Re: Reminder: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2024

Raccoonius

Cat Quest III was my most anticipated game of 2024, and ended up being my GOTY. No surprise given it is one of my all-time favourite series. I gave it an 8/10 because, while I enjoyed it immensely, I feel like there could've been more. Especially coming off Cat Quest II and the massive map. Really like the gear system in this one, especially the titled gear (the rival pirate's gear, not the basic bandana and such).

Having a blast just sailing around (it's relaxing) and trying to improve in the Tower. So a big thank you to The Gentlebros for making yet another pawesomely fun game, and a hearty job well done.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd November)

Well my wife and I kicked off the weekend with a 30 Turn Mario Party Jamboree last night, and I'll be hunting for Gigantamax Pokémon in Shield during the early morning hours (2:30am-5:00am) each day.

Outside of Nintendo, I'll be playing Lego Batman 3 on PS3, and trying to adjust to 30FPS clothes in AC Syndicate on Series X.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Top 5 Nintendo DS Games?

Raccoonius

1. Pokémon Platinum
2. Animal Crossing Wild World
3. Galactic Taz Ball
4. Transformers War for Cybertron
5. Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia

Honourable mentions: Warioware D.I.Y, Wario Master of Disguise, Pokémon Black 2.

It took a while for me to really appreciate the DS as I wasn't a fan of the touchscreen controls, but it's become one of my favourites in later life.

Be taking advantage of the clocks giving me an extra hour tonight with some high Mario Party Jamboree, and some Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness in the evening while wife plays SoS: Friends of Mineral Town.

Away from Nintendo I'll be playing Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, and either Gotham Knights or TMNT: Shredder's Revenge.

Re: Best Sonic Games Of All Time

Sonic Heroes, Sonic Generations, and Sonic Spinball have long been my Top 3, in that order.

Would like to see Knuckles get his own game, just a better one than Shadow's solo outing.

@rjejr Haha nope, just in-game ones. The wife and I are trying to have at least one islander of each personality, then whatever remaining spots can be filled by whoever. She's new to the series, whereas I started with Wild World, went back to GameCube AC, then continued with each new game. I have favourite villagers/islanders I'd like to have, but I've handed the reins over to her.

Photos are pretty neat 👍

@rjejr I'd feel pretty shortchanged too. The whale shark might be neat for a model, but that's a hefty profit lost.

I don't think there were shelves to display stuff on in the past games. There's display stands similar to what the museum uses, but not actually shelves/cabinets. Would be cool though, especially for the Happy Home Academy awards.

Gulliver took a week break from my island, visited, and now it's been about a week and a half. I've been spending my morning trying to track down either a dog or rabbit on a Nook Ticket Island to move in. Rocco just bailed.

@rjejr Huh, I was expecting the oarfish model to be bigger. I started with the mantis (the praying mantis being my favourite bug), honeybee, snail, seahorse, squid, horse mackerel, and now the firefly.

I finally had Redd show up two days ago, after about a two week absence. Wasn't a bad day for art. Leo sent me a Tremendous Statue in the mail, and Redd had a legit Rock Head Statue.

@rjejr I'm not a fan of Sahara either.

Yeah the island was good to me. I've been using that "trick" to get better NMT islands by making the Dodo blush. Still not sure how much I buy into it, but I haven't been to bamboo island in quite a bit. The shark fins have been a thing since the early games, but definitely helpful. Don't want any more sea bass 😠. The shadow for the ribbon eel is pretty neat. Used to be really thin in New Leaf. Digging the change.

Had Flick visit today, so got him to make me a firefly model. Didn't really catch much else.

@rjejr The hot item bonus bumped the chair value up to 4500 each, so walked out with 211,500 bells.

I went to a NMT island last night and snagged a great white, 3 Hammerheads, a ribbon eel, 2 suckerfish, a whale shark, and a saw shark. Wasn't a bad haul, donated to museum and sold the two spare hammerheads.

I have yet to pay off my basement. Keep spending on the turnips with not a whole lotta luck in return. Last week I bought 90000 worth at 93 each, gambled to Saturday morning and sold them for 27 each.

@rjejr I struggle with inventory space, especially in RPGs. I'm definitely a hoarder in those games.
Now that shark season is upon the North (already snagged a few), I would like to keep them in storage for CJ, but he's been so infrequent lately that it's not completely worth filling my storage space.

I saw that fake Direct. Would absolutely love it if we get a multi-craft option. Had enough iron to make 47 iron garden chairs when they were the hot item a week or so ago. Let me tell you, that took a fair bit of time. My poor thumb.
