobody will care anymore.

So no, no game gets more coverage than a new hardware reveal. Especially w/ Nintendo on a roll. Not for us Wii U fans, they threw us under the bus and all rolling over us, but Pokemon Go, Pokemon S&M, Super Mario Run, NES Mini Classic - did you see it on the Today Show a couple of weeks ago as 1 of this years hot Christmas gifts? - Nintnedois having it's moment, and that moment will continue the the NX reveal. Whether that will be the summit or the bottom I don't know, but it will be a huge deal for all media outlets. It's Nitneod. RDR2 will NOT be on Today.

And I've tried a number of them, but they are just too slow and boring to play. I need dwarfs and elves. Though Zelda is too slow for me too, actually I need parties of 3 - mage, healer, warrior. I'm a JRPG guy.

@rjejr Well, in my experience, Red Dead Revolver is anything BUT slow and boring. @Captain_Gonru I'm not so much comparing NES Mini to NX as I am using it as a piece of the puzzle as to why Nintendo is hot right now and the NX hardware reveal THIS WEEK would take precedence over RDR2. Though I'll grant you this, probably best not to have the ND at 11AM Thursday morning, same time as that trailer, but Friday would be fine.

So I just went back and read your original post which started this discussion - at least I think you started it, I'm not interested enough in RDR to bring get it up - and you said it was too late for Nintendo, Rockstar had already won this week. And I still think a hardware reveal of NX would win this week. Well unless it sucks, or costs too much, or doesn't have any new games only Wii U ports. But I still think hardware over software in any given week.

@rjejr Since that's not in the same segment, I don't think it's going to be of much influence on the video game industry or its dedicated media and journalism.

As for hardware over software: I'm going to take a page out of your book, and go 50-50 on that one. Zelda Breath of the Wild won the E3 2016 over hardware announcements from both Sony and Microsoft. The latter even having a full presentation of their model S.

If NX is Wii U 2 in all but name, then I'll give it to Rockstar.

And while Apple and MS aren't in the same space - though Apple hardware will have 1 more "new" Mario game than Nintnod hardware in December, SMM being a "port" - this goes back to my earlier point on "coverage". You need to give "news" outlets a heads-up when you are going to announce things. If Engadget, Gizmodo and all the others have people at the MS event in NYC, well they won't be watching an ND while they are sitting in the audience now will they? People at the Apple event won't be watching an ND at that time either. So yes, a different market perhaps, Super Mario Run though, a brand spanking new Nintneod Mario game announced at an Apple event, who knows what will be announced at this new Apple event for MacOS? And major news outlets tend to cover anything Apple and MS due via their "Tech" and "Business" departments. Anybody worried about 1 videogame overshadowing a new Nintendo console should be worried about NX being relegated by new MS and Apple announcements.

Come next week, mainstream media will have a lot more coverage of MS and Apple than Rockstar. That's my point, mainstream media will cover NX over RDR2 as well if it gets revealed on Friday. If Nintendo only announces Friday that the NX reveal will be on Monday, well Rockstar owns this week, and we'll see what next week brings.

The woman has no technical knowledge whatsoever and thinks that a tablet wit crappy battery life and a noisy fan (where the hell do you put a fan in a handheld/hybrid? If that is supposed to win them back a piece of the market, then I will honestly be completely baffled if they actually succeed.

And I have no idea why everyone keeps munching on her rug, I even saw some numbskulls in the latest NX article here spreading her gospel of a weak, gimmicky tablet device and professing their faith in her. A part of me wants/yearns to respond, but the other part of me says I'd better not, since it would only escalate into something bad, because I will bury them. In facts, that is...

I just don't think she's all that trustworthy, since besides her lack of knowledge, she is mostly known for having contacts in the indie scene, and these will have little to no access to the hardware. And even Serkan Toto, who she previously got some acknowledgment from concerning one of her rumors, is now in disagreement with her, or rather: she with him. That's how full of herself she is. And overall, she's been wrong WAY more often than she has been right, but even media quote her as being right about things. Even as recent as this year's E3, she made 3 capital mistakes: Mother 3 localization, voice acting in Zelda Breath of the Wild, and a female Link as a selectable character. All proven wrong, but nobody mentions that anymore for some odd reason. Normally we'd say: "three strikes, you're out!". But hey, she was right about Paper Mario, even though she copy/pasted half of that "prediction" from somebody else...

Apparently, only successes matter in verifying a person's reputation. And in the past she's also been wrong before on multiple counts. Her total hit/miss ratio is about 20/80, so she's mostly wrong. Back then, she even disappeared from the internet for almost an entire year because of all the backlash she got, and now with her new account, she is doing the exact same thing.

My prediction is that she is wrong again and will also once again disappear because this time, the backlash will be even bigger and more aggressive, and I will definitely be joining in.

I positively HATE arrogant people, especially if they have no idea what they are talking about. People like SMD, PE and HNF may also not know all that they think they know about NX, but at least they are all people with a technical background, that have a firm grip on the possibilities and cost of the tech behind the story, so they speculate from knowledge, not (only) from hear-say.

They propose what in their opinion is more likely to happen, and even if they are wrong, then it was still only their idea, and not a definite prediction, like she is doing and like EuroGamer said, that their concept sketched what NX actually "is" instead of saying "might be". Nothing is set in stone, but there is simply more evidence against ms. Roger's list, that she so confidently puts out there...

She probably has a problem with needing too much attention, otherwise you wouldn't come back for more with a new account after you've already been chased off the internet before...

As crazy as you think I am for being 50-50, I do think there will be another cheap platform in late 2017 to replace the 2DS, which is already $79, so it would only be $49 next year, making it cheaper than the $59 SNES Mini. Which is why it can't be called Duo now.

No Nviidia though in any of it, which has nothing to do w/ her, that's just from discussions w/ you. I'm not all in on AMD yet, DMP M3400 in SLI could still work. Maybe.

For all we know she looks just as Nibelsnarfing ugly as that gender bender "Laura Kate" from Let's Play Videogames. Nintendo certainly does attract some weird characters...

And I know the C&D's are for videos, but he gave notice of them on Twitter. I didn't mean that he had to remove tweets. And you are partially right, at least and he has even now tweeted about it, but from the two live streams that he was ordered to take down, only one contained a snippet of Nintendo gameplay, so there is definitely something else going on on top of that.

I have been present at all 5 podcasts, and I haven't seen anything warranting a C&D, other than that little bit of gameplay in one of them. That does certainly raise some questions, now doesn't it?

@rjejr And DMP in a home console/home base could theoretically work, yet there is one "little" snag in that story that we can't overlook: DMP has up til now only made SoC's for mobile/portable devices such as phones and camera's, so that would be a first for them. I'm not doubting that they could pull it off, but it's not really a smart move for both them and Nintendo, because for DMP it would be their first foray into none-portable SoC's and for Nintendo it would be putting trust in a partner that has no experience in that area...

And besides: all their chips are ARM based, so that would give WAY too much wiggle room for the whole [email protected], tabletty hybrid idea again, and I categorically refuse to believe that one until Nintendo themselves send me a C&D and tell me to stop believing in that silly and "completely" impossible AMD rumor...

And if you haven't watched or listened to any of these podcasts, then you've missed out on a hell of a lot of good stuff. I was there live, SMD was there, PE was there, all level-headed people were regulars and were commenting in these podcasts. True, the first one was a bit amateuristic, what with the first 13 mins. messed up, but subsequent ones got better and better, and now they have a dedicated following, also with the aforementioned big YouTube names. And that's actually quite an achievement for two Dutch guys...

And now, out of the total of five they have done, two of them had to be removed due to having the tiniest bits of video and sound fragments of Nintendo in them, which strangely only leaves nrs. 1, 3 and 5, so the even numbers had to be removed. Illuminati take note...
