New Pokémon have been revealed for the upcoming Pokémon: Sword and Shield on Nintendo Switch, as well as some brand-new human characters to boot.
It has also been revealed that Dynamaxing – the previously-announced tactic which caused 'mon to grow in size during battle – is just the tip of the iceberg.
Gigantamaxing will also be a thing in the new game, and as well as causing your Pokémon to balloon in size, it enables them to use special G-Max Moves:
Only certain species of Pokémon can Gigantamax—and even among such species, only rare specimens will be able to Gigantamax. The majority of Pokémon will keep their usual appearance when they Dynamax.

Drednaw and Corviknight are two previously-revealed monsters which have the ability to Gigantamax. A whole bunch of new screenshots have been released, which you can view here.
We've also got these all-new beasts to take stock of:
Alcremie
![Alcremie Charmilly Pokusan](https://images.nintendolife.com/53b6a74cf377e/alcremie-charmilly-pokusan.900x.jpg)
Category: Cream Pokémon
Type: Fairy
Height: 1′
Weight: 1.1 lbs.
Ability: Sweet Veil
Alcremie can produce whipped cream, which becomes richer the happier Alcremie is feeling. Desserts made using this cream are invariably delicious, so many pastry chefs strive to have an Alcremie as their partner. When attacked by an opponent, Alcremie will throw sweet-scented cream to distract them or temporarily blind them, giving itself time to escape.
![Screen 5](https://images.nintendolife.com/d90cedcb9c0bf/screen-5.900x.jpg)
Gigantamax Alcremie
![GigantamaxAlcremie CharmillyGigamax GigadynamaxPokusan AlcremieGigamax](https://images.nintendolife.com/16b081e48c31b/gigantamaxalcremie-charmillygigamax-gigadynamaxpokusan-alcremiegigamax.900x.jpg)
Type: Fairy
Height: 98′5″+
Weight: Unknown
Ability: Sweet Veil
The cream pouring out of its body hardens when subjected to impacts—the stronger the impact, the harder it becomes—giving Alcremie an impressive resistance to physical attacks. Additionally, the giant “Berry” decorations on Alcremie’s body are as hard as diamonds, and it’s said that most attacks won’t even be able to leave a scratch. Alcremie will launch high-calorie cream missiles around itself to attack its opponents. Any Pokémon that touches this cream will be filled with energy and euphoria but at the same time will fall into a state of complete confusion. Fairy-type moves used by Gigantamax Alcremie will change to G-Max Finale, which will heal all Pokémon on Alcremie’s side while dealing damage to an opponent.
![Screen 7](https://images.nintendolife.com/9d3641ab2e368/screen-7.900x.jpg)
Yamper
![Yamper Voltoutou Voldi](https://images.nintendolife.com/6a81f6b1afdd2/yamper-voltoutou-voldi.900x.jpg)
Category: Puppy Pokémon
Type: Electric
Height: 1′
Weight: 29.8 lbs.
Ability: Ball Fetch
Yamper tends to be drawn to things that are moving quickly. It can chase after people, Pokémon, or even vehicles. It has an organ in its body that generates electricity, and it’s activated when Yamper runs around. Yamper can’t store the electricity it generates, so it’s often seen running around with electric sparks crackling around it. Yamper’s Ability, Ball Fetch, is a new Ability that comes into play when the Trainer throws a Poké Ball at a wild Pokémon but fails to catch it. If Yamper isn’t holding an item, it will fetch the first Poké Ball that failed to catch the Pokémon, regardless of what type of Poké Ball it is.
![Screen 9](https://images.nintendolife.com/267737af87551/screen-9.900x.jpg)
Rolycoly
![Rolycoly Charbi Klonkett](https://images.nintendolife.com/ad885c62b03ee/rolycoly-charbi-klonkett.900x.jpg)
Category: Coal Pokémon
Type: Rock
Height: 1′
Weight: 26.5 lbs.
Ability: Steam Engine / Heatproof
Rolycoly’s red eye can illuminate dark areas, while it uses the lump of coal attached to its body like a wheel to move through coal mines and caves. It is able to travel smoothly even over rough terrain. Until about one hundred years ago, every household in the Galar region had a Rolycoly. The families would use the coal that dropped off its body for cooking and heating their homes. Rolycoly’s Ability, Steam Engine, is a new Ability that provides a Speed stat boost if it’s hit with a Fire- or Water-type move during battle.
![Screen 11](https://images.nintendolife.com/bc4c9e0082640/screen-11.900x.jpg)
Duraludon
![Duraludon Duralugon](https://images.nintendolife.com/883401220fe3b/duraludon-duralugon.900x.jpg)
Category: Alloy Pokémon
Type: Steel/Dragon
Height: 5′11″
Weight: 88.2 lbs.
Ability: Light Metal / Heavy Metal
Duraludon live in caves and mountainous areas. Their two arms have slightly different shapes, and they use them to grind down rock surfaces for food. Its body is composed of incredibly durable metal but is also surprisingly light, so Duraludon can move quite quickly despite its appearance. Its body is susceptible to corrosion, however, and is known to rust easily. They share their habitat with Tyranitar, so these two Pokémon are often seen battling each other in the mountains of the Galar region.
![Screen 12](https://images.nintendolife.com/f411a27a472b0/screen-12.900x.jpg)
As well as new Pokémon, some more natives of the Galar Region have been revealed:
Leon
![Screenshot 2019 07 08 At 14.33.50](https://images.nintendolife.com/3d2d656890dcf/screenshot-2019-07-08-at-14-33-50.900x.jpg)
Leon is the strongest Trainer in the Galar region, and he won the Championship in his first-ever Gym Challenge—without being defeated in battle a single time. To this day, his winning streak continues to grow, and his formidable talent for Pokémon battles is unmatched. He’s aided in his countless victories by his partner Charizard, and he’s known to go all out during battles, no matter who he’s facing. His battle style has captured the hearts of the people of Galar.
![Screen 14](https://images.nintendolife.com/377d212e30715/screen-14.900x.jpg)
Chairman Rose
![ChairmanRose LepresidentShehroz LigaPrasident Rose ElPresidente Rose IlpresidenteRose](https://images.nintendolife.com/fa648d09cedb5/chairmanrose-lepresidentshehroz-ligaprasident-rose-elpresidente-rose-ilpresidenterose.900x.jpg)
Rose is the chairman of the Galar Pokémon League and the president of a large business conglomerate. He’s made the Galar Pokémon League famous by implementing Gym Battles featuring the Dynamax phenomenon. Chairman Rose was also the first to endorse Leon for the Gym Challenge.
![Screen 15](https://images.nintendolife.com/8e59f0d8c25a3/screen-15.900x.jpg)
Oleana
![Oleana Liv Olivia Olive](https://images.nintendolife.com/8816df396d8b5/oleana-liv-olivia-olive.900x.jpg)
Oleana is Chairman Rose’s secretary and is known for her calm and collected personality. She also serves as the vice president of Rose’s company and is largely in charge of the day-to-day running of the company.
![Screen 16](https://images.nintendolife.com/e44e9bc12fed8/screen-16.900x.jpg)
Bea
![Bea Faiza Saida Judith Fabia](https://images.nintendolife.com/4e08e2c9bd42f/bea-faiza-saida-judith-fabia.900x.jpg)
Bea is a prodigy in Galar karate, carrying on its century-old traditions and techniques. Known for her stoicism and rarely showing her emotions, Bea is also an expert on Fighting-type Pokémon. Her battle style remains very precise even when she’s backed into a corner.
![Screen 17](https://images.nintendolife.com/eb28caa1559d7/screen-17.900x.jpg)
Allister
![Allister Alistair Nio Onion](https://images.nintendolife.com/a2b9d63d563bd/allister-alistair-nio-onion.900x.jpg)
Allister is a talented Trainer of Ghost-type Pokémon who has taken on the mantle of the Ghost-type Gym Leader at a young age. He’s extremely shy and fearful, and he always hides his face with a mask when around other people. Allister rarely makes public appearances and apparently spends most of his time around ruins or in cemeteries.
Certain towns in the Galar region will have different Gyms that Trainers can challenge depending on whether they’re playing Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield. In Pokémon Sword, they will face down Bea, while in Pokémon Shield, they can test their skills against Allister.

Do you only have images for the cream Pokemon, or are the others just covered up by adverts?
Somehow the more they reveal, the more underwhelmed I become. At least it seems that Farfetch'd will have an evolution based on the now increasingly convincing 4Chan leak.
Was impressed with the info they showed here. Version exclusive gyms, Mega evo-like form changes so its really like kaiju battles, the new Pokemon... Not bad
Awesome! Looking forward to this game. I like these new mons.
Ooh...
I like that Duraludon.
So, Alcreamy was basically Birthday Cake Pokemon ?! 🤣
I'm gonna Eat You Up, spit you out
And run you right into the ground
a cake pokemon, thats stupid
That's a funny name for Mega Evolution.
Alcremie is very cute, and I'm LOVING a lot of the new gym leader designs.
Alcremie kinda seems like they're just revisiting the theme of fairy types and sweet desserts, as they did with Swirlix and Slurpuff.
@jockmahon
Cake Pokemon was not stupid, but yummy. 😛
Seems like they are trying to combat the negative press that is going about.
Honestly there are some aspects of this that look interesting but it still looks half baked. And go figure they are using old battle animations for even the new pokemon. Where is all the new work that required pokemon to be cut Game Freak?
Was never a fan of Vanillite, but I think I can get behind Alcremie.
And I mean the normal Alcremie. Gigantamax Alcremie looks dumb.
So they didn't get rid of mega evolution, they just made it larger than life and changed the name...
Edit: nevermind, just saw only certain pokemon gigamax. But I’m still loving the concept either way. Would have been nicer if it could happen with all pokkemon. Would take away some of the National Dex sting
Bea and Allister have my heart! Loving the gigamaxing as it’s essentially giant mega-evolution pokemon for ALL the pokemon. Kinda puts into some perspective why all the pokemon aren’t included now. I mean, we still don’t know the grand total of the Galar dex, but if each and every pokemon has an alternate form for Gigamaxing, then that’s a bit of work put in on top of general Dynamaxing.
Also loving that Bea and Allister are version exclusive gym leaders kinda like from Black and White. Only difference was it was the same gym type but different leaders
Finally! A stupid cake Pokémon to go with my stupid ice cream Pokémon! Also, as if making your Pokémon big wasn't already a cool mechanic, now you're telling me I can make them even BIGGER?! Sign me the Froakie UP!!
People still cry about ice cream Pokemon, curious to see how a giant wedding cake Pokemon will be perceived.
Also not sure what to think about locking certain gyms/characters behind an additional 60$ purchase. It was already awful in Fire Emblem Fates.
But wait! In an attempt to mix up the meta, super ultra mega delicious maxing can be done by a select 1 Pokemon:. Farfetch'd.
Now no player will be able to guess that every other player will have one on their team to remain competitive, because without the whole 1 Pokemon with the new gimmick of just getting even larger than everyone else, they will all fall behind!
Brilliant!!
Alcremie mega evolves into a wedding cake!
Bea will become very popular on Deviantart. I can tell you that!
@RupeeClock I got that impression, too. I wish they would look into dark fairy tales. Not necessarily make them look monstrous (although that would be great)... just more inspired.
@Anti-Matter The Pokemon is a Lie!
@Damo A big thank you for not putting the new Pokémon names or designs in the thumbnail. TPC always seems determined to spoil every aspect of their new games prior to release: thank you for helping me avoid that here. Please continue to do so going forward, some of us really do appreciate it!
@Torakaka
What lie ? 🤨
What do you mean ?
That bass line !
Is it safe to talk about S & S now?
Big ol' stupid.
Great, the one thing I appreciated of Dynamax was that at least it was a gimmick not limiting the Pkmn you can count on, but NOPE seems like you gotta catch a specific specie of Pkmn to fully use its potential too...
Can't I just have a Pkmn game where I can build my party without a gimmick telling me that I'm missing out on something?! >.<
(Also I want to play Shield and fight Bea so the drama of version picking is starting to get serious for me now XD; )
@graysoncharles

Here you go.
They're out of ideas, and there's too many Pokemon, apparently.
They should just end the series.
They can still sell Pikachu merchandise until the end of time.
@BakaKnight Just making sure you're aware that Bea is in Sword not Shield.
Where are the #BringBackNationalDex peeps at?
Grabs popcorn
@Franklin between your comment and the lame popcorn cliches, I’d say the people in the comment section are the ones out of ideas. 😆
@Anti-Matter You've never played Portal to get the reference.
Wow. Except for of course Yamper, these Pokémon are trash (and even Yamper has gaudy green and yellow). The human designs are excellent, however.
Oh great Gym Leaders are version exclusive. That doesn't seem like a bit too far in terms of version differences at all. /s
@NIN10DOXD It'll be even worse for merchandising. Unless it's, like, 6 Gyms each game and 2 are exclusive, bringing the total unique count to 8.
@Torakaka
Wut??
What are you talking about?
Portal??
What was that?
What was the connection between Pokemon and Portal?
So it's sort of the same as mega evolution, but random. And here I thought dynamaxing was a good way to not limit the thing to a few specific pokemon.
Allister alone still isn't going to justify the price increase.
@Lizuka
He'll train the mons you never could
I like the new pokemon above, I hope we get at least 150 new pokemon with the removal of national dex.
@Anti-Matter Portal is a First Person Puzzle game and there's a meme that goes "The Cake is a Lie." Now replace "Cake" with "Pokemon".
@NIN10DOXD not a first for the series, see gen 5.
@Silly_G Least Dynamax'd Wailord has a decent sized snack now.
....gi..ganta....max..............??????????????
...................
..........I don't even............
.............no. Just no.
@CosmoXY As far as I remember, back then it was just a single gym, Dragon typed in both versions, and the actual difference was just a single Pokemon, so not even close to the same thing.
Did nobody pick up on the sword and shield exclusive logos on each of the gym leaders reveal?
@Lizuka time to deliver the Pokemon Black Mass
@Torakaka
And then what do you mean by telling me about Pokemon is a Lie ?
What do you mean Pokemon is a Lie ?
Are you gonna discourage me about Pokemon?
I wasn't keen on Alcremie until it clicked that it's strawberries and cream, the most english of desserts (we literally eat that or eton mess at every barbeque). I hope it evolves from an Iced Gem.
I'm interested to see what Rolycoly evolves into...
As for Duraludon, it seems to be the pseudo-legendary for this region and it's one of the worst designs I've ever seen. (to me at least).
Underwhelming Pokémon. They all appear to be variants of Pokémon I've seen before.
and I still strongly dislike Dynamax. It's lame that Pokémon now have a form that only lasts three turns. The bloated Pokémon look out of place, takes some of the immersion away. I wish there was a mode without it.
...Stupid unnecessary gimmicks. This game is as passionless as the 3DS entries. My faith in the Pokémon mainline games has been lost. It breaks my heart because it could've been so much more.
Exclusive gyms are actually a HUGE difference between versions. I wonder if there are any other major differences besides the usual?
Alcreamie "The cream pouring out of its body hardens when subjected to impacts" Why does that sound surprisingly dirty
Didn't GF say the reason they stopped introducing Megas and made Z-Moves and Dynamaxing was so you could use them with any Pokemon of your choice instead of a select few?
Then they bring this in for select Pokemon
A bit boring or rather predictable tbh with you. I’m still waiting for a Poison/Fairy type Pokemon
@Preposterous gym leaders were different, so it is close to the same thing. Prove me wrong.
@Anti-Matter (Facepalm) Seriously? IT'S A FREAKING MEME! IT'S NOT SUPPOSE TO MAKE SENSE!
Version exclusive gyms? Add another stupid move from GF to the list.
@CosmoXY You would still enter the same gym in Opelucid city and face the same trainers before fighting against the leader with exactly the same Pokemon (checked this time), the only difference would be trainer's sprite and text. Now it's content split between two versions for the sake of making buying the same game twice more appealing.
Imagine splitting NPCs from Breath of the Wild between two games: Legend of Zelda Breath and Legend of Zelda Wild (with complete experience, Breath of the Wild, being released a year later).
@Torakaka
I have no idea at all about that meme. 🤨
What was your purpose to telling me about Pokemon is a Lie?
Was that a joke meme or insulting meme?
@Anti-Matter (Facepalm harder)
Ugh... Awesome karate girl, or impressive ghost boy? Tough choice...
@Preposterous I’m not disputing any of that. He said version exclusive gym leaders. I said not the first time. Show me how my statement is incorrect.
Still, point taken about the fact that there is different content in each version. But even that is not exactly new to the series, see gen 3 (completely different evil teams).
@Preposterous Honestly, this isn't anything new. The same thing happened with Emerald, and B2W2, but them doing this with a first release game is new.
Also Duraludon has my vote along with Corviknight for coolest new Pokemon reveals.
@Torakaka
Okay, i never heard any kind of bad jokes or infamous meme. I have no idea at all, completely. 🤨
Even you have explained but i still have no idea at all.
I'm not a native speaker so i don't even know what meme or jokes that usually Western peoples do.
So, can you tell me why did you told me about "Pokemon is a Lie" ?
Basically what do you want to say to me ?
@JellyPop Same here on RolyColy. A neat Pokemon concept too.
@CosmoXY Should have said from the start you only wanted to argue about semantics and not the matter at hand. Your comment wasn't technically incorrect, but definitely (if not also intentionally) misleading.
@Preposterous I disagree. I posted nothing misleading at all, I thought it was short, succinct and clear.
@Anti-Matter Forget it, there are some things that cannot translate well and humor is one of them.
It was pretty clear that Gamefreak was removing Mega Evolutions because they were going to be replaced by something somewhat similar, not just because they felt like it.
I didnt have a 3DS so I am probably gonna get this game. i am going to have to do some research on all the new mechanics and pokemon I have missed.
Okay.
So the 4 Chan leak is real...
We have new Unova region Pokémon
Chairman and secretary are evil. So is probably Leon.
Aaaand now Mega evolution is only for certain individual Pokémon within a species.
@Kal_el_0724 What I meant. I wanna play Shield and fight Bea, so the problem of picking a version is getting real cause the two things don't match.
Wow this looks awesome.
The more they show the better this game looks, and it already looked great.
@Anti-Matter He's just referencing something from the first person puzzle video game Portal.
In the game, you are a test subject being led around by an AI who promises cake after the testing is over.
However, as you go through the test chambers, you find hideouts made by a former employee of the place you are exploring, who knows what's really going on, and repeatedly writes "the cake is a lie" on the walls of his hideouts, and the phrase became popular.
As Alcremie is based on a cake, he was just making a joke reference to Portal. He wasn't saying something was ACTUALLY a lie. Alcremie just reminded him of Portal and he wanted to make a joke reference to it.
Calling it, chairman Rose looks like mirage from Apex legends, he's bamboozling everyone by pretending to be the good guy (your not fooling me)
I was wondering if we would get any UK-inspired Pokemon in the new games and here we have a straight up Strawberries-and-Cream Pokemon, one that looks like the Queen's Corgi and a Coal Pokemon who I assume is arch enemies with the Leader of the British Branch of team rocket: Margaret Thatcher. And that steel dragon probably lives in Sheffield.
These are all gold!
Alcreamie looks cute. And I like its Gigantamax form
I like the new Pokémon, nice designs. The three clouds indicating whatever in dynamax mode still strongly resemble floating feces, though.
@AlexOlney I laughed out loud at that comment, you hit the nail on the head.
So they took out mega evolution... to give us a new sort of mega evolution?
The appeal of dynamaxing to me was that any Pokemon could do it, so it baffles me they are throwing in an even more restricted version of the feature they took out.
yawn
lame pokemon designs.
Also was with that creepy pokemon trainer who looks like a shy guy.
@Sam_Loser2 That and Mega Evolutions altered appereance and even the strategy of many Pokemon. This is... just inferior.
Yamper is my spirit animal
So Gigantamax is Dynamax+Mega Evolution+Z Moves? And since it is (according to the lore) exclusive to the Galar Region, it is another gimmick that will be dropped in favor for a new one next generation?
Even after all the criticism about this game and people complaining, it still looks good. I agree with some of the points they have against it but some are just trying to find something wrong and it still looks amazing
Exclusive Gym leaders... Huge red flag for me, not a fan of that.
I wonder if bea will become as popular as the other two female characters that were revealed
@Andigaming
Had not seen that yet and have to agree with your opinion on that
Yamper is a 14/10. Would have an entire team made up of them.
Ah, so gigamaxing is like, Mega Evolving, then, which means that comes back in a sense.
Still waiting for this game's big new thing, though. They gotta be keeping something secret on-par with what most gens add, right? Mega Evolution, Triple Battles, Z-Moves, etc. I hope it's not just more Mega Evolutions with a different name
Alcremie looks Delicious
![Untitled](https://i.chzbgr.com/full/7901726208/hEB15DDCD/)
![Untitled](https://thumbs.gfycat.com/UnfinishedInstructiveDartfrog-size_restricted.gif)
i like yamper less and less, but i never really liked small dogs to begin with, though its ability looks useful.
Rolycoly looks like the love child of roggenrola & one of the wheelies from kirby series, while Duraludon looks like the love child of an avalugg & a lighter. most horrible looking dragon type yet.
Allister reminds me of that thing possessing kilula's little sister in hunter x hunter, Nanika
Alcremie has me sold 😻😹😻 I need several of them
Dynamaxing still looks like a stupid gimmick but it's nice to have some new info
@Anti-Matter Thanks. I’ll have a box
@Angelic_Lapras_King : Dynamaxed Skitty is quite the snack. rwoar
Alcremie looks great. Everything else is meh.
This game is not for me.... However, I'm pleased that they seem to be trying to counter the negative press the game is receiving. If this pushes them to try and better the game before release that can only be a good thing.
Ugh, why do they keep making "food, but it's alive" pokemon?
It's just too damned unappealing...
Alcremie is Slurpuff done right. Yamper was already shown in the E3 demo but is still amazing, I hope it gets an evolution. The other two new ones are all right. Duraludon looks a lot less cool when they put it next to a classic like Tyranitar lol.
Chairman Rose is definitely the villain and his company is the evil team, he even has a secretary that can be a team admin.
Exclusive Gym Leaders are probably the dumbest form of version differences they have thought up. These characters are really unique and have separate types, it would have been nice to fight both of them.
This is going to be big.
Geez there barely any good new fairy type pokemon. All of them are basic objects or food based.
So far these Pokemon are ok, but I haven't seen any that I'm really excited to use.
Not really a fan of exclusive gyms for each game unless there is a way to face those gym leaders in the post game. If you can then I am ok with it. If not then that is disappointing.
@Gzeus88 Half-baked. I see what you did there. XD
Gigantamax sounds both...dirty and cringy at once. Not feeling the new designs but oh well.
@KayFiOS And your cotton candy Pokemon, with a cherubi on top.
@Wolfgabe Err yeah that may not have been the best description they could have used.
@Torakaka Lmao
I don't know if this is true, but it just seems to me that Chairman Rose and his underlings may be the next bad guy team, like team rocket?
@JaxonH you should consider stand up.
@RadioHedgeFund not from the UK but I think this is fantastic too. Loving the new Pokémon and now I’m in the mood for ice cream
@JaxonH agree, really looking forward to it. The kids and I will have a blast. They’re into collecting cards and everything too.
@Gzeus88
Salt is real, he? Triggered someone is excited for this game, are we?
@JaxonH triggered by what exactly? Feel free to be excited by it.
@graysoncharles what is my way of highway?
@Hissscratch139 amazing...this is why Game freak will never push the boat out.
I wish they'd let me not be exposed to every element of this game before release. I knew basically everything about S+M and it made me already over it.
They don't need to reveal Evey single aspect and new Pokémon before release. Allow for some mystery
They're further proving that these games should be known as Pokemon Kaiju instead. XD
I think my favorite out of this new batch is Rolycoly. The steel/dragon type is...interesting...but Alcremie reminds me too much of Slurpuff. At least the former looks slightly less weird.
....I think I'm done with this series, they keep removing stuff that made older games so great, and then add in new crap that no one cares about. I miss Platinum...
@Gzeus88 I was maybe exaggerating a bit with ‘amazing’ but it isn’t as terrible as everyone is saying it is.
@graysoncharles I only respect valid opinions.
@graysoncharles a valid opinion is 1 with substance and evidence to validate said opinion.
cant wait for this game.
I would rather go home.
Still waiting to see these "High Quality" animations.
@CosmoXY It wasn't nearly as extreme. They were the same type and almost the same team. Both characters also still appear in the games.
Hmm I was thinking Sword, but I like the Ghost Gym leader design a lot more. Might switch to Shield.
#notsorry
@graysoncharles I'm not the only one, thank god! When I first saw Leon in the last trailer, my immediate reaction was "This guy has to be evil". Chairman Rose looks like a bad guy too.
Alcremie? Geez they're really scraping the bottom of the barrel for new pokemon ideas with this one. 😂
Ok...first of all...Nintendo is my home...and second...I'm getting Pokemon Shield because I like Allister!
@NIN10DOXD Yep we’ve been over this, but you said version exclusive gym leaders and I said not the first time. Fact. Also, it’s hardly the first time content has been significantly different between versions, see Ruby & Sapphire.
@CosmoXY Those played into the legendary Pokémon and were largely on interchangeable based on theme. That's not nearly as polarizing as taking two entirely unrelated gym leaders and making them exclusive. I never said anywhere that it was first anyway. You don't have to act like your correcting someone as if they haven't played every Pokémon game since the original generation several times over such as myself. I'm just saying that this implementation seems more direct so it may be more bothersome now.
Welp looks like I’m switching to sword. This game is shaping up to look pretty interesting.
@Hissscratch139
Agreed from the beginning the games were very positively responded to for the most part, what with a cool new region, characters and Pokemon. That was all until they revealed the news about the national dex cut and everyone went up in arms (including me somewhat). Other than missing a number of Pokemon, it's still a really fun looking game. (I'd still love if they included all the Pokemon though)
Ya'll accepted a pile of goop and a big electric Pokeball with a face 20 years ago, but suddenly food Pokemon is ridiculous??
@Pignot what is so difficult to understand here.
People are furious that Game Freak have falsely claimed an improvement in animation, graphical fidelity as reason to cut pokemon. Yet none of what they've shown so far substantiate their reasoning. Therefore people are like wtf? This is why we dont get the Natdex? Gtfo of here GF.
@Gzeus88
I am pretty bummed that they cut the national dex definitely did cut my hype by a fair margin. And I wish the animations and graphics were more up to scratch with modern times as well (especially when considering their amount of money and resources). Yet for me I can still see a good amount of quality and creativity in their work and will very likely enjoy this game regardless. I'm sure a decent majority of people at GF do try their best to make a good game. Japanese developers are well known for working hard.
@Pignot I guess therein lies our difference. I dont like being lied to or rewarding companies with my hard earned money for games that do not meet my expectations or indeed the expectations that companies have set themselves. I have wondered if they were honest in saying they didnt have the time or skill to make a fully realised console game then I would have an easier time with that. It's the lies about improving stuff that really grates on me. At this point I think Nintendo needs to step in and support them. But as it stands I will not buy a game based on lies.
@NIN10DOXD I simply stated that this will not be the first time there have been version exclusive gym leaders or unique content between versions. Facts. Why is that so hard for people to understand and why do people want to keep arguing about it?
@Gzeus88 If these “lies” bother you so much, good luck in the real world. You’re going to love office politics, national politics, PR spin from all manner of sources, advertising of almost anything. Have fun boycotting every little “lie” that gets told to you in your life.
@CosmoXY this man knows the real world, listen to this man!!! that's why people play video games, because it's real!!
@phanboy haha, not sure I understand your comment. But to clarify, if “lies” about video games bothers anyone, real life lies are going to be a slap in the face. Anyway, I enjoy video games as a reprieve from the “real world” so I don’t get too fussed about relatively minor complaints. Cheers!
@Franz I have to agree with you. The more they show of the game, the less excited I am for it. I mean I was already deciding on skiiping the games beforehand, but this seals it. And oh gooooood. They're locking Gym Leaders behind certain games again. Goooooooood....
@CosmoXY what a silly thing to try equate buying a product to living life.
Game Freak are selling lies and expecting us to accept and pay for it! What's so difficult to understand here.
@Gzeus88 I think your naïveté is clouding your understanding of what I said. I said if the “lies” you think you’ve been told about a video game make you feel so burned, you are going to be in for a rude awakening when you realize all the other lies that are coming your way in life. I’m not defending any of GameFreak’s design decisions, I fully understand the backlash. I just think some people are a little disproportionally upset about it.
@CosmoXY dude I'm aware of the lies that go on every day. Nothing new. The difference is I'm not expected to believe them or pay for it. And I will be as upset about this as I want. I dont need my emotion ring fenced by anyone.
@Gzeus88 Ok that’s cool. Have a good day.
unpopular opinion but since the Pokemon games went from the DS to the 3DS the games have gotten progressively worse
@KBuckley27 It's really not that unpopular of an opinion. Even people who are excited for these games often have some issues with the past two generations.
