It's a full on Nintendo Download week, Europe, with the lineup kicking off our Monday with a bewildering range of options. We have some big-name retail titles arriving, three intriguing Wii U eShop download-only releases, a hugely attractive Rayman discount and a lot more besides. It's a long list, so let's get on with it.
Wii U eShop
Coaster Crazy Deluxe (Frontier, €6.70 / £5.99) — Frontier was last seen on Nintendo download platforms with the excellent WiiWare titles LostWinds and LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias, and now makes its Wii U eShop debut with this rollercoaster design game. It has some wacky touches, such as the task to keep the "Crazies" happy, while also throwing in online leaderboards and challenges. We'll eat too many sugary snacks and hit the theme park for our upcoming review.
Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths (Ynnis Interactive, €14.99 / £13.49) — Based on a Japanese / French animated series with a loyal following, this project ran a successful crowdfunding campaign to secure English localisation. An adventure in which you control up to three characters, this aims to suit various gaming ages while offering free DLC to expand the story alongside the TV show. We'll try to find our way to a review, soon.
EDGE (Two Tribes, €1.99 / £1.79 until 2nd January 2014, then €3.99 / £3.59) — Originally released on smartphones and PC, this is the second "Two Tribes Classic" to arrive on the Wii U eShop, and in this case the game is making its Nintendo début. It's a stylish retro-infused puzzle platformer in which you manoeuvre a cube through tricky environments. We'll check it out for review, while in the meantime you can learn more from our early access hands-on impressions of EDGE.
Wii U Virtual Console
Brawl Brothers (HAMSTER, €7.99 / £5.49) — The 16-bit era had its share of excellent beat 'em ups, and this one was another contender for the crown. We felt some over-long stage design let this one down — along with other minor annoyances — in our Wii Virtual Console Brawl Brothers review; we'll get ready for action for an updated review, soon.
Wii U Retail Download
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag (Ubisoft, €69.99 / £55.99) — The latest in Ubisoft's triple-A franchise, this opts for a Pirates in the Caribbean setting (it had to be said) that incorporates a more open world and a greater focus on battles at sea. It's another enjoyable entry in the franchise despite some hiccups, and you can see all of the detail in our Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag review.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (WB Games, €49.99 / £44.99)
Ben 10 Omniverse 2 (NAMCO BANDAI Games, €44.99 / £36.99)
Barbie Dreamhouse Party (Little Orbit, €29.99 / £29.99)
Monster High 13 Wishes (Little Orbit, €29.99 / £24.99)
Wii U Retail Demo
Sonic Lost World (SEGA, free)
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (WB Games, free)
Wii U Retail Download Permanent Discount
Rayman Legends (Ubisoft, €29.99 / £23.99, was €44.99 / £36.99)
3DS eShop
Word Wizard 3D (Enjoy Gaming, €2.99 / £2.50 until 12th December, will be €3.99 / £3.30) — A collection of eight word games such as Hangman and 'Wordoku', with some 3D flourishes and a promise of "over 100,000 words" from each of the English, French and Spanish dictionaries, without any naughty ones getting through. Plugged as a fun educational experience, our assessment will be with you shortly.
Chevrolet Camaro Wild Ride 3D (Enjoy Gaming, €2.99 / £2.50 until 12th December, then €3.99 / £3.30) — This racing game promises to span three continents with 10 different cars to drive, with Challenge, Time Attack and Two Player races. We'll put on our seatbelts and race a review to you.
Jewel Match 3 (Joindots, €6.99 / £5.99) — The match-3 genre continues to grow on the 3DS eShop, with this effort promising "100 absolutely huge levels" and including a suitably dramatic storyline. These puzzle games can be rather fun, and this one has three modes to choose from, so we'll see how it stacks up.
Christmas Wonderland 3 (Microvalue, €4.99 / £4.49) — The first two titles in this series were abominations; let's see if this one fares better.
3DS Virtual Console
Donkey Kong (Nintendo, €4.99 / £4.49) — This NES port of the iconic arcade game completes its journey to all regions on the Wii, Wii U and 3DS Virtual Consoles, with its well known running and jumping as DK throws deadly barrels at Mario's face. It's simple but classic, even if its simplicity betrays its age — check out our Donkey Kong review if you want to know more.
3DS Retail Download
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (Nintendo, €44.99 / £39.99) — It's a new Zelda title on the 3DS, words to give many gamers a thrill. Set in the same world as the iconic SNES title The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, this latest entry shakes up some core aspects of the series formula by allowing players more freedom in choosing the order of playing dungeons. We feel that it's a bold, fresh take on the series that hits its marks, awarding 10/10 in our The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds review.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Universe in Peril (WB Games, €39.00 / £39.99)
Ben 10 Omniverse 2 (NAMCO BANDAI Games, €34.99 / £28.49)
Barbie Dreamhouse Party (Little Orbit, €29.99 / £24.99)
My Exotic Farm (Bigben Interactive, €24.99 / £19.99)
The Cube (Funbox Media, €7.99 / £7.19)
3DS Retail Demo
Sonic Lost World (SEGA, free)
3DS Retail Download Permanent Discount
Reel Fishing Paradise 3D (Funbox Media, €3.99 / £3.59), was €13.99 / £12.59)
Nintendo Video
The Legend of Zelda: The Misadventures of Link - Episode 1: Tunnel Vision — This original series of comedic shorts shows Link, the series' star, in a new and humourous light. His surroundings will be familiar to fans of the series, since the shorts are based on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD game for the Wii U console. Tunnel Vision is the first episode in the series, with further episodes released in future weeks.

Looks like I will be smashin' some indies on WiiU this weekend... Still nothing on 3DS until the Mega Drive 3D classics arrive
I have 15 download vouchers if anyone wants to hit me up... DIGITAL 4 LYFE BABY
Does anybody pay the ridiculous prices Ubisoft want for new releases?
I have an eshop voucher but I think I will save it something I want rather than an impulse buy. Mysterious Cities of Gold might get bought but those demos are probably enough.
Definitely getting Rayman Legends now. A bit bummed I spent my eShop voucher over the weekend on Pikmin DLC, because then it would really have been a bargain, but such is life i guess
I'm dying to play Zelda, but I'm waiting for my gold Triforce 3DS.
I have been looking at TwoTribes classics for a while now, so i'll be getting Edge. Also, the City of Gold game sounds interesting, yet no good information on the site to guarantee the buy. I'll be looking more at it when its release
Rayman legends looks interesting enough, I might pick it up later.
Everyones talking about Raymond, just noticed the discount. What is file size? May get it if its not too big.
@NitendJoe64 I wouldn't worry, Ubisoft will more than likely have black flag down to half price within a couple of months.
Atleast Ubisoft does discounts on their retail downloads, the rest need to take notice and follow suite.
Just Zelda for me. The rest is pretty much trash, as always.
It seems you've got some work to do guys, I hope all those reviews will arrive soon
Look at the FIFA 13 game on eShop for example. It is still € 70 !!!!!!!
^oh yes, maybe getting AC4 then. Even AC3 was dropped quite fast (even stores here dropped it, got it for 20€). But I don't understand why the ..the release prices is that high? Well, if they have customers to buy it with that - it's fine.
Oh Rayman Legends! I got it on release (tho had to wait extra since first disc was faulty) and it's amazing game. So much fun and if you liked Origins, you won't be disappointed.
I'm not fond of buying games digital, so LBW yes, but as physical copy. Demos are yay for me! I think there should be much, much more demos.
Still waiting for Fist of the North Star to drop it's prices at least for 10€.
Well, still no sign of Super Mario Bros. 3. Not that I was expecting it or anything
Would've been nice to introduce us to the SNES VC by putting A Link to the Past up for sale, since it would nicely compliment A Link Between Worlds.
I paid for Zelda on physical last week and it should arrive with the mail on Thursday. Will be trying out Sonic Lost World and Lego Marvel Super Heroes demos in the meantime (my big brother is a huge comic book fan and is definitely interested in playing it).
@Savino
In Europe it comes out next week on the 29th.
The Legend of Zelda: The Misadventures of Link - Episode 1: Tunnel Vision
Sonic Lost World 3DS Demo
And possibly Rayman Legends.
@MadAussieBloke 15 I haven't even got one yet.
Well, I guess I will check out both Sonic demos, no reason not to. The "Misadventures..." seems fun, but otherwise I believe I won't sped any cash on eShop, unluess EDGE is good (and I can't rule out the fact that it is)...
@Jazzer94 Yeah, each one is worth AU$7.00 and I have only used 3 so far (18 total)... A nice tidy sum for being a DIGITAL 4 LYFE supporter
What's the price on Link to the Past?
And I'm just saying but €69.99 for AC4? That's ridiculous. Who would prefer to buy it digitally with that price point?
If Coaster Crazy Deluxe is even remotely anything like RollerCoaster Tycoon, I think I might have a good time with that.
@Beechbone This AussieBloke is Mad enough to buy it for all the points I accumulate for download codes
AC4 = £56!! Jeez, glad I pre-ordered mine for £30 in April!
@lbs Yeah, the choppy framerated glitchfest physical version... No thanks
I'm getting a physical copy of Zelda, so I'll just be downloading the Lost World 3DS demo.
I'll get Edge and download the Sonic LW demos to see if I want them for Christmas as well as watch the Nintendo Video.
Getting LOZALBW physically for the collection so didn't vote for it.
why the... is it so expensive to buy games for download... it is cheaper to buy the damn discs... and cooler also.!
nice to see some permanent discounts though....
Just the Wii U demos for me. Nothing inspiring in the eShop or VC selections and I don't buy retail downloads while games are tied to the hardware, that's just a rip-off.
Been hoping for a Sonic Demo for a while so that's a plus.
Ubisoft eshop prices are always silly, it's like they don't want anyone to buy their games.
Come on Barbie, let`s go party!!!
Wow, apart from the weak VC offering one of the best weeks in a long time!
@anders190 Yeah, I grabbed ZombiU & Assassins Creed 3 for AU$17.00 each when they first went on sale in the eShop. 2 awesome games pretty much fell off the back of the truck so I nabbed them along with getting a download code for my purchase... No complaints here
I really really really really really want The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to save for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
@Poketendo That doesn't make any sense, you do realize that SSB 3D won't likely come out until next summer, right? That's a long time to save money just for a game that will cost $39.99.
Wow that's one serious discount for Reel Fishing 3D
@BlatantlyHeroic Maybe he's not able to top-up his e-shop credit as frequently as you are.
What a great week! Tough choices to make. I'll definitely get Edge while the sale is on but that's just the tip of the iceberg this week.
As @MadAussieBloke would say... Digital 4 Lyfe!
@FineLerv This dude... This is the dude
I wish they wouldn't put a "nothing for me" option. It's hard to get an accurate comparison of the popularity of each offering when the DATA is corrupted by the anti-digital brigade. At least make the vote say "Nothing for me but I still buy digital".
Wasn't Ace Attorney DLC case supposed to be released this week?
@MadAussieBloke Same was said about Blacklist, was fine....
@SavantSupreme Nope. They are ALWAYS more expensive on launch.
Finally Sonic demos are here! Also the Nintendo Video content sounds awesome.
Did Frontier ever get that Lost Winds Wii to Wii U transfer fixed? It really sucks if it still doesn't work in Wii U.
@belmont
The dlc is coming, but I wonder if instead 3DS eShop it will come as Inn-App Purchase since also the clothes dlc can't be downloaded from the eshop, but instead only inside the game's own dlc menu.
@lbs AC4 is a big open world game while Splinter Cell isn't... Trust me the physical version will run like poopydongadinglesdorf
Its ridiculous that NES Donkey Kong costs more than Game Boy Donkey Kong. NES Donkey Kong should have been the lowest cost since its only three screens. Or better yet, Donkey Kong Classics which includes DK Jr too.
Mysterious Cities of Gold? May as well just watch the original series opening theme again and be happy with that. Much better than the new cartoon series theme too.
@MadAussieBloke We wouldn't have that problem if the Wii U allowed proper installs for games.
Great Week i think
Demos will be downloaded
Zelda Video will be watched
Mysterious Cities of Gold will be bought sooner or later too.
Im very satisfied <:
Any questions about EDGE anyone?
Ask away!
@Jazzer94 Either go with the superior digital version or play the crappy physical disc and just ↓
Will be downloading Zelda once my Zelda 3DS XL arrives. Bit annoyed Rayman dropped price already, paid full price for it not too long ago. Might as well try the 3DS Sonic demo too, even though I have the superior Wii U version. Looks like I might turn Nintendo Video back on too so I can check out the Zelda video!
I'll be interested to see if the Jewel Match 3 game does make it over there. It was on the list of eshop games for NA last week but it's not in the eshop.
Nothing related to this article but when did you guys launch the mobile site?
Please let the rayman legends permanant discount come in the U.S.! please!!!
if Brawl Brothers comes out in the US, I can only imagine how bad that community will be bombarded with complaints about it not being SMB3.
I hope the discount on Rayman comes to the US and the Marvel Heros Demo. MCG looks pretty good too
I backed Mysterious Cities of Gold on Kickstarter. My kids will be excited to play this one as they love the cartoon series. For me it's the retail version of Zelda: ALBW this Friday!
On the Virtual Console front it's another disappointing week as usual.
It's shovelware time! The eShop is getting crowded with crap
@MadAussieBloke Or I can enjoy both.
I half want to buy Coaster Crazy Deluxe, just to throw more money at Frontier to get them to make another LostWinds. But if I did that they may think I want more Coaster Crazy Deluxe which isn't the case. I'm definitely buying EDGE, awesome game at a cheap price! & I'll eventually get Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths though I wish I knew how/when/where the TV show was being played. Might buy Rayman Legends in December as either a download or retail. Might pick up Jewel Match 3 one day, seems cheap & big. Might download Sonic Lost World 3DS demo if I have space, really should buy a bigger SDHC card, if I did that I could redownload Nintendo Video to watch Misadventures of Link.. Already got The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds preordered retail.
@MadAussieBloke you've got 15 unused Nintendo premium vouchers?! May I have one or two?
Donkey Kong, one of the bestest games ever!
This would be an ingenious time to start introducing SNES virtual console on 3DS.
Release ALTTP alongside ALBW
FRAK YA
@BlatantlyHeroic Because there are a lot of other things I have or want to buy in the meanwhile too. I haven't got that much money, especially since I only bought my 3DS recently. I'd rather save up more of my pocket money in case I really need it (for example, if my phone or 3DS breaks), and only buy games I really really really really really really really want, like Smash Bros 4. A Link Between Worlds is still on the list, just not that high.
Yet anther ubisoft game that I bought day one that has had a load of money slashed off the price within 2-3 months. It's good to see this now happening on Wii U now, but this does mean I will NOT be buying assassins creed IV till it drops to inevitably £25 in february
Since I'm going for the collector's edition of Link Between Worlds, no need to get a digital version really.
I'll get the Sonic Lost World 3DS demo at least, I hear only a few levels are actually worth playing, taking a serious nose-drive after the enjoyable part anyway.
The Ubisoft eshop price drops and sale prices are very attractive. Got AC 3 that way. When i finish it sometime from now i'll be ready for the AC 4 price drop.
So Reel Fishing is now the same price as the Mini version. Glad I held off buying Mini then!
that bloke keeps saying download is best haha no its not it's twice the price and it's better to own it on disc with a box and booklet for a nice collection and if you ever want to sell it you can unlike download.
Nintendo are pumping games out a bit more now ready for xmas so new wiiu owners see more games and to compete with next gen consoles.
Oh man! Getting the physical version of Zelda this friday, then on saturday there's the 50th Anniversary Doctor Who special! What an awesome geekend it's gonna be! ^-^
... Oh nice, there's also a demo of Sonic.
@Savino i'll be buying a retail copy
demos and maybe the coster game
Wait, there's really some people who voted "Nothing for me this week"????? But Zelda... A ZELDA GAME comes this week!! Or maybe they choose that option because they would get the physical version.
Hey, Why is not Super Mario 3D World in the list?
@luisesteban
'cos it's not out in the UK until the 29th
@brucelebnd And rightfully so! SMB3 is a classic platformer while Brawl Brothers is an average beat-em-up at best. And it would be foolish of Nintendo not to take advantage of the tie-in with 3D World.
@MadAussieBloke Are you offering to give those away for free? If that's the case I will gladly take a couple of them off your hands.
The Phoenix Wright DLC case is also out this week, yes?
@WiiLovePeace First you must beat me on Wii Sports Tennis mate
@Unit_DTH They won't work unless you move to Australia
@Luna-Harmony Physical disc = POOP
@MadAussieBloke Hmmm... well it was worth a shot.
As much as I like Donkey Kong, I think I'll stick with the Game Boy version. I mean the tutorial a recreation of the arcade version as opposed to the NES port, which means that 50m - the factory stage - is included!
In terms of digital games I'm waiting for the Sega 3D Classics and some of the indie games on both eShops. Can't decide which though. 1001 Spikes, Shantae, Retro City Rampage, Shovel Knight, etc. all look great, but I will only have the cash for a few. Thank god the balances are being merged next month.
£55.99 and £44.99 for AC:4 and Lego Marvel? Get a grip Nintendo, is it any wonder I haven't embraced the digital age with these rip-off prices. I got Lego Marvel for £29.19 from Amazon for crying out loud!
@MadAussieBloke I already beat you in Wii Sports Tennis! Our first match I won
None, but's it is good to see that some overpriced retail games like Reel Fishing 3D gets a new change as cheap eShop release. First Bouldash now another game, hope more follow.
nothing for me. Getting a link between worlds on release day from best buy. Should have taken a day off. LOL
I love how so many people (as per real life conversations and the comments here) are buying the hard copy of A Link Between Worlds. I really don't see much sense to the downloads of games people would much rather be able to grasp in their hands and store it away for future nostalgia when the title grows old. What's the point?!
@WiiLovePeace Some might call it beginners luck... I say I let you win just to make you feel special... That's why MadOzBloke IS ALWAYS THE CHAMPION
@MadAussieBloke I don't really see how the digital version is all that much better. Disc read speeds on Wii U are about 23MB, USB 2.0 caps out around 34MB. Plus when the eShop eventually closes down for Wii U (in some 10 years or longer), you may not be able to redownload your games. It would be nice if the Wii U supported USB 3.0 to make drive speeds the same as having an internal HDD.
@MadAussieBloke excuses, excuses MadHatter
@MadAussieBloke What download vouchers do you have? You are just giving them away?
@WiiLovePeace We will see what goes down in the next chapter of our rivalry... Unlucky for you that last week wasn't part of the deal
@IlovedemRPGS I have alot of those WiiU deluxe premium points saved up because I download all my games from the eShop... They might not work in NTSC areas though only PAL... You gotta beat me on Tennis in the PAL region
@bmprsvz777
Those demos have been on the Store for ages, in the UK at least
@Yoshi88
People don't like getting ripped off. Digital versions are more expensive despite including no packaging and Nintendo saving loads on distribution costs. They're worth less than physical copies because you can't resell them. Plus with Nintendo's farcical 'Account system' if your hardware breaks you have to jump through hoops to get your games back or if the machine gets lost/stolen you lose your games altogether. Rip off.
@ledreppe
I don't think Nintendo set the prices for third-party games
@MadAussieBloke Hahaha I will see you in another round of Tennis soon then!
Seriously guys, if you even consider buying the New Super Mario games get Rayman Legends, Definately the best multiplayer on the system since Nintendo Land!
ALSO I'm delighted to see we get those videos as well since I hadn't seen confirmation!
The best games i preffer to get them in physical version instead download.
Finally a Sonic Lost World demo! I really think ill like this game but the negative reviews have put me off a little bit, great to be able to try it first!
May take time off from Ryse to play some Zelda while the game installs...
Yeah, new Wii U demos!
Cities of Gold! A simple premise, but actually quite a fun little game. Not being able to see the whole of a map probably pushes up the difficulty to just enough to keep me interested. It's pretty great!
us needs that rayman discount....
