Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

@James1010uk
Should 100+ hour games cost 100 then?
I can understand wanting the most bang for one's bucks, but to view games as hours per Dollar is bizarre. Someone might've bought HK, played for an hour to not touch it again, while the same person might keep replaying MD for optimised times. What money was better spent then?

Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

@anynamereally
Everyone is biased. Your own bias shows throughout your comments too, from giving an "objective" score, something not possible, to ACNH to assuming that a good score means the reviewer didn't spend enough time with a game.

I don't know why you conspiracy theorists can't find a reviewer whose bias matches your own, so you don't have to accuse others of being biased and dishonest while showing those exact same traits yourself.
Good thing that people working for this site started to be snarky towards such insinuations, because how often can you be accused of being a sell-out or whatnot?

Re: Metroid Dread Has Been Leaked Online Ahead Of This Week's Launch

@CovidBarbie
That's not what's happening though. Dude says that everyone who'll give a good review isn't genuine and makes it seem like only their opinion is right. You can't just spit on people and be surprised when you get reprimanded. Take your tin-foil hats off and understand that your opinions aren't more valid than anyone else's, even if your overblown egos make you think that.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Yesterday's Nintendo Direct?

Rin-go

Again, Directs are news, ads just in a condensed format. You won't get new announcement after new announcement in a normal Direct. The closest to being full of new announcements are usually E3 Directs. But I can imagine some people looking at "leaks" and complaining that "There was nothing new" or "We knew about that".

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Yesterday's Nintendo Direct?

Rin-go

The comments about how it was only things we knew about are capping. Do you count stuff that was "rumoured", more like "educated guessed", in that? Because if you do, no Direct will be satisfying, since we can assume games like Mario will be shown in some Direct. September Directs also usually serve as a means to add information on games announced prior, especially those announced at E3. I hope people weren't whining for Bayo3 to be shown to then say "We knew about it", because that seems kind of hypocritical to me.

I liked the Direct. It actually had way too many things I'd be interested in. lol

Re: Talking Point: Remember When People Thought Switch Would Fail?

Rin-go

This article is eye roll-worthy. If BotW was downplayed at launch because it wasn't exclusive, as it was cross-gen, that means the PS5 and XBSX have basically nothing to play. Also if you're a physical-only gamer the storage can last you for years if not the whole gen. I saw people saying they delete and re-download games on their PS5 not even one year in, as the Switch is the only console with actual physical games. It's also the only console which you can co-op out of the gate. Single Joy-Con might not be comfortable for everyone but it is an option. Were there articles on how you have to buy an additional controller, expand storage etc. for the PS5 and XBSX on top of costing 500?

In the early trailers and ads Nintendo positioned the Switch as a home console you can take on the go, seeing how people in those usually play docked then go outside with the console.

My concern was actually that a hybrid wouldn't allow for new ways to play, but Nintendo proved that that wasn't the case in the Switch Presentation in January 2017.

The first reveal of the Switch seemed to mostly have been received positively by The Internet, after the Presentation there were a lot of comments like "They advertise motion like it's 2006" etc. though.

Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour

Rin-go

@BloodNinja And who said to judge by it? That comment makes no sense to my comment and how you behave in general.

@Spiders Nowhere have I called anyone a racist. And how that can be read into my comment is downright bizarre.

@laughfactory And that shows itself how exactly? Because to me it seems like the problem lies in you only getting a slice of the cake as opposed to getting half the cake.
Are you in a majority white country governed predominantly by white people? Because then you can't experience racism. Prejudice? Yes. But racism? Definitely not.

Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour

Rin-go

The usual suspects make their usual "I don't see colour" type arguments. While that notion seems noble on the surface, it actually is the opposite. With different colours, genders, sexual orientations etc. come different experiences and to say you don't see them, or even that you don't want to see them, dismisses people's lived experiences and puts them almost in a fantasy category. Great that you don't want those experiences to ruin your escapism, now imagine living them. The whole year round.
We won't be able to not see colour as long as political parties and politicians win elections based on racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia etc. and make laws that affect minority groups negatively.

That people actually use the "racism against white men" argument is ridiculous. But I guess that's what happens when you've been fed propaganda about minorities taking your privileges.

On a side note, they're called women, not females. Women is the word you were searching for. Please and you're welcome.

Re: Video: Pokémon Fan "Fixes" Diamond And Pearl Remakes With This Slick Concept Trailer

Rin-go

The hilarious thing is people praising the trailer while saying "GF would never do something like this", when they actually did. lol The trailer takes assets GF made. The town no one recognizes? That's literally Wyndon from SwSh.

Also, why are people comparing Pokemon to games that have a lot less models etc. than Pokemon? Even DQ doesn't compare, because you do nothing with the monsters other than riding some in DQXIS, they don't learn moves etc.
And if you're talking about changing the gameplay then you should keep in mind that Pokemon has a competitive scene that could and likely would get alienated.

Re: Random: Purple And Yellow Chairs In Smash Bros. Direct Fuel Speculation Waluigi Will Be Playable Fighter

Rin-go

I was happy that Daisy got a spot, because I wanted all princesses in Smash. Daisy is the princess of her own land, but she's "just" the dash fighter of Peach, despite the fact that she could have her own unique moveset based on Mario Land and sports spin-offs. I think Captain Toad and Pauline would deserve a spot before Waluigi, because he hasn't much going for himself.

And if Sakurai is really getting death threats over Waluigi not being in Smash, then I agree that he doesn't deserve a spot.

@RedMageLanakyn
I wasn't "triggered", I just wasn't surprised one bit about the behaviour of people in the comment section. That's also why I hardly come to this site anymore. You can all have fun in your toxicity without me.

Re: Video: Here's What Senran Kagura Looks Like On Nintendo Switch

Rin-go

With the argument Sex VS Violence.
Most videogames are based on fighting something, even SK games are. It might not be bloody or gory, but it's violence nonetheless. If you're threatened you fight back - that's a simple mechanisms to understand.
Now, in what world is touching underaged girls with unnaturally large boobs a necessity?

I have to say while the hand-touching was kind of cute, the thigh slapping felt really cheap. And that's where the "problem" lies when it comes to the depiction of anything sexual: the difference between cheap and sensual/actually sexy.

Re: Review: ARMS (Switch)

Rin-go

I come to this site after a long time to look for the ARMS review and what do I find? People who act all high and mighty and insult others - I'd gladly be a child mentally if being an adult means being such a butt - and the typical "It's NL, so OF COURSE they'll score it higher than anyone else" like comments, though let me tell you: All these other reviewers are biased as well!
I guess some things - or people - will never change.

Re: Rumour: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Won't Be Ready by March

Rin-go

@DragonEleven
Many localisations start while the game is in development. That's how we get simultaneous releases. They could have very well had most if not all of the text ready, but not the game itself.
And localising doesn't only mean translating.

@yomanation
And how many mid-tier games do these companies release?

On a side note, since when should games be judged on how ambitious they are? Does that mean an ambitious and not fun game is better than an unambitious and fun game?

"Hereby we humbly request for Nintendo to kindly reach down to us to give us the showing of the new card game we are so eagerly awaiting."

"Hereby we humbly request the reconsideration of the release of the new card game so kindly bestowed upon us by Nintendo."

Something like this? ^^

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Now Battles for Our Time, Not Just Loyalty

Rin-go

@Iggy-Koopa
I'd consider playing two year old games normal in a way. But I guess we live in a time when you play through a game and then trade it in or don't play it again at all, because you're on the next new thing.
A fun game is a fun game. There are quite a few people out there who mostly do retro gaming. Now those people play 20 and more year old games.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Now Battles for Our Time, Not Just Loyalty

Rin-go

@dkxcalibur
Why should the NX get ports of old games? That worked really well for the Wii U. Third parties should put the newest releases on the NX and not year-old ports of games that lack features and cost like half as much on other platforms. I'd understand old ports with all features at a reasonable price, though.
I understand that you didn't play them, but then that's tough luck.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Now Battles for Our Time, Not Just Loyalty

Rin-go

The less "hardcore gamer" and the more Blue Ocean the better I say. Reading some of the comments the "Oh, they're so out of touch with what I want" "fans" aren't really worth going after. Like at all.

@Clownshoes
If you're done with them, why not start right now? No Zelda for you. But of course people like you want the Zelda goodness.

Re: Video: Nintendo Releases Showcase Video for Paper Mario: Color Splash

@SLIGEACH_EIRE
You don't have to act all high and mighty when you started it with saying the American spelling is butchered. Because languages change, in 100 years the British English spelling might be color, or even something completely else, like kolour or kolor or col'r.

And @JaxonH, trying to have a discussion with him is a lost cause.

Re: Nintendo Titles and Exclusives Clean Up At The Japan Game Awards

Rin-go

@Oat
Do Western developers try to appeal to Japanese gamers? Why does it only have to be in one direction? What about people who prefer Japanese gaming?

I used to think "I have a PS3, but everything I want to play is anime", but then I read an important comment on here. I sadly don't remember who wrote it and I think it might have been someone, who doesn't/didn't post all that much anyway. To paraphrase, the person said that Japanese developers are more budget concerned and that's why they use anime-like graphics.
There were lots of attempts to "westernize" games to a point were the games themselves don't really feel like what they used to be. Like those 3D Castlevania games. Fire Emblem shows how to try to appeal to a wider audience.

@JaxonH
Will it ever, though? I guess there will always be a place for some quirky experiences.
