Re: Editorial: With Lowered Expectations E3 Can Still Be Full of Nintendo Magic

Rin-go

The funny thing is, I didn't want NX at E3. I wanted them to focus on games for the Wii U and 3DS. I also didn't want an NX release this year. I thought early 2017, like March or April, would make a nice date. Because by the time the holidays come you'll have a nice line-up of software. 2012-2017 sounds nicer, too. And I wouldn't buy a new console this year anyway.
I wish I would have posted all this as a rumour. That way I would now be a reliable source. =P

What I'm meaning to say is that I'm not really bothered by E3 this year. I wished there was a Direct, though. I hope they'll upload some trailers, because I don't think I'll watch the Treehouse Live, as I usually don't want to see too much of a game before release.
I hope for a surprise or two, though. Even if it's only an eShop game or DLC. I just want something nice to look forward to.

Re: Video: These Fan-Made Concepts For Splatoon, Animal Crossing And Mario Kart Should Give Nintendo Pause For Thought

Rin-go

I don't think that @Syrek24 was talking about not criticising. He was talking about constant bashing, which is a major difference.
You see it often enough that things get brought up again and again. Just say the name Miyamoto and people point to Sticker Star. Things like that. Isn't it enough eventually? Can't people, like, let it go?

I hardly come to this site anymore, but when I read some comments it feels like I've read the same comments by the same users like a year or two ago.

@Coffee_Drinker
Is a character that has deeper relations to other characters a blank slate anymore, though?

Re: Nintendo Publishes Part Two of the Miyamoto and Hayashi Star Fox Zero Interview

Rin-go

@NintendoFan64
You hardly see constructive criticism, though.

@Yalaa
And what is this getting with the times about? Is getting with the times releasing one of the most popular fighting games with little content? Is it releasing PC ports, which don't even work properly? Is it 30fps for that cinematic feel?
Yes, I'm being quite sarcastic, because all this going with the times seems like a buzzword to me.
You could easily turn it around and say not allowing motion controls and second screen gaming is being behind the times. You don't even have these options on PS4 and X1 games.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo's Next Generation Handheld Is Codenamed "MH"

Rin-go

@yuwrite
Exactly. It's ridiculous that this article hasn't been updated by now and continues to be labeled as a rumour.

@aaronsullivan
I agree. Iwata has said that they will be like brothers after all. Here's a quote.

"What we mean by integrating platforms is not integrating handheld devices and home consoles to make only one machine.

What we are aiming at is to integrate the architecture to form a common basis for software development so that we can make software assets more transferrable."

Re: Nintendo Publishes Part Two of the Miyamoto and Hayashi Star Fox Zero Interview

Rin-go

@marandahir
The thing is that the game was developed with the gyro and second screen in mind. With allowing, ugh, "standard controls" the game would have to be toned down to fit both control schemes. Not allowing, ugh, "standard controls" to me means that it wouldn't be possible anyways, with the way the game is now.

@NintendoFan64
You see hardly anyone give constructive criticism, though. It's usually insults and wanting him to get retired. Your comment about shoehorning a gimmick isn't really any better, by the way. That's the problem with this community. Those who spout rehash about Mario or Pokemon are then the ones who want a Star Fox or F-Zero just like those before.

I don't like Pikmin 2 all that much. Those caves irk me to the point where I didn't want to finish the game. But that doesn't mean I go around insulting the guy and wanting him gone from the company. I don't like it and that's it.

Re: Video: Nintendo Aims to Get Down With the Kids in Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Series

Rin-go

@DiscoGentleman
Yeah. Games also put additional limitations on you, like text has to fit into a box etc. If you're dubbing then there are even more limitations, because you have to synch the text with the lip movement.
What about jokes or wordplays? What about characters who speak in rhymes? You can't just translate those. Or are people going to tell me, that they would prefer it to just be translated, too, which means ruining the characterization?

If you want the game basically untouched, then there is no other option than playing the original.

Re: Video: Nintendo Aims to Get Down With the Kids in Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Series

Rin-go

It will be interesting to see what some people will do when Persona 5 gets localized. Or "censored".
I have watched Did You Know Gaming? on Kingdom Hearts and they were going over localization changes, too. Like removing depictions of violence. I guess PS2 for kiddies confirmed, then?

And it's naive to think that you want the same, only translated. Even if you only translate it, it won't be the same anyway.

Re: The Legend of Zelda Wii U Has Been Pushed Back to 2017, Will Release On NX As Well

Rin-go

I don't really like that, because to me it could set a dangerous precedent. Basically, if their hardware doesn't sell, flagship titles might be ported to the next system, too. What about all those who bought a Wii U mainly for Zelda U? If they feel they got their money worth, then okay, but if not?
I really hope that all those rumours about Wii U titles being ported to NX aren't true. You know the games you've put hundreds of hours into? Just rebuy them. Thanks for being a loyal customer and f you. The delay kind of gets into this direction. I understand that it will be more polished with the delay, but if it wasn't necessary, why not release the Wii U version earlier?
It would be something else though, if the NX would turn out to be a portable.

I hope that any possible significant online features are shared between both versions. Meaning that you can play with or share items with NX players even if you play the Wii U version.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Rin-go

@PlywoodStick
I don't know if this is supposed to be a sarcastic remark or not, I guess the smiley would indicate that it isn't, but it's actually the truth. I didn't even know all the terms people like to throw around. How many actually know what they mean? Throwing around CPU power or talking about old architecture without knowing that their favourite console uses even older one? It's almost funny. Almost. I didn't know about the success of the Wii, about WiiWare game size limitations, about the 600 Dollar PS3 you're supposed to get a second job for or the RRoD of the 360. I didn't even go online with any console until the Wii U. I didn't know that people don't like the PS controllers. I never had a problem with any controller. I just get used to them.

I hardly come to this site anymore. Usually only when reviews drop, just out of curiosity. But this comment section is just nasty. And they are the usual suspects.
Of course the author of the review is biased. Who isn't? Everyone has preferences. And of course he might be more lenient or whatnot because he understands the design philosophies etc. as a long time fan. Did you people throw such a fit when a reviewer basically stated that he would prefer to play the gritty western RPG as opposed to the cute platformer he was made to review?
But hypocrisy seems to be quite common in the gaming community. I have seen my share of really ridiculous things.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Rin-go

@Syrek24
Thanks for that rant. I really mean it.

I'm sick of this so called gaming community. That whole acting like criticizing makes you the better fan, that one is only telling those "fanboys" the "truth" etc. It's not about fun at all. That's why I try to distance myself more and more. Last gen I wasn't going on gaming news sites at all. I didn't know how much which system sells, any problems they have etc. And thinking about it, it was much more fun than being in the know.

Re: Feature: Breaking Down the My Nintendo Loyalty Economy

Rin-go

A comment by @Kokusho made me think that perhaps physical purchases are excluded, because they could be abused. You could buy a copy, register it, get your free games or discounts or other rewards and then sell your copy.
The reward you get seems to depend on how much you spend. But what if you get a physical copy discounted? How would the system know how much you've spend to adjust your reward? Wouldn't that lead to people buying cheap games, just to get more out of it? While buying digital let's you easily adjust the reward. Then someone who buys full price would get a better deal than someone who buys on a discount.

Re: Analyst Thinks Nintendo Is Already Winding Down Wii U Ahead Of Nintendo NX Launch

Rin-go

@TreonsRealm @Warbeard
I agree. I have seen plenty of comments, I think it was even in 2013, about people wanting to buy the console, but being afraid of it being discontinued, because of all the doom articles about sales. I have also seen plenty of comments that went like "I bought a Wii U and I actually like it", which indicate that the person thought that they won't like it. And why is that? Because of the constant negative spin on everything, especially before the PS4 and XB1 were actually released. I mean things like "32 GB storage in 2013. lololol" and then it turns out the large storage of the other two might fill up even faster, what with mandatory installs and large updates. Since the other two were released you hardly get to see any comments about storage anymore.

@outburst
lol xD

Re: Review: Super Mario 64 (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)

Rin-go

I will probably never get the appeal of this game. I understand that it was important for its time, but I don't feel like playing it again at all. Even when I played the Trowback Galaxy level in, well, Galaxy it felt like "This is why I don't like Super Mario 64".
Oh well.

Re: TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT, The Game Freak and Sega Collaboration, is Sadly Skipping Wii U

Rin-go

How the hell is the comment section full of "because the fans don't buy games" comments, especially since the companies involved have achieved good sales? Or the insinuations about why GF did it, that have more to do with some wishful thinking. GF is apparently 3rd party, so they can basically do what they want.
I guess some just have to jump on every opportunity to call out the "fan boys".

@rjejr
Now that you say it, it really does look Rambi-like.

Re: Bayonetta 2 Demo Now Live In The European Wii U eShop

Rin-go

This was my first time playing Bayonetta and it was fun. I usually don't play extremely violent games, but surprisingly I was able to ignore all the blood splatter. I guess there was just way too much going on. Or because I was playing with guns. They seem like a more 'friendly' weapon compared to swords and the like. Didn't know there is also another weapon available. Have to try that one, too. And also to get a better trophy. ^^;

Having played it now makes me really question the button masher claims, though.

@Peach64
Can't go without a stab, can you?

@sinalefa
One word. Time difference.

Re: Wii U System Update 5.2.0 Brings Folders, New UI Design and More

Rin-go

@CaviarMeths
Way to go overboard. I just find that sarcastic entitlement annoying. Or perhaps the constant "Look, how behind the times they are! trololol", when even that super does everything right PS4 doesn't have folders. Even the ancient Chinese likely had folders for their scrolls. How behind the times everyone is!
Can't people just be happy without the necessity for sarcasm?!

And this isn't directed against you or something. I just picked your comment, because it was the most "Look, how behind the times they are!" trollish. I don't think I will ever understand why people feel the need to post comments like these.

Re: Miyamoto States That Nintendo Is Sticking With "Revolutionary" Hardware For The Foreseeable Future

Rin-go

I have seen comments about how the "same" game for SNES and I think Genesis were distinctly different from one another. Like @RougeLeader has said, games are too expensive to make different versions for each system, so it's either do as we please or no support from third parties. How great would it be if the Wii U, PS4 and XOne were so distinctly diffferent from one another that playing a multiplat on each system would result in completely different experiences?!
I prefer to stay true to a vision instead of selling out. Basically what @kyuubikid213 wrote about.
