I'm glad this game is finally here, I've been sold on it since the Challenges App came out. I wanted to like W101, but I just can't find myself interested in it. So Rayman is the only game I want until Wind Waker HD releases!
@SanderEvers If you don't want to give Ubisoft money, then I suggest you buy the game used. Simple.
Well, when you release an unfinished product out into the world, what do you expect will happen? I bought it in the release period when nothing was there, and was very disappointed. Now that release window is over, who else is going to blindly buy an unfinished game? They only have themselves to blame. It's not like many Wii U developers haven't had a problem with delaying games for months.
I'm in Australia and even I've bought a GAME download code! (the early Pikmin 3 code release) Saved $20 off the eShop price so I was very happy too. Might even do it on a regular basis.
I was always under the impression that accounts would be coming by the end of the year, so I'll keep sticking to that. It doesn't really concern me that much though, and I'm tired of the endless comments for accounts to be implemented.
It's a neat idea to be able to purchase games online, I'd like to be able to "pre-order" games and have it download automatically when the game releases. And if you could use Paypal as a payment method that'd be awesome.
@raiden777 Jeez, that's a lot of bad language ranting about something completely irrelevant to the article in question.
It wouldn't surprise me to see them release a WWHD bundle, although I would've thought it would be a special edition. (which I hope they don't do, or I will be insanely jealous.)
Space isn't an issue for me, I've already got a 2TB drive. What concerns me more is how long that 10GB download will take... I'm still undecided on buying the game though.
@millsy-muss It's sorta complicated. First, open up Settings. Change your country to the UK. Go back to the Wii U menu. Click your Mii face icon. Choose Add new user. Make a new account. When all that's done, go into the eShop and try it again. After you download it, change your country back to Australia and then log back into your normal account. And viola! In the future, you can just change your country and log into the account you already created.
Got myself a code, and I'm in Australia! Got it $20 cheaper than what Nintendo Australia wants too (plus I have a chance of getting the 30% discount on W101 which was unsurprisingly ignored here)
Cue the angry responses that say Europe's promotion is better. But if you think about it, this one might be better if you don't want to download Pikmin and W101, but instead enjoy the freedom of buying whatever you want.
Damn, I shouldn't have been so lazy and downloaded Earthbound earlier.
Edit: Didn't end up having any problems accessing the eShop or downloading it. Lucky me I guess!
Looks like I might be buying an eShop card tomorrow... It's $13 for any Aussies out there. Sure is a high profile game to mark the first game distinct from the Wii VC. Here's hoping many more new games come soon!
Woo! I buy all my retail games digitally so this is awesome! Was already planning to download Pikmin 3 next week and this is definitely enticing me to buy W101 as I wasn't sure about it before. And with my birthday falling into the offer timeframe, I can get a discounted W101 and something else. And FINALLY a decent offer Australia can have access to!
Anyone complaining can feel free to send a Majora's Mask CD over my way in Australia as I would love to buy that with my Club Nintendo stars (and you get it for free!) but not only do we have no reward system, but the whole Club in general is pathetic. I have nearly 8000 stars wasting away with nothing worthwhile to purchase.
My love for Majora's Mask is just too great that I might have to buy one off ebay and suffer the insane pricetag! (but it will be so worth it) And while Nintendo's at it, can we get the MM3D remake I've been waiting for?
I buy my retail games 100% digitally now because Australia gets so ripped off and there isn't a lot of difference in launch day prices. May as well take advantage of midnight releases, the $7 Premium rebate, and double Club Nintendo stars on the 3DS. I don't find it appealing to import games and wait 2 weeks for delivery. Even buying a game online from within Australia still takes 1 week to get to me. So I will take digital every time. But yes, I would like some cheaper prices.
I've caught a tarantula but only ever seen one scorpion, which was the other night and it fell to its death before I got the courage to approach it But the golden stag and horned hercules fight in the museum is rather amusing
I'm so glad I'm on holidays right now, or else I'd never find the time to finish this game! Can't wait to download it tonight. Bowser's Inside Story was probably my favourite DS game, I just love this series.
I'm looking forward to it's release, and I'm even prepared to pay full price for it. Sure, the lack of new content is a bit disappointing, but I feel like there is more Nintendo hasn't revealed yet. And it is a remake, so you can't expect them to alter the game into something it never was. I've been looking for an excuse to play through this wonderful game again, and this is the perfect way to breathe life back into the experience.
With OOT3D's release, I was genuinely annoyed that the music in the game hadn't been orchestrated, because it was quite old and would've been amazing to update. But I can see the argument of keeping the nostalgia of the original intact and Wind Waker's music isn't dated enough for me to care that it isn't orchestrated.
However, I do question Nintendo's overall choice to remake Wind Waker. It doesn't exactly cry out "remake me in HD" because the art style is just so timeless. I'm rather disappointed they didn't choose Majora's Mask (my favourite game ever) which is much more dated and played by even less people, and actually deserves a HD remake. But that would have required Nintendo to put more effort in, which is where I believe they are being lazy, by choosing the easiest game to update to 1080p.
I'm still a sucker for any new Zelda game, HD/3D remake or not. Although I do find it very ridiculous that people still want an Ocarina of Time HD remake, I mean how many times do you want that game re-released? Was 3D not good enough for you? Please give other games the chance they deserve!
Downloading Dream Team as soon as it releases! And if there's no more Famicom promotion titles coming, can we get some better (new) VC titles please? How long will it take before N64 titles arrive?
You raise some valid points, but they only apply to UK/US gamers importing games from Japan. For me, living in Australia, I would love the option to buy games from the US eShop, because they are up to 50% cheaper sometimes! While it's not exactly a region lock issue, (as region free consoles still have the same prices) pricing in certain countries does become a major problem when region locks are in place. If I was to buy an imported US Wii U or 3DS, I would actually save hundreds of dollars, just because their games are so much cheaper! So that's why I don't necessarily agree with your views in this article.
New Leaf still has the same grip on my life it did 3 weeks ago, plus Club LOL opened yesterday, so I'm excited to see some KK action! I've also been trying to get into Game and Wario, as for $80, I'd want to be enjoying it! And some DKCR 3D in between Animal Crossing.
I've already gone fully digital so a 10% discount would be icing on the cake as I also buy first party games on day one.
@Beta Umm there is no such 10% discount on money you load on to the eShop if that's what you mean. Premium owners get a bonus voucher after purchasing games (for the full price) that rack up points to a total of 500 points. This offer would make the game 10% cheaper but that would earn you less points so you might not get the reward code.
I can't believe how quietly this game release has sneaked up on me! Less than 2 weeks away? I can hardly believe it. This looks so amazing that it might just give Animal Crossing the boot with the most time I play a game.
@Bass_X0 For me, it's because I'm waiting for some NEW VC releases to come out, not the same Wii VC rehashed for the next 6 years. I've already bought all the Wii VC games I wanted on the Wii, transferred them to the Wii U, and I'm waiting for some of them to get re-released to play on the GamePad and use save states.
I don't think I'll be getting any of these. They sound nice, but I haven't had a StreetPass for months (and won't for several more) so spending $20 on the lot isn't worth it. Besides, I'm using my Play Coins for the endless amounts of Puzzle Swap pieces and Animal Crossing fortune cookies!
My StreetPass shop works in Australia. Individual prices are $6.50 and the combo pack is $19.50. Not sure if I want to spend that much on StreetPass games, I rarely get any as it is! I did notice that the StreetPass map has been updated for us Australians, so it now works! Although New Zealand is left with a blank screen, no map for them. Also disappointed I can't backup Animal Crossing. Why exactly would it cause cheating? It can't be any more cheating than changing the time on your system.
Can't wait, but I need to know: does the sea map display on the GamePad screen while you are sailing? If not, they missed a great opportunity to improve the sailing.
Damn you Aonuma, stop messing with me already! I need Majora's Mask 3D. If you need to put your soul into it, just think of the Song of Healing and it will come naturally.
When I caught the end of the reveal in the horrible stream, I actually thought it was a 3DS game until it said Wii U. I'm a bit sad they based it off SM3DL which wasn't the best Mario game. HOWEVER the game does look really neat, they've incorporated bits from several different games and multiplayer is an amazing concept for a 3D Mario!
It's actually really hard to choose a piece I wanted. I could've gone for the last regular piece in the DKCR puzzle that's been evading me for months, I could've gone for a piece of a NEW puzzle I don't have yet (one of the ones from before the pink piece's invention) but I eventually settled with a pink piece in my Super Mario 3D Land puzzle (only 3 more to completion!) as I just can't pass up opportunities for pink pieces.
Gonna have to upgrade my 16GB SD Card soon enough, only have 28,000 blocks left (but I do have 4 retail downloads, 30+ VC games, 15 download only games, and dozens of demos/videos.) Still, bring on downloadable Animal Crossing!
@Bluezealand Sorry, but you're way off. Australia's eShop charges $69.95 for most 3DS games, and some retailers will discount it to around 50-60 dollars. Wii U games charge $79.95 on the Wii U eShop, with perhaps a few retailers dropping it to around $60. (clearance sales aside) The Premium Wii U retails for $430, that is just a big sale. Compare these prices to America, where the dollar is almost equal to theirs (and was higher up until recently) and this is why we complain.
Switching regions isn't that simple either, you can't use the funds you have on your Aussie account towards a Euro purchase, eShop cards don't register in overseas eShops, and you might get charged foreign transaction fees with credit/debit cards. And I'm not entirely sure it's possible to swap regions on the Wii U, I've tried to change it but it automatically defaults to Australia with no way of changing it (does anyone know how to do it?)
But, prices do seem to be going down slowly. With DKCR 3D's release and I believe Animal Crossing too, the RRP has dropped to $59.95. It wasn't too long ago that Wii games retailed for $99.95 but now Wii U games are $20 cheaper. We still have a long way to go. And yes, our Club Nintendo sucks compared to yours. I've got 6500 stars lying around with nothing to spend them on. So yeah, I wouldn't be looking at Australia with envy.
Boring week in terms of NEW content. Permanent Wii U discounts are a good thing, just that I don't care for ZombiU no matter how much it costs. I have the Tetris cart already too. Wii U VC continues to be absolutely useless for yet another week. Good thing I'm addicted to Oracle of Ages from last week and I've still got DKCR 3D to play through. Hopefully E3 will bring some positive news for WiiU VC (N64 games!) otherwise it will never come.
It was hard to pick one title I'm looking forward to the most. I opted for Super Mario 3D, as I'm extremely excited to see what Nintendo have got in store this time after the Galaxy games. But I'm also very excited for Wind Waker HD and Mario Kart, as these will be just as amazing. Sonic and Rayman have also got my interest and I look forward to their arrival. Woo 2013 looks to finish off very strongly for Wii U, wouldn't have thought that in January!
Both Oracle games for me (yay discounts!) Yet another week where the Wii U VC is completely ignored by me for being terrible. It's a joke that games are still releasing on Wii VC while Wii U is slowly playing catch up. And it's about time Chasing Aurora got a permanent discount, it goes on sale at least once a month
I certainly made use of the Wii's backwards compatibility, since I never had a GameCube, and got into some of the system's great games. Granted, I haven't used it much on Wii U/3DS, as I had both a Wii/DS, and felt like I'd played it's games to death (which is why I was upgrading to a new console.) Still, I'd be annoyed to not have it included. Also, there's something about that guy that is just very off but I can't quite place it...
I'm curious to see what Microsoft does but not interested in buying it. I'm hoping some of the doom and gloom will go away after seeing what Microsoft is doing (seriously, the graphics can't be that much better than Wii U.)
I had to turn mine on for it to initiate the automatic download process and then restart the console to update it after it downloaded. I don't think that's how standby downloads are meant to work...

It's a joke that games are still releasing on Wii VC while Wii U is slowly playing catch up. And it's about time Chasing Aurora got a permanent discount, it goes on sale at least once a month
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Thirteen
While I should be studying for my exams beginning on Monday, I will undoubtedly spend most of the weekend playing DKCR 3D!
Re: Microsoft: If You're Backwards Compatible, You're Really Backwards
I certainly made use of the Wii's backwards compatibility, since I never had a GameCube, and got into some of the system's great games. Granted, I haven't used it much on Wii U/3DS, as I had both a Wii/DS, and felt like I'd played it's games to death (which is why I was upgrading to a new console.) Still, I'd be annoyed to not have it included. Also, there's something about that guy that is just very off but I can't quite place it...
Re: Poll: Do You Follow and Watch Rival Console Reveals?
I'm curious to see what Microsoft does but not interested in buying it. I'm hoping some of the doom and gloom will go away after seeing what Microsoft is doing (seriously, the graphics can't be that much better than Wii U.)
Re: New Wii U System Update Goes Live
I had to turn mine on for it to initiate the automatic download process and then restart the console to update it after it downloaded. I don't think that's how standby downloads are meant to work...
Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd May (Europe)
Just DK for me. Good to see VC discounts happen in Europe (now they just need to release some games I actually want)
