@TheBigK I was confused about the starter selection too, so thanks for your comment. Makes a lot of sense when you think about it by process of elimination.
Hi Nintendo life. Just an opinion of mine but I don't particularly like how the news page gets super cluttered with these short guides on new games. Wouldn't one page for a Metroid dread guide you just keep updating be better? I'm basically skimming over all things with Samus in the picture at the moment which means I've accidentally skipped other non guide related Metroid news as well. Anyway, just my opinion. Otherwise, keep up the good work.
@Deku-Scrub This makes sense with how Pokemon games have worked in the past. They experimented with Pokemon following you in a small area in Platinum before implementing it fully in HeartGold and SoulSilver.
@Elvie @sweth_t
They did! In my opinion, Nitrome made the best flash games. They were always high quality and well animated. My favourite game from them was Final Ninja Zero, where you were a ninja and you could throw ninja stars in any direction and attach rope to them and swing around the environment while taking out enemies. And my other favourite was Mutiny which was basically worms but with pirates.
I think people misunderstand this game. From what I've seen it's not just another smash clone. The game is quite unique in the realm of "smash clones" with every character having some really cool themed abilities that you just don't see in smash (such as a character that spews smoke to hide in and can make an illusionary copy of himself, or a character who creates puddles and can warp to them, or a character that has aerial instead of ground smash attacks, or a character that throws clouds and can then create lighting bolts between them). The rules in this game also differ to smash in many ways (such as there being no ledge grab). The developer Dan Fornance has done a really good job of making it have smooth competitive gameplay, as seen by the fact it has a healthy competitive community and tournaments of its own.
Hmmm, I think if a special edition standard Switch for Pokemon (or another cool game) comes out after this revision then I reckon I'm down with buying a new Switch, as that big battery life jump sounds really enticing.
@Gzeus88 I am pretty bummed that they cut the national dex definitely did cut my hype by a fair margin. And I wish the animations and graphics were more up to scratch with modern times as well (especially when considering their amount of money and resources). Yet for me I can still see a good amount of quality and creativity in their work and will very likely enjoy this game regardless. I'm sure a decent majority of people at GF do try their best to make a good game. Japanese developers are well known for working hard.
@Hissscratch139 Agreed from the beginning the games were very positively responded to for the most part, what with a cool new region, characters and Pokemon. That was all until they revealed the news about the national dex cut and everyone went up in arms (including me somewhat). Other than missing a number of Pokemon, it's still a really fun looking game. (I'd still love if they included all the Pokemon though)
I can imagine it having 200 hours of game being great news for other people. Me personally have really been struggling to finish long games (especially if it includes grinding). So for me, as I was on the fence about this to begin with, this has pushed me to think that maybe I won't buy this game
@Sinton If you are referring to the picture they have included in this article, it is only a small snap shot of the real one and so doesn't show Link. Look up the real one on Google, it's great!
Admittedly my hype for Pokemon SwSh lessened when I heard that not all Pokemon will be in this game. If they put some more time into the game they could keep all of them. But I do see that there is a point where there are just too many to manage. I am still looking forward to this game as it will still have around 400-500 Pokemon at least (people have roughly calculated) and has some cool new stuff they are trying, like the wild area. As someone who has dabbled in the competitive scene I can see the point on balancing. I only hope they actually work at making it more balanced. My fear is that they didn't actually work on balancing like they said and it will just be Landorus-T equivalents in every second online battle Hopefully they actually fulfil their excuses for not including a national dex with some good animations, story, characters, world, new pokemon designs and balanced competitive gameplay. Cuz I gotta say, the Galar region, new Pokemon and characters we've seen so far actually do look well done.
Good stuff. New SteamWorld game! Inmost got my attention as well. Wargroove and Cross Code looked good too (although not sure about cross code as it looked a little messy).
I'm conflicted. The actual game looks great! But minimum starting price for this game is $120 (AUD)! And man, I could almost get 2 games for the price of that. It just doesn't seem worth the money and I'm sad, cuz I've been looking forward to this game. Wish it was a standard $80 like other games
Sorry to be negative but after playing NES games for the first time I found them to be pretty boring... The online service is still a pretty good deal though. Keen to check out Metroid.
@Lord I agree. If it was a working app from the very beginning then it may have been what people used to chat. But now people like myself have found apps like discord in order to fill in the gap nintendo left for over a year.
Glad that this is catering to more people and the game looks quite nice. Loving the way Pokemon follow you. Unfortunately, abilities being taken out is a bit of a turn off for me. They were one of the most interesting parts in making battles different. Still considering whether to get this game or not
Well, I might have considered getting these in order to actually have a decent d-pad controller for platformers... but now it's just a lot of money to only be able to play a couple games. Really not worth it at all.
Was literally waiting for the announcement of it coming to Switch since that leak/rumour last year said it would. Glad I waited as I am very keen to play portably as well as docked.
@Dualmask
Have a look at the E3 Treehouse gameplay they showed. It's a pretty decent looking game and they are still in the process of making it.
Edit: My bad, other peoples have already told you
That's awesome Bethesda is making a game with Switch in mind. This hopefully means the performance should be pretty clean (hopefully). Looking forward to this.
I've been keeping an eye out on Rivals of Aether for a bit now and the last news I heard from Dan Fornance was that they were originally trying to come out before Super Smash Bros on Switch. But when it got revealed for late this year, he instead thought that it would be better to leave some breathing room from smash and I believe he said possibly mid 2019 for possible release dates. https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/8hsket/dan_fornace_addresses_concerns_about_rivals_of/
Woohoo! Hopefully should be at least one new character or echo. Glad they are doing this as it means they can dedicate their time to smash with this and people won't complain so much about the next direct having too much smash.
Surprised by the score, but respect it. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the art style but it still looks like a good and creative game. I was expecting an 8 or at minimum 7 review score here but it's nice to be surprised.
I don't like having to pay for online but if the money taken is actually being used to make Nintendo's online a while heap better, then I think that's agreeable. F2P games probably shouldn't have paid online connected to then though
Well, both Nintendo and the game's website have accidentally said it's coming to Switch. I reckon that's got me pretty close to being 80% sure it is coming. But it might just be delayed, seeing as they haven't announced it yet.
I've been looking forward to getting this game cuz I'm a fan of Nitrome. But unfortunately I think they're right, I need to put down Octopath in order to get this and I still have a lot to go in Octopath
I live in Australia and decided to buy it two days after release because I played the demo over the weekend and it really sold me on it. But everywhere I looked, it was sold out. Today, I decided to go to Target in this town just outside my city and I was able to land their last copy of the game. So yeah, it is selling pretty well here where I live.
I reckon you guys make the best Nintendo news website. Always very quick and informative. And your reviews are a great way to check if I would perhaps like a game. Thanks for all your hard work! The only thing I don't like is some article titles put out seem to be slightly skewed in wording to make people click on them (some might call this clickbait). But otherwise, it's great.
Well, I'm interested. I sometimes get a tad turned off by free-to-play games but from what I hear, this is seen as one of the most fair free-to-play games out there and is totally playable without spending a single cent, which is awesome Loving the space ninja theme here
As a Smash bros fan I loved how much they showed of it in the direct, although I understand why many people didn't. I could have watched even more of it. I also really enjoyed the treehouse. It was what showed me awesome gameplay of Daemon X Machina and Starlink of which both I am quite excited to play now.
