Cool deal, hope it works for the Wii VC upgrades!

I agree about the screen resolution of the GamePad actually deterring me from using off TV play. I wanted to play DKC on the GamePad but it's such a beautiful game on a HDTV that is completely wasted on the GamePad. Virtual Console games are fine on it, but the VC catalogue is awful. All the other GamePad features are great though. It also looks extremely unprofessional to be slagging the company you work for, and isn't doing his reputation any favours.

Probably the only time we're gonna see discounts on first party titles and I own them all! Wasn't really worth waiting an extra day for (though it's interesting that it was a public holiday here also yesterday.)

Excited that GBA games are only a month away! Finally something worth buying on Wii U VC...

They can't kill the Wii Shop Channel because it's VC is vastly superior to the Wii U's and they won't be able to make an extra buck from upgrading them! Still, I kinda thought WiFi was dead already, I tried to play Mario Kart Wii on my Wii U and it wouldn't connect. But what's the deal with killing Nintendo Video? It's still current gen y'know Nintendo?

I literally just finished playing Fire Emblem Awakening! And I agree, Nintendo soundtracks would be nice. I've only got the Ocarina of Time 3D and Super Mario All Stars Soundtracks.

Awesome! I'm always partial to a bit of Majora's Mask love. Wish we could finally have the remake, but Nintendo never orchestrates their music for remakes.

I don't care whether you go for all physical, all digital, or both. Personal preferences are your thing. But it bugs me to see so many all physical people who see digital supporters as inferior because they "don't understand" why you chose it.

For me it's a simple choice to go all digital. My location has always been a huge barrier for physical games. There's no stores in my town that stock new releases, forcing me to drive 30-60 minutes away to the nearest game store (and I don't have a car.) Alternatively, I can wait an entire week for a game to arrive from an online order. Therefore, the ability to download a game 2 hours BEFORE the official midnight release (thanks to timezones) will always win over a week's wait.

Price isn't much of an issue either in Australia. Having a look at DKC:TF on our most popular retailers websites, I can see very little discounts (if any) being applied. With the Deluxe Promotion, it's actually cheaper to get it on the eShop! /end rant on why I prefer digital.

I've been madly checking Club Nintendo every day since Christmas and after missing out on the Luigi coin because I was sleeping, I'm glad to have actually made it in time for this! 5000 stars was a bit of a shock, it's left me with only 600 left! The Mario Hat was actually the previous most expensive item at 3200 stars.

I must admit Club Nintendo has been pretty nice lately, we're getting a new item every month (and they're decent.) I've picked up the Hanafuda cards, Mario hat and now the Luigi Diorama to deplete what was once a tally of over 11,000 stars! Now I need to buy more games or I'll miss out on the next best thing.

DK for me! It's funny that Ice Hockey appeared so soon after it was announced for NES Remix 2. Clearly Nintendo wants to cash in on that. Should also give Americans hope that SMB3 will be released there soon.

The 3D trailer on the eShop looks pretty nice. Will be a day 1 buy for me!

Hmm, not much here impressed me. Firstly, a May 31 release date? That barely qualifies as a May release, leaving me over 3 months between DK and MK8. Also, I must be in the minority who doesn't care about the Koopalings (why do people love them so much?) so seeing 7 whole roster spots taken by them annoys me. Hopefully there's plenty more characters in the roster. The game still looks beautiful though!

It was nice to see them admit it took FOREVER for these to arrive, but where's my N64 games? They were announced a year ago too, and nothing has been said since...

I'll definitely be picking up Mario and Luigi, I've recently been addicted to Dream Team, racking up 40 hours and still not finished!

Glad to see it's taking off, though it would be nice to be offered discounts for owning the first one. Also one day I'd love to see a N64 Remix!

Aww man why did they have to change the time? 10pm was a perfect time for me to watch Directs. Now it's 6am? Ugh looks like I'll be watching it later after all the news has been spoiled for me. At least the overreacting for skipping a month is over now. Although I have a feeling the next overreaction will be people overhyping themselves and hating what is revealed.

This scared me for a minute when I thought I saw "Nintendo ends partnership with Australian distributor" (although it wouldn't surprise me.) I really need to stop misreading Austria all the time...

I'm glad to see you get ALTTP, if only to see all the whining come to an end. Sadly, the whining for SMB3 continues (despite it being a far more recent release in Europe.) Also just noticed that Runner 2 is the same price in Australia woo! Now if only I owned one of the other games, I could get it for $6...

Looking forward to this (gotta play something before Mario Kart 8 arrives) and I'm actually trying to beat DKCR 3D in preparation for it.

I worry about the wording Iwata has used here. "One day" doesn't give much hope for an account system to be implemented any time soon, instead making it sound years away. I'd like to see an eShop app, that would be handy.

Hmm, I already got it into my head that this would be out in April, so that's a little annoying. Hopefully there's something to play in between.

I have nearly every DS game I ever want to own, and have no desire to play through them again (let alone paying for them again) so I'm not really feeling this news. Is it that hard to release some N64, GBA or even GC games on the VC? Clearly not if they're going to the effort of putting DS games on, which means they're just choosing not to release any. I can't believe how frustrating the Wii U VC is.

I would buy Runner 2, but I'm fairly sure it STILL remains unavailable in Australia. Anyway, between Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion, I'm content.

Yeah, I'm not shelling out $40 for this. I bought Mario Party (also a 6/10) which wasn't worth $60. I'll wait for MK8 (which hopefully isn't too far away!)

However, this is a brilliant feature I've been hoping Nintendo implements into MK8: "The GamePad player has the option — in single player too — of using the controller's screen, and in multiplayer that means two players have a screen each, three players have only one split on the TV and so on."

Meanwhile in Australia, I'm still waiting for the Luigi's Mansion diorama to appear, having missed out on the Year of Luigi coin selling out in mere hours. Wouldn't mind a yellow cradle to (sorta) match my Zelda 3DS XL.

I never bought any of the DLC games, however I would like to one day. But not until I actually get regular StreetPass hits, more than one a month would be nice. Wish I got to enjoy StreetPass a bit more, it's really cool.

Heh, thought it would have been back up by now, but judging by the comments it appears not! Haven't actually had any time to fire up my Wii U/3DS, what with it being Christmas. I'm sure Nintendo staff would like to enjoy their holidays too, and they probably didn't want to upgrade their servers just for a few days of extra traffic.

NOA was a bit slow on these, I got mine from Nintendo Australia months ago! It was around the same price too.

You've got the Wii U pricing wrong. Although I don't think it matters to Wii VC upgraders, the price will still be lower than the discount. I kinda want to buy it on 3DS too, but I don't really support buying the same game twice, especially now the systems are linked.

It's definitely Zelda, there's a triforce in the hill! Really glad to see Sega do this, it's motivated me to actually play through the game now.

Wait, what? How did Australia come out with the cheapest price? ($13) Sure, it's only $2, but I'm so happy to have something cheaper for once.

I'm loving 3DS Miiverse more than I thought I would, already shared 2 New Leaf screenshots today, starting to become addicting sharing all the cool things I come across!

Uhh, you CAN run games from the SD Card. I have 9 retail games, plus hundreds of VC, eShop only games, trailers/videos and demos all on my 32GB SD card, playable at any time having nothing to do with system memory. The only thing that can't be played from SD Cards is DSiWare (and they're not very big.)

Didn't like being forced to implement Parental Controls when linking my NNID, but at least I could disable it afterwards. Also hate being locked to Australia, but what can ya do? Miiverse is nice, and I approve of removing system transfer limits (I was down to my last 2.) I love how Nintendo has updated the Camera app opening twice now. Nobody is ever happy with it. XD

Do people honestly believe that Nintendo will just suddenly dump the Wii U within a year, pull a big middle finger to the millions who bought it, and release a new console, expecting everyone to rush out and buy it? /sigh

Oh dear, I loaded up my town yesterday after about a 2 month absence and it was not a pretty sight any more! Also, I wish just once they could make an Animal Crossing game that caters to the whole world, not just the northern hemisphere. I don't want to be seeing winter in December!

Man, I just don't understand how the N64 Mario Parties were some of the best multiplayer fun I've had but every release since then hasn't matched up. Mario Party 9 was very lacklustre after they changed the formula (I haven't gone back to it since release), and now these mistakes have been repeated here. I miss the good old days of non-linear boards and length determined by you. Just bring Mario Party 1-3 to the Wii U Virtual Console and I'll be happy.

Wow, I hit the jackpot here! Not only is Australia actually included for once, but I've already bought a new Zelda 3DS XL which includes a download code for the game, therefore, free SM3DL coming my way! I've always wanted to switch the early releases over to digital copies but the $70 price tag on them is too much.

Will be downloading Zelda once my Zelda 3DS XL arrives. Bit annoyed Rayman dropped price already, paid full price for it not too long ago. Might as well try the 3DS Sonic demo too, even though I have the superior Wii U version. Looks like I might turn Nintendo Video back on too so I can check out the Zelda video!

I find it amusing that 93% of this site will own a Wii U by 2014, yet we are plagued by doom bringing haters and trolls. Just goes to show how the minority can ruin it for everyone.

BTW I misread the second poll and accidentally answered "None of them, I don't need or want any of these consoles" when I didn't realise there was an "only a Wii U" option. /facepalm

Another reason why I love the eShop: unlimited supply!

Miiverse and Youtube are good news, and I was happy about NNID combined balances until I found out that doing so region locks you to a single country's eShop, which is terrible news for Australia.
