I have yet to buy a "Switch 2 edition", are they really worth the extra money, especially if you have to purchase DLC separately? Do the "QoL" enhancements really make that much of a difference in these games? Like @striker21 points out, Nintendo just seems to be "milking there fan base". I wonder how long it will be before we see "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Switch 2 Edition" (paid DLC not included).
Honestly a super fun game that does what Mario Party has not done in a very long time. This game will make you laugh. If this game were to get some sequels or some killer DLC boards it could become a house favorite.
I would rather see a Lego "legacy" collection for games like the Indiana Jones series or maybe the original Lego Star Wars games. The Batman series that was done on Wii and Wii U would be awesome. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens game that got "stuck" on Wii U and the 3DS would be an absolute buy for me. I don't really want to drop more money on the Lego games that already exist on a Switch system.
Not sure if asked or not. What are the specs for the SW1 version of the game being played on a SW2? Is it still the same as if it were played on a SW1 ?
So apparently my comment about the way a certain character acts when he gets up to the tee. The character's actions make it difficult to prepare the shot.
I hope that the Virtual Boy crashes and burns harder than the original system. WAFJ. Nintendo may have just opened its own grave with this Direct. I have never been more disappointed.
Nintendo please stop with the stupid and worthless Switch2 editions. You rode that pony into the ground after only 2 months.
I tried on Nintendo's site and Walmart, but after seeing the new price increases I have decided that the system, games and accessories are just to expensive for me to pursue the SW2 any further.
If you were able to purchase the games that are housed on NSO, would you truly own them or is it a digital license that they can delete your "purchases" at their whim? And is that situation really different from the current NSO business model. You pay for the "right/ability" to play these games and yet you know that if the servers get shut down you will access to them. So which is more costly/painful "owning" a few "single" games and having them taken away at any moment or paying a monthly fee for a couple hundred games knowing that at any moment those can also get taken away? Even though I own a few dozen games in digital only format, I know the risk involved. I do prefer a physical library over digital.
I have to agree with these posts that are talking about the $60 price being too high. $40 would have been a much better price especially for a game that is 14 years old. A Wii/Wii U "Classics Library" for $30-$40 would have done well on Switch.
@batmanbud2 I actually do not remember EVER giving these games a rating. And to be honest even if I did rate these at what they are showing than that would be my opinion. The fact that you do not agree with what is there and than claiming anything I say cannot be trusted? You DO NOT know me, nor do I care if you trust me.
Saying it will be released in 2025 is NOT a confirmation in my book. A solid date needs to be locked down, it's been 7 years already. I will bet it is going to be a dual system launch.
As a fan of this series for more than 40 years I have to say that they did an amazing job. At first there was a little bit of confusion with the "Old School" options. But I am telling you this is a solid convert and there needs to be more of this from the series.
I owned this for the original Playstation. I remember it being more of a pun type of game, making fun of FPS like Doom. It had, to me, dry humor much the same as "REDNECK RAMPAGE" was making fun of "DEER HUNTER". The frying pan as a weapon was so funny and awesome.
The way to "combat" slowing sales after the announcement is to turn the current switch into a retro game machine. There are 100's of thousands of titles they could throw at it over the years and they would have 2 streams of revenue.
Reading that headline and knowing the "type" of people that love this site, there is bound to be some of those special souls that are going to do just that. Lol. It's like telling your sibling not touch something.
This needs to happen more often. I love seeing a system getting new games long after the end-of-run. Companies like Nintendo could really benefit from people making games and after market accessories. Set up a more affordable license that would assure quality and keep everything legal. Just because a system is no longer supported by it's OEM doesn't mean that that system has to be lead to pasture. Let's embrace this more.
There seems to be a "nothing" swallowing the whole game industry right now. Too many people being laid-off, devs closing, publishers going under. What the heck is really going on? It's no wonder why Nintendo has put off bringing out a new system. The market/ industry seems like it is incapable of supporting another system. It feels like the big crash in the '80's. Scary.
@OctolingKing13 Of course it won't affect the amount you will receive for your games. They will still give you the standard 50 cents a game so that 10 mins after you leave they will sell it for $35
@zool I think that is a personal preference kind of question. My preference is 1 then 2. I never liked 3. By the time they got to 3 they had lost some of the vision.
This a game (and collection) I have been waiting for for some time. There is so much nostalgia in playing these games again. I liked the "visual flipping" between new and OG graphics. There are a few instances where the OG graphics were a necessity because of their extra brightness. It took me a little while to get used to the controls again, but it's like riding a bike, you never really forget. I have only dove into the first game so far (BTW that has always been my favorite out of the original 3). So my rating may change once those are played. I really hope for a physical of this at some point.
I just picked up GigaBash for the Nintendo Switch and I have to say it is better than I thought it would be. The controls a little out of place and there is some serious lag on certain stages, but it is still a super fun fighting game (I normally HATE fighting games). It feels like a revamp of "King of Monsters & Rampage" which good because it makes it feel comfortable and familiar.
Overall I give it a 7. Needs to balance the fighters a bit and get rid of the slightly disabling lag.
@BR1CK you won the exciting "Nintendo Life" home game. Have fun writing your own reviews and ****posting about anything and everything Nintendo. Roll the dice and do not pass GO. Oh, no you've been Blue Shelled.
What has to be realized is that this last incarnation of SSB was the swan song for the series. When it comes to the amount of fighters and stages nothing will ever really be able to top it. Fans will constantly be comparing any attempt to top this version. "It doesn't have this" or "why didn't they bring back character "X". There is going to have to be a complete over haul of the game to beat what is now. And when they do that, the fans are going to revolt. It's also why Nintendo held on to Mario Kart 8 for 8+ yrs. They are unsure how to top it. Some times rabid fans can KILL a beloved series by demanding TOO MUCH from it. A certain MOVIE series fan base comes to mind when I say that.
I really wish they'd stop calling a code in a box a physical copy. That is so seriously misleading. It's not a physical copy unless you can hold the game.
@MeloMan It's almost like they were run by DC Comics and Warner Bros. Those companies can't seem to get their heads out of their own butts. Sega is NOT fair behind them.
It really needs to become "Nintendo Kart" pull from the entire family of characters. Sort of a "Smash Bros." of the karting world. Maybe bring in some kind of boating or flying elements to change things up, via Diddy Kong Racing. Just imagine flying through the lands of Kid Icarus or Jet Skiing in the waters of Wave 64. There is some much that can be explored. The one thing they do not want to do though is bring in any stupid "micro transactions" or making players grind through "seasons". These are things that killed Chocobo Racing, Crash Team Racing, The Disney Racing game, whatever that was called.
I would like to see a more balanced weapon system. More short cuts / secret paths. Allow "track jumping" but only for the last 3 Karters, give them a secret edge. You know help the underdog out.
