Nintendo Download: 14th July (Europe)

Nothing for me this week. Own all the discounted games.

And downloading a demo of a game I already own would be pointless. Another mistake from Nintendo releasing the Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard demos nearly 3 months too late.

People have no excuse now not to buy games like Stealth Inc. 2, Thomas Was Alone, The Swapper, Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut, etc. All great games and worth every cent of the €1.

I can't wait for the JACKPOT 777 review. Should be a slot of laughs.

Olli Olli is 80p and I have 99p on my 3DS. I know what to do. Aside from super cheap game there's not much else as I can't get into MH no matter how hard I try :/
Also Wii U users, please get Thomas Was Alone, it's such a good game.

Titan Attacks, Nova-111 and Thomas Was Alone are all fantastic. Get those if you haven't already.

I think Swapper will be a good one for 1€. I'll take that. Perhaps Thomas was Alone, too, although I really don't dig it's style.

So... a question for MH fans out there.

I first bought MH3U for my first 3DS. I stopped playing after repeatedly getting killed underwater by Lagiacrus in the early monster guts mission, due to terrible controls without a second circle pad.

Now, since I have a New 3DS, I tried to replay the game, and I love it.

So when I'm done with the game, should I get MH4U, Generations, or both, eventually?

Would we get gold coins for the bigger (circle) discounts?

wow Digital Curve games so cheap! I know they are good - excellent but why so cheap?

@cmk8 I think so yes. And damn, that's another thing I'll miss out on because I bought these well before My Nintendo was introduced.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE If you release a demo of a game at the same time as the full game, you risk losing hype sales. Given the supposed high number of SFZ discs entering the used market shortly after release, we could speculate that if the demo had been available a lot of those sales might not have happened.

Putting the demo out now allows those not initially sold on the game to try it and hopefully get won over.

Demos are always a nice option for prospective customers to have, and might have stopped some SFZ customers from getting burnt early on, but it makes sense to me for a developer to constantly experiment with the timing of demos.

Re. the Curve Digital discounts, I am crying thinking about how much I paid for Stealth Inc 2 and The Swapper at release compared to how little I have played them. I've now learnt my lesson with Indies - don't buy into the hype, wait for the inevitable discount. Only the truly great Indies hold their prices.

I would have voted for Disney Art Academy, but forgot it didn't matter that I'm getting it physically instead of download.

@gcunit The demo for SFZ is a double edged sword. Had it been around at launch it could have helped convince people to buy the game or it could have put people off with the controls.

Snap, there are Star Fox demos? Definitely downloading them; I definitely want to get Guard but am not 100% sold on Zero yet, so will be glad to be able to try it out first.

Stealth Inc. 2 is an ingenious 2p co-op puzzle metroidvania and it has a great level editor with online sharing.
The Swapper is a great-looking&sounding innovative puzzle platformer with a dark story and a fantastic ending.
Olli Olli is just plain fun and has a new online challenge every day!
Pumped BMX+ is another good stunt trick game, if you need a change from Olli Olli.
Thomas Was Alone is a quirky and interesting meta platformer and got a few good laughs out of me.
Lone Survivor is like a 2D Silent Hill, just as horrifying and deep story-wise but with added lifesim&adventure elements.
Ultratron is a crazy retro neon style twinstick arena shooter for 2 players.
Nova-111 is an interesting semi-roundbased game full of secrets.
All of them are worth more than the 1€/80p they ask for.
I'd pick all the Curve games up for that price if I hadn't already got them.

And Guacamelee as well.

Please don't let that Kemco RPG come to NA as the only 3DS game available for download this week (not including retail games).

Monster Hunter Generations single handedly makes this a very good week. I'll be grabbing OlliOlli too, for that price.

Would any of you recommend Titan Attacks for that price?

Do these indie games with 90% off still get the standard amount of gold coins? (e.g. 20 coins for £9.00 - £17.99 full price)

@r1chard Yes. You always get the Gold Coins based on the non-sale full RRP price. So by purchasing 5 of these Curve Digital Discounts for like £5 you can get 100 Gold Coins.

@cmk8 any eShop games have purchased on sale, I've got the gold coins based in the regular price. Unless these are permanent discounts, that might make a difference I suppose, but they don't seem to be.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Not that i disagree without you, but im one of those people who don't own zero yet. and i really wish Nintendo could release a demo before hand for both of those games. but on the other hand it well make me judge if i do want the game or not (although i have guard which i quite enjoy)

Could be Monsters Hunter Generations plus one or two discount games for me this week.

I got the gold coins with the BoxBoy discount too, but am a little sceptical they would be included this time - it devalues the currency as an incentive to buy AAA titles from the eShop. When the offers go live on Friday I'd be interested to hear whether people are getting gold coins with these purchases.

Wtf, a Star Fox Zero demo? Will this come to NA as well? I always wondered why such a controversial game, didn't get a demo - that fact alone made me suspicious enough too steer clear.
I'd love to give a try, and be convinced that I can manage the dual-screen + gyro-controls - which I still doubt, but hey, I'm willing to be convinced otherwise.

Star Fox Zero demo should of been at launch not after people ignored the game.

Why have they made the Starfox demo the training mode?It should be the opening level and boss,it's easy to get into and gives you a good feel for the controls.Plus it's addictive just chasing your high score on that level.I'm sure it would convince many who are on the fence to buy it.The training mode though,I hated it.If I had played that first,I would never have bought the game.

Monster Hunter Generations for me. It's my 2nd most wanted game of the year (my most wanted 2016 game was the recent Zero Time Dilemma)

@alasdair91 only three of the Curve games had a RRP > £9 which would net you 20 gold coins, the others at £7.99 earn 10 gold coins, so not quite 100 gold coins for £5 but a good deal nevertheless.

I really hope these Curve Digital sales come to America. I'd love to get Nova-111, Ultratron, and Titan Attacks (and maybe some of the others) for a buck each. Hopefully the Star Fox demos come over too.

@Piersen Monster Hunter is the kind of series in which the last entry is always the answer because of cooperative gameplay and more content.

Also, there's so much to do in just one game that unless you finish Generations and still want more content, I wouldn't recommend you getting MH4 U.

@roy130390 Haven't tried Monster Hunter multiplayer yet as AFAIK MH3U doesn't have online on 3DS.

I'm afraid of people online being like - "Noob, what are you doing? You're using the wrong weapon! You are supposed to go after the tail first, how don't you know that? Yada yada yada..." disconnects. So don't know, if the monsters are different in both, and both are worth playing, I might as well buy MH4U first, as it is cheaper...

At that price, Lone Surviror will be a must buy for me. Thomas was Alone seems quite interesting, too. Maybe OlliOlli, as some of you recommend it. Too many games!

I wish they released MH next year. Ive pumped hundreds of hours in MH4 and I am done with it for a while. I dont feel like playing for a bit. Im afraid however that if I wait too long there will be less people to play with and that is detrimental to me. I remember meeting many desperate low rank players trying to find someone in g-rank to help them. It was getting more difficult to find someone as time went by so people resorted getting help from "better" players instead of ones at their level. Made me sad.

But I guess its no use forcing myself into playing something. Its just MH might be the most favourite series of mine and I dont wanna "miss out" on it. sigh

@Piersen The online community is quite nice, and both games allow you to do missions on your own until you are comfortable to play with others. I also heard that the tutorials on this one are even better (the tutorials in the demo are quite nice) and that the difficulty scales even better than in the previous entries. It would also let you learn these new mechanics (hunting styles and hunter arts) wich I'm pretty sure they'll be necessary from now on.

In case you buy MH4U feel free to ask for help. I'm also quite a noob as well since I haven't got the time to play it enough, but I'd help with whatever I can.

I like OlliOlli more. I thought the courses were more exciting.
But Pumped BMX+ is good and different enough: it has very good physics and 3D graphics, but I don't like the style/presentation and music as much and I found the controls trickier to get into.

Will buy some (if not all) of those really cheap Wii U games.

Also heavily tempted by Mega Man X but already own it on PS2 (and original NTSC cart but is a bit finicky on Retron 5) plus at £7+ It's a bit steep.

Wish Capcom would do MMX sale on Wii U. It has better d-pad placement than 3DS.

It's going to be annoying when NoA doesn't do any kind of discount on the MM games.

If we get the SFZ demo, I'll probably try that. A demo really should have been available at launch. Nintendo doesn't seem to understand the purpose of a demo.

I would love it if games just became available as they were released instead of the dump download process. Maybe we'd get more games and at a muuuuuuch better pace that way.

@msvt we get the list on Mondays but the actual update on the eShop doesn't happen until Thursdays for some reason.
Completely agree with what you're saying as the way it's fed through at the moment it's like some weeks there is next to nothing and other weeks the opposite. It would make sense like you said to just put games on when they become available instead of it looking like certain weeks being pure droughts which in Europe tends to be 3 out of the 4 weeks each month mostly.

You guys don't plan to review Disney Art Academy? It's the only game listed with out any of the "we'll have a review for you soon" variants.
