Re: A Rare SNES SA1 Demo Cartridge Has Been Found And Preserved

Oyaji_Music

@Axelay71 Sorry I have been reading the setting wrong. In Image Filters when you go into settings (before you go into a game) there are a few options under this heading one of them reads as 2xSaI <--- but that "I" looks like a roman numeral 1. So I have been reading wrong, my bad. Though I will say if you play around with these particular Image Filters you will a vast improvement in the game. I will edit my post.

Re: A Rare SNES SA1 Demo Cartridge Has Been Found And Preserved

Oyaji_Music

interesting. the second demo showed some real promise as it looked like it could create areas very similar to the "bonus" stage in Sonic the Hedgehog, where the room spun around and Sonic bounced off of the walls trying to find the Chaos Gem. It's a shame Nintendo really didn't really do to much with this chip set. (edited note: I was under the impression that my Hyperkin Retron 5 ( Hyper Beach model (yes the one that looks like cotton candy, or so my daughter thinks) ) had an image Filter that was an Sa1 filter because it is labeled as 2xSaI <----- That "I" is a roman numeral 1, so therefore I was reading it as Sa1. I have been corrected so therefore I have corrected my post. Please excuse my stupidity. Though I will admit the Image Filters that are on the Hyperkin Retron 5 do have some amazing effects on the graphics and the way the are displayed. If you have an HR-5 do yourself a favor and play around with these settings. Out of the ones there I do prefer the one labeled as 2xSaI <----with that being a Roman 1.

Re: Former Metroid Prime Lead Designer Targeted With Abusive Messages

Oyaji_Music

What a laugh, "The Metroid community is better than this...." NO, NO they are not. It is not just the Metroid community though, it's every where, movies, music, EVERYTHING. This kind of action by keyboard warriors does not surprise any one, not a single soul. All you have to do is read the nasty comments and you will see the common trend. The Fanboy base is unhappy with "Product X" so they take to the internet and slam designers, producers, directors. It's always the same. You cannot expect better out of people without teaching them that what they do is wrong.

Re: Sega Will Start Selling NFTs Based On Its IPs This Summer

Oyaji_Music

Well for once I can honestly say thank you to the community for explaining something to an old cogger like me without being snide and nasty. I can say that I see why we are upset about the goings on behind the NFTs. And now that i have a little more of an education on these things I can develop a better opinion about them. Thank you the guys or gals that helped.

Re: Sega Will Start Selling NFTs Based On Its IPs This Summer

Oyaji_Music

@TryToBeHopeful how does a single NFT create that big of a carbon footprint? Wouldn't the average person who stores JPEGs on their HDDs have laid down billions of kgs of carbon by now. I don't get how a single digital image/ GIF is causing such an uproar on an enviromental level when most of the world has already put that to shame with the pics of our kids, dogs, cats, etc.. So can you explain how those numbers stack up against what the average person has in "storage".

Re: Free Super Mario Party Update Gives Massive Boost To Online Play

Oyaji_Music

The game is 3 years old and these features were need day one!
I question the #7 place sales position, I know not one person who has kept this game after buying it. And I honestly would chalk that up to these features not being a day one thing. I bought 2 copies of it for Christmas so that my daughter and I could play from our homes in different states. Within 10 minutes of opening the game and realizing that we could not actually play the whole game together we decided to sell the games. So how many of this "14 million sold" are still in the hands of the buyer?

Re: Video: Why Do We Buy And Collect Retro Video Games?

Oyaji_Music

Emulation is actually illegal without the proper copyright privileges. And yes old hardware does wear down eventually, but will last longer than using digital or cloud versions of a game. Now if you want to bring up system that can legally play old software look to companies like Hyperkin who make modern retro systems that play older games. You can also replace the batteries in most cart type games. As I stated I have a problem with digital and cloud games or games that rely on any type of "server" to hold the game, and again tose servers will be turned off long before the OG systems will die. It is without a shadow of a doubt better to collect real, physical games that it is to "collect" anything digital / cloud based. Besides you can trade/sell/buy physical copies you can't with digital. Its only yours until they turn it off or your hard drive crashes. I do appreciate your input on the matter, but I am happy with my choice for collecting in the physical rather than the digital.

Re: Video: Why Do We Buy And Collect Retro Video Games?

Oyaji_Music

When it comes down to it, for me, I would rather own a physical copy of a game retro or not. I figure it this way if I own the physical copy I can play that game anytime I want. If I own a digital copy I can play that game, especially if it an online "only" type game, until the servers go down or the drive on which the game is held fails. Nothing in the digital realm is forever, NOTHING.

Re: Nintendo Teases Mario Kart Tour's Brand-New City Course

Oyaji_Music

@AndyC_MK Seriously ? Nothing to back it up? Look at the list of the games.... Mario Kart SNES (#1), MK 64 (#2), MK Super Circuit GBA (#3), MK Double Dash GC (#4), MK DS (#5), MK Wii (#6), MK 7 3DS (#7), MK 8/Deluxe Wii U / Switch (#8), MK Tour (#9), MK Home Circuit (#10). And if you are still in denial You can look up a list of games in the Mario Kart series and you will see just what I am talking about. Besides where did the numbers for 7 & 8 come from if it wasn't for all of the other games?

Re: PAC-MAN 99: Tips, Tricks And Rules - Everything You Need To Know To Be PAC-ONE

Oyaji_Music

Having ranked #2 in a recent game I want to share the strategy that I use to rank quickly in a game - 1). come up with a set pattern for eating all of the dots on the board before eating any fruit. 2). The easiest way to do that is divide the board into 4 sections and eat the power pellets to get you from one to another. 3). When you get into the higher "ranks" during a round you may need to eat the fruit to get rid of the RED Pac Men, as fruits are the only way to get rid of them. 4). Remember that you can keep adding to that ghost "train/chain" so that when you do finally eat them you get a killer combo that will also help raise your ranking in that match. 5). I have NEVER EVER EVER used an attack in any match 6). Just have fun.

Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Has Been Delayed (Again)

Oyaji_Music

@HotGoomba IMO opinion TT is going to have to work twice as hard to re-hype this game when it is finally ready. When you delay a game as many times as this or Cyberpunk you tend to lose players' interest, I know mine is gone. And speaking of Cyberpunk that was the reason that they kept posting about delays, they were trying to keep the game in the minds of players

Re: Nintendo Thanks Fans For Celebrating Mario's 35th Anniversary

Oyaji_Music

JEEZ-US, everyone one of you sound like a bunch of whinny F***ing SNOWFLAKES. WAH they are taking away a game that sucks but because they are taking it away I am going to cry and pout and hold my breath until I get something, because I am part of the participation trophy snowflake generation <------- That is you all sound.

Re: New 4K Switch Model Could Launch For $399, Analysts Suggest

Oyaji_Music

Price is not the factor in making the jump to a pro as much as the following list of things : Backwards compatibility with current Switch games and accessories, Joy-Con drifting fixed, a slightly heftier body, an update to the over all design of the Joy-Con so that when used for games like Mario Galaxy it doesn't feel like your holding a pez candy dispenser.

Re: UK Charts: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Bounces Back As March 31st Withdrawal Looms

Oyaji_Music

ain't no reason to bitch and complain about this. The 3D collection is sub par and Nintendo pulling off the shelf will only benefit the world. Besides all of the scalpers out there need another Mario game that they can charge outrageous amounts of money for. here in the US scalpers were charging upwords of $300 for the craptastic Mariokart disaster with the RC car. Now there are several stores that reduced the price just to get rid of stock. Walmart sells it for $10off everyday. And the kid behind the counter says his store will not restock once they are gone.

Re: Nintendo Will Reportedly Reveal A New Switch Model This Year With "Bigger" Samsung OLED Display

Oyaji_Music

@BoFiS I really wouldn't mind some improvements to the system, especially the joycons. My problem with them "upgrading" the Switch is you end up like Microsoft with several version of your hardware out on the market and confusion for the customer. The new switch would have to be 100% compatible with the current on and any new games would either have to work on both or be made so as it only works on the Switch pro (i.e., 3DS cards vs DS cards).

Re: Nintendo Plugs Zelda: Skyward Sword HD With New "Button-Only" Control Scheme

Oyaji_Music

I can only hope that the game comes out better than the craptastic mess that was the 3D All Stars collection. The controls and the cameras in each of those games killed any enjoyment. I would have liked to have seen Nintendo rebuild each of those games from the ground up, just like they did with Link's Awakening. I have also found that the Mario 64 game is extremely glitchy. I have had all types of issues. So here is to hoping that Nintendo really gives this game the "Awakening" treatment.

Re: Random: Fans Take A Dig At Nintendo's Limited-Time Mario Antics With Blade Runner-Style Parody Video

Oyaji_Music

So it's okay for Limted Run, Strictly Limited, etc., etc. to sell you games that take months, sometimes a year to put out to market and be gone as soon as the production run is depleted, but it is not okay for Nintendo to do the same. They have been doing it for years with Amiibo so why not games. Sometimes I think the gaming community is full of a bunch of hypocrites. Soon long as you get your copy your cool with the practice. Don't slam Nintendo for doing what other companies do all the time.
