Update (Mon 17th Aug, 2020 16:45 BST): Since being reported on by a number of news outlets over the last 24 hours, the Amazon listing for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Switch has now been removed from Amazon.
Was it a mistake? Was the listing put up too early in error? Time will tell.
Original Article (Sun 16th Aug, 2020 16:45 BST): Following on from an Amazon UK listing for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered yesterday, a page for a Switch version of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has now been discovered.
Although there's no launch date on display in the image below, in the description underneath this section of the listing there appears to be a placeholder release date of "1 Jan. 2030" - you can also apparently pre-order the game for £69.99.
Surprisingly, this isn't the first time we've heard about Skyward Sword taking flight on the Switch. Back in November 2018, there was a rumour about it, and not long after this, a Nintendo representative shot it down.
As pointed out by Nintendo Life contributor, Chris Scullion, next year is The Legend of Zelda's 35th anniversary. Earlier this week trademarks supposedly tied to the Zelda series also appeared online.
Would you like to see Skyward Sword make a return flight on the Switch? Tell us down below.

It's common knowledge that linearity is the main aspect of the Zelda series that people love the most. That and a motion controlled sword.
I enjoy this site but please stop with these stupid articles grasping at every mistake/fake listing you find. It's extremely poor journalism and it gets old fast.
Well that’s cool! I’d like to see a few other games ported over before this one... ahem, Metroid Prime Trilogy, yeah I said it, but I’d absolutely get this if and when it comes. I never got very far in the original (Only off the first island/main area) so it’s a Zelda game I’d like to cross off my list.
EDIT: @SpacedDuck but you didn’t even answer NL’s question... would you want to see this game come to Switch? Nobody likes it when someone dodges questions. Just sayin’.
Broke: Nintendo Direct
Woke: Let Amazon tell you the rest of our first party lineup it'll be great and all of it will 100% come true lol
@SpacedDuck Someone's a grumpy gus.
The rumour was probably true the first time it surfaced. Of course, now that's it leaked again, Nintendo will probably hold on to it for another 2 years
Would make most sense for 2021 - series anniversary and this title’s 10-year too
If this is true I’d like to see a Fi that doesn’t bother you as much and more content in the skies.
If only this supported Labo VR with motion controls...
Please, stop with all these ports. I bought a Nintendo Switch to finally play new, awesome, non-casual games from Nintendo, and not to play the old ones again. I know that Nintendo is in the moment in a very terrible place because of the pandemic, and I can understand that, but it is really sad to see, that such an awesome console like the Switch has just become a porting machine.
@SpacedDuck eh gives us something to talk about.
Stop clicking on them.
I literally can't take any of these seriously anymore after all of the fluke listings we've had over the past 2 or so years
I just don't see how it can work unless it is being bundled with a Switch version of the wii mote (maybe that explains the high price).
I would welcome it mind, that art style in HD would be gorgeous.
A chance to play Skyward Sword in 1080p/60fps would be nice. If they fixed a few minor issues and made some QoL changes similar to the other HD ports it'd make for a great experience.
I predicted this a few days ago, so it can't be true.
I would be interested if and only if they revamped the game to not require motion controls. I don't have a problem with motion controls themselves just not something I want to do with a Zelda game personally
Obviously this game will sell well and all, but it's the only main Zelda I haven't bothered to finish. I've been watching a walkthrough recently and I think a lot of the game falls flat. The humor is boring, the motion controls don't add enough to make it fun (I even preferred the simple motion controls on TwiPri), and generally I think the presentation/graphics fall short. The formula definitely needed the mix-up that was BOTW. Maybe I should try playing it again versus watching the walkthrough? I dunno.
@gcunit you are now a reliable leaker I will believe everything you ever say with no doubt ever.
I would love Skyward Sword being on the switch it would be a great way to show the new Zelda fans what 3D Zelda was like pre-BOTW
If this is true, it is a complete waste of a release. They've completely pivoted the Zelda formula away from what Skyward Sword was aiming for, and no one was asking for this.
They would be better off releasing Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD again, would cost them less, and they are games people actually want to play.
How do listings like this get made and who makes them? Hard to know how seriously to take these sorts of things without knowing that much. I'm gonna just guess that someone's trolling or something until proven otherwise.
100% agree. Would also cut or overhaul one of the fights with The Imprisoned. It’s too lame of a boss fight to warrant repeating the experience. The second round with him would be ideal for overhaul.
"According to Amazon"
....well so much for that.
@MaxiPareja "no one was asking for this"
You don't speak for everyone. I know plenty of people who would be very interested in a Skyward Sword re-release.
How about a Double Cartridge pack with both Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword?
Easy 60$ from me as I have not played those!
@MaxiPareja It'll still sell though. But I agree with your points. They'd really have to upgrade the visuals and figure out how to simplify the motion controls to make this thing work. I'm not sure people want to use the joycons for this game. Maybe holding button combinations mixed with tilting the controller can simulate WiiMotion Plus in some way? Even so, is that a direction that needs to even happen? If they do this, my guess is that they just simplify the enemy design and remove a lot of the motion required stuff.
@SpacedDuck There’s no harm in reporting on rumors. It’s arguably BETTER journalism to report the rumor, because if the rumor turns out to be true you don’t have to scramble to be first, which is important for sites like this. If it turns out to be false, well that’s not the fault of NL, unless they started the rumor of course.
Personally I would have liked to have seen Wind Waker, that was really the last good 3D Zelda.
I always loved the artwork style in SS more than TP. I’ve also never played skyward sword so that would be a great thing to have!
It would appear that tensions are high. Regardless, I loved Skyward Sword and would totally be down for a remake. I'm old and get more excited for ports and remakes than actual new games haha
It would seem really random, but the atmosphere and controls would go great on the console. It wasn’t my favorite Zelda, but it truly was an awesome game and I’d play it on the switch in a heartbeat.
@SpacedDuck dude take a a chill pill. They’re just informing us about things happening gaming-wise, which is what news articles are supposed to do.
O god yessssss!! Never finished it.
Booooooooo SS is such a lemon
@RareFan I think that is a bit of an over exaggeration. The ports don’t effect the new games being made too much so why do you care just ignore it. This is also just are rumor that probably won’t come true so don’t get so worked up over nothing.
Not my favorite Zelda, but not a bad game either. I'm not sure I'd bother with a replay. Bring me Twilight Princess and Windwaker again, can't get enough of those two.
I loved this game and I'm not sorry
Its my favorite Zelda. But unless it gets a big graphics upgrade and dowsing gets removed.I won't play it again. Its very story-driven.And knowing what happens already removes a lot of the magic.
Also,Skyloft is in Smash Ultimate (in VR even) and Hyrule Warriors DE.So i "visit it" often already.
I haven’t played the game, but motion controlled sword movement sounds awful. If it were to mimic your movements exactly then it would be great but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. Also aren’t switch games 50 eruos not 70.
@JHDK Your comment was so good that I created an account just to like it.
I wonder how many one dollar bills US I need to weigh 70 pounds. Probably not a very good exchange rate. 🤪
I never tried Skyward Sword. I'd love for this to come to the Switch.
You guys did great with the last leak
@Zuljaras If they remastered a 10-hour Game Boy game and charged $60, then I wouldn’t hold my breath for your suggestion. 😌
I probably would play this again if it’s due any time soon, as I’m going through a bit of a games drought at the moment (I’m still on the fence about Paper Mario and don’t currently have the Animal Crossing itch).
Thing is, unless they’re going to make the game only work with motion controls using the Joy-cons the game would need quite an overhaul as many of the enemies and puzzles were designed around precision movements.
Other than the boss fights with The Imprisoned, I enjoyed this game.
Amazon listings are unreliable, the Switch continues to have enough ports as it is, and they already said it’s a no go without motion controls (which, as anyone that’s tried the apparatus shrines in Breath of the Wild can attest to, are vestigial at best on the Switch).
@Pat_trick Forums here on NL are pretty nice. This is the only forum I've ever joined.
Why is this tagged as news? Its a rumour.
Another rumor. There have been enough of those this year to fill five full Directs. NL, you’re not making this agonizing wait any easier. Ha!
Would make sense for a Zelda port to be released early next year given BotW 2 probably isn't happening for awhile (think about how Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD happened while BotW was in development). That said, didn't Aonuma say Skyward Sword HD was impossible due to the motion controls though?
Would be a bit more believable if the Amazon link didn't have it's release date marked for "1 Jan. 2030" in the product details.
A simple "TBA" would have worked fine, if it was a real thing yet had no decided release yet.
Plus based on Nintendo's previously announced plans to NOT port Skyward Sword to Switch and the constant fake rumours, this is simply not believable.
If it does turn out to be more than a troll annoucement, I'll be very surprised.
@SpacedDuck I agree. It's like they are dying to have new lifeless articles (NLife). What about adding articles with interviews, with secret in games that no one knows, with Nintendo stuff, guides, etc. In the past, they were adding articles about hacking, emulators, roms, etc and not exactly the Nintendo news that we would like to read.
I loved this game. Loved the motion controls and the graphical style. That being said, £70 is rather interesting and it being on Amazon means there’s no way in hell its real.
@SpacedDuck There has been nothing to report since the last crap direct.
I would love for Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD to hit the Switch as well; loved those games immensely. Hoping for a new and exciting Direct, soon.
Obviously I'm in the minority but I prefer the linear style of OoT, WW, TP and SS over BoTW's open air style
@BenAV I would guess because it's an Amazon listing, rather than a random small retailer that is only placed in one country, that it's probably less likely that this one is bullsh*t or untrue. But as I said, I'm just guessing.
I'd like it to happen in HD. I liked the wii motion plus controls, soundtrack and graphical video game art style. One of the few games that used wii motion plus.
Considering it's Zelda's 35th Anniversary in 2021, this is a possibility next year? The pricing makes me think this is a mistake though (EDIT: as someone else pointed out above).
Windwaker HD as well please.
Meh. I'd rather have Windwaker HD to be honest.
@JHDK not grumpy at all but out of the billion of these stories that get posted I would say 0% of them actually turn into the reported game actually getting released. Especially when the story is centered around some BS store that 2 people shop at and journalists write an article about "NEW INSERT GAME REPORTEDLY LEAKED BY"
@nkarafo their interview articles are often amazing. The one they did recently about the old gaming magazine was great.
@Apportal creating fake hype is not good journalism. There are plenty of other things to write about that are happening/true.
@RareFan No thanks. We can have both ports and new stuff. Honestly, their new stuff isn’t exactly up to snuff anyway.
@Grumblevolcano I don’t see why that would be impossible. I thought the Switch has motion controls, right?
When Skyward Sword is no longer available in the Wii U eShop, then you will know this rumour is true.
I don't know about Skyward Sword, but Grezzo could be working on another Zelda port or remake for the Switch for the 35th anniversary of Zelda.
It’s one of my favorite games on the Wii.
I hope this is true!
The motion controls are great too, I don’t know why have so hate about.
Man, the Wii U was a Zelda powerhouse! It had four mainline games from Wind Waker to Breath of the Wild, plus all the VC titles from the NES, SNES, and N64.
@Tandy255 The Wii U was a powerhouse for basically every series. I really miss VC and the backwards compatibility was great too. With homebrew you could even play GameCube therefore every single Nintendo home console was playable.
You're right, but SS is objectively the worst-selling 3D Zelda game of all time whilst releasing on Nintendo's best-selling console of all time.
Most people, heck even most Zelda fans, were not asking for this.
Ahhhhhh I would totally be into this, always meant to play it but never did
And Minish Cap on the GBA!
@KevvyLava So true! I suppose they could use it as an opportunity to fix some of the game's faults. In my opinion though, the issues with the game go so far to it's core design that I can't see an improved control scheme helping too much would be interesting to see how they handled it though!
Having been put off gaming in the Wii-era.. after many years as a Nintendo fanboy, I've never played skyward sword and would love a chance to play it. I actually bought a Wii and Twilight Princess twice.over the years but never got past the first couple of hours. Would love.to finally play through both Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword and wish people would stop complaining really. It's.not like Breath of the Wild 2 isn't happening.
@SpacedDuck ah, I see where you are coming from. NintendoLife could’ve made the title less clickbait-y, but I think saying that “every” slight rumor there is NintendoLife writes about it is a bit dramatic, no?
Skyward Sword is the Zelda title I am most regretful for missing out on, so I would buy a Switch remaster day one!
I'm hoping this happens. I missed out on the WiiU.
Actually, it’s not.
Sold better than: Majora’s Mask and the versions of Twilight Princess on the GameCube and Breath of the Wild on the WiiU.
There are precious few games I want rereleased when I still own the original copies. Skyward Sword is at the absolute bottom of games I want to play again. I didn't find it fun or engaging.
You know what would be cool for the anniversary next year? The Oracle games. Now those are games with amazing character designs that could do with an upgrade from antiquated technology. I'd be all over that!
There are certainly other Zelda games that I would prefer to have on Switch, I'll say that much.
@SPL64 I'll give you MM, but I don't think TP or BTOW is a fair comparison as they've released (almost) day and date with their other versions.
Regardless, the N64 sold significantly less than the Wii, so you would typically expect SS to also sell more.
Link's Crossbow Training outsold Skyward Sword, for example
I'd rather have a 2D game either a new one or a remake of the GameBoy titles.
@nessisonett Why would they have VC and backward compatibility when they can just cuck everyone into buying an $80 port every time there’s a new console?
I’ve been wanting this for years; I hope we get it eventually. The leaks will keep coming regardless of Nintendo plugs them or not.
I think the beautiful painterly style was hobbled by the SD Wii so I'd love to play this again on the HD switch. The joy cons could easily be the sword and shield but I'd be happy if there was a traditional fighting style too, for when you're in handheld mode
A listing coming up on Amazon UK is at least more credible than a "insert random European Country" retailer no-one has heard of before!
@TheFullAndy Maybe if it also launched with Joy Con Pros?
@SpacedDuck you need to understand. How would they make money if they didn't have 1 billion articles a month with those shi.tty ads that crash Freely on Android? It's 2020, that means quantity over quality. Soon they'll create a tiktok channel or whatever it's called and use it as the main source of rumours
There are parts I love in this game, but 90% of it was super boring. And Fi is the most insulting thing to my intellect I've ever seen in a game. Navi isn't nearly as obnoxious as Fi. Her "hints" are long, obvious, unskippable, and frequent.
I beat Skyward Sword twice and will absolutely never play it again. It's a deeply flawed game that mostly feels like padding. Some people complain about the motion controls but that was the least of its problems.
Didn't Aonuma explicitly state that porting Skyward Sword to Switch would be too difficult?
@OnlyManWhoCan Not as easy as you think: there’s a reason the original shipped with the Wii Motion Plus, that level of precision (when aided by the front facing IR sensor) was necessary for the design of the game. I don’t think the Joy Cons could replicate that with their current tech
games in the UK are NOT priced over £50 so that alone tells you this is fake
I would love to see an HD remaster of Skyward Sword but only if it includes major quality of life improvements for the silent realms and extensive work to improve the imprisoned encounters which are among the worst bosses (I couldn’t think of a better term for them) in the series especially that last one. I for one would really prefer to not use motion controls I would rather direct the sword’s direction with the other analog stick.
Holy crap. If this is real I'll get it, that's one of the ones I haven't played yet.
This game was an absolute beauty on the Wii with backgrounds that looked like a painting. I know it was a clever way to save computing power, but if is ever ported to the switch, I home it will look exactly the same, just HD with some QOL and extra content.
Also since NL is addicted to rumours, why isn't there a single mention about the rumoured HD Wii U port? Also I heard a rumour Breath of the wild 3 would be released before BotW 2. You should definitely make an article about it using a screenshot of my comment as proof.
Skyward Sword is a mediocre game — nothing great. But I'd still get it on Switch just because I like the Zelda franchise.
@RareFan Ah yes, Switch the port machine where the majority of the games from Nintendo are new games. Amazing how you guys type that ***** without researching or knowing anything.
@MaxiPareja Isn't Majora's Mask the lowest?
Regardless I think the low-ish sales figures are actually a good reason to re-release it now as there's a large market for it that they could reach with a Switch version if handled correctly that they missed out with its original release. I think all of the delays probably hurt its sales potential quite a bit as it came out very late in the Wii's lifespan when interest in the system was starting to die down and I think there'd be a large portion of people who aren't a fan of motion controls that would give the game a chance if they were able to make the game play well without them (which I think they'd do if they were to make a Switch remake so that it's playable handheld).
Well next year is Zelda's 35th anniversary, so if the Mario Remasters rumor is true, then doing the same for Zelda would be easy.
Ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD
HD up those 3DS N64 Zeldas
Maybe a HD Link Between Worlds
Skyward Sword HD
Assuming of course BOTW 2 is far away....
I loved this game on the Wii. I actually tried playing it again through the WiiU VC, but after playing Breath of the Wild, I really struggled with the controls and mechanics in general
@RareFan So don't buy them. No one is holding you at gunpoint and forcing you to buy ports. Plus they've been a fact of life ever since the SNES days.
Wouldn't surprise me. Nintendo ports tons of stuff.
I'll pass. We still have our Wii copy and we barely touch it.
I don't really trust this Amazon leaks, they've done that before, and it turned out it was fake, so 0 expectations.
And, personally I don't like Skyward so much, so a port of the game wouldn't really hype me, and I don't really see it running on all Switch consoles(Lite), unless they take the motion controls, wich I think is an important part of the game. But a Zelda game I would like to see on Switch is a remake of Ocarina of Time. Or a bundle of two of the past gen Zelda games, as Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD (they did the same with Ocarina and Majora's in the GameCube)
And if they start making this ports, I'd love to try Paper Mario TTYD. I never had the chance to try that one when it camed out, so it would be nice to have the chance now
Hell no. ugliest zelda, weakest progression and worst handholding from start to finish. Despite that, 10/10 everywhere.
Let this rest on the wii
I don't think the JoyCon's gyro controls are good enough to replicate the Wii Motion Plus + IR aiming. Nintendo tends to avoid porting games to Switch that require a special control scheme - it's why Wii U games like Nintendo Land or StarFox Zero haven't gotten Switch ports as require simultaneous usage of the Gamepad + TV screen.
@westman98 The Wii Motion and+ weren't even good enough to precisely capture what they had in mind for Skyward.
If the controls had been more in line with Twilight Princess' it might have been more enjoyable.
In my mind is a skyward sword game where after an intro you can fly out to several dozen islands whichever order you choose and get in adventures, same with wind water. Having said that I thoroughly enjoyed skyward sword. Remember it was for the Wii generation which had a lot of casual players also. But would prefer without motion controls xxx
Skyward Sword is a decent Zelda game, though one with flaws. I didn't often have issues with the motion controls, but Fi WAS a little too hand-holdy. XD I wouldn't mind if it became available to the Switch audience, but I doubt I'd be double-dipping (already have the Wii version) unless they add something really substantial.
...That's all IF this listing isn't completely bogus and getting everyone worked up over nothing.
@ChromaticDracula lmao ok kid
Dump the motion controls then we'll talk.
This article is just another rumor NL is covering without any proof to back it up—nothing new here.
Anyway, I'm not ashamed of absolutely loving this game. I loved it from beginning to end. I would gladly play it again.
So what makes people think the JoyCons will be able to capture what Nintendo had in mind with Skyward Sword?
A ratings board leak would hold more water (pardon the pun). Considering I never played it on the wiiU, I'd definitely give it a spin.
@westman98 Which is precisely my point. If they can't even work well on its native controls, anything short of removing the excessive amount of mc actions will only make it worse.
I can’t believe the game is 10 years old. I absolutely loved it, and couldn’t imagine going back to normal controls on a Zelda game at the time. I’m very open to it being remastered on Switch, even if that means control changes.
I hope this is true! I want to play this game, but I don't want to buy a Wii. I also hope they port the remastered versions of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, because I never had a Wii U.
@quigtendo BOTW2 isn't coming until Holiday 2022, you just wait.
Maybe, and it may lead to lots of Wii remasters too.
@TheWingedAvenger Get a Wii U and mod it. Then you can have BOTW, WWHD, and TPHD all on one machine.
@MaxiPareja Yeah the areas were pretty uninspired and boring. That forest and those annoying creatures...meh. And the desert area was boring. Game was too cartoony, I think.
I'd be so psyched. Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess are the only Zeldas I haven't fully played, mostly because I didn't have GC and Wii but also because I'm not a fan of motion controls. Hopefully this would have some way of not using motion.
@SpacedDuck So let's say it turns out to be true. Would you then think it's appropriate for NL to cover what is potential proof of a major Zelda title coming to Switch?
Is this not at least part of what this site's very purpose is?
Honestly I don't get you or the other 100+ people who upvoted you.
What is the constant problem people have with NL (an independent website) posting whatever they like. You must have seen what the article covered - why click if you don't like these articles. Personally I'm delighted to hear of such possible releases whenever information is discovered.
Please keep motion controls (even if optional)!
I'd love it because I started the game and shortly after me and my ex broke up so I had to give him back the game and the motion control plus thingy. I wasn't really liking the game as much as other Zeldas, but I just kind of want to finish it, so yeah, immediate buy for me
Actually that reminds me that they did port Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz. It is heavily dependent on motion controls and its motion controls are the worst I've ever played on the Wii, so the idea isn't impossible. Still doesn't guarantee it'll play well.
@MaxiPareja If this is true, it is a complete waste of a release. They've completely pivoted the Zelda formula away from what Skyward Sword was aiming for
Ok, so the more linear Zelda games (the old and better formula) are a complete waste of a release because of Breath of the Wild or as I like to call it, The Elder Scrolls: Zelda Edition.
They would be better off releasing Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD again
I thought you said that games with the old (better) Zelda formula were a waste of a release?
no one was asking for this
Really, I have seen people asking for this since the Wii U came out. They want a remaster WITHOUT the motion controls.
Skyward Sword is one of the few Zelda games I haven’t played, so I would love a Switch version
I'd love to say I'd pick this up for Switch, but having bought this on the Wii U eshop for $10... there's a limit to how much I value portability.
If they feel the need to port Zelda games, then WWHD/TPHD would be a much better fit, IMO.
@TheFullAndy the wii version use the gyroscope of the wii motion plus didn't use the pointer. The switch has everything needed for the motion control of this game.
@nathatruc The switch had everything needed for the motion control of this game.
The Switch Lite doesn't.
Skyward Sword has the best controls of a Zelda game to date. But Nintendo should definitely add some QoL improvements, like letting Phi talk way less.
Maybe this is a mistake? I see Wind Waker arriving first. That game just looks like it would fit on Switch.
And a Direct is incoming in September. Sony and Microsoft are competing throughout this month, and with Autumn approaching, Nintendo will pounce. I would be surprised if this specific Zelda arrives.
One of my absolute favorite Zelda games. I would love to see it in HD.
@Cyberbotv2 Maybe this is a mistake? I see Wind Waker arriving first. That game just looks like it would fit on Switch.
Wind Waker and Twilight Princess got a remaster last gen.
Not too sure about that, didn't think the joycons were up to snuff for the World of Goo game nevermind something more complicated.
But I trust if Nintendo is doing a remaster they will have solved any potential control issue.
The switch is a hugely successful HD console. I would expect Nintendo to port over everything they have to the Switch. And they will charge $60 for the privilege. And we fans will pay for it.
Yeah, after Metroid Prime Trilogy and before StarFox x F-Zero.
As long as it's had some tweaks to the slog at the beginning, the option to reduce Fi's "guidance", slimlined some of the more annoying fetch quests later in the game, and the controls have been tweaked to work perfectly on Switch--I hope it is.
@Zuljaras : A "double cartridge" release would make no sense unless Nintendo were to release both games individually as well as in a double pack. Switch cartridges can accommodate multiple units of software rather than requiring that they be consolidated in a single shell like physical releases on past consoles.
The Wii U version of Twilight Princess was only about 4.5GB and Skyward Sword was only about 3.7GB. Assuming that Skyward Sword is remade from scratch and not merely ported, along with lossless audio for both games, they would both fit snugly on a single 16GB cartridge.
@Silly_G Sorry for the confusion. I meant Double Pack cartridge not 2 cartridges in one case.
You cannot possibly tell me you think the gameplay structure of WW and TP, which had fully open worlds, is at all similar to the linear direction they were heading in with SS.
Wii U players are not the majority of the market, the loudest minority rarely represent the average Switch player.
I see a lot of criticism regarding Nintendo Life's articles as of late, whether they're speculative ones like this or retro-related projects completely unconnected to Nintendo. But think for a moment: what has NL had to cover from Nintendo themselves in 2020?
Sure there are the usual third-party releases and the scads of "Nindie" titles (99.99% of which the eShop would be far better off without because they're garbage). But aside from Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, and now an upcoming re-release of Pikmin 3, there's essentially been complete silence on any first-party games for the Switch.
In all fairness, try running a daily website dedicated to a specific company and their gaming platform with that to work with. I'm sure it isn't easy right now.
It's worth noting that we are currently approaching 90 days left until Thanksgiving/Black Friday, and right now Pikmin 3 Deluxe would be the sole representative of the Switch as far as first-party offerings to go up against the PS5 and XBox Series X launches. If a full-scale Direct isn't IMMINENT along with a slew of fresh first-party announcements, the crucial holiday season will go down as an unmitigated disaster for Nintendo. In that context, speculative articles about Amazon listings or whatever aren't "bad journalism"; they're simply Nintendo Life sharing what they can with us (even if those listings turn out bogus or lead nowhere) because, for now at least, Nintendo isn't.
If this gets released, I feel like BotW 2 will be have to called "BotW 2" to redeem the series after the confusion for lamens that Skyward Sword is bound to produce. I think if BotW 2 is the "end of an age," though, having as many as possible players in-the-know on the begining of the age makes sense. I like SS well enough. The forest song has been stuck in my head for ten years or something. Remember the Zelda 25th Anniversary music that came with SS? Abosolutely brilliant.
@Crono1973 you can connect joy-con, like for 1-2 switch
@SpacedDuck a listing on amazon for a Zelda remake a beloved Nintendo franchise? Excuse the Nintendo news site for reporting on Nintendo news. Please understand.
I'd love to see Skyward Sword come to Switch, but I don't want Wind Waker and Twilight Princess to be stranded on Wii U island. I'm a sucker for playing franchises in order, and since I've never beaten any of the above, I'd really like to see the Wii U remasters first, to be honest. Better yet, all three together!
@BoilerBroJoe Well, there are rumors of a "Mario All-Stars 2"-type compilation coming for the Switch, so why not a Zelda compilation as well? I'm not betting on it but hey, you never know.
Have there been any specific Amazon listings like this that have actually leaked a first party Nintendo game? I can't seem to find any.
Noiiiiice. Id be all in, at least.
I agree with your statements, but arguments in defense of the Wii game can also be made. For example, it was released in 2011 and needs motion plus to be played. Regarding Crossbow Training, I have it and I think it is a good game, but it is necessary to analyze that it accompanied a package with Wiizaper.
@SpacedDuck poor journalism? They're reporting on entertainment rumors, not world affairs. It's entertainment. There's no harm in reporting a rumor, no matter how baseless. Some people come to sites like this to speculate as a form of entertainment on its own. Entire youtube channels thrive off of this, because when it comes to video games, speculation is entertaining, not irresponsible.
@AtlanteanMan Crazy enough we know more about Switch for the rest of the year than the next gen consoles.
There is no reason why would Amazon put such a thing on its website. This must be real!
@MaxiPareja speak for your yourself
I haven’t played this one so I would love to have it. Keeping it all crossed...
If Nintendo doesn't give an option to turn off the motion controls then imma hard pass on this one.
Metroid Prime trilogy, Super Mario 3D collection, Super Mario 3D World, Star Fox grand prix and the list goes on... I'll put Skyward Sword on it as well and I don't believe it before I see it!
For those of you wanting revamped controls, think about how much worse it'll be compared to motion controls. At least with Joy Cons, you don't need to recalibrate as often as you would with the Wii Motion Plus and Wii Remote Plus. With a revamped control scheme, I can almost guarantee that you'll be complaining about it more than you would with motion controls.
Hell yeah! I tried playing the original SS on a modern 4K tv recently and it was soooo damn blurry. I’d love a graphically crisp clear version on the Switch. It would be a day one purchase for me
@TheFullAndy You do realise that the Joy-Cons are an even more accurate motion controller than the Wiimote ever was...
With the rumored Mario remasters, they supposedly come bundled in a collection (64 + Sunshine + Galaxy), require no significant controls rework, and are releasing at a time when no new 3D Mario game (Odyssey 2?) has been formally announced, so the collection is the next best thing as a celebration of Mario's 35th anniversary and as a strong fall/holiday title for the Switch.
Skyward Sword HD isn't nearly as exciting - the game is not rumored to come bundled in a collection, will need a significant controls rework, and is supposedly releasing at a time when we know Breath of the Wild 2 - a sequel to the best-selling and most recent new Zelda game - is on its way. Skyward Sword itself is also not that widely praised, especially in comparison to Mario 64 and Galaxy.
Yes just like how Persona 5, and Link to the Past came out on Switch. We see alot of these listing then the game never comes out.
It cannot replicate what the wii mote did in games like Resident Evil 4 so whilst it may be more accurate in some instances I would argue it is not more capable, and I doubt it could simulate all the actions required for Skyward Sword.
Why, out of all of the games, would you do SS? It's so gimmicky with its motion controls that it would NOT work on something with meh motion controls like the Switch.
@LUIGITORNADO and if they ever make OOT, I'd like to see Navi go away.
"Navi, I freaking get it, I can use a to open a door."
That maybe could be because RE4 on Switch doesnˋt even hav motion control. Or did Capcom patched it in later on? 🤔
And what actions in Skyward Sword exactly wouldn't the Switch controller be able to simulate?
@TheFullAndy It's not that it couldn't replicate it, it's just that Capcom chose not to port the Wii version, likely because the addition of being able to aim with the Joy-Cons was not worth sacrificing the ability to play in portable mode. With Skyward Sword, there are too many mechanics shoe-horned in that required the motion controls (which, it honestly would have been better without). The Joy-Cons are more than up to the task of replicating the Wiimote+. Just look at Ring Fit and how flawlessly it recognises the Joy-Cons' location and orientation in space.
@SpacedDuck take a chill pill kill Bill!!
Previous rumors have to pan out before new ones are given much credit. It doesn’t seem like Skyward Sword would work without the Wiimotion Plus.
@graysoncharles I didn’t “try to defend the site” I did. My opinion differs from you. If there wasn’t ad revenue or discussions this site very likely wouldn’t exist. And at the end of the day I can’t see what’s wrong with people discussing a possible Zelda skyward sword port, regardless of the probability. If you want to be negative and sweat the details by all means, that’s your opinion to do so. I just think it’s a bit negative to criticize them for this and frankly doesn’t get you anywhere.
No they didn't patch it in but it would have been gyro rather than pointer and therefore it would have been good but not as good as the Wii edition.
Been a long time since I beat Skyward Sword but pretty sure pointer controls were used for some of the weapons/equipment.
Well if this is real I guess we will find out one way or another!
“ Articles like this one only create useless debates that only benefit this site with the ad revenue.”
That’s what pays for the site to exist
Skyward Sword may be a very linear Zelda but it has some of the best dungeon design of any game in the series.
Skyward Sword didn't use pointer controls for anything, it was all gyro.
So I missed this one because I skipped the Wii U. Why didn't people like this one? Was it mainly the motion controls?
@WoomyNNYes Cool! Good to know!
Well - I loved Skyward Sword and after replaying Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on the Gamecube and currently playing Four Swords Adventures - I would gladly replay Skyward Sword on the Switch
Well if this is real I guess we will find out if the joycons can emulate the wiimote properly or not.
I'd be happy and buy it. In fact, I wouldn't mind having something along the lines of a Zelda All Stars on the Switch (or a Mario All Stars for that matter...). The more games the better. I would be very interested especially if they removed motion controls. I've never been into games that required motion controls.
@Brydontk the motion controls were janky and made the game a chore to play at times, otherwise it's a decent game.
If they actually allow you to play with normal controls it would be one of the better Zelda games.
So much negativity. I'd love if this we true.
Anyone actually pre-ordered?
If this true this means breath of the wild 2 is an early 2022 game, and this game is to keep the zelda fans happy in the mean time, which is ok as I quite enjoyed skyward sword but won't feel the same without my shiny gold wii remote
Having it in HD would be nice, but if there's no motion controls then I'm not interested. Also don't let the same company who did TP do this one. WW was so much better.
I would be interested in this, if true. I love Skyward Sword. I am a fan of motion controls and I feel they worked well in this. My only control issues were with the harp. I couldn't ever figure it out. Also I couldn't stand The Imprisoned. Just go away, dude!
@RareFan these ports were all planned before this pandemic so they can't use that as an excuse. They literally don't have enough games that are far in development for them to bring out yet, I expect next year to be better than this year by a mile and 2022 will have a new pokemon and BOTW2
A lot of people skipped this because they didn’t have a Wii u.
This came out on the Wii.
Really don't get all these geniuses that say Breath of the Wild 2 won't come out until 2022. Even if it's real, they released New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and Super Mario Maker 2 within the same six month period. Also, the 35th anniversary isn't a milestone to normal people.
Now this one has no image of the game (fake)
Yes I'd like to see it on Switch. I'd mostly like to see Advanced Wars, or Famicom Wars, or Super Famicom Wars, or Gameboys Wars on Switch though. It would also be great to have 60fps versions of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask on Switch. Oh, and the Gamecube 4 heroes game, multiplayer Zelda game. And Wind Waker and Twilight Princess! and the DS games running at 60fps!
I liked the story and the dungeons in skyward sword. Could do with the following:
1) calm down Fi
2) stop the cutscene for every rupee
3) can we only fight the demise worm once? Twice max, but I felt like I was fighting that thing all the time.
4) can’t reengineer the game for open world, but can we have fast travel for places we’ve been?
5) overhaul the motion controls. Preferably make them optional.
If this happens, I’d be happy to play again.
I've been wanting to play this again but unfortunately sold my Wii U
@Zuljaras double cartridge pack would never happen - I see future releases adopting the bioshock method
As long as they make the game playable portable I will get it. If they don't I will skip it.
However, that would require almost a full remake of the control scheme. And I really don't believe random webshop listings.
@Antraxx777 It's a shame, but not a dealbreaker for me. I LOVE the motion controlled fighting in Skyward Sword but it was also occasionally annoying; each fight became a puzzle, and sometimes you just wanted to fight!
However, although you say the Joy Cons wouldn't cut it, I imagine the geniuses at Nintendo would do everything they could to make it work!
Yah I am going to disagree with the masses but the motion controls in Skyward Sword was fun and worked in everything but one tiny part where you jabbed in one particular boss fight. Everything else rocked. Its the one Zelda game that had more combat going on. Fights were more than just "hit monster when eye is open" and till this day appreciated that. No experience will be like Skyward Sword. It was fun and unique.
I bet it's coming and will be announced next year alongside Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD for Switch. I wonder how they'll adapt the motion controls, though.
I’d probably pass. I have the Wii version and for a Zelda game this is easily my least favorite of the modern ones. If they drop the motion controls I’d consider it tho but I don’t know how this could work without them as it was built with them in mind. I’d much rather have windwaker, twilight princess, or the great ocarina of time.
Honestly I’d be down if they were able to make the game playable without motion controls, it is that reason that kept me from finishing the game. Played a few dungeons and just got annoyed, only Zelda game I never finished. I don’t know if it’s possible to implement a traditional control scheme, given the nature of the game
If its got mandatory motion controls, it’s a pass for me
Please god. The WiiU ports won't end.
Just make NEW GAMES
This will be huge if its true.
They need to make a 3D remake of the original NES game that started it all!
@SPL64 is because of the Constant Hand Holding and FI stating the obvious after you solved a puzzle.
I’ll buy it. Skipped the Wii and Wii U because Nintendo became different. I’ll give this a shot if it doesn’t have motion controls.
I would get it. I actually never finished it on Wii, just got lost in the shuffle.
I'd love Wind Waker HD as well. Even though it came out on the WiiU, I never bought a WiiU.
OMG I hope this is true! It's truly a beautiful game (story and art direction), locked behind terrible motion controls and bad wii graphics.
@durr This is a Wii port, but... still a port nevertheless.
@RareFan No Nintendo, make more remakes! Classics > Something new
@MaxiPareja I've been asking for this for awhile. It's a beautiful game locked behind terrible motion controls. I stopped half way through when my remote bugged out and said I'll come back when this kind of gameplay aint an option
There are qualities of gyro, not all things are of the same quality. My car has an engine, but it's not an engine from a racing car.
@Razer Good to know, thanks!
If all gyro controls are equal hackers would have turned all mobile phones into wii motes about a decade a go. Nintendo want you to use your phone for voice chats and animal crossing stuff so IF all gyro were the same they would just have you use your phone.
Yeah, I'm of the camp that Breath of the Wild's sequel is coming out next year. Covid and WFH has definitely hurt this game's development as it's a massive and highly systemic open world adventure, but I doubt Covid has delayed the game so much that it slips into 2022.
Which makes me wonder why Nintendo would bother bringing Skyward Sword to Switch by itself as that game would look and feel outdated if it released anywhere near Breath of the Wild 2. At least the rumored Mario Collection is a collection and isn't releasing anywhere near a new 3D Mario title.
Cool but uh, gimme Metroid Prime Trilogy okay dood
I'm currently on my 4th playthrough of this game! One of my favs. I honestly can't see how Nintendo could make it work on Switch though, unless it forces you to play with detached joycons.
@RareFan they have separate teams that do ports and new games. Having ports will not effect development of new material and for something that is a decade or older I think ports are well worth it.
Actually been playing this one lately and really enjoying it. It certainly has its flaws, but very few games don't and I have found it quite enjoyable overall. I would recommend giving it a go, just be prepared for some frustrating parts. The stuff it does well massively beats what it does wrong.
Why though? Skyward Sword is hands down the worst (official) Zelda game ever made. I've played them all and SS is the only one I had to force myself to finish. Linear and repetitive af.
Why is everyone so excited about rumors anymore? Rumormills are always 99.98% false most of the time. What's the point? It's just like the fake IGN April Fool's video they posted like 5 years ago. Sorry I'm acting salty here, but the truth is, stop reporting on rumors. Especially if they come from user based sites and not official sites.
PLUS, it ruins the surprise for everyone
@durr A lot of us never had a Wii U. It's nice to have an opportunity to play new stuff without having to buy a new console and with less overhead and wind up time than making a new game from scratch.
I'd give it a shot I guess, though I have a Wii and it's neither rare or expensive there. There are other Zelda games that are higher on the list of games I'd like to play first.
I’d buy it in HD assuming it has good motion controls, the Wii version looks terrible. I always thought the controls on Skyward Sword were highly immersive.
Man I do not understand why this game gets so much hate. But then again, I am a Pokemon fan. I am used to people viciously and constantly attacking games I enjoy.
I'd be down for Skyward Sword HD as I enjoyed the game nearly a decade ago (though it's far from my favorite game in the series), but I think the game's controls would need to be reworked too significantly for it to be playable on Switch (especially in handheld mode) and the game itself would easily get overshadowed if Breath of the Wild 2 released anywhere near it, which is why I dont think it exists TBH.
Also, Skyward Sword HD isn't even a rumor but just a single Amazon listing. Heck, Amazon didn't even call it "Skyward Sword HD" - just "Skyward Sword" - which further exacerbates my skepticism as there is no way Nintendo is going to port Skyward Sword to Switch with no visual enhancements.
@Heavyarms55 I think it's because it gets tag teamed by two different groups of haters. Some people REALLY don't like motion controls, and this was the one Zelda game completely built around them. Then you have the people who don't want more linear Zelda games.
I doubt it. For all their brilliance, nintendo make some stupid decisions. And one they seem to be determined to stick with is not porting some obvious first party games to switch. Why they prefer to leave this money on the table is beyond me. I would pay for games I already own just to avoid the clutter of multiple consoles under my TV.
@JHDK Hardly fair given the absolute flood of straw-grasping articles over the last month or so. Granted, Nintendo proper is flubbing so hard that it's causing NL and other sites the issues, but still.
Please, one of you guys, sure has the number of someone with pull at Nintendo, god damn let somebody know that their clients are loosing their minds, robbed out of e3 this year, mocked by whatever partner mini direct was, and this is just absurd at this point, rumor this rumor that, Nintendo got to say something
Lately I'm getting bored with port-a-palooza, but this one could benefit from an HD upgrade
it ain't gonna happen.
@sirmrguitardude exactly and the switch has much newer gyro and accelorometer than the wii, the wiimotion plus tech was released in 2009, the tech is better now.
When the Wii U was out about 2 years, amazon uk had a listing for Earthbound.... never happened. Anybody remember that? I remember finding that on Amazon, mentioning it here at the time, and no one seemed to care, which was odd. Obviously, it meant nothing, there was no new Earthbound on the Wiiu, but Amazon did list it. Just sayin'.
I REALLY want a new remake of SS, loved that game on the Wii, but it looks like ass.
I'm sure they can work something out without the motion controls.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me...
I’ve already got it. 🤷🏻♂️
@RareFan they can port everything they want as long as they also come up with new games. Sadly they seem to be dormant
It appears that new games are out of fashion these days!
I see a lot of people calling this game a Wii U port, it's not a Wii U port.
It was a Wii port when it came on the Wii U, it released same time as Skyrim, and a whole year before the Wii U released.
If this news is true it would also make this game a Wii port (I doubt this is true).
I remember it was a GOTY contender in 2011 but got obliterated that year.
Why bring back so many old games? From Nintendo's view point, is it purely an easy to make money.
70 pounds? They better write super-deluxe on the box!
Personally id love to see the Zelda collection that came with thecube. Ocarina, master quest and Majors done again. If any gsme is worthy of a from the ground uo remaster its ocarina.
@SpacedDuck Except for half the time it ends up being true and a bunch of other sites reported the same post.
Please, stop with all these ports. ... new, awesome, non-casual games from Nintendo, and not to play the old ones again... very terrible place because of the pandemic... an awesome console like the Switch has just become a porting machine.
@RareFan Please, stop with the solipsistic delusion that Nintendo, let alone the world, is going to cater to you alone. PORTS DO NOT HARM YOU. YOU ARE TRYING TO STOP OTHER PEOPLE FROM PLAYING MORE GAMES. What about the people that haven't played it yet? I guess we should force them all to purchase a Wii to play the game legally?
@Liam_Doolan You've been receiving many complaints about the content of your site, and I do not wish to add to them. But I feel compelled to observe that the content of the comment sections would improve if you implemented a rule banning complaints about ports. I stayed civil in my above reply because you require it. I think you guys can shape the conversation in some pretty important ways.
@COVIDberry Lol? How about banning portbegging comments too while they’re at it then? Or better yet, ban neither and let people talk about what they want and you block people you don’t like? Seems like a win-win.
I guess ports are cheap and there is market demand.
DUN DUN DUN!!! I still don’t believe it.
@COVIDberry banning comments that complain? Sounds a bit like censorship to me
There are a lot of people, and they say they a lot of things....but we don't need to care about it. It's become more clear that this website tries to report proper news, but posting a rumour or controversial article is more successful for them as a business. Even those of us that hate it are still reading and commenting so they're winning either way.
I'd suggest learning to not care, or just avoid the clickbait articles and comment sections.
@RareFan What’s so bad about ports? As long as they are releasing non-ports, why does it matter if there are some ports?
@COVIDberry It’s kind of annoying when you complain about people complaining. We’re allowed to share our opinions. If you don’t like people saying they don’t like a genre of game, don’t read the comments.
Just like Twilight Princess, this game deserves a chance on a console with modern visuals and without motion controls. Even though I quite liked them, they could make them entirely optional.
Also this game has the best story of any Zelda.
Even though I just bought the game on the VC about 6 months ago, I'd absolutely triple dip for it of it got an HD facelift and improved controls. I also suspect Nintendo would find a way to make it work with the Joy-Cons seeing as they're already setup for motion controls. I don't know how tough it would be to reconfigure the game fro traditional control schemes. But I also believe Nintendo would figure out a way or have possibly future proofed the game for that scenario. Who knows?
As for the argument about likes and dislikes of ports and whether it's a valid opinion to share, I have no problems with sharing that you personally much rather new games to ports. I do think you don't need to go further in suggesting they shouldn't exist at all or make claims that none asked for them just because you didn't.
How about banning portbegging comments too while they’re at it then?
@Euler Sounds like a workable compromise to me. No more "Persona 5 for Switch/Atlus hates money! ! !" comments.
posting a rumour or controversial article is more successful for them as a business. Even those of us that hate it are still reading and commenting so they're winning either way.
... just avoid the clickbait articles and comment sections.
@Kimyonaakuma Hahha - which articles are definitely clickbait, and which are serious? I've read the comments on the subject of SS - the game - because I like the various viewpoints on the game itself. And we already have "censorship" - they call it "moderation", "community standards" and such.
It’s kind of annoying when you complain about people complaining. We’re allowed to share our opinions.
@BabyYoshi12 See, this is the thing. I never said anything about "sharing opinions" (i.e. I hated Skyward Sword, motion controls suck, et cetera). You yourself replied to RareFan's inflammatory post. The incessant reactionary comments about ports add a lot of heat but not much light to any comment section. Quite a few people have interesting/insightful comments, or at least deeply-felt "opinions", but wading through the predictable, low-effort posts about ports doesn't tell us anything we don't already know. Of course we want new games! Of course we hate delays! So what? Is the comment section purely for people letting off steam? I think that sort of thing can be relegated to the Forum Topics. Or maybe a weekly "port wars" post, right under "What are you playing this weekend?". Hahaha...
NFS seems to have gone as well now
@TheFox Same old story, when I dislike a game, I just move on. But it seems like most people fixate on a game they dislike and attack it endlessly.
@COVIDberry I simply asked RareFan why that’s his opinion, without disrespecting it.
Nice. I wish they would announce ports for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
I dont remember much of this game, but surely I didn't love it for some reason. Its one of the few Zeldas I've played that I didn't finished.... Rememember some weird flying through holes in the clouds... like some kindd of levels?
Borrowed this game from my supervisor at my old job like...4 years ago! Still have it...& still have yet to play it more than 30 mins. Lol. I want to, but i dont know why its so hard to commit, and i love the Zelda series! One of the only ones i haven't played through... I'd like to see a switch upgrade, WW and TP to the front of the line though!
@jorel262 Those games were ported last gen .
You know how we shake our heads at Bethesda and Rockstar for porting the same game over three generations?
@Crono1973 You ignore the fact it’s Nintendo we’re talking about. It’s okay when they do it. The same way the people singing Nintendo’s praises for not doing loot boxes would justify it and post that stupid “Shut up and take my money” Futurama meme if they did it.
@Crono1973 Didn't have a Wii U and not planning to buy one. Just hoping Nintendo would do me a favor and port them again.
Never played it, but i also never felt like i wanted it to play.
I'll bet its a great game, but i just don't like the setting of that game, plain simple, it has a boring level design, compared with other zelda games, like its rushed.
I cant remember (from streams) that there was one moment i was impressed, thats something i have never had with nintendo games even when i did not own their console and over-watched from an other console.
Because when nintendo launch a game you have to see it, even if you are a ps5 or xbox gamer at that moment.
Its same i felt about twilight princess, with that dark pc style graphics.
Well thats my personal opinion.
@Euler I remember when Nintendo was being praised for not jumping on the DLC train during the Wii days. When they jumped on the train with the Wii U everybody said 'it's ok because Nintendo does it right'.
I would prefer Ocarina of Time remaster than the zeldas from Wii. Those were to awful
@Jav Ocarina of Time got a remaster last gen too. Skyward Sword is due.
@jorel262 They released Twilight Princess on three consoles in a row. I think it's time for something else. You might want to stop reading here, but I played the Wii U HD remake, and I thought it was already showing signs of aging poorly.
@Crono1973 The only games that come to mind for Wii U titles with DLC are MK8 and SSB. I thought both of them were done well. That is to say they already had a good amount of content, and the DLC they sold on top of it was characters, arenas and track that were not content that you'd expect to come in those games. Nobody could honestly say they thought something was missing from SSB when Bayonetta wasn't part of the original line up. Contrast that to BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle; half the main characters of the franchise were missing until you bought the DLC.
@TheFox Also there was DLC for Breath of the Wild but I think you are missing the point. Nintendo got praised for not doing DLC and then got praised for doing DLC. Nintendo even does the season pass (pre-order DLC) nonsense but it's ok when Nintendo does it.
Honestly, I would love more Wii games to be ported to Switch
@RareFan I mean, why care? It's not like porting good games not everyone played like wonderful 101 or skyward sword has any impact at all on making new games. All it means is that there are more games on the switch. Basically all you're saying is you want less games. Don't want an he skyward sword with presumably normal controls, don't buy it. I am. I missed it originally.
So the article above states that the game was scheduled for 2030 on switch?????
Wow, it's 2020, so another 10 years from now!!!!! So it'll come out on the Switch 3??????
@PALversusNTSC the controls were the gimmick there and it's pretty hit and miss because you know, Wii. Twilight princess was basically trying to capture OOT and a lttp only kinda got. It had great and iconic parts like eldin bridge, the temple or time time travel dungeon, and that wild west shoot out section parts, it also had some bits that were just meh ( literally everytime you're forced to play as wolf link and why that part is conveniently left out of all twilight princess stuff that came after).
Anyway skyward sword had great bosses, pretty much dungeons on the same level as wind waker, and that's it.
@Slowdive the controls will work just fine with the joycons. I mean, the joycons are more precise than the Wii motion plus so that's a non problem. It would be unplayable on the switch lite though so they would have to include a non motion control option, which kinda defeats the gimmick of the game. I do agree that they put so much effort in the motion thing that the rest of the game suffered. Except the story. That's basically on par for zelda for me and lorewise I like it.l
@damien33ad We don't know if it will use the same map. It almost certainly won't because if it does with the dependency btow had on it's map and exploration that means it's the same exact game. It will use the same assets to build whatever map it does use though so your point stands
Wow, I'm so shocked...
Skyward Sword isn't coming to the Switch because that would be a game and Nintendo doesn't like to put games on the Switch. They just like to sell consoles that you can load up with overpriced shovelware from the eshop.
@Ambassador_Kong Yes, that's probably why there's more than 300 million software sold and more than 150 million are from Nintendo funded games. Your info is amazing.
Hope it happens. Luckily it’s the only modern zelda game I haven’t played
If we ever get SS again, I hope they rework most of the game. The pacing is really weird, and revisiting the same places would be great if everything was connected.
I'm all for skyward sword on switch! Love it! Probably more than BOTW honestly. It actually had a plot and real dungeons for one thing. Oh and i know some of you out there who haven't played it think they can just eliminate the motion controls but trust me that ain't happening. The game would literally be impossible without them. The entire thing is based around motion controls.
"Update: the listing has been removed"
Probably a mistake then. Ah well.
awwe when going through the comments i feel like a lot of the people didn't really enjoy this game too much which is a shame because it does have its own really fun moments. It certainly might not be the best Zelda made, but it does have some interesting dungeons and if the motion controls would be reworked i think the gameplay wouldnt be much of an issue as well. The Artstyle and Story are quite solid as well in my opinion(especially your interaction with Zelda) and don't forget the awesome music.
Of course there are some Issues like the rather boring flying around or revisiting the same or very similar areas sometime as well as Fi maybe annoying you about low batteries...( Oh and lets not forget a certain boss)
But overall its pretty solid, especially if you are going for the more classic zelda things you might have missed in botw like me(e.g. music and dungeon designs).
@bobzbulder Heh, I don’t know what that guy is talking about. I’ll take every wii/wii u port I can get because I missed damn near everything after 2009 and even before that every single mario game released after new super mario for the ds.
Back during the gamecube days I was blessed with a zelda collection disc and that and my copy of wind waker just up and disappeared one day. I dont even know where the collection came from so I guess it returning to the ether with my wind waker makes sense, but I’d love for something similar to come out again for the switch.
Maybe without the zelda games included in the entertainment system apps though. Minish cap, link between worlds, and skyward sword are the only ones I have never played.
Good point. They’ve only released (checks notes) about 50 in 42 months, with (checks notes again) 8 in 8 months so far this year.
(Whispers) Are you Ok?
Would certainly be interested if they did an extensive rewrite to put in traditional controls. I was really done with both Wii waggle and Wii graphics by late 2011 and didn’t get on with the original at all.
I tried to get in to this one, but I hated the motion controls. I would love a chance to experience this game without the waggle.
I love this game - it's my second-favorite Zelda. I definitely hope it comes to the Switch someday. The joy-cons would take the place of the Wiimote and nunchuk very nicely.
Yet they have Twilight Princess HD and Windwaker HD rotting in the dark corner with the Wii U. Typical Nintendo move. Should've brought those two as well, let alone first. Skyward Sword is too much of a bipolar mess and wouldn't work for anyone that owns a Switch Lite let alone plays portable.
It would be great if a 'Zelda All Stars' was released. It would include the original Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link with up-to-date graphics and pull-down maps.
