@cleveland124 And what has that to do with your comments exactly? You were talking about in depth experiences. The teen days are usually the one when one tries to be "more mature" and wants to grow up soon, so there are likely quite a few teens who think they outgrew "Nintendo kiddie stuff" and that go after the false maturity. That and seeking depth are completely different things.
@Ryu_Niiyama Crack all the jokes you want. ^^ I mean my comment wasn't sarkastic or anything and meant for the comment about what kids play, not the one afterwards. lol
@WiltonRoots Yeah, just because we haven't seen anything yet doesn't mean that things aren't in the works right now. Even if they would have revealed it a year ago we wouldn't see advertisements until like a few weeks or months before launch. That why I feel that there is no need to be that fixated about the reveal as long as they make enough time for advertising. It seems Nintendo is trying a different approach this time.
@cleveland124 More in depth experiences? What the hell? Just because some people are enticed by a false image of maturity, doesn't mean that there isn't anything to offer gamers on Nintendo consoles. @Captain_Gonru Actually when you think about it, the announced AC NL Direct kind of hinted at a possible delay. Because the update and the mobile version may be linked in some way.
And calling the decision incompetent is a stretch.
@whodatninja Are people like you aware of what they're actually saying? Why should they reward him for what he did? He should have gone to Nintendo with a pitch. Would they have turned him down? Yes, quite likely. And that's when it should have ended. He could have made the game in private and then use what he learnt for his own game. If Nintendo would hire him or whatnot people would think that's the way to go. But what about those people, who've built their own portfolio and don't get any of such "deals"? Would you give money to someone, who stole money from you?
"Doesn't get the internet", huh? How about you show us the game, book or something you made. I guess you won't mind if we use your intellectual property to our liking, because you "get the internet", right?
@GrailUK Great comment. Short and to the point. There are other great comments, too. Like what @3MonthBeef wrote.
I will say it again and again, most people don't call an intellectual property their own, so they don't or can't understand what it means to see it used without consent. These discussions are therefore quite futile.
And as far as I know, the Sonic stuff was first pitched to Sega and they were okay with it. This remake wasn't pitched to Nintendo and saying they should pick it up now is just crazy.
I think, or hope, that Pikmin 4 does exist, too. This one doesn't mean that Pikmin 4 doesn't exist. They can both function alongside themselves. I'm actually glad that this one is different. It's kind of like a spin-off. Let's leave the main titles on consoles.
@GoldenGamer88 Yes, Pikmin amiibo! I'd buy them all. ^^
While I can understand Mario Maker, putting Yoshi on the 3DS is really lame. =/ And not even its own version, but the exact same with additions.
The Yarn Poochy amiibo is cute, though. Hope there will be an update for the Wii U version or something.
Despite that it seems that the console versions of both are the superior ones. Or maybe not superior, but they differ in focus. Mario Maker 3DS is more like "Go outside and share".
@locky-mavo Yes, "deserve" is a really strong word. And usually you'd have to do something to "deserve" something. Wanting a remake is okay, but saying you'd prefer a fan remake over an official release or that you'd "deserve" it over an official release is just, I don't know how to say it. Really low, perhaps? For a "fan" of the franchise at least.
@3MonthBeef No, they didn't? It got released for free on PC. That doesn't mean everyone of those people will go out and buy a Nintendo console to play an official remake. Specially since an official release would have to come with all the bells and whistles.
@locky-mavo I think they don't actually "want" it, though. If Nintendo were like "Here's a fan-made remake! Happy 30th Anniversary!", "fans" would be just as angry. But now, that it's fan remake vs Federation Force, they'd prefer the remake.
I just can't understand how "fans" prefer a fan remake over a spin-off that could be a base for future entries.
And I agree that the Anniversary stuff goes way overboard. Just look at Super Mario. The 30th Anniversary wasn't anything all that special. Super Mario Maker and that was it. The Year of Luigi had much more going on for it.
@aaronsullivan The thing is, though, all this hybrid stuff, doesn't strike me as "new". How should I say it? Playing the same games at home and on the go just doesn't really add anything "new" to the way we play games. It all boils down to being a Wii U, with the only difference being that the GamePad is a handheld this time. No Blue Ocean. And what about local multiplayer? That is something I really want to know. Would you be able to buy the handheld part only to dock to the station, so that you'd have two controllers? Wouldn't that mean that the handheld parts could be considered as being superexpensive controllers? I feel that's all too complicated and it would be a huge step backwards.
@WiltonRoots Yeah, some words seem to trigger an instant "No. Never." reaction. Like gimmick or gyro. I'd love there to be a gimmick, but maybe that's just me. ^^;
@JaxonH I personally think a hybrid is nothing really exciting. Something that people wrote about hundred of times in comment sections, sorry, but that doesn't strike me as a "new concept" with the need to be so secretive. Most people can deduct as much just by looking at patents. I also like having separate experiences on the home console and the handheld. It'd be nice if it would share some games, like Mario Kart 9 for both, but I'd like them to have their own distinct library.
The thing that gets me thinking is, can you even call yourself a Nintendo fan if you don't like gimmicks? What is called a "standard controller" today was also a "gimmick" in the past. It just feels like with the Wiimote and the GamePad people fear it will become a standard. Everything just to keep the status quo going. Another problem is that words are loosing their meanings. Gimmick is "a feature I don't want". You can have the same person saying they don't want any gimmicks, but that playing DVDs or Blu-rays is a must. lol At least motion or a second screen add something to gaming, playing DVDs or Blu-rays doesn't. A control set-up that you have to learn, like with The Wonderful 101 and Star Fox Zero, gets called "broken". Etc.
@Rukiafan7 First, everyone says that as if it's true, but we don't know if without Operation Rainfall the games wouldn't have come over. Second, there's hardly anything as of late that doesn't get released outside of Japan. They even publish games like Bravely Default, taking the risks for the companies who actually develop the games! Making stuff up to make a point is like making no point at all.
@gcunit I hate hypocrisy and I'm not going to be silent about that. I made a comment that was about some members in general, but one member felt touched and manipulated it all the same. Great that a member can run to the mods being like "Momma, they're beating me, but Momma I'm a good boy" while hiding boxing gloves behind his back. Moderate people that call out insinuations and hypocrisy are made to shut up, but constant trolls that attack the Nintendo Life staff directly or ridicule members by calling them fanboys or sheep only get a shrug and are even protected by the mods. Shows a lot about this place.
You can ban me all you want. Just shows that people like me aren't welcome on here. But don't worry I won't post anymore on this topic.
Be respectful of VanillaLake no matter how disrespectful he is to others. Doesn't matter that he posts assumptions, insinuations and accuses you of manipulating his comments, though all you do is direct quoting him, and even though at the same time he's manipulating your comments. Let him play the victim card, give him a pat on the back and say "Poor poor boy, you have it so hard". Check. I will remember that for the future.
@VanillaLake
"A score above score average. In my opinion, Luigi's Mansion 2 is one of the best 3DS games BUT Federation Force is far from being as good. Same developer doesn't mean same results. The game concept itself limits the whole development and the ending product. More 7s than 8s everywhere else. If Luigi's Mansion 2 is 9/10 Federation Force should be 7/10 or less."
You haven't played it yet, though?
"Then again, Damien gave to the worst 2D Mario game (New Super Mario Bros. 2) 9/10 ouchhhh and Star Fox Zero 8/10. That's why Nintendo Life's reviews can't be taken seriously."
"I know, this one was written by somebody else, that's why my second comment is a separate reflection about two crazy reviews by Damien (NSMB2 and Star Fox Zero) and Nintendo Life reviews in general which I can't take seriously."
"Your job is to review a game on it's merits, not defend a developer. I love Next Level Games and they've done fantastic work, but this review reads like an attempt to prop them up even when their work is bland. You even praised the music, which is nothing but trite garbage and I don't need to have played the full game to recognise that aspect." by Aurelis and you agreed with her.
"I agree with your comment, I think the same about this review."
"The consequence is that I don't agree with Gonçalo's review, no matter how nice the developers are. Love Luigi's Mansion 2 plus love Metroid Prime doesn't equal to love Metroid Prime Federation Force. Or it shouldn't."
You haven't play it yet, though?
"Yes, just check here to see the difference between Nintendo sites and others when reviewing the game"
Assumptions and insinuations, but you're respectful of other opinions? Don't make me laugh.
By the way, I don't care if you agree or don't agree with the review, but when you start throwing around assumptions, based on nothing but your own bias, as well as insinuations, then you have disqualified yourself.
@VanillaLake Stop being all high and mighty, that doesn't work with me. With comments like "can't take Nintendo Life reviews seriously" or calling reviews, and by that to an extent the reviewer, crazy you have shown enough of yourself, not for the first time may I add, so stop behaving as if you're some representation of virtues. @BiasedSonyFan exposed you excellently. Respect other people if you want people to respect you, huh? Right back at you.
@VanillaLake I was obviously talking about insinuations and slandering. Things like "Nintendo-focused sites give it a good score and multi-console sites bad, strange" are just disgusting. And not even true.
And stop playing the victim card. "Nintendo Life reviews can't be taken seriously, but I'm respectful of other opinions. I never started anything, but look how I'm being flamed. Report, report!", that's how you sound.
@Damo Thank you. I also had my problems with why many, if not most or all, reviews of Wii U games had to have phrases like "failing Wii U" in them, but those insinuations are really unnessasary and disgusting. Things like "I knew you would give it a 10/10". I think there were even insinuations about being paid to review favourably in past comment sections. Why even come to the site and read the review if you think they're written by Nintendo-corporation-shill-biased-fanboys. It's easy to slander someone, but where's the proof?
And the insinuations are usually done by people who ridicule Nintendo and the people who dare to like the current Nintendo. This is not about being unbiased. It's about not catering to the negative bias of these people.
I mean, who would have thought that a site with Nintendo in its title could have a bias towards Nintendo, huh?
@Damo @AlexOlney I wouldn't even bother with those disgusting insinuations in your place. Everyone has a bias in some way. But I guess it just is that way that if you say something is good, you're biased. But if you say something is bad, you're speaking "the truth". No matter that both opinions are biased all the same.
And, um, you people do know that Federation Force is a spin-off? Have you ever looked at Mario Kart and thought "Oh, but this isn't a main series game and has different mechanics therefore it should be called something else"?
@VanillaLake
The thing with you people is, though, that you don't just say "I don't like this and that", but are downright condescending. "They should put money into marketing and not into lawyers", that's the kind of "discussion" we have around here. Some people can't just say their opinion in a polite way, no. People say things like stupid, etc. about the people of the company they say they love so much.
@HappyMaskedGuy
Yes, they are a business, that's why they want to sell you their product. Novel concept, huh? And that's why they don't have to apologise. Especially not after such a condescending comment.
@-DEMISE- 342 This so much. It's true and I don't really get it. If you hate them so much, why do you even bother? I prefer the Wii over the PS3 and feel that since the PS3 Sony kind of abandoned the consumer I am, and going by comments online other people feel the same. That's why I own a Wii U and not a PS4. Not even the new Final Fantasy seems to sell me on one, which is quite sad, because to me that would be a system seller. It just goes to show that the gaming industry has changed, not necessarily for the good. Despite that you don't see me on PushSquare or anywhere else raining on the parade of everyone who dares to enjoy their recent output, saying that I'm a true fan and everyone else a problem, that I'm saying the truth people can't handle etc. People say that some on here are over-sensitive, Nintendo Defense Force and the like. But if I'd go and write about what I don't like about the more recent PlayStation brand on PushSquare and other sites, would I get a standing ovation or what? No, I wouldn't.
Some say that they want Nintendo to be better or whatnot. As if bashing them online makes anything better. It's like, say, you want to loose weight and people around you say things like "fat pig" to motivate you. Do you feel motivated? Likely not. That's what those bashboys seem like to me.
Another thing I don't get is how some bash Nintendo, but then happily buy or own other consoles, as if the other companies were any better. They say that Sony "listens to the fans". Yes, just look at all the Vita support.
I say, like what you like, dislike what you dislike, but there is no reason to make life harder for anyone. It even goes as far as being likened to cancer for enjoying the Wii U, which is just sick.
One thing I absolutely can't stand, though, is all the "this isn't what the fans want", "we didn't ask for it". What fans? Who's we? No, you. It's about you. "Fans" aren't a single-minded entity. That's also one reason I think people usually ask for a game, like Star Fox, but then go to say "This isn't what we wanted". Because if you only say general things like "We want Metroid" you will have thousands of people behind it. But if you would go into details you would see that the "true Metroid game fans want" doesn't exist, because everyone has their own opinion, some might be close, but some would be lightyears apart.
The problem with this topic is, that most people who comment on copyright, fan projects ect. likely never made anything themselves that was used by someone else without their permission. That is all really. People get upset over other people posting fanart without crediting the artist, but using assets etc. is fine, because it's a company or what? Bad corporations, poor consumers?

Actually when you think about it, the announced AC NL Direct kind of hinted at a possible delay. Because the update and the mobile version may be linked in some way.
And calling the decision incompetent is a stretch.
Re: Nintendo of America Issues Takedown Request on AM2R, Ending the Project
@whodatninja
Are people like you aware of what they're actually saying?
Re: Nintendo of America Issues Takedown Request on AM2R, Ending the Project
@GrailUK
Great comment.
Re: Mario Sports Superstars Is A Collection Of Five Games In One
@sillygostly
I agree. Ever since Wii Sports and Wii Fit I just don't find much appeal with sit-down-and-push-buttons sports games. =/
Re: A New Pikmin Game is Coming to 3DS
I think, or hope, that Pikmin 4 does exist, too. This one doesn't mean that Pikmin 4 doesn't exist. They can both function alongside themselves.
I'm actually glad that this one is different. It's kind of like a spin-off. Let's leave the main titles on consoles.
@GoldenGamer88
Yes, Pikmin amiibo! I'd buy them all. ^^
Re: Super Mario Maker Is Coming To 3DS
While I can understand Mario Maker, putting Yoshi on the 3DS is really lame. =/ And not even its own version, but the exact same with additions.
The Yarn Poochy amiibo is cute, though. Hope there will be an update for the Wii U version or something.
Despite that it seems that the console versions of both are the superior ones. Or maybe not superior, but they differ in focus. Mario Maker 3DS is more like "Go outside and share".
Re: Feature: A Close Look at AM2R - The Metroid Game That Fans Deserve
@locky-mavo
Yes, "deserve" is a really strong word. And usually you'd have to do something to "deserve" something.
Wanting a remake is okay, but saying you'd prefer a fan remake over an official release or that you'd "deserve" it over an official release is just, I don't know how to say it. Really low, perhaps? For a "fan" of the franchise at least.
@3MonthBeef
No, they didn't? It got released for free on PC. That doesn't mean everyone of those people will go out and buy a Nintendo console to play an official remake. Specially since an official release would have to come with all the bells and whistles.
Re: Video: Blue Toads Get Stealthy in Latest Paper Mario: Color Splash 'Rescue V' Show
@NintyFan
Better not to question these things. ^_-
@Nin10doh
I didn't think that. o_o;
I'm leaving now.
Almost left.

Re: Feature: A Close Look at AM2R - The Metroid Game That Fans Deserve
@locky-mavo
I think they don't actually "want" it, though.
Re: Rumour: Detachable NX Controllers Will Offer Wii-Like Motion Control And Advanced Force Feedback
@aaronsullivan
The thing is, though, all this hybrid stuff, doesn't strike me as "new".
@WiltonRoots
Yeah, some words seem to trigger an instant "No. Never." reaction. Like gimmick or gyro.
I'd love there to be a gimmick, but maybe that's just me. ^^;
Re: Rumour: Detachable NX Controllers Will Offer Wii-Like Motion Control And Advanced Force Feedback
@JaxonH
I personally think a hybrid is nothing really exciting.
Etc.
Re: Nintendo Acquires Japanese Company JESNET To Gain Control Of Product Distribution
@Rukiafan7
First, everyone says that as if it's true, but we don't know if without Operation Rainfall the games wouldn't have come over.
Second, there's hardly anything as of late that doesn't get released outside of Japan. They even publish games like Bravely Default, taking the risks for the companies who actually develop the games!
Making stuff up to make a point is like making no point at all.
Re: Nintendo Acquires Japanese Company JESNET To Gain Control Of Product Distribution
@Rukiafan7
Like what? Tokyo Mirage Sessions? And aren't they publishing Yo-kai Watch in the West?
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
@gcunit
I hate hypocrisy and I'm not going to be silent about that.
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
@VanillaLake
I won't fall into your trap.
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
@VanillaLake
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
@VanillaLake
Stop being all high and mighty, that doesn't work with me.
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
@BiasedSonyFan
I must say, great job exposing.
@VanillaLake
I was obviously talking about insinuations and slandering.
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
@Damo
Thank you.
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
@Damo @AlexOlney
I wouldn't even bother with those disgusting insinuations in your place.
Re: AM2R Developer Encourages Players to Support Metroid II On the eShop and to Avoid 'Hate' Against Nintendo
@VanillaLake
@HappyMaskedGuy
Yes, they are a business, that's why they want to sell you their product. Novel concept, huh? And that's why they don't have to apologise. Especially not after such a condescending comment.
Re: AM2R Developer Encourages Players to Support Metroid II On the eShop and to Avoid 'Hate' Against Nintendo
@HappyMaskedGuy
And when are "fans" going to apologise for every instance of arrogance and being wrong?
So much for "intelligent", huh? Wow, just wow.
Re: AM2R Developer Encourages Players to Support Metroid II On the eShop and to Avoid 'Hate' Against Nintendo
@-DEMISE- 342
This so much.
Re: AM2R Developer Encourages Players to Support Metroid II On the eShop and to Avoid 'Hate' Against Nintendo
