I've been on the fence about this game for a while, loved the original few Metroid games and Dread but overall not a series I follow closely. But hearing about the hand-holding companion NPC killed the excitement, and locked difficulty doesn't help. I'll see how the reviews look, maybe.
@LavaTwilight Hey buddy next time you want to act superior, put some thought into it. Pick up your switch joy cons and put them flat side down and grab them with buttons facing inward. The right joycon has buttons easily accessible to your thumb. The left joycon only has access to the stick. I'll take your apology now.
Such a strange array of emotionally driven comments. The lawsuit has nothing to do with character design similarities. It's about patents, and if Palworld creators did infringe on them that's a cut and dry case. It will (or will not) be proven in court and case closed.
I am loving Astro Bot. Coming from someone who grew up and loved Mario starting with the original SMB, I lost a lot of interest starting around 3D world / Odyssey, and can't really put my finger on it. To me Astro Bot has incredible production values and top notch level design (though I'm only about halfway through). I never thought of it as a Mario copy, I think it stands above.
I would love a remake of both, especial AoL as it's probably around #3 in my top Zelda games. But I think they would need difficulty options, because what made them difficult a lot of times were stiff controls. If they're replaced by modern movements, it would probably be quite easy. Harder difficulties would offset that.
I don't disagree but I think what the Wii did best compared to switch are how classic games are handled. I'd so gladly take the VC per-game purchase with a huge array of games over the weak switch subscription offering. How did the Wii do it so much better, and over ten years ago?
I remembered having more fun with it than I am now. As a remake it's great. It's just too easy, and would have been nice to have a hard mode added, since they put the effort into an easy mode.
I have no issue with the price, one of my most nostalgic and favorite rpgs on SNES aside from ff6 and secret of mana, getting a makeover? There's no way I'd pass on this.
@9-Volt wow absolutely not. Many games are abandoned without being fixed. Also when you pay $70 for a game that is released (not early access, etc), it absolutely needs to work. I don't buy a released game to play with their bugs.
I hate sounding negative but the trailer is silly. Just a mashup of labyrinth, legend and probably another 80s movie. It doesn't look like anything Zelda would be at all.
I don't get it honestly. If you don't like it then don't buy it. There, boycott lol. And people who don't mind spending the money can get it. Yay, choices.
I may try this again. I love rogue like games and metroidvania style games but this felt brutally difficult to me to the point I no longer felt I was making progress on each run to advance further. Maybe I was missing something.
Wish I shared the sentiment of others here. To me I feel like I bought a game I've already played thru 5 times. I'm not into sandbox games like Minecraft so the new "powers" Link has and their puzzles feel more like a chore than anything. I'm glad it's a success but maybe this is where I stop following the series.
People and their opinions of this game are depressing. I can't wait to have so much fun with this game for months if not years. Everyone else can keep being negative about everything
I'm really looking forward to it. I have no doubt nintendo has another fantastic game coming and they don't want to spoil it. I'm okay with that. I'll experience it first hand soon.
I feel like many developed hide their open beta behind a demo these days. Ignoring those, a true demo should really just be 30-60 minutes and not the in to the final game with save transfer. Otherwise you're not really a demo.
I think I have been lucky, my switch controllers haven't had the issue, at least yet. My PS5 original controller became unusable after about a year due to extreme drift though. I love both consoles but for me in more frustrated with Sony.
I've never been engrossed by a fire emblem story and have skipped the last couple entries because of it's greater story focus. The better gameplay experience described here might get me to pick it up after all.
I'm not a die hard fire emblem fan but enjoyed radiant dawn pretty well and fates maybe a bit less. Three houses was impossible to get into for me. The reviews for this have me interested as it seems to focus more on what I care about, combat, flexibility, etc. Never cared about the the stories in FE much.
@SonOfDracula I'm making my own using Memorial, mostly making it more difficult and remixing some abilities, monsters, adding new equipment and items, etc.
No, leave toon link in the past. I'm a bit biased though because the two DS games nearly ruined the series for me. Thankfully they returned to form after.

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Difficulty Settings Revealed By Nintendo
Something for everyone, unless hard is what you want, then it's a two-playthrough commitment.
Nope. I was already on the fence for this game, now I'm out. I have enough backlog to keep me going.

Re: Mini Review: Lumo 2 (Switch) - A Delightful Celebration Of British Retro Gaming
@RobertCorwen I was thinking the same! Weirdly while reading about this the game's theme popped into my head.
Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal
I paid more for my PS5 so I don't mind at all and still excited for S2. The games are expensive but not a deal breaker.

Re: New Nintendo Patent Seems To Confirm Mouse Functionality For Switch 2
If the idea is to use your thumb to hit buttons on the front face, I don't see how this will work for left handed people.
Re: Nintendo Patents Filed After Palworld's Release Suggest Lawsuit Prep Started Months Ago
So many apparent patent law experts on here, lol.

Re: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Finally Gets Release Date, I & II Remakes Confirmed
I wonder if they'll do 4, 5 and 6 later. 5 is my absolutely favorite.
Re: Talking Point: Would You Want Quality And Performance Options For Nintendo's 'Switch 2' Games?
More options = longer development time and contributes to rising prices in games.
Re: Poll: Is $60 Too Much For Nintendo's Switch Re-Releases?
A full remake like ttyd, Mario RPG, link's awakening I'm happy to pay full price for. A simple re-release, definitely not.
Re: Talking Point: What's Your Personal Favourite Super Mario Game?
Mario 2 on NES
Re: Talking Point: If 'Switch 2' Isn't Coming Until 2025, What's Nintendo Got Up Its Sleeve This Year?
I'd rather they hold off until next year and bring out all their releases on the new console to ensure the switch 2 is a full success.
Re: Random: It's Been Five Long Years Since Hollow Knight: Silksong Was Officially Announced
It's gotta just be a sequel at this point right?

Re: Braid: Anniversary Edition Coming To Nintendo Switch Next Year
I don't see a description of what is different on the anniversary edition

Re: Review: Mortal Kombat 1 - A Superb Fighter, But Severely Kompromised On Switch
Should not have been released on Switch. Was simply to reach a wider audience but it's incredibly deceptive to pretend it works well on the system.
Re: Contra: Operation Galuga Blasts Onto Switch In Early 2024
This looks like I'd rather play the NES original.

Re: Ubisoft Has Reportedly Cancelled Plans For An Immortals: Fenyx Rising Sequel
The first game was pretty fun, definitely not perfect and was hoping a sequel would clean it up a bit. Too bad.
Re: Feature: 21 Vintage Nintendo Games You Can Now Only Buy For Original Hardware
Oh man... Hogan's Alley was a great game!
Re: Soapbox: Modern Zelda Bosses Are Getting Harder, But They're Nothing Compared To The Oldies
Except for the final boss the TotK bosses were very easy. But they had great designs.
Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Busier Hyrule Is Making Me Miss BOTW
Great article. I do like TotK overall, but it feels like a lesser experience to me and I think this articulates my experience as well.
Re: Best Zelda Games Of All Time
Hard to pick a top 5 anymore lol. Ultimately will probably be BotW, ALBW, AoL, OoT and TotK.
Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Incredible Opening Is One Of Nintendo's Best
Great intro. Wish the rest of it was as good.

Re: Poll: What Other GameCube Title Deserves A '10/10' Remake Or Remaster?
I voted skies of arcadia. But I'd equally take thousand year door since I never played it.
Re: New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer Shows A Flying Vehicle And Fresh Details
I love how they're keeping so many details secret. I can't wait.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Deal With The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Switch Release?
@SonOfDracula I kind of did the opposite lol but also added a bunch of new stuff. Yeah it's a modding tool.

@SonOfDracula I'm making my own using Memorial, mostly making it more difficult and remixing some abilities, monsters, adding new equipment and items, etc.
Re: Talking Point: What's The Deal With The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Switch Release?
I got them on steam and have been having a lot of fun modding them in my spare time. Can't do that with switch so no reason for me to buy again.
Re: Talking Point: As Zelda: Wind Waker Turns 20, Doesn't Toon Link Deserve A Second Chance?
No, leave toon link in the past. I'm a bit biased though because the two DS games nearly ruined the series for me. Thankfully they returned to form after.
Re: Feature: "We Received Many Requests To Bring Back The Puzzle Bobble Series"
Zero interest. There are so many knock off games of puzzle bobble. Why don't they just bring back bubble bobble?
Re: Team Ninja Denies Ninja Gaiden & Dead Or Alive Reboot Rumours
They weren't denying it, just nothing they are ready to announce. I don't care about DoA at all but a new ninja gaiden would be awesome.
Re: Talking Point: Would You Prefer 'Super Mario Odyssey 2' Or A Totally New 3D Mario?
I really didn't care for Odyssey, and probably wouldn't even buy a sequel. I'd rather see galaxy 3 but mostly, something entirely new.
Re: Voice Of Mario Charles Martinet Thanks Fans For All The "Love And Kindness"
Is this still about Pratt doing the VA for Mario? Wow. I am almost impressed by the craziness. This is a movie not a video game lol
