Re: Call Of Duty On Switch Still Isn't Guaranteed As FTC Appeals Court Ruling

PuppyToucher

@HeadPirate I agree with you. However, to play devil’s advocate to comment #115 let’s assume the market is the tech sector as a whole and not just video games or console makers.

When viewing the tech sector as a whole Sony is not the leader and the ftc fighting this acquisition makes more sense.

The video games industry does not exist in a vacuum and it would be wise to consider all industry Microsoft dabbles in before allowing mergers and acquisitions.

Again, I agree with you overall and the ftc didn’t make the argument I am using. But it is still worth considering this angle.

Re: Japanese Charts: Final Fantasy XVI Dethrones Zelda: TOTK After Six Weeks On Top

PuppyToucher

@UltimateOtaku91 lol lets not try to down play TOTK because it was only 4% attach rate. Those were still incredible sales.

10% for FF16 is nice but this early in PS5 life you can have those kinds of attach rates because only a few exclusive true system sellers so far.

Let’s not forget BOTW having a 56% attach rate with 187k sells in launch week in Japan. So by your logic TOTK is a complete failure since it came no where close to that kind of attach rate.

In reality overall sales matter far more than attach rate.

Re: Square Enix Celebrates As Octopath Traveler II Ships 1 Million Units

PuppyToucher

I really feel like the first game sold as well and as fast as it did because it was a switch exclusive and published by Nintendo at least here in USA. I think had octopath traveler 2 been exclusive and again published by Nintendo it would have drawn the same crowd if not more people. Seems square does not entirely understand Nintendo fans and how to market to us and also that pc and PlayStation fans aren’t interested in this type of game.

Re: Zelda: TOTK Is The Sixth Game Ever To Get Perfect Scores From Edge And Famitsu

PuppyToucher

@Cashews I get your point, but I think hades is a bad example because the dev already made hits like bastion and transitor. I think a better example would be the hype hollow knight got or shovel knight before that. Those devs didn’t have any games out prior to those that could color a reviewer’s opinion before they even started the game.

However, at the same time franchises earn their reputation, they aren’t just given. And this holds true for all big AAA titles from known franchises. There is a reason that cod, Pokémon, fifa, madden, assassins creed, etc. are never in serious consideration for being game of the year. These franchises reputations proceed themselves and they get reviewed accordingly. Even the worst zelda game is objectively a good game and these best zelda games are agreed to be all time greats.

Overall, I think it is fair to acknowledge the reputation a franchise/brand can bring but it is not the be all end all. If it was then a beloved franchise like halo wouldn’t be on a steady decline since halo 3.

Zelda tears of the kingdom benefits from the name recognition the zelda brand brings, but it also continues the high standard the franchises prior games have set. The high praise tears of the kingdom is receiving is due to meeting the lofty expectations of what it means to be a game in the zelda franchise and a true AAA Nintendo release.

Re: Feature: Game Of The Year 2022 - Nintendo Life Staff Awards

PuppyToucher

My game of the year is definitely Pokémon scarlet and violet. 80hrs into it and still going strong! Loving the post game support with the Tera raids, gives sort of a monster hunter vibe. Working my way to getting back into competitive Pokémon too and they made it easier than it has in a long time to actually build your own team.

Re: Nintendo Switch Has Now Sold 92.87 Million Units, And It's Catching The Wii

PuppyToucher

@sanderev @abugida @Nourldean I think it is an interesting debate on if the switch is a true hybrid or a handheld with docking capability. Because of the lite I personally view it as a handheld that can be docked. However, given the price and games selection Nintendo clearly views it as a hybrid.

Having said all of that, people consider the ps vita a handheld, but sony did release the PlayStation vita tv that could only be played on a tv… so I can see how someone would say just because the switch lite exist doesn’t invalidate the switches hybrid status.

Re: Metroid Dread Studio Hit With Allegations Of Poor Organisation And Management

@Zuljaras nah it’s not just video games, I know my current job has a lot of stress and is what I would consider toxic. But the pay is decent, the benefits are great, there is job security if you can keep with agency goals, and their is opportunity for promotion. But you will be worked very hard with little to no thanks and former coworkers say the same things about my current job these people are saying about this devs office culture.

Re: Nintendo's Digital Deals Sale Is Now Live, Up To 75% Off Hundreds Of Switch Games

PuppyToucher

@TDRsuperstar2 I went to Nintendo.com and clicked my way to deals and sales. Walked over to cashier and showed them the prices for the digital games and scrolled to each game I wanted to purchase. They checked me out and while checking me out noticed I qualified for a free game due to a Target Corporation promotion.

Just ask any sales associate to price match and tell them they can check for themselves on the official Nintendo website if they do not believe you.

Re: Nintendo's Digital Deals Sale Is Now Live, Up To 75% Off Hundreds Of Switch Games

PuppyToucher

For anyone in USA still looking to cash in on this sale, Target will price match and they also having a buy 2 games and get 1 free promotion going on. Good way to get physical copies of games during a digital sale and still get 1 extra game in the process. I actually ended up getting 4 physical games myself due to target price matching. Ended out with the outer worlds, fenyx immortals rising, the borderlands legacy collection and the bio shock collection. Well worth it for like $75ish for all those games.

@johnvboy I will reply to you since you are being reasonable. I normally would agree that closing comments isn’t the answer, but this site clearly doesn’t like to moderate like you are not so subtlety hinting at.

Also I wasn’t in the Pokémon comment sections because I don’t read every article/comment but I will take you at your word that it wasn’t the greatest most productive comment section.

Re: Nintendo New York Store Windows Smashed During Riots In Manhattan

@Damo please close the comment section. I have not replied to anyone but just a quick glance and I can already see this section is counterproductive and you cannot keep up with comments. You say aggression will not be tolerated yet comment #22 and comment #70 are calling people idiots and morons. That type of language is nothing but argumentative and inflammatory. Now I have not replied because I am trying to lead by example, but please just do the right thing and close this down before it spirals out of control. I love Nintendo and getting my news from this website. We do not need this type of energy in the comments. Please close it down.
