For those of you who are curious enough, you can type in the term 'daylight robbery' on Google, and the first image you see is the very same Nintendo Switch dock set shown above.
As an owner of a PlayStation 4 Pro, the additional under-the-hood performance is a welcome addition however, it is not something that makes me ignore other 'lesser' or more powerful platforms.
For me, the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch combo is as good as it gets and offers the best of both worlds.
2013 was full of promising optimism, especially with the last four months of the year dishing out The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and the majestic Super Mario 3D World.
2014 was arguably the greatest year for the Wii U; Bayonetta 2, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8 and gave us the best Super Smash Bros. yet! It was definitely a year to remember.
2015 gave us Splatoon and Super Mario Maker, two brilliant new games, then it all started to go swiftly downhill after the latter game was released.
I haven't bought a single game for my Wii U this year, which speaks volumes... especially from a big Nintendo fan like myself.
The Nintendo Switch looks like it is going to have an exciting launch window however, the real game begins once the excitement gradually peters out. Interesting times ahead.
"What this means is that prior, plausible rumours of an AMD-powered console with PS4-beating performance and utilising x86 architecture are erroneous. NX is smaller, leaner, portable - and yes, less powerful."
One part of me is like, 'Yay!' while the other part is feeling pretty ho-hum about the above quote...
It was much, much better than I ever expected it to be, and surprisingly so too after all the hoo-ha about The Legend of Zelda being the 'only thing there'.
@Superzone13 It appears that you haven't read the article properly...
I am very surprised to see SteamWorld Heist higher than SteamWorld Dig though! Perhaps it is because the former is newer and therefore is the first one that springs to mind?
Pullblox and BOXBOY! are my two personal favourites.
I was going to say 'hey, where's Rhythm Paradise Megamix?!', but then I no sooner wallowed in disappointment knowing that it won't be out until autumn or winter time.
😔
That was by far and away my favourite game in the Nintendo Direct the other day!
I'm a big fan of the Fire Emblem series however, six characters is three (or even four) characters too many.
I actually groaned out loud when I saw Corrin whereas I was pleased to see Bayonetta; a rather stark contrast between the two reveals.
I think Cloud should have been saved for last, but hey ho!
A real shame that Shovel Knight wasn't included, and the lack of variety with The Legend of Zelda characters is a bit of a damp squib.
All-in-all, Super Smash Bros. U has a pretty good roster that will keep us fans going for quite some time. A bit sad that these Smash Directs have come to end...
Seeing as British citizens never got Super Smash Bros. on the N64, I would be absolutely thrilled if the game was available on Virtual Console as soon as the Smash Direct comes to an end.
Anything else would be a nice bonus, although I hope it isn't just another re-reveal of Cloud and an outfit based on Geno. Will we see the results of the Smash Ballot that came about a little while ago?
Splatoon was the only game on my Wii U (this year) that was not only original, but it felt fresh and had a certain 'newness' that has been sorely missing from Nintendo for quite a long time.
Super Mario Maker is great however, the community and their ideas were not quite as great unfortunately. This should have been released on the Wii U on day one instead of New Super Mario Bros. U too.
Not a bad year, but not exactly the most compelling compared to 2013 and 2014 respectively. I am still patiently waiting for the new The Legend of Zelda!
Pleased to hear that this game is actually online - unlike the upcoming amiibo-based Animal Crossing, Mario 'Party' and Nintendo Land - yet it also makes me wonder why on earth it took so blooming long for this to be confirmed?!
The 3DS is far too weak to be able to 'do' Super Mario Maker without drastically changing things.
It might look like a simple game on the surface, but there's a lot of memory and system resources being used in being able to play so many handcrafted levels.
On the other hand, that yellow pixelated Mario Maker 3DS looks great!
All that he has said seems fair enough, but there is always an enormous gaping hole at Christmas time for Nintendo with the lack of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, Fallout 4, FIFA, Minecraft, Star Wars Battlefront and so and on.
Outside of Mario Tennis and Xenoblades, the latter of which is a pretty niche game here in the UK, there is nothing appealing about the Wii U this Christmas.
One might argue that Splatoon and Super Mario Maker is 'good enough' however, in reality, it doesn't much of a different at all.
The Wii U is £249 over here; a standalone Xbox One can be purchased for £279 and you can buy the Uncharted Collection PlayStation 4 bundle for £299.
TL;DR - what does Nintendo have to stand out of the crowd against those two this Christmas?
@IceClimbers PlayStation 4 sold a shy over 550,000 this time last September, which means sales are down 36% from last year. Destiny was - and still is - the biggest new IP release (in terms of sales and profit), ever.
Next month will be VERY interesting though; a $50 price cut for the PS4 versus Halo 5. Whoever 'wins' will eek out by a couple of thousands, if that.
The gap remains at approximately 865,000 between the two.
If Sony hold onto that by years end, or even manage to pass the one million mark, then Microsoft will have an incredibly tough time of it, especially with their biggest IP helping them out this holiday season.
As much as I enjoy reading articles, previews and reviews on Nintendo Life, it does have a tendency of scoring games higher than elsewhere.
Only Nintendo Enthusiast, Nintendo Life and Nintendo World Report (three Nintendo websites) have given the fifth Fatal Frame a seven or above, which isn't exactly inspiring.
Oh well; it looks like the second in the series continues to remain the best.
It's one of my favourite indie games in recent times.
It was also the very first digital game I purchased on my PlayStation 4 and it is genuinely laugh out loud funny in places, especially Octodad's totally oblivious wife and children regarding his 'appearance'.
The last two levels were quite a departure from the first half-a-dozen mess-around sandbox-ish levels, but it was a necessary change to bring the story to a conclusion, so to speak.
@leons2 There's more to life than waiting every six months for a new Nintendo game therefore this news is of consequence to the whole videogames industry, of which Nintendo just so happens to be in!
Star Fox Zero didn't look particularly inspiring at E3 this year and I am genuinely not surprised that it needed to be in the oven for a little bit longer.
It's probably the best decision in the long run, but I don't think this will be a particularly good Star Fox game; none of the videos yet shown looks to be much fun, in my opinion.
At least you can credit the developer for trying something new/original as opposed to yet another 'platforming action' game, which we already have an abundance of on the Wii U.
This sounds like my cuppa tea, and for £3.60, a game for the price of a pint, it's worth a try. The visuals alone pips my curiosity to play the game even more so!
Year Walk is one of the very best games on an iOS device alongside the likes of Monument Valley and Ridiculous Fishing and is an essential purchase for all Wii U owners.
I am surprised that it is only £6.29 after the recent Badlands game being £9.99, which is a little bit too expensive for me to buy a second time.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Enjoys Second Week At The Top Of The UK Charts
@Damo I meant seeing a top ten altogether.
I genuinely think that this is the first time I have seen you guys actually post a top ten on your weekly UK charts articles.
I don't know why you refuse to do this every week, regardless of whether a Nintendo game sits in the top ten or not!
Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Enjoys Second Week At The Top Of The UK Charts
It's about blooming time you guys decided to post the top ten!

Re: LEGO City: Undercover Sells Best on Switch in UK as Yo-kai Watch 2 Endures Poor Launch
Have we earned a temporary reprieve from "the UK has terrible taste in games" this week?
It's a well deserved success story for Atlus, and it is nice to see Breath of the Wild clinging on in the top ten too!
Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Wii U)
Not a bad swan song for the Wii U, hey?
Re: Feature: The Wii U's Journey - Four Years of Excellence, Failure and Indifference

Re: Pokémon Sun And Moon Sells Nearly 2 Million Copies In Three Days In Japan
This is the first bit of really good news for Nintendo this year, especially from a financial point of view.
It's Pokémon being Pokémon - it always does great business, and Sun and Moon are great games to boot too!
Re: The Famicom Mini Passed a Quarter of a Million Sales at Launch in Japan
At the equivalent of $55, I would hope it had sold a decent amount!
Looks like it will be a nice 'stocking filler' for new and old Nintendo fans alike.
Re: Rhythm Paradise Megamix Misses UK Charts in Quiet Week for Nintendo
The UK charts, from a Nintendo perspective, always makes for grim reading.

Re: Editorial: An Ode To The Wii U GamePad, Nintendo's Mad But Brilliant Controller
It's a little bit disappointing to realise that the best use of the GamePad were two launch titles; both Nintendo Land and ZombiU.
Whilst Super Mario Maker made the GamePad somewhat 'useful' again, it was a classic case of too little, too late.
I like the GamePad, but I won't be too sad to see it go.

Re: The Legend of Zelda for Wii U Will Be The Only Playable Nintendo Game at E3
Nintendo must either be extremely confident in this new Zelda game, or they are completely out of their minds.
Probably the latter.

This is terribly underwhelming news in all honesty.

Re: Talking Point: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS Set a Standard That'll Be Tough to Follow

Uninspiring news in all honesty!
Re: Nintendo Titles Get Pushed Down But Hold On to Top 40 in UK Charts
Poor Chibi Robo. I have nothing but fond memories of the GameCube game.
In other news, the timed exclusive (new) Tomb Raider game only sold a shy over 50,000 units on the Xbox One.
I don't know who is going to be more upset; Microsoft or Square Enix?
Re: Nintendo is Plotting a 'Miiverse Monster-a-thon' to Get You in the Halloween Mood

Fatal Frame V!
Re: The Wii U's Broad Audience Means Star Fox Zero's Delay Won't Matter, Says Nintendo UK
@fungusar You just so happen to be in a very, very tiny minority then, which is no bad thing to be fair.
The million selling games I listed are big gaps in the Wii U line-up this Christmas, whether you 'give a poopitypoopoop' about them or not.
Also, if you openly think those are 'teenage kind of games', then what are the kind of games you're playing? Kids ones?
It is all too easy to label things you don't particularly like, you know?

Silliest thing they have 'implemented' since the Friends Code made an unwelcome return from the original Wii to the Wii U.
