We already know that Etrian Odyssey V is getting DLC that will enable FM sound, but that's not the only paid-for additional content coming to the game.
The dungeon-crawling 3DS adventure - due for release in Japan next month - is getting a raft of DLC, all priced at 300 Yen each and available from August 4th:
- New Adventurer 1 – makes your character look like a boy wearing a school uniform
- New Adventurer 2 – makes your character look like a girl wearing a sailor-style school uniform
- New Adventurer 3 – makes your character look like a girl wearing a sweater
- New Adventurer 4 – makes your character look like a Paladin from Etrian Odyssey I
- New Adventurer 5 – makes your character look like a Medic from Etrian Odyssey I
- Adventurer Training Plan – gives you access to a quest that makes it easier to level your characters
- Adventurer Good Luck Plan – gives you access to a quest that gives you lots of gold as a reward
The aforementioned FM Synthesis DLC will cost 800 Yen and is yet to be dated. A sixth "New Adventurer" pack is also coming, but its price and release date are still to be confirmed.
There's still no word on whether or not this title will be getting a western release, but seeing as previous instalments have been localised, there's reason to be hopeful.

i hope someone makes a fan translation for this
This all seems like dlc I can do without. Don't need help leveling or gold. Plus those outfits are pretty generic. Just the game please and the FM sound and I'll lock myself up for 2 months to play!
Got a feeling this will be Feburary of next year just like EO IV was in 2013. That actually gives me less then 2 months before Zelda!
I don't like this trend of "if you don't want to grind a lot, you can pay to ease the pain". Not a bit.
Do they usually announce a western version before the Japanese release? I'm a little concerned; I didn't realize the game releases so soon in Japan.
Well that's convenient, the only worthwhile one is the music DLC. I'm kinda relieved, not a fan of wasting money on DLC.
The FM Synthesis DLC is the only one that interests me. I rarely feel it's worth paying for a costume change. Plus, I've grinded in previous EO games, so I should be fine to do it on this game.
I don't know where all this confidence comes from, but I'm not worried about a western release date. I'm just THAT sure it is coming for us
@DarkCoolEdge I like it. It punishes those who can't handle the game or swallow their pride by going on Easy mode through their wallets.
That said, my wallet will be punished a lot harder than theirs...a soundtrack for $7 isn't really heavy for what I'm getting, though.
Hopefully the game's economy will be on par with that of the previous titles and not brutally abusive like SMTIV's, where money is so scarce that you have to choose between wasting away half your life to complete everything or get the grinding DLCs.
SMTIV has made me kinda wary of the addition of this sort of downloadable content, but then again Awakening had it as well and getting funds the regular way was a reasonable task.
@TheWPCTraveler To be honest, economy in EO games was never an issue for me besides the humble beginnings, where you're just getting yourself together and scraping poor materials for a handful of coins. So unless they drastically increase the amount of farming necessary to progress, I also see the DLC as an okay 'punishment' for people who won't even put forward that much of an effort.
Ok, so only cosmetic and grinding day one DLC. Not all that interested.
I'm not against actual more content-full DLC coming later, provided it wasn't cut from the game. Wouldn't entire DLC dungeons with extra post-game challenges be cool?
@Piersen yes I agree. post game content DLC all the way. The amount of post game content and the quality of it in EOIV was so good. I need more of that in my EO games.
@TheWPCTraveler I'm sorry but that's ridiculous.
