As brilliant as the Nintendo Labo VR Kit is, the goggles that come with it don't include a strap. While Nintendo's intention is to make its own form of VR as welcoming, accessible and social as possible, obviously not everyone is taken with the hands-on design. As a result, we've seen a number of DIY straps created over the past few weeks, allowing Labo VR users to play games without having to hold the goggles up to their face with their hands.
New York-based accessory maker Sweat Proof Gaming has noticed the demand for hands-free VR on the Switch and has decided to release a comfort headset strap for the Labo VR goggles. These stretchy and adjustable straps can be attached to your goggles without needing to cut or modify the original cardboard design. The product also includes cushioning for your forehead, nose and the back of your head.
The strap is priced at US$13.99 and pre-orders start shipping next Monday on 29th April. If you're still on the fence, stay tuned for our hands-on impression very soon, as we test out the strap with the VR updates for Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

MAYBE I'll give Breath of the Wild another try...and try this out as well...can't right now though. Tight on money...
Or just buy a $2 VR headset take the straps off and put them inside where the washers are.... Boom !
(That's what I did. I had a cheap VR thing for my phone, and I was going to trash it, but kept the head straps..... )
Yes please the vr is good but I don’t wanna hold it all the time
@Ttimer5 oh my god your right imma do that right now
I don't care if my eyes completely implode from having the switch 6 inches from my face and staring at that blurry screen door all day. If BotW has an even remotely playable framerate I will happily buy that strap and never take that silly piece of cardboard off my face.
3rd party add ons for a cheap cardboard VR headset. It's quite ridiculous when you think about it.
What I really want is a non-cardboard VR headset for the Switch (with strap). I doubt it will be at all comfortable holding cardboard to my face for long periods of time.
Welp I just took one of the vr phone straps off and put them on the headset and it’s actually better now
@Rafke Yeah it does. The right Joy Con has a video camera at the bottom that tracks the movement, and the left copies your movement.
I ordered one. I’ve been slowly going through each piece every day this week and I’m loving every minute of it. I’ll move on to the bird tomorrow and have the weekend for the Blaster, then by the time this ships in I’ll be ready for the Mario and Zelda updates. I’ll be starting Zelda over, frame rate and motion blur be damned.
I'm fine with having the VR headset on a set of legs. Something just feel right about doing that for a Nintendo console. But can't place my fingers on why. lol
"We don't sell to England"
-_-
I would not use such harness without proper foam padding. The way it is on your head without straps is ok because it does not put any force, but a proper VR headset have foam to be nice with your face.
Here people are going to bleed or have weird mark on their face
@Godzil From the article: “The product also includes cushioning for your forehead, nose and the back of your head.”
@SockJones: Ok missed that in the article, but the photo don't show it
I'll have to try out BotW (and Mario) tomorrow first before I invest even one cent more into Labo VR. The blaster game is fun, but also shortlived and has no use for a headstrap. The rest of the available games is ... not trash, but nothing I want to spend more time with.
I'm sure more games will support VR in the future and I imagine BotW will be quite compelling as least an occasional indulgence (already played the game to death after all). If BotW VR clicks with me and the inevitable future releases/ patches are announced, I'd definitely look into a headstrap (and even more importantly cushioning) solution.
Would be really interested to see patches for multiplayer games like ARMS and of course Mario Kart (/ Tennis). That would really make the value of LaboVR skyrocket for me.
Something along the lines of Metorid Prime Trilogy ... well, that would be insane, even though it is already doable on PC, even with a PSVR! ^^
@Godzil
I think the forehead pad is that little darker gray strip on the lighter gray strip near the top, which, in that case, who knows how well it will work.
@Indominus_B which of the mini games do you enjoy the most?
For the first time a VR related technology got my attention. The difference is that now you don't have to buy an extra hardware at a high price. $39.99 is all you need. I'd like to have the option. Plus, there are plenty of Switch games thst already support VR in Playstation's. I wonder if they'll be updated. Examples: Doom VFR (which is a separate game), Skyrim VR, Donut County and so on
@Iron65 Additional hardware really is needed for an immersive experience.
I imagine the next Nintendo will come with it, and may even be to the level of PSVR or Oculus.
Looks cool, I'll probably pick one up. But, I don't understand why they'd call it "Sweat Proof Gaming" when this thing is likely to cause you to sweat more than playing it regularly. Any headset that's going to be strapped to your face is going to cause you to sweat (unless it was temperature controlled). I had assumed sweat prevention was the whole reason Nintendo didn't include a head strap in the first place.
Yes please! I was on the fence and was hoping somebody would make something like this so I would be able to do certain things more reliably.
Oh goody, somebody made a headset! I will wait for a review for it though.
@Nintenrocket imma? what are you 8?
i plan to make myself some sort of strap, once my VR kit arrives tomorrow. If i cant solve the challenge, maybe I'll order this.
@Indominus_B This is great, thanks very much! I have the kit but haven't been bothered to put the blaster together yet. Definitely going to do it now
@andykara2003 Hey do you have the flying bird VR kit accessory thing? If you do tell me if its any good.
@Trajan yup I think they really want to push into that. I hope we can get the best from their exclusives and third parties as well.
@Nintendo_Thumb That's the name of their brand - they sell other products as well. They didn't intend to reference VR.
Unfortunately, this product is out of stock right now . But at least that tells you it's a popular idea, and maybe Nintendo should have considered something like this.
