Crytek has just released a half-hour video which shows Crysis Remastered running on Switch, and has also confirmed the resolutions that the game runs at in both docked and handheld modes.
According to the developers, the game hovers around the 720p-900p mark when played docked. In handheld mode, it's hitting between 540p-720p. It was also noted that while the PS4 and Xbox One editions will have software-based ray tracing, that's not going to be present on the Switch version.
Check out the video and let us know what you think of Crysis Remastered on Switch by leaving a comment below.
Crysis Remastered launches on Switch on July 23rd.

Yeah, after seeing this stream, this is a must buy for me.
Looking like it has awesome performance!
540p in Handheld may look ok for some games with less detailed graphics (like DQ11, FF12 etc) but I think a game with such many details (much vegetation, sharp textures etc) like Crysis 540p is sadly to low
but I'll wait and see/hear impressions from other people who played the game
Potato Crysis still looks better than some first party games lmao
It looks pretty nice, to be fair. It's definitely a wait and see how it runs overall, but they're doing a good job of promoting the game.
Looking forward to this! Looks great
Say what you want about the game's performance - I'm just glad they are being transparent about everything.
Yup! Looks like I'll be getting this! (got £5 worth of gold points so might as well use them for Crysis. £22 isn't bad)
I play predominantly in handheld so 540-720p seems alright. Hoping more toward 720p.
I've played lower res games e.g Wolf 2, and got through that, so will survive this.
Seeing ports like this just make me want titles like the Tomb Raider reboot to come to Switch! The first game and Rise were on last gen, so why not this hybrid!? (I know! terrible port begging! xD)
It seems to be quite good! Looking forward to the reviews and such. It looks like Saber has done its job again.
Nice! Will buy this one for the switch!
I'm guessing that when I play this on my Lite it's going to look quite nice on the small screen. Looking like a day one buy, but I'll still wait to see one or two reviews.
The article is misrepresenting what they said in the video. They said that docked mode was 720 at 30fps and handheld 540 at 30 fps, but that the dynamic resolution COULD make it go to 900 and 720. The implication was that the game was mostly hovering around 720 and could at times go higher (docked).
@Perryg92 The article is misrepresenting what they actually said in the video, see my post above.
resolution? expected!
graphics? awesome!
Wow, I'm really getting this now.
@Dang69 fair enough! Still playable to me at 540p
I'm sure I have some titles at the same or a lower res on Switch.
Helps that I come from the n64 kid generation of sub 240p resolution games xD
I'm probably just going to wait for the PC version. Crysis is such a detailed game that really showcases the benefits of playing on better hardware in general so playing it on Switch at that low of a resolution is probably a big turn off for me.
Plus I hate playing FPS games on controllers. It just feels nicer on a mouse and keyboard
Gyro aiming makes the Switch the best platform for this game outside of the PC.
Wasn't Doom and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 also around the 540p mark in handheld? They looked very blurry, but docked they looked quite nice.
The trouble is for me 65” 4K tv these lower resolutions really start to show their age, especially with these high detailed games.
1080p Mario kart etc are ok as they are 1080p and not that detailed being more cartoon like but with good cartoon details.
Soon as you come off playing say far cry new dawn on a Pro or one x the resolution drop and movement blur seems so old and distracting. I guess for some it’s better than not having the game at all and I guess it is portable at least. I just wish Nintendo’s in house studios would give us a AAA game or two.
Obviously won't have raytracing on Switch, despite what many commentors thought.
@Perryg92 Same, the greatest game of all time Zelda OOT was 240i resolution at 20FPS, anything that equals or betters that is just fine with me. And yes youngsters that's not a typo, 240i resolution.
@MrBlacky
Those games peaked at 540p in handheld mode; a dynamic resolution meant that they could dip to as low as ~360p in handheld mode.
I will wait for Digital Foundry to do their comparisons, if it gets similar praise to Witcher 3 I will get it.
Sorry, not gonna buy a remastered game that looks tons worse than the original that I already have on PC
still cant believe this game runs on handheld
Its almost funny that we will play the remaster version at a lower resolution than the original on PC 13 years ago
@nessisonett Seriously, right? I can’t think of any examples but like oh my god seriously, so many examples probably even though I’m not listing any here.
@Perryg92 I'm from the same generation...but you gotta admit, some of Shadows of the Empire even back then was like, omg I can't see anything. Was just giving you a heads up!
@PretendWorking this site man...quarantine got me so bored I've been coming back here after a long break...and complaining....like an idiot lol
I'm happy to see some Nintendo fans with standards. But there's still too many that think 720p is acceptable. Then again 720p as pathetic as it is, is light year better than yesterday's announcements.
@psychoBrew everytime a poorly optimized game comes out there comes a "this has motion controls" so it's the best comment.
Nintendo has zero games "don't worry I have a huge backlog"
The game is twice or three times as expensive as the other consoles. "But I can take it anywhere so portable for me!"
These comments are so ridiculous I think they're bots working for Nintendo.
Yeah day-one purchase for sure, Crytek and Sabre know their stuff.
Looks great honestly, still impressed they got Crysis to look this good on a handheld. Getting this for sure.
@BAN I think it was obvious he is talking about the Xenoblades.
Cheers for Saber Interactive for making this happen. Sure it won't have the high def ray tracing of the other versions but I'm glad they manage to get all the main meat of the game for Switch. Hopefully there's a physical copy also (whether through Crytek, Limted Run Games, etc.), would pick it up day one if one is available.
@KryptoniteKrunch
On a hybrid console. 👍
@Damo shouldn't it be Crysis averted?
People on this comments section moaning it’s not as good as their £1000 PC’s!!! also people talking about ray-tracing without any knowledge of what it actually is!
Too bad they didn't fix the very old AI of the original. Could make the game quite a bit more interesting if the AI were a bit modernized. Graphics looks good, nothing to complain about there.
I'm still a bit unsure about this. They've been hype-ing this version a lot I know, and that's good to assure.
But the fact this will be the first version to arrive, well why? I expect them to release patches and updates after it arrives, knowing how they improved The Witcher 3 even more than how it was when it launched... that's just to know it is in good hands
Watching this video, and one thought comes to mind: the Outer World developers really dropped the ball.
Well, so far so good. I expected 1p at undocked.
@gopher1369 Call me crazy but I feel like some N64 games look better than some games nowadays, it's all about the art style for me, polygons/pixels don't particularly matter to me.
I’ll stick with the PS4 version; the Switch version seems underpowered and less than stellar visually. No thanks...
I'm confused as to why are people assuming 540p to be the resolution in handheld. Dynamic resolution may drop it to that for a couple of frames only, not the entire time. It's only the lowest range, not even the average. Watch the video.
I'm impressed by the work in this game. They clearly devoted quite a lot to make such a great port. It's sad how some people here don't appreciate it, even when there are ports that are far worse.
@Perryg92 The Tomb Raider reboot and Life is Strange should have been on Switch a LONG time ago. Hell, if you hack your Switch and install Android to it, you can play them now. The two mentioned above, along with Metal Gear Rising are all available on Shield TV. The Switch is just a Shield TV with no Android and an extra gig of RAM. All of the "convert from x86 to ARM" work for said games is done. It's just a matter of getting them to boot in Horizon OS vs Android and maybe editing the button icons and layout.
@the_beaver That's obvious? Then why not say that specifically?
@gopher1369 @Perryg92 It's because of that it was about putting the fun factor first. All this technical mumbo jumbo don't mean squat to me (unless it's completely unplayable. There's a difference.)
@psychoBrew I always feel like I have both my hands tied behind my back when I use gyro aiming, especially for a game where sniping and head shots are a thing. Mouse and keyboard all the way.
@Dpishere Crysis looks phenomenal on the correct hardware, yet, I have to agree with you! Some games with far lesser graphics, such as shovel knight or the messenger, look fantastic to me as well.
I'll happily play this on the Switch. Bless this little wonder of a machine ^^
This is the version that people rejected as a lazy port on every other platform and they had to pull the plug on the release 🤦♂️🙄
At least They know to release it as a budget priced game.
It Should have cross save with PC. People who want the best experience at home can just get both.
@Rodan2000 it is not as good as their $250 PS4 or X1 either.
Also, there were 100 videos on how great Luigi Mansion 3 graphics were. Can’t only matter when convenient.
540p in 2020 nice 👍
Nintendo fanboys defending this is no surprise, the facts are this looks graphically the same as the last gen.ps3/x box 360 ports not "remastered" like the ps4/xb1 ports so thats false advertising on top of that the pc version from 13 yrs ago runs on higher resolutions and at 60fps. The switch port is 30fps. Let me guess fanboys will say oh but its portable! Thats just a lazy copout at this point all that sabre have done is chop the fps snd resolution and call it a day and that deserves praise? Pathetic how fanboys are easily pleased,, cant wait for digitsl foundry to rip this to shreds.
@DoktorTotenKopf someone with some common sense bravo sir
If the Switch version reviews decently well, I will be getting this. Switch has been lacking a "vaguely realistic" FPS for a long time.
Also anyone remember when playing this game meant you needed a 2000 dollar high end gaming desktop - and even some of those struggled?
@Tonyo Aye- I’m gravely disappointed with this, not gonna lie.
@Tonyo
Feel free to call me whatever you want. You're only making yourself look bad by running around, throwing insults towards people who are simply giving their opinions.
If you want a fact, I'll give you one. Some people enjoy portable gameplay and yes, while it objectively sacrifices the quality of the game, it's still playable.
@Perryg92
Lol Well it's not like it's someone's 1st patty material you're asking for. Wanting a 3rd party, non exclusive on a system is no crime or something to be ashamed of after all. If it was, then virtually all of us would (or will) be guilty of it at some point.
@DoktorTotenKopf me too, watch the youtube comparison between switch and ps4, night and day difference, watch the last gen ports which are 720p they look extremely similar to the switch version. Pathetic but everyones loves this?
@NathanTheAsian "its still playable" = im happy with anything im easy to please because its nintendo and i cannot criticize as im a fanboy
@gopher1369 Agree, it's 240p you played it in though lol.
@Tonyo A YT video at 720p is not exactly a good comparison, regardless Switch does look to have upgrades - the PS3 version run at 540p/600p max.
Also the Switch is much closer to PS3/360 than the PS4 so you have to reign those expectations.
Crysis isn't a tiny corridor, no physics shooter like Doom... Crysis is loaded to the hilt with dense environmental destruction, massive sandboxes, explosions and you have a performance hungry setup.
@Tonyo
If you weren't aware, not everyone has the same standards. Just because people like this port, it doesn't mean you have to be toxic around them because they don't have the same opinion as you.
@DoktorTotenKopf If you're just buying this game to look at then you're obviously don't want the Switch version. For us we're buying it to play, not to look.
I’ve skimmed through this comment chain. Some people are just hilarious... Some ripping others because they think it’s a terrible port. Some getting excited like this a major 2020 type of Switch release, when it’s ancient.
To each their own, I’m not going to rip either side of how people feel, but it is amusing since this is an ancient old game. I can admit, even I have gotten “hype-burned” from some old ports JUST because I could add another game to my big Switch library. Sometimes I feel like almost any game at all that was popular whether it was 13-15yrs ago that is ported to Switch tons of people go nuts like it’s a modern AAA release of excitement, while others rip people to bits for getting excited over it having (most people) already played whatever game years ago on 360 or PS3.
@NathanTheAsian The poor fella has no understanding of the difference between a corridor and a sandbox game. It is beyond comprehension why anyone would ever think Crysis would look close to PS4/Xbox One? That's just insane.
This looks like an incredible port, Crysis in Switch looks spectacular. In 2007 I played this on an 8800GTX at 720p 20-30fps medium/high/v high settings. Bought again on PS3 - 540/600p 10-20fps.
Looking forward to this version.
@Agramonte I'm impressed by your ability to completely miss @Rodan2000 's point. I'm also guessing that you also have no idea what truly makes Crysis or Luigi's Mansion, or any other game for that matter, look so good. And when you say that the PS4 is $250, that simply isn't true, and I have no doubt that you know it isn't true and are insisting upon saying it anyway. Why you insist upon what you know isn't true I have yet fathom a reason for.
@Tonyo You better hope Digital Foundry doesn't do an analysis of your copy editing.
@retro_player_77 really sad reply do you have any standards?
@JimmySpades thats a great reply ur so smart!
@liveswired i never said it should look like the current gen ones i said it does not look remastered at all and looks extremely similar to the last gen ports get ur facts straight
@Tonyo Knowing how Digital Foundry do things and the fact they know more then a boy like you i expect they will praise this more then "tear it to shreds", if i remember i will go back to this comment when DF prove me right. Fact is the fact Crysis is on Switch and can be played portable is rather impressive, if you're expecting PS4 level performance then quite frankly you're rather naive. Before you start calling me a fanboy i will just state i have no interest in the game and prefer the sequels and if i was to get it what i won't it would be the PS4 version.
@sixrings If resolution is all that matters to you, that's fine. I just think FPS games on dual analog controllers without gyro aiming are boring. A control system that requires a crutch like auto aim takes the fun out it. I am obviously not the only person who thinks this way so for me, I will get FPSs on PC or Switch.
@WallyWest 13 year old game is impressive lol ok pal, see you after the DF verdict. Btw its not remastered and i never expected ps4 level graphics but this is lazy
@TG16_IS_BAE If you have your gyro settings set up correctly, you get used to it. I have no problem get head shots using gyro aiming in Sniper 3 with the the 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro Plus. Having said that, I think the Sn30 Pro Plus might have better gyro sensors than the Pro Controller or Joycons so that would help, but I haven't tried Sniper 3 with Nintendo controllers so I have not compared them directly (which is why I say might have).
@liveswired
I'm glad you get the point. This is something I'm looking forward to trying out when I get the chance.
@CTmatic switch exclusive owners are simply happy to get old games and indies. This the legacy of the switch as far as library is concerned when we look back at this console. Sold great, got Nintendo back in the game, but as far as library goes,lots of quantity, not so much quality. Wii U will have had a better Exclusive library than switch when it was all said and done.
If it runs as good as Doom, then it is totally worth it.
@liveswired I definitely didn't. The N64 didn't support progressive scan output, it was 320x240 interlaced on a 14" CRT TV via an RF cable.
@Slowdive Oh yeah, absolutely, I once hooked my Wii up to a 50" 4K TV to give Xenoblade a try and it was horrible. I didn't try it twice!
looks great, i need something to stop me from playing Bulletstorm for the tenth time....no i don't it's frickig awesome!
This looks smooth and I’m interested for sure. Wolf2, Doom, Metro games, Alien Isolation all very playable and I really enjoyed them - mainly docked but also a little handheld when needed. Hopefully this is more of the same. Let’s not knock it before we actually get our hands on it!
@gopher1369 if you’re going to play 480p games on a massive TV you need an mClassic. For cartoony stylistic games like Mario Galaxy / Sunshine it works wonders. Not sure how it’d fare for Xenonlade though.
@Dpishere oh yeh you are definitely crazy. Just like me. Some N64 games either on appropriate sized CRT or with Super64+mClassic look beautiful and always will.
@JimmySpades I was thinking it's gone a bit IGN/school holidays in the comment sections...console warriors and pixel crybabies out in force!
I have no real interest in this game as it's yet another bobbing gun number...but wow there's some angry people in here. I wish my life was so blessed that the only thing I had to get mad about/cry about was the amount of pixels on a screen.
@Tonyo Hmmm let's have a look.
PS4: big meaty console, designed to sit under your TV, fans to cool the thing down, built for performance.
Switch: hybrid performance, dockable handheld designed to either sit under the TV or played on the go without melting in your hands, could you get PS4 performance out of something the size of the Switch? I saw you mention Digital Foundry, let's see what they say: https://youtu.be/nqj6i8bWUb4
Saying the PS4 version will look better is a bit like saying water is wet. And I also wouldn't act shocked if people here are a bit enthusiastic about Nintendo there's a clue in the name of the site. It'd be like being shocked that there's christians in a church.
@WiltonRoots again read my msg i never said i expected it to look like ps4 however i did expect a visual improvement over the last gen ports, too much to ask according to you right? now off you go to do some more bootlicking
@gopher1369
Very well said, games used to be about playability and enjoyment, not numbers of pixels and frames.
Most people cannot tell hence the reliance on a developer saying the resolution and frame rate. If they all lied and said 60fps and 1080p most of the obsessives would be happy and not whine!
I only ever notice if a game suddenly dips in performance, a stable 30fps is much preferable.... After all the best FPS ever ran at practically 1/2 that (bring back Goldeneye on a Switch VC for N64!)
@Tonyo No bootlicking here son, just simple logic any adult can get their head around. But hey carry on console warring if you want.
@Tonyo
Why do you feel the need to insult every person who has a different opinion than you? It is unpleasant and uncalled for.
If you think you don't do this, then look at your comments you submitted under your profile. Please be a nicer person
@Menchi
I know that you're certainly trying to make a point, but seriously lol. How many actual commenters HERE (or people in general after about 4 years of seeing Switch hardware in the wild) can you point to that honestly expected ray tracing bruv? I definitely lurk & peruse around here quite a bit & never saw any of that personally. I feel that I can say with a high level of confidence that there's not even close to anything resembling even a healthy gathering of people here clamoring for or realistically thinking of any ray tracing involved with the Nintendo Switch version of this game.
@WiltonRoots you didnt even answer what i stated proving i was correct and you jumped to conclusions. Enjoy ur gimped ps3 version of crysis on switch happy for you! Lol
@FredTheCat people attacked me first look at my first post, i only called out the defensive fanboys who are in denial that this port looks trash, i didnt attack the overall people that will enjoy this game and im happy for them.
@CTmatic
There's some irony in there if you look closely LOL
That handheld resolution sucks. I am tired of ports that blurry games on handheld mode. Witcher 3 is just unplayable in handheld (even with the update). A good port should reduce detail quality in order to reduce blurryness and increase sharpness. YS has many ups and downs, but when it goes all blurry it damages the gaming experience. Oninaki is just contantly blurry.
These ports that have priorized detail over "non blurryness" feel like playing a 3DS in an HD screen. And yeah, if a couple years ago we were only able play games in a blurry non HD 3ds screen then it's an improvement, and games are still fun and playable.... But come on, reducing detail in order to not "hurt" are eyes should be mandatory for ports.
Bulletstorm for example simply looks amazing on handheld.
@Tonyo To quote myself from post #97:
"I have no real interest in this game as it's yet another bobbing gun number..."
I popped my head in as I was curious to see how they managed to cram the game into a unit that wasn't supposed to be able to play it. I come to the comments and I see console wars. There does seem to be a lot of tension in every single one of your posts, are you okay? Want a hug or something? Ever considered going outside?
@kalosn
Well honestly it may just be because they feel thar they've wrung out about as much juice out of the Switch version that they could without putting more money in that han might not make it worth it to them. Whether that's bigger cartridges used or paying developers to go through every nook & cranny to see what else they can do, they're still cost with try to do more.
Pretty much any gamer or remotely in the loop person knows that the other systems are beefier. Which I'm pretty sure gives them a good amount more room for overhead Improvement & tweaks. Also being quite similar in architecture , it's gotta be much more efficient & worth trying to wring out more given that it bodes well for these two systems that they know in and out. While there could certainly be patches needed, potential bugs or whatever, we're dealing with that from AAA releases that aren't coming from some port heroes anyway. Just look at some of the funky crap that was going on with days gone for instance.
I'm pretty sure that it's not something too nefarious, just that the version on the little machine that could is doing about all that it can do with what they're willing to invest. So honestly, if the end result is pretty good, I may actually wind up getting it on the Switch myself. As it'll certainly have an uphill battle with so many other games that I may play or let grab my attention otherwise. That is unless it maybe ahowed up in like one of the "free games" list lol.
@beazlen1 I've seen a couple reviews for the mclassic, it does look really good. I wouldn't use it enough myself but it's an impressive bit of tech. (I moved my Wii back to my bedroom, 32" 1080p TV there and Wii games look fine in it)
@Agramonte
Seriously are you not the sharpest?
Are you still struggling to realise that Switch is not as powerful as the other consoles and you have to base your expectations accordingly?
Crysis is looking pretty good for the Switch. Luigi's Mansion 3 does look great graphically on the Switch but if it were on PS4 it would look better, same with Paper Mario or Breath of the Wild, but of course they will never be on PS4 as they are exclusive to the Switch.
Why do you struggle to understand these things?
@Tonyo
"cant wait for digitsl foundry to rip this to shreds."
Digital Foundry have the intelligence to realise the limitations of the console the game is on when considering the performance of said game, something you are clearly lacking.
@Tonyo
Sorry to call you out, but you've been rude to people ever since you joined (your second posting was to insult someone who liked a game you didn't), hence why I suggested you look back at your behaviour. The vast majority of your 62 posts have not been in response to anyone else being rude to you, but you seem to take pleasure in resorting to insulting anyone who has a different opinion. You are just coming across as a thoroughly unpleasant troll, I'm hoping this is not the type of person who you really are. After all Australians are supposed to be the nicest of nations.
@Dezzy70
Hmmm, that might be more of a speak for yourself type of thing. I've been playing on 4K tv's before it was cool or close to being common. I also have all three consoles (ps4, XB1X & of course Switch). And I've never had any real problem going back and forth. Is there a difference, sure it is. Anyone even pretending that there isn't would be disingenuous.
Is it like oh my God, my eyes are going to melt & I can actually see the glitch in the matrix? No, not even close. It's not like we're going all the way back to ps1 or a Saturn lol. Heck, we honestly haven't had any truly "ugly" games since the ps1, maaaaaaybe early ps2 (if we're being a lil bougie lol) era. We have it pretty good as game of these days my friend & I think that we just get really spoiled at times.
Let's not forget about the game Life Of Black Tiger prowling the ps4. Even 20k would polish up or make turd games better. I certainly understand preference & the "to each their own" sentiment, but considering that I meet & have exceeded the criteria that you mentioned in your example I can attest that it's not that jarring lol.
@gopher1369 with an RGB cable I hope
@ss213 have you played Superman64? That game is basically unplayable. Switcher is far from unplayable in handheld. If it was unplayable how come I 've spent hundreds of very enjoyable hours with it in handheld? Am I like some super gamer that can play the most unplayable games whereas normal human folk cannot?! I don't think so.
@Tonyo 13 year old game what even now holds up and back in the day was near impossible to play without a top of the range gaming PC, there's a reason the "can it play Crysis" become a meme.
@Tonyo
No, you have false memories of how Xbox 360/PS3 games looked like. And Crysis on 360 had average framerate in action around 24 fps, PS3 around 20 fps. With far less physics than the Switch version and no dynamic lightning.
Anyways, we all who bought Switch knows its performance wont match PS4, I dont understand why folk still points it out every time that its graphics wont match a PC or PS4. Its known its a 11watt handheld, not a high-end PC, so we are very informed already that it performs somewhere in between 360/PS3 and PS4/One, which I think this Crysis remaster points out very well.
@beazlen1 better: Component
@beazlen1 I said that if a couple years ago we were ok with playing 3ds games (and we could enjoy them), then playing 3ds graphics on an HD screen is an improvement and we can also enjoy them.
That said, you could still play mario land on an old game boy (with no screen light) and still enjoy the game. However, if Nintendo launched a new handheld with game boy graphics and a screen with no light, people would call it unplayable (in this day and age).
Graphically detailed games are not design to be viewed blurry. Part of the deitaled graphics are made to contribute to the inmmersive experience. Keeping details but making them blurry goes against the reason for which "details" were included in the original game, making them counter productive to the point of damaging the experience.
Yeah, you could argue that everything is playable independently of the image quality as long as there is no lag, but when you have become used to a minimum quality, than everything below that qualifies as unplayable.
Have you tried going back to watch movies on a 480i TV?? Yeah you can, but independently of the quality of the content of movie you could argue that under that quality they are unwachable (like 360p videos on youtube).
@gopher1369 yes good that's what I meant. Enjoy!
@mariomaster96 Going to let you know!
I won't watch the gameplay, since I want to be surprised. Already got it preloaded on my Switch, I can barely wait now! This is the longest week of the month!
@ss213 yeah ok I get your point and it's very valid. I referenced Superman64 because that game is essentially broken and is as close to unplayable as you can get without a power cut. I just don't agree with the hyperbole of Switcher being "unplayable" when I've enjoyed so many hours with it and will continue to do so. Maybe if I played it on another console then I wouldn't want to go back to Switch but I wouldn't falsely label it as unplayable. Sabre Interactive did a great job getting such a vast expansive game running so well on essentially mobile tech and I respect them for it.
Given all the switch hardware limitations, Crytek has made an amazing job on this port so far, looks amazing and the portability of the handheld mode compensates any graphical downgrade. I'm not a FPS fan, but am thinking on giving it a chance when it's out.
@TheFullAndy I am not struggling to understand anything. What people are struggling to understand is that when the Switch can't meet expectations some do not just accept it.
And they comment, I will wait to play it on whatever else they have or they do not want to pay it like that at all. That should not come as a surprise to anyone reading comments anymore.
@Agramonte
What was your comment regarding Luigi's Mansion 3 about then?
@beazlen1 I get your point, and yeah, as I said, as long as there no gameplay lag anything can be played / enjoyed if you are willing to deal with. However I disagree on your las point. For me a propper port would have meant cutting down details in order to avoid the blurryness. I bought the witcher full price, and after a while playing on handeld I had to stop because the blurryness was bothering my eyes and giving me a headache. Later they released the patch with the sharpness fix but it still didnt fix enogh the issue. Which means that for me the game is unplayable on handheld. And regarding SI port, I can not applaude them because they prioritized details over non blurryness, which is a bad aproach as I explained before. You enjoyed the game because it is a good game, but without blurryness you would have probably enjoyed it more, which means that SI made a bad decision when prioritizing details. What is the point of keeping details if they are blurry??
The problem is that many games are doing the same, and is not something we should support. Or at least that is how I feel about it (taking into account my own experience).
NL could make a poll to see if we users prefer detail o non blurryness and that would be the best conclusion (I guess)
@Edu23XWiiU thx, but digital foundry already released their video on the game, appearently it looks very good in handheld mode
@JimmySpades In Holiday 2019 it was $250,... tons of people have bought it at that price (even less for an X1). And Whatever it is now with corona, 300, 350... does not change my point that people not comparing this to a 1,000 PC. Tons of gaming PC are not even 1K. Not sure why you did not go price police on that.
And I have said it already,.. this is 27 bucks. So for a Switch budget game it is fine. But if anyone says it is not good enough, I do not lie with the "does not matter" company line BS. Because when the Switch actually does something that looks decent, everyone notices it.
@Agramonte
Whatever point you are trying to make you are failing spectacularly.
@mariomaster96 Yeah it seems to struggle in a couple of places, but overall they loved it. Even if the game is not for me it's always fascinating to see what they can try and squeeze out of the console.
@TheFullAndy Because LM3 met people's expectations on what a game should look like. And commented on how great it looked. Same way people loved Bayo2 hit 60fps - it met an "expectation" and tons of comments on how happy they were. It cant be surprising when people come out and comment that another game on switch does not meet those expectations.
It was an example that it is the same thing, just in reverse. It cant be valid one way but yet invalid the other when not convenient.
PS4/X1 and PC owners already said they were not satisfied with this. Switch owners can do the same.
"Whatever point you are trying to make you are failing spectacularly"
So move on. Not sure why people keep treating public comment sections as personal chats directed at them 🙄
@Agramonte
Actually Luigi's Mansion looked much better than people thought hence they were impressed. No one is impressed at what is expected.
Are you saying people were expecting Crysis on Switch to run as well as on PC and the like?
Again I really don't understand the point you are making.
Edit:
"So move on. Not sure why people keep treating public comment sections as personal chats directed at them 🙄"
Then practice what you preach and don't reply to others whilst misunderstanding what they say (Rodan2000)
Game looks great on Switch. Only severe graphic will complain, and they probably dont own Switch anyway.
@Slowdive:
The analysis is online on youtube now...
@Tonyo
OK numpty, tell me where in the Digital Foundry video this occurred:
"cant wait for digitsl foundry to rip this to shreds."
@Savino It's actually 900p docked with 720p handheld. Dynamic resolution just means when under very hectic situations it can dip to 540p on handheld (720p when docked).
Check out Digital Foundry's review. They basically said the game has been smartly optimized and will even receieve patches to further its performance.
@Tonyo "Underpowered junk"? The fact that the Crysis Switch runs AND looks BETTER than the PS3 version (with the Switch version having SVOGI and gyro aiming, and much more consistent framerate) is a testament to how capable the little device is!
Crysis on a handheld running better than its last gen console ports is by no means a small feat.
@Ravenmaster Much like The Witcher 3, I have it on PC but I'm getting this Switch port Day 1. I hope Saber Interactive pulls a Witcher 3 patch and also adds cross-platform save when it comes to PC.
@gameboy1975
Oh yeah... maybe the other systems are beefier, I hear that a lot (maybe more than it should), but the specs don't really tell me much more than they should, and they're actually quite similar when you develop on it and master the console.
Besides, I really want to see gameplay of this game in handheld mode, that's where this will definitely impress, considering this is the first time Crysis will be playable on a handheld, something that the community thought it was impossible before (well, except on a Notebook). And with Days Gone, that was an high-end Unreal Engine 4 open-world with a focus on zombie hordes, so even with first-party masterclass there were some performance issues, but they were also kinda solved with patches, right? The concept of zombie hordes is also on the World War Z game by the way, which is coming to Switch in the hands of Saber Interactive too. I also have another guess, they gained an "affinity" to the Switch after their previous project there and decided to master this version as a nice treat.
That said, for better performance, I think these guys will utilise overclocking to make the game the best they can too, even if that affects battery life, it will be worth it I think...
I also know they're targeting PS4 and Xbox One too, but really, I don't expect them to be too mind-blowing in their own senses compared to the Switch. I mean, it will be more shocking to see Crysis running on a handheld than on consoles whose predecessors also had Crysis (though it was very different than the PC version). What I think are the main focus for the developer, are the PC and maybe next-generation consoles versions, as they apparently want to implement Ray Tracing on these versions.
Digital Foundry really liked it. “A dramatic improvement over the PS3 and 360 versions in most areas.” Good to know. Looks very good for a Handheld game that’s for sure.
@mariomaster96 then get it man!
@Tonyo Are you in loser denial? The DF video literally ends by saying "Without a doubt its the best console release of a Crysis game todate" @ 23:30. You were so dead set on DF tearing down the Switch version to prove all these "Nintendo losers" wrong that you can't cope with the reality of being proven factually wrong? Like, grow up and learn some humility, are you so incapable of apologizing or admitting you were incorrect? Instead you have to lean into your bias and cherry pick the few instances where the Switch version is a step back while ignoring the avalanche of improvements the Switch version has over the last gen ports. At this point you'll probably counter by saying that your whole thesis was that this doesn't deserve to be called a remaster since its just a port of what we had last gen but as was highlighted by DF this version does in fact have many numerous improvements compared to the PS3/360 versions, so guess what? Its a remaster. Does it look as good as the PC version running on modern hardware? No, but keep in mind Crysis did not look or run this well on PC when it first launched 13 years ago because it was a beast. Try actually watching the video and trusting the experts rather than trying to twist the narrative when things don't go your way. Objectively speaking, DF says this is a better console version... its a better version!
Yeah, DF liked the Switch version. So much for DF "tearing the Switch version apart".
Boy, the naysayers sure do have egg on their faces now. 😁
@KryptoniteKrunch nope you do pal, DF are known to be bias toward switch and are huge lovers of crysis 1 so nope your still wrong buddy. Enjoy ur crappy port
@Tonyo
Don't hurt your back moving those goalposts.
DF actually isn't biased towards Switch. They didn't have kind words for Outer Worlds or deadly Premonition 2.
@KryptoniteKrunch dude your a joke, look at the comments on the DF video many people say this port is terrible but its just me huh i must be a hater! Your just a typical nintendo fanboy defending like they always do
@Tonyo Just give up, dude. You gambled on this being a bad port and you were wrong. We all make mistakes and terrible predictions from time to time. Just learn from it and try not to be such an insufferable troll next time rather than trying to convince the world that grass is purple.
@Tonyo Btw, looked at some comments on the youtube page, most are praising it. 7.9k likes to 183 dislikes at the time of posting this in a video that concludes "this is the best console version yet (until PS4 and Xbox one versions come out soon)"
What you're essentially arguing is "1000 people liked it but I found one person who agrees with my point, therefore I am correct". Congrats, you've proven you're an idiot! You win at internet!
@Chowdaire nope your a pathetic nintendo fanboy how does it feel giving nintendo a pass because you feel obliged to defend them you loser!
@Tonyo Sorry I have to ask, do you talk to people like this in real life? Do you talk like this on these subjects around girls, colleagues, friends? Or do you only communicate with people via internet/voice chat? Also how old are you?
@Tonyo I said i would come back after DF's take and guess what they thought it was a good port and would recommend it, it has its faults yes but overall its an awesome way to play the game. I wonder if you will reply to this now.
@WallyWest He's got to be on the verge of a ban soon so who knows...this isn't IGN or /v/ - normally they have better discourse around these parts.
@Chowdaire I think he thinks "fanboy" is supposed to be an insult.
@Tonyo
Why are you here? Seriously?
Get a life you sad pathetic little person.
Well I see it is after 8pm in Australia so his mother has probably taken his phone/tablet off him and marched him up to bed.
@Tonyo Nice try. I have a ps4 pro a custom gaming PC and gaming laptop, but no, I'm just a nintendo fanboy. I'm going to guess you're a kid at this point because it would be extremely sad and pathetic if an adult was behaving in such a juvenile way.
Can anyone confirm if it looks sharp and crisp on handheld?? Or does it look blurry like witcher 3 (even with the sharp option enabled)??
I trully would love it to run like Bulletstorm (if it does I am purchasing it right away), but the specified resolutions did not seem to make it possible.
@Chowdaire he’s probably about 35. Has no concept of eye contact.
@Tonyo
For the record, the majority of the people here are disagreeing with you, including me. Going around being toxic like that doesn't help your case and it certainly doesn't make you look good at all.
