If you're looking to fill up your Switch's storage with some delightful indie hits to play over the holidays, Nintendo has you covered.
The company has published the latest issue of its 'Inside Indie World' newsletter, offering up some holiday season gift ideas for your friends, family, or even yourself. As well as highlighting some of the eShop's best digital games, the newsletter also includes a couple of features that talk about game development and spotlight specific titles – such as DigixArt with Road 96, and Lienzo with Aztech Forgotten Gods.
You can read the newsletter in full here.
Of course, we're also regularly sharing our top eShop picks right here on Nintendo Life. Make sure to stay tuned to our ongoing eShop Selects series (where we share a rundown of the best digital-only games every single month), or check out Nintendo's official list of the Switch's best-selling indies of 2020 for more buying inspiration.
Remember, now's the perfect time to buy anything you're interested in. Over 1,000 games are currently discounted on the Switch eShop – but the sale ends today!

I love the fact Nintendo gives a lot of attention to indies
@anoyonmus judging by nintendos rate of output, they have no choice 😆
I really love me some good Indies. It has allowed us to experience and play games that the bigger studios just never would put out. My only gripe with Indie games is that they're so numerous that its hard to separate the cream from the crop.
@BigE Which first party publisher has produced more titles this year? Sony put out Ratchet and Returnal, ported God of War and Horizon (maybe that was last year) to PC. What else?
MS has Forza and Halo. They’ve had a bunch of games come day one to Game Pass, but I can’t think of much else they’ve put out for the year.
Aztech Forgotten Gods looks very, very good and I am very excited to get my hands on it!
@Res462 I was totally kidding, I've got about 180 indie games. I love my switch, all of them
Enjoying some death's door!
@Res462 well God of War 2018 is being ported to PC next year, so is Uncharted 4 and the expansion thing idk. Horizon Zero Dawn came out on PC in 2020 I think.
They didn’t put anything else out I think apart from what you said
@anoyonmus I wish they would follow Apple here. Fund some indies and release one or two new games per month and include them with online subscription…
I recommend Eastward. It's gorgeous, has amazing music and sound, Ghibli-inspired, the dungeons and puzzles are engaging (though I wish there were more), the story is heartwarming and filled with mysterious lore. It's dialogue and story-heavy, which some people don't like so know what you're getting into. I loved it myself.
I'm playing Road 96 right now. It's incredible. You play as different character traveling across the country trying to escape an oppressive government. Actions as some characters affect the journey of others. It's hard to explain. But it is narrative heavy, with well-developed characters and it has this kind of menacing unease to it.
How about Nintendo makes it to where you can buy a digital code as a gift? Instead you're limited to indie games that have a retail version.
Hmmm...it seems like there has been a lack of Indie World Showcases this time around.
I like this idea, but how on earth can No More Heroes be regarded as indie?
