Not as negative as I sound

Re: Legendary Pictures Has Secured the Film Rights to Pokémon

Piersen

Sounds fine (well, relatively speaking since I don't really care all that much), but shouldn't their first movie deal represent what the franchise is about a little more? I think an animated movie for kids not starring the un-aging animated character from a series as old as I am would be the better move. Like telling a normal story Ghibli/Disney style, not promoting the "super-rare-legendary-you-guys-!!!" of the day, you know...

Re: Ubisoft CEO Says Nintendo NX Will Help Grow The Industry And Pull In Casual Players

Piersen

Didn't they say the same about Wii U?

Imagine if Nintendo played to their strengths, put some emulators on the thing, and be like "Hey witches, btw, you can play any GB, GBA, DS, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube and Wii game on it for 1-5$". With some good launch titles and 3rd party support, just for the access to the whole DS library digitally and for cheap, it could be worth a buy.

Re: Hyper Training, Six New Pokémon and More Announced for Sun and Moon

Piersen

Bottle caps? Seriously? First some weird VR balloon training and now this? Those weird things totally break immersion of what I'd do if I were a kid training a pet monster!

How about just some freakin' My DayCare, so instead of running around on a bike on a route back and forth - which is an ancient boring mechanic - you could buy equipment for the DayCare so the Pokemon have better environment, and that would raise the IVs of their eggs. You would prepare the Pokemon various food to set the nature of the eggs they make. Then you'd play a minigame and depending on your success, the Pokemon would then pop out more of better quality eggs. Another egg-heating minigame for quickly hatching the eggs en masse. Some NPCs would then adopt the fresh hatchlings you wouldn't want to keep, instead of coldheartedly releasing them, and you'd earn some money to buy better equipment for the daycare.

These things write themselves. But no. Bottle caps.

Re: Pokémon GO Has Finally Arrived in Canada

Piersen

@gefflt Guilty as charged. I'd find it funny if Pokemon Go came out, but with good choice of Pokemon available only in Japan and all other countries being filled with nothing but stereotypes. Imagine USA full of Snorlax and Nintendo being like "Hey, what's up?"

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th July (Europe)

Piersen

@roy130390 Haven't tried Monster Hunter multiplayer yet as AFAIK MH3U doesn't have online on 3DS.

I'm afraid of people online being like - "Noob, what are you doing? You're using the wrong weapon! You are supposed to go after the tail first, how don't you know that? Yada yada yada..." disconnects. So don't know, if the monsters are different in both, and both are worth playing, I might as well buy MH4U first, as it is cheaper...

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th July (Europe)

Piersen

So... a question for MH fans out there.

I first bought MH3U for my first 3DS. I stopped playing after repeatedly getting killed underwater by Lagiacrus in the early monster guts mission, due to terrible controls without a second circle pad.

Now, since I have a New 3DS, I tried to replay the game, and I love it.

So when I'm done with the game, should I get MH4U, Generations, or both, eventually?

Re: Outspoken Analyst Has A Good Feeling About The Nintendo NX

Piersen

A lot of it is speculations about NX, but there is nothing fundamentally wrong about what he says.

I personally don't care about FIFA, Battlefield, etc. 3rd party support as much as about support by Atlus, but it makes sense to cover that market if they want to move a lot of consoles.

Re: Weirdness: Somebody Has Gotten Pokémon FireRed to Work in Minecraft

Piersen

First emulators on any old phone and now this. And yet "emulating GBA games on a 3DS would take too much time from developers working on real current gen titles", if I remember what they said correctly. Virtual console is a joke. It looks like they practically want you to be a pirate if you want to play older games.

Re: Video: The Play Nintendo Show Makes Its YouTube Debut

Piersen

It could be the most entertaining thing in the Solar System (which it is not), and I still couldn't shake off that feel of just watching a commercial.

Meanwhile, Nintendo keeps flagging Youtube videos of genuine youtubers promoting their games for free. Go figure.

Re: Let Yacht Club Games Know What Game You'd Like Next

Piersen

Keep Plague Knight at least in a supporting role! Hee hee hee hee hee!

I'd certainly like for them to develop the Shovel Knight IP more. A brand new adventure for Shovel Knight and Shield Knight against a whole new evil group of knights. Maybe something like switching between Shovel and Shield to pass obstacles.

Re: Round Up: First Mighty No. 9 Reviews Suggest The Wait Hasn't Been Worth It

Piersen

I backed this and even though I'm sorry it didn't end up well, I would not say I wish I didn't back it. Kickstarting is about taking risk to help back something, that is kinda the point that it might not turn out well... Now we know how much we can trust in Inafune.

On the side, I just don't get the people who get off on the negativity this game gets. Yes it deserves it sure, but it's nothing to be happy about.

Re: First Impressions: Going Under the Gavel With Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice

Piersen

I'd like to see Great Ace Attorney localized before this.
I always liked the setting of the series - normal-like world, but full of wacky characters. From Phoenix's reactions, you could still see that those weird characters were considered weird even in universe. But now, this whole "Kurain is now a country and attorneys are illegal there" thing has me skeptical of the game at the moment...

It feels to me like they're trying to unify the universe with the localization. The Feys were totally not a clan of some fantasy channeler mikos native to Japan, because we're in California see? They were totally originally from this weird country, see? Eat your hamburgers Apollo.
