Following a delay, Gone Home by Fullbright is now finally available on the Switch eShop for $14.99 / £11.99.
Before you go home, you might be interested to know a physical version has just been announced to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the title. Creative production company iam8bit will be handling the release in collaboration with Annapurna Interactive and Fullbright.
The physical version will set you back $34.99 and includes a premium reversible cover insert and a foldout poster. The product is expected to ship in Q1 2019, due to extended production times for Nintendo Switch cartridges. There are also 1000 Vinyl soundtracks up for grabs. This will cost $30.00 and includes a digital download. Both items can be pre-ordered now from the iam8bit website.

What..? 20 more for a reversible cover and a poster? I don't want to be seen as negative but, the value proposition doesn't add up. The price of the game itself is kind of high already, you can beat it in a couple of hours AND you can also beat it in minutes (I got the trophy for that).
By the way, for my opinion to be fully understood, I got and platinum the game a long time ago through PS Plus.
Trying to figure out what was seminal or groundbreaking about this game?
This game sucks and promotes degeneracy.
Really enjoyed this on the PS4 and I'll go back for another go on the Switch. For some reason I tend to spend a lot more time on ported Switch versions of games, getting much more of any game's percentage completed than I would or did on the original machines. Shame there's no achievement system to mark that though...
Anyway, I'll be getting this - digital not physical. Just get me Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and that's my fave walking sims all covered!
I enjoyed this game over 3 years ago on ps4
@Dahn_
... and the cartridge.
It amazes me how people are begging for a physical release but don't want to put their money where their mouth is !
@Gold_Ranger
Your comment lacks nuance and promotes poor discussion etiquette.
They best be including some fun extras with this physical release. Replicas of some of the letters, maybe.
Maybe a new story expanding trinket altogether. A new letter, some post-it notes with phone doodles by one of the characters, a nice bookmark, that sort of thing. That's the most in-universe things I can think of right now.
I got the game free on PC, so I'll skip this. It's a nice game though.
@FarkyValentine It had a gay plotline. I mean don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game and it's story, but it was a pretty standard point and click affair if you ask me. I have a feeling because it increased LGBT "representation" it got more credit than was warranted.
I don't know whether to get this game or not. I'm really torn. Both this and that Lifeless Planet game look like my sort of game but I just dunno....
@Gold_Ranger That's just a kind of irony about lesbian, is it ?
inb4 another comments section about Gone Home becomes filled with negative comments from the haters
@FarkyValentine [SPOILER]
It was about homosexuality. That's pretty much the reason it was promoted so much, because of the story (to be fair it is a "walking simulator", so story is all there is).
@Gold_Ranger I hope you're not as sad and lonely as ya seem. 'Cause hating people is just a sad way to be. I hope you get better.
Y'know, a friend of mine presented the thought that all the outcries for "representation," and "inclusion," are little more than willful segregation. Kinda messed up my world view in a way. Strange the ways that people want to divide themselves from everyone.
I come from a, "colorful," family, so I'm all about tolerance, and accepting things of others that have no concern or power over my own life, but once that single thought was presented, I just... haven't known what to think.
That said, I don't think this is something I could see myself getting. As I said before, it's been free through multiple channels since it's release, and... awesome for anyone that does want it, but... How much "content," is even there?
I suppose it's not a terrible asking price considering, but...
a few hours of entertainment? (I feel like I'm pushing it there.) I dunno, I'm a cheap, (broke) value-based spender. If I'm spending money, I'm gonna spend time to get that value as well. I just don't see it.
But, hey, cool. I hope it does well for the devs and publishers and is a decent enough product for any consumer that's feelin' it.
Story aside, which is not really that great or controversial but very simple (a simple lesbian affair) and a bit depressing regarding her father, the game is not worth buying, not even worth playing, and the soundtrack is awful.
And another victory for my backlog... I'll see you on GameFly at a later date, Gone Home! I feel like I'm playing "Guess what game will get a physical release next!" on Switch lol, but hey, more experiences with physical, less money wasted
@frabbit I wasn’t a big of gone home but Everybody’s gone to the rapture was pretty damn intriguing.
@Bombdotorg999 for sure! Those accents though... I don't know how well people in the USA coped with those! It would only have been harder to understand if I voiced it with thick Scottish
Overrated home invasion simulator. Skip it.
Literally can’t wait to play this. My partner played through the PS4 version a while ago and I was mesmerised by it. Some weeks ago I really got pulled into the idea of these story-games after making (and being very successful in doing so) non-stop action games for decades.
I knew it was coming to Switch but the second it was available I rushed to pay money to the developers and Nintendo, and proceeded to download the game. Family commitments mean I haven’t have time to play it yet - I would rather play it docked on a big TV than in handheld mode.
More games like this, devs, tell me a great and unique story and you’ll get money from me and my partner (they got it on their Switch too)
