Nintendo's amiibo line is still alive and well - with game director Masahiro Sakurai not long ago revealing two new characters would be added to the Super Smash Bros. line: Joker and Hero.
They are arriving in Europe, Japan and Australia next month, and in North America on 2nd October. As you'd expect they're already in production according to the CPSIA page on the Nintendo Americas support site. One other interesting discovery, though, is that there'll likely be reprints of the Mipha and Revali amiibo from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild line.
If Mipha and Revali are receiving a reprint, Urbosa and Daruk are expected to follow - although there's no sign of this just yet. Will you be adding any more Zelda amiibos to your collection? Tell us down below.

Just those two?
I’ll be getting these!
Prepping for BotW sequel?
The two that matter~

I really like Amiibo. I've been rather bummed Nintendo is moving on from them.
And I can't believe Pokemon never got in on that game. It would have been like the old e-reader Pokemon cards - but actually GOOD
@Heavyarms55 Oh they moved on from them?
Was wondering why not so much was happening.
@Heavyarms55 Pokemon has far to many characters to make. It seems like Nintendo can't keep up with the characters they currently have.
I really wish they'd manufacture the Samus Returns amiibos again.
Can we talk about the fact that Revali is just an alternate universe Falco?
@graysoncharles Would be cool to see some new Zelda characters in Smash.
@Heavyarms55 Would have been cool to see Pokémon cards that could be used as Amiibo. (like the Animal Crossing cards, or Shadow Mewtwo for Pokkén Tournament) But I think even to them that would have been too much of a cashgrab.
These are so beautiful. I got the initial set of five amiibo which came with the launch of BoTW but never bothered with the four champion ones. I wish I had got them. Same as the pair of Samus Returns ones.
@graysoncharles would be so dope
Hmm, I smell botw 2. Remember that the Revali actor revealed he did stuff for botw 2? And remember that botw ended with Zelda's line: Something is miss with Vah Ruta? That may be the cataclyst for the new adventure, who knows!
I really do not understand why Nintendo don’t do this. Do they not like money? BotW amiibo sells for 2 to 3 times the original purchase price on EBay in the UK, the demand is there. The popular amiibo all sells well above rrp too, why would you not take advantage of that?
@Goat_FromBOTW Who’s to say it’s not just the same universe and a different artist’s impression? Killing off Falco Lombardi would only be a problem if they were actually planning on making another Star Fox game.
I noticed the entire line is all of a sudden in stock again here in Japan too.
I just bought the set when is first became available as I knew they would soon disappear. I wonder though if this restock is because of botw2
Honestly, I feel that if Satoru Iwata was still around, we would have seen a LOT more done with amiibo but Nintendo feels a bit more "corporate" now and a lot of that fun and flare has fallen by the wayside. It became even more noticeable once Reggie left as well. Nintendo Directs have gotten more and more sparse, engagement with the fans has become much less noticeable and overall, that magic during Iwata's run as president has just kinda gone away. Nintendo is still a good company but everything feels a bit more sterile and straight businesslike in recent years (much more like when Hiroshi Yamauchi ran the company). Outside of the remaining Smash amiibo (and the upcoming DLC characters), I'd be surprised to see the line get carried on. Still holding out hope for a small comeback for something like BoTW 2 though. Sad as there was a lot of potential in the toys.
Not a chance they pass up the opportunity to sell Prince Sidon amiibo. Which means he’s in the sequel for sure.
I would love those in smashbros.
Or make them as one and with down B you swap them like Pokemon trainer.
So you have four characters in one.
And name their slot as Champions.
Lol would be cool tho.
Day 2 of waiting for the rumoured and possibly leaked August Direct
I'm still bummed they didn't make amiibos for any Xenoblade game.
I will never forget going to the Nintendo New York store and seeing so much great merchandise including a rack of all four champions amiibo. I knew if I came home with four new amiibo my wife would not be happy. So, a hard choice but I got Mipha, and I am happy that I did.
I agree with other posts, amiibo are great. Well made physical reminders of great games.
@Discostew My thoughts exactly!
I stopped collecting when they increased the price. Sometimes I'm sad I didn't keep buying but more often then not I'm happy I stopped wasting money.
Im about 5 rares off a full set
What is a Zelda?
Anorher proof that BOTW2 is coming this november, nothing big is announced for this holiday from nintendo.
Please restock both corrin amiibos also while your at it. Not paying €100 plus online to complete a set 😢😢
Smash Ultimate should have included more bad guys from each represented series.
Wart and Mouser
Goomba, Koopa Troopa variations, Boos.
Molblins, Octoroks,
Mplus many others, just too tired to list.
Some should be like Pokemon Trainer. Main bad guy with Rotating villain of choice
Ok, well, I have two things
A. Joker is an amiibo. I'm hyped, as you can imagine (my pfp is Joker)
B. Okay, cool. No intention of buying, but nice for collectors, I guess.
@Tourtus they have nearly all the AC characters as amiibo cards, so they theoretically could do it. In practice, no.
I already have these two, plus the other two Champions.
I wish they reprint Callie and Marie, those are the only Splatoon ones I'm missing, and they're pretty expensive currently.
Good, that suggest that the whole line of botw amiibos will return. I just missed the 2 links. Ill be ready this time.
Come on, i need the Twilight princess amiibo?!
@MeowMeowKins Oh they could probably make them as cards for sure. I thought you meant figurines.
I haven't bought a single Amiibo, but after finally playing BOTW earlier this year, I will not miss out on scooping up a Revali in October! Revali is <3
@sanderev
Wow, this is a great idea! I would begin buying up TCG cards if they were compatible as Amiibo's, or even AR cards. More cross compatibility would help build up the whole Nintendo ecosystem.
@munstahunta
I honestly will be worried about BOTW2's quality if it's released as soon as this year, relatively speaking. It's pretty clear to me that Aonuma wanted more time to work on the game, so it would probably release with less polish than BOTW if it's pushed out this year.
@Tourtus Oh, they most certainly can not. That would just be a waste.
@Tourtus Cards, like Animal Crossing did.
@Yanina Well I don't know that they have for sure, but it really seems like they have. They haven't talked about them or used them in an significant way for a long time.
Uhh......I guess having a Tweet of Mario and reprints of Zelda amiibo are really big news...
@Heavyarms55 I see! Sad that they start so much good things and abandon them eventually. Lets hope the Switch concept (including the same cloud) stays for a few generations.
@Yanina Don't take my word as gospel or anything, it just seems to be the case. To my knowledge there's not been anything official one way or another.
@Heavyarms55 Don't worry! But after thinking about it, I agree with you.
I do miss the days of "calling in sick" to go stand out in freezing temperatures, and hoping I was in line early enough to get the Best Buy Meta Knight exclusive, because a cousin of a friend who's uncle works at Best Buy said they were only getting 6. haha. I think Mega Yawn Yoshi was the last amiibo where there was actually a long line for. Since then they've pretty much been super easy to get online. I love the ease of it now, but I do miss those days.
The Champions amiibos were the most pointless ones to be added to the game. Each one unlocked a helm that gave you the exact same abilities that the Gerudo headbands gave you (heat resistance, cold resistance, lightning resistance, swim speed increase). They didn’t even combine abilities with the matching ancient armour components. Such a missed opportunity.
I wound if BotW-2 could be Big N's answer to the next gen consoles dropping over the holidays. It could be a good strategy to hold back until the final drop dates and prices are announced and only then announce holiday date for BOTW-2 to get back some news cycles
