Imamura talked about their possible reasoning, even saying "I think", yet people just ran with it. That he's saying it would cost a fortune should tell us that he isn't really privy to business decisions. Nintendo releases plenty of budget titles, on top of seemingly not having very bloated budgets to begin with. Weren't there reports of Nintendo asking a studio to make an F-Zero for the Wii U, but that studio declined? And now that F-Zero 99 is out that puts the whole "not caring" further into question.
I remember when people made a whole movement demanding a new SF, then the initiator of that movement didn't even buy SFZ, because "it isn't what we wanted". A lot of vocal people online don't necessarily translate to a lot of sales.
@YoshiF2 That makes no sense. Both games can be played through in like 10 hours. Having to buy the games would be a bigger hurdle, but I'd say just play 3, then buy the others if you liked it.
As others have mentioned, recent years have shown that with Nintendo no franchise is truly shelved. They released the FDC remakes just last year after all.
@NintendoKnight This argument is completely flawed. You can add a new power-up, enemies and obstacles to 2D Mario and it changes how you play it. You don't really have that with F-Zero. And it seems at least NSMB2 was done by younger staff?
@Damo I'm only just seeing it, since I've been reading up on the MPT HD rumours, and "There were ports, so she was partly right" has to be one of the greatest excuses. The launch year was supposed to be full of them, Splatoon an enhanced port, Smash a deluxe version of Wii U and 3DS etc. If we can only tell if these people are right once an official announcement confirms it, then why are we even listening to them? And you can very much go on forums and see how people will look over credits and job listings to figure out what could release next. Between that and going through Nintendo's line-up of franchises and looking at which franchises had games released 3-5 years ago, on top of hints by devs themselves (like the new direction for Kirby), you can very much guess what games will come to the system. I'm convinced that if these people have sources, they aren't from Nintendo themselves, otherwise one would assume an almost flawless record, because I'm not believing for a second that a multinational company just changes plans on a whim. They would have to hear about games at the prototype stage and I don't believe any of them have sources at NCL. I saw a tweet by a NoA employee before E3 2021, which implied she worked on the presentation for at least 6 months, that's how much logistics go into things like that. But "plans change", how convenient.
@CharlieGirl I really want to know about the "games rushed out to sell DLC later". Because a full game getting DLC, like MK8, isn't that. Free updates aren't that either, because they're free.
@Gauchorino What is that comment #101 even supposed to mean? I remember when people said that the Wii U output, and I guess to a lesser extent the 3DS one, were "too safe" and that Nintendo "wasn't ambitious enough". Those are some major rose-tinted glasses there. Is the NSMB series about risk-taking? lol Games are games. The only thing they're supposed to be is good, or fun, both of which are subjective. "Risk-taking", "ambitious" - these words feel more like meaningless buzzwords at this point.
I've put Inked and Tux & Fanny on my wishlist, because they looked interesting, so nice to see them on here. I like that this actually feels like an hidden gems list.
@westman98 Don't they know there're other months? ^^; I guess they wanted them all released this fiscal year? Even just on Switch, how many people will finish TS before ChR releases? Though I guess ChR can be easily played in small bursts.
I usually like these presentations. If I can add 1 or 2 games to my wishlist I'm usually satisfied. Curious how many games will get shadow dropped this time, because Indie presentations are known to do that.
Ridiculous how "insiders" are having a cat fight over getting an Indie Direct this week right. Apparently it has been a thing in December since 2018, so I thought that it's probably this week even without insider knowledge, because next week are the holidays and Nintendo likely wouldn't do one shortly before them. But "insiders" out there are fighting over who's credible or who's not, when that was an easy guess. It's not that they got the date right. On a side note, could they just stop "leaking", especially games? Leak bad working conditions, but let people have surprises. It's ridiculous to watch "insiders" latch onto that bounty hunter fraud, when they themselves use similar tricks.
Why wouldn't ITT be possible on Switch? The Wii got like its own CoD games. Everything could run on the Switch, just in some cases it might have to be its own version and that might not be viable for everyone. There're way too many "Can't run on Switch" takes to then release the game later anyway. Hello Bandai. On a side note, hardware doesn't make games run, people do.
And if you're tired of hearing about "wokeness", imagine how tired people are who get everything downplayed as "wokeness".
I didn't watch TGAs, but it seems that at least some people are seeing what a fraud one "leaker" named after the strongest bounty hunter in the universe is.
@alexybubble When was art ever not about that? That weird "white-washing" of art, no matter if books, movies, games or whatnot, as something devoid of a message and with the sole purpose to entertain, is bizarre.
@Npnut
Are you okay? Also is your job all jobs?
What people like you seem to not understand is that you think that all these "Marxists" think women are perfect and have no flaws or something. People are people and everyone no matter their gender or sexuality etc. can be rude, prejudiced etc. Plenty of people have the same rude untouchable higher-ups in all kinds of configurations. I have also seen and heard of plenty of men who slack off but know to whom make a pretty face to.
Some users are also unwillingly advocating for diverse working environments when they say that all-women workplaces aren't great either. lol
@Arkay
If you're response to someone's bad experience with men is "But women" you're downplaying.
And people bat an eye when women go through the same? How many people in history just moved on? It's also not that you didn't get hired in your field because you are a man.
Also no one was saying anything about hiring unqualified people. But I guess people are unqualified if they don't fit into the straight white men category.
A job interview doesn't even tell you how qualified someone is for a job, so there're likely plenty of times when the less qualified person might've been hired. Ever heard of nepotism?
And I don't know how naive you have to be to think you really dictate how much you achieve.
You can always count on the comment section becoming a dumpster fire with these types of topics.
Men or unqualified. White or unqualified. Hetero or unqualified. Apparently these are the types of employees you can hire.
If we say the most qualified person should get the job are we also including all the women, who didn't get a job because they could get pregnant? All the ones who weren't able to get far in the corporate structure, because they got pregnant? All the people of colour who were never even invited for an interview because of their skin? I've read about people pretending to have an ability during the job interview and getting hired despite lacking that ability. Like a comment above said, it's about how you sell yourself. Even knowing the right people can help you get a job. So miss me with "most qualified".
In 2018 MP4 and MPT HD were supposed to be shown at the VGA. Nintendo announced they're restarting development on MP4 in January 2019. MPT HD was supposedly finished and Nintendo was waiting for the right time to release it. Now MP1 is getting a remake after all these years of teasing MPT HD. I'm not saying whether it's true or not, just interesting how it goes. I'd assume those "insiders" just looked at the Western-centric VGAs and guessed that Nintendo would show Metroid.
@Damo Wasn't she also one of the people pedalling rumours about the Switch's first year being basically nothing but Wii U ports? Wasn't Splatoon going to be not 2 but an enhanced port? But I guess "plans change" half a year before release.
@Dragonite89 The SwSh credits apparently include 1000 people. Also most of the money comes from merchandise not the games and is likely going back into merchandise.
From what I understand only LG Pokemon work in SwSh. When people added others it bugged out. The assumption is that their future-proofed models didn't work. They should've cut the Dex a long time ago. None of the games that "have effort put into them", like Digimon, DQ, SMT, YW, MHS, seem to have anywhere near the amount of monsters.
People, who're basically saying that they deserved it and victim blame are disgusting. Have you seen Pokemon "fans" online? They apparently feel so slighted that they spew vitriol at anyone. Not to mention all of the "Game looks better than Pokemon" takes, even with games that have nothing in common with Pokemon, like Odyssey or RFA of all things. Also when it comes to difficulty, Pokemon games leave you more options to keep the challenge difficult than many other RPGs. You can catch an underlevelled Pokemon with a type disadvantage to challenge a Gym. With most RPGs you don't have the option to make a completely different party once they're overlevelled. But I guess people want hand holding when it comes to difficulty. shrugs
@BlackenedHalo That's not really what Metroid is about though? How would you even signal those optional bosses? Where would you put them, so someone doing a normal run won't come across them?

I also wouldn't necessarily call Grasshopper a big dev.
I remember reading about a Japanese dev of erotic games for mobile I think, where a lot more people pirated the game than paid for it and they had to close, so to say that piracy isn't theft is ridiculous. I can understand being low income or from a country where you don't get much support for systems and games, but I doubt those people are in your face about how it's supposedly "morally right to pirate Nintendo games" or finding other excuses to justify pirating.
And to those people talking about fanboys and bootlickers, those same "fanboys" and "bootlickers" are the reason why you even get any games you can pirate.
@clianvXAi I know that was an old comment, but missing the point of the comment you replied to so much is kind of hilarious. Or you're just a troll, who has to get some supposed gotchas in.

@Richnj These are reviews by connoisseurs. Critical reviews, like from people who studied game design, are a separate thing. These professional reviews have an edge on user reviews in the sense that you know they at least played a decent amount and have more to say than "Nintendo sucks. #FreeMelee -10/10".
@jancotianno You can't be that lacking in self-awareness.
I don't have to justify why the reviewer likes the graphics to you. Ocarina of Time is one of the best reviewed games despite the low frame-rate. Also art style is more important than visual fidelity.
It's rich that you're so concerned about Famitsu getting hate for their review, when that's all you've been doing since NL posted theirs.
@RiasGremory It's not. You could be called lazy too, since you're on here writing comment after comment, while you probably have something more important to do. Makes as much sense. Perhaps read up what actual devs say about being labelled that term.
@Zyph Nintendo people, like Tanabe and Sakamoto, are there too.
Didn't former Retro employees make their own dev studio that didn't light the world on fire? I'm not saying they're not talented or aren't good devs, but making games on that scale usually is a team effort, so a few people changing doesn't have to have a negative impact on quality.
@Duncanballs
Right? lol
I also like "Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but here's why yours is wrong". Though that might not happen as much in the comments.
I just noticed that I basically repeated your point. Oops. haha
@nessisonett
That's interesting. I should check that review out.
It actually makes me curious if people over the years just took on other people's or at least the most common opinion as their own. Like perhaps people were iffy on some things, but enjoyed it overall, then all those "Samus weak" takes happened and people made it out to be a bigger deal than it was? On a side note, experiencing PTSD and overcoming it would mean strength not weakness. The amount of people who make it seem that you have to essentially be a stone to be considered strong is bizarre.
I checked it out a little and it really felt like a relic of times passed. lol Even the user score is a 7 on there.
You can look at videos to see if a game looks appealing to you. Judging whether a review is biased or not, they all are by the way, or debating the score with a person who actually played all through it is unnecessary and just plain arrogant.
You really just seem to want to hear yourself talk. Or read yourself write in this case.
Could we stop calling devs lazy, please? It's very toxic and, well, lazy.
I can understand that porting all the games would be a massive amount of work and would probably mean a staggered release and not all games at once, but it's disappointing. I have only played KH1 and KH2, so it'd be a great way to play the whole "convoluted mess" the franchise seems to be. lol I don't mind KH3 being cloud-only, but all the other games? Kind of iffy on that. I have to see the price and hope they offer a demo, so I can see how it works. I might just play KH3 to have at least played all the numbered entries.

Re: Video: Why Didn't Square Enix Port The Kingdom Hearts Collection To Switch?
@Caryslan
And those discs and hard drives mean little if you have to install the games and download large updates or patches.
They could make you download part of the game or offer them digitally. File size shouldn't matter if you can easily expand storage with SD cards.

@RiasGremory
It's not. You could be called lazy too, since you're on here writing comment after comment, while you probably have something more important to do. Makes as much sense.
Perhaps read up what actual devs say about being labelled that term.
Re: Round Up: The Metroid Dread Reviews Are In
@Zyph
Nintendo people, like Tanabe and Sakamoto, are there too.
Didn't former Retro employees make their own dev studio that didn't light the world on fire? I'm not saying they're not talented or aren't good devs, but making games on that scale usually is a team effort, so a few people changing doesn't have to have a negative impact on quality.
Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
@Duncanballs
Right? lol
I also like "Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but here's why yours is wrong". Though that might not happen as much in the comments.
I just noticed that I basically repeated your point. Oops. haha
Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
@nessisonett
Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
@jancotianno
And? You're just repeating yourself.
You can look at videos to see if a game looks appealing to you. Judging whether a review is biased or not, they all are by the way, or debating the score with a person who actually played all through it is unnecessary and just plain arrogant.
You really just seem to want to hear yourself talk. Or read yourself write in this case.
Re: Video: Why Didn't Square Enix Port The Kingdom Hearts Collection To Switch?
Could we stop calling devs lazy, please? It's very toxic and, well, lazy.
I can understand that porting all the games would be a massive amount of work and would probably mean a staggered release and not all games at once, but it's disappointing. I have only played KH1 and KH2, so it'd be a great way to play the whole "convoluted mess" the franchise seems to be. lol I don't mind KH3 being cloud-only, but all the other games? Kind of iffy on that. I have to see the price and hope they offer a demo, so I can see how it works. I might just play KH3 to have at least played all the numbered entries.
Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
@jancotianno
And? That doesn't change the fact that you haven't played it, contrary to the reviewer.
"I watched videos, so I'm an expert." lol
