Re: It's Official: The Witcher 3: Complete Edition Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This Year

PuppyToucher

Read article, but didn’t see mention of who is actually porting the game. Is the studio itself or did they outsource it somewhere?

Regardless I will be very interested to see how this ends up running. If it runs well then there truly are few excuses beyond laziness or just general refusal to port other current gen AAA games.

Edit: found out it’s saber interactive

Re: Nintendo Cuts Its 20 Million Switch Hardware Sales Target Despite Incredible Holiday Season Performance

PuppyToucher

Not sure if I posted it on here or not but I have been very vocal with friends saying that if Nintendo is to sell 20mil this fiscal year they need to sell 12mil in Q3. Considering that they sold 9mil and bumped estimates down by 3mil I gotta say I am impressed with my prediction.

As for the switch being 90% of Nintendo’s revenue is very encouraging. Guarantees Nintendo won’t move away from the console business in the near future... not that I thought they would, but this reinforces that point.

Re: Metroid Prime 4 Development Scrapped, Will Be Restarted Alongside Retro Studios

PuppyToucher

I’m thinking this releases 2022 at the earliest. While the news is disappointing, I am glad Nintendo was willing to share this with the fans. I believe this will generate a lot of goodwill towards the company and with their release schedule for this year they can afford to take their time on other games because they still have plenty of what should be good games coming out. A lot of companies should start being as transparent as Nintendo was in this instance. Heck Nintendo should strive to consistently be this forthcoming with information.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Was The Fifth Best-Selling Game Last Year In The US

PuppyToucher

@Evilworm really surprised you think smash is dumbed down and reskinned. Care to elaborate on that?

The mechanics of the game feel very different to me than smash 4. Granted I didn’t play smash 4 as long as I played melee so I don’t know the game as throughly as some but smash 4 felt a lot more defensive and melee was clearly faster paced and more aggressive. This seems like a good balance so far and a lot of the characters play different based on moveset changes in this game. Link is a very good example since his bombs changed and his grab changed as well.

Re: Review: Fight Of Gods - A Comically Bad Crossover That Nobody Asked For

PuppyToucher

@Severian I agree, the devs knew this idea would be pushing the envelope of what is acceptable, but with this type of game and the amount of backlash it can cause you kinda have to knock it out the park or just not do it at all.

Weird how they choose to ignore some pretty major faiths/religious groups when making their roster too. I am also surprised Nintendo actually let this game in given how divisive it is.

Re: Guide: Every Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controller Available Right Now

PuppyToucher

Seriously Nintendo is leaving money on the table. I am addicted to buying Joy-Cons and I know I am not alone. I already own 3 sets and have a 4th on the way that will have a d pad put in. If Nintendo would give me the option to buy various styles and color of Joy-Cons I would, but as it stands I will just have to find someone willing to modify mine on the cheap like I have been.

Re: Feature: 17 Remasters We'd Love To See On Switch In 2019

PuppyToucher

Ok I’ll be honest, have not had time to read this article yet, but I did quickly scroll through and did not see eternal darkness from the GameCube listed! Now I did scroll quick so I could have missed some criteria but how can this not be a game to have remastered?

Otherwise good list!

Re: Switch Has Outsold The Original And Slim PlayStation 4 In Japan

PuppyToucher

@Yosher I think it’s noteworthy to some because the PS4 pro has a noticeable power bump over the original PS4 and the PS4 Slim, so it’s more likely someone who already owned a PS4 would upgrade to that model and slightly inflate sales numbers.

Personally, I think this is a nice and interesting fact, but global numbers for all models are far more important imo.

Re: UK Charts: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Becomes The Fastest-Selling Smash Game Of All Time

PuppyToucher

@Agramonte eh I think those excuses are still valid and smash sold well despite all of that. Admittedly I don’t follow the U.K. too much so I could be wrong, but I find it interesting they talked about how great the sales were percentage-wise compared to previous titles rather than just out right reporting numbers. Going through the comments it appears smash ultimate sold around 100-150 thousand units which is good, but it doesn’t seem astronomically large. For a frame of reference do you know what god of war numbers were during launch?

Re: Pokémon: Let's Go Sales Hit 1.5 Million In US Alone, Super Mario Party Surpasses 1 Million

PuppyToucher

@jockmahon “The news comes alongside Nintendo's recent milestone success stories; sales of first-party games, including digital downloads, reportedly topped 1 million units just within the dates of 22nd - 26th November.
Further data has also been provided for the Switch, Nintendo 3DS family of systems, and Nintendo's Classic range of consoles. All of the data below relates to the US specifically:

  • Lifetime sales of Nintendo Switch have reached more than 8.2 million units.”

I also have money invested in Nintendo but I don’t see how that is relevant to this discussion.

No I don’t think they sold 8.2mil in a few days I think, based on what the article clearly states and I have copied once again above, that lifetime sales in the USA are 8.2mil, meaning since launch in March of 2017 to present day they have sold more than 8.2 mil Nintendo switch consoles in the United States of America alone.

However, I do think that from November 22-26 they sold over 1mil units of first party games when you include digital sales.

Re: Fortnite Now Has 200 Million Registered Players, Up 60% Since June

PuppyToucher

@TheGhostWhoWalks while this is only based on my friends list, so it is a small sample size, but even with all the games available this holiday season the vast majority of people who I see online are playing fortnite. And when I check their play times they are usually 200+ hours so I think switch users are just as likely to play this game as any user on any other console would be.

Re: Fortnite Now Has 200 Million Registered Players, Up 60% Since June

PuppyToucher

I don’t play this game, but I’m glad it’s on switch. We seriously need more mainstream multiplayer shooters on the console. This and Warframe are great but missing out on COD and battlefield are significant omissions. It still makes no sense COD hasn’t come over since we had COD on the Wii U. Even the Nintendo DS had COD...

Re: People Are Review-Bombing Pokémon: Let's Go Across Major Sites, Amazon Japan Blocks User Scores

PuppyToucher

@hatch haha you caught me! I begrudgingly bought the game because it’s Pokémon and I am a fan but I was not expecting to really enjoy it.

Then I played and at first it was painfully easy, but then I started finding the charm in the game. It also helps that you can completely avoid motion controls in handheld if you want.

After about 12 hours of play time I am throughly enjoying the game. I do wish it had pro controller support for tv play, but otherwise it’s another great entry in the series.
