Re: Metroid Dread - What To Do When You Arrive In Ghavoran

Pignot

Hi Nintendo life. Just an opinion of mine but I don't particularly like how the news page gets super cluttered with these short guides on new games. Wouldn't one page for a Metroid dread guide you just keep updating be better? I'm basically skimming over all things with Samus in the picture at the moment which means I've accidentally skipped other non guide related Metroid news as well. Anyway, just my opinion. Otherwise, keep up the good work.

Re: You'll Really Dig This New Shovel Knight Game From Yacht Club And Nitrome

@Elvie @sweth_t
They did! In my opinion, Nitrome made the best flash games. They were always high quality and well animated. My favourite game from them was Final Ninja Zero, where you were a ninja and you could throw ninja stars in any direction and attach rope to them and swing around the environment while taking out enemies. And my other favourite was Mutiny which was basically worms but with pirates.

Re: Dan Fornace Reconfirms Smash-Style Brawler Rivals Of Aether For Switch

I think people misunderstand this game. From what I've seen it's not just another smash clone. The game is quite unique in the realm of "smash clones" with every character having some really cool themed abilities that you just don't see in smash (such as a character that spews smoke to hide in and can make an illusionary copy of himself, or a character who creates puddles and can warp to them, or a character that has aerial instead of ground smash attacks, or a character that throws clouds and can then create lighting bolts between them). The rules in this game also differ to smash in many ways (such as there being no ledge grab). The developer Dan Fornance has done a really good job of making it have smooth competitive gameplay, as seen by the fact it has a healthy competitive community and tournaments of its own.

@Gzeus88
I am pretty bummed that they cut the national dex definitely did cut my hype by a fair margin. And I wish the animations and graphics were more up to scratch with modern times as well (especially when considering their amount of money and resources). Yet for me I can still see a good amount of quality and creativity in their work and will very likely enjoy this game regardless. I'm sure a decent majority of people at GF do try their best to make a good game. Japanese developers are well known for working hard.

@Hissscratch139
Agreed from the beginning the games were very positively responded to for the most part, what with a cool new region, characters and Pokemon. That was all until they revealed the news about the national dex cut and everyone went up in arms (including me somewhat). Other than missing a number of Pokemon, it's still a really fun looking game. (I'd still love if they included all the Pokemon though)

Re: Soapbox: Why Sword And Shield's Pokémon Purge Will Benefit Everyone

Pignot

Admittedly my hype for Pokemon SwSh lessened when I heard that not all Pokemon will be in this game. If they put some more time into the game they could keep all of them. But I do see that there is a point where there are just too many to manage. I am still looking forward to this game as it will still have around 400-500 Pokemon at least (people have roughly calculated) and has some cool new stuff they are trying, like the wild area. As someone who has dabbled in the competitive scene I can see the point on balancing. I only hope they actually work at making it more balanced. My fear is that they didn't actually work on balancing like they said and it will just be Landorus-T equivalents in every second online battle Hopefully they actually fulfil their excuses for not including a national dex with some good animations, story, characters, world, new pokemon designs and balanced competitive gameplay. Cuz I gotta say, the Galar region, new Pokemon and characters we've seen so far actually do look well done.

Re: Random: Shovel Knight "Coming Soon" To Competitive Brawler Rivals Of Aether

Pignot

I've been keeping an eye out on Rivals of Aether for a bit now and the last news I heard from Dan Fornance was that they were originally trying to come out before Super Smash Bros on Switch. But when it got revealed for late this year, he instead thought that it would be better to leave some breathing room from smash and I believe he said possibly mid 2019 for possible release dates.

Surprised by the score, but respect it. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the art style but it still looks like a good and creative game. I was expecting an 8 or at minimum 7 review score here but it's nice to be surprised.

I live in Australia and decided to buy it two days after release because I played the demo over the weekend and it really sold me on it. But everywhere I looked, it was sold out. Today, I decided to go to Target in this town just outside my city and I was able to land their last copy of the game. So yeah, it is selling pretty well here where I live.

Re: Site News: We Want Your Help To Become Even Better

I reckon you guys make the best Nintendo news website. Always very quick and informative. And your reviews are a great way to check if I would perhaps like a game. Thanks for all your hard work! The only thing I don't like is some article titles put out seem to be slightly skewed in wording to make people click on them (some might call this clickbait). But otherwise, it's great.

Re: Talking Point: What Were The Biggest Highs And Lows From E3 2018?

Pignot

As a Smash bros fan I loved how much they showed of it in the direct, although I understand why many people didn't. I could have watched even more of it. I also really enjoyed the treehouse. It was what showed me awesome gameplay of Daemon X Machina and Starlink of which both I am quite excited to play now.
