Re: Sonic Mania Plus Arrives On Switch This Summer

OdnetninAges

I was at the panel, and the hype was real. It's great that Mighty and Ray are coming back to the games for the first time in years. Nobody saw this coming.

I already have Mania digitally, but I'll likely pick up the physical version instead of updating the digital version (they said pricing for the Plus content in the digital version will be discussed at a later date) because the goodies that come with the physical version look so good.

Re: Rumour: Sumo Digital's New Kart Racer Focuses Solely On Sonic And Friends

OdnetninAges

I'll say the same thing here that I said on the Sonic Stadium message boards:

I love the All-Stars series because it had great gameplay on top of really cool and diverse worlds and characters. When I first started playing these games, I thought it was awesome seeing stuff from Super Monkey Ball and Billy Hatcher get included, and I was introduced to series like NiGHTS and Virtua Fighter. I still want to try out Skies of Arcadia some day should it ever get a re-release, because Vyse seems like a cool character and the Rogue's Landing stage was excellent. (Plus I just love RPGs...) And now that I've played a lot more Sega games, I was really rooting for representation from stuff like Streets of Rage and Comix Zone, or even more modern stuff like Yakuza and Valkyria Chronicles, or even Puyo Puyo. (I know the Tennis game had a Puyo Pop Fever mini-game, but I mean character representation... Someone like Arle or Amitie would be cool to see playable.)

By making it Sonic only, I feel there would be a lot less variety in characters, stages, and music, and the game would just feel kind of bland compared to what came before. It's like if Super Smash Bros. 5 had only Mario characters, stages, and music. I'm sure this supposed Sumo-developed Sonic racing game will be fun and excellent in it's own right, but I'd always be thinking in the back of my mind "man, it sure would be cool if the Sega all-stars got in on this."

Re: Brawlout Has Passed 50k Sales on the Switch

The appeal of Smash for me is the crossover aspect. Seeing Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Pokemon, Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem, Pikmin, and Xenoblade characters and worlds (plus a whole lot more) come together in a celebration of Nintendo's past and future, with a handful of third-parties along for the ride.

Brawlout just seems boring by comparison. Indie Pogo looks more interesting to me...

Re: The Legend Of Dark Witch 3 Casts A Spell Over 3DS Next Week

OdnetninAges

I don't get the whole "I don't wanna play my 3DS anymore because of the Switch" argument, and never will. I'm able to go between the two just fine. I'd prefer games on the Switch, but it won't make me not play a game that's only on 3DS...

Anyway, this one has 3D huh? Awesome. I was wondering why the first two didn't have it, but it's kinda strange to implement 3D now when most have just stopped bothering with it. You'd think the first two would have 3D, and this one wouldn't.

Oh well. I'll enjoy it.

Re: Video: Mega Man 11’s Art Director Explains the New Look

Love it. It looks like what I think most people were hoping Mighty no. 9 would end up looking like.

8-Bit was cool with 9 and 10, but IMO it would have gotten kinda stale if they did it again. Plus it's been years since Mega Man has gotten a new game, so I think something a bit more grand than another 8-bit title (especially in an era where games like Shovel Knight and Mighty Gunvolt exist) is needed for his triumphant return.

Re: Poll: Have Your Say on the Best Main Series 3D Mario and Zelda Games

OdnetninAges

I will always be in the minority of people who just doesn't like Zelda that much.

I LOVED Breath of the Wild (and it was the 1st Zelda I finished), but that's mainly because it's so different compared to the past entries. (Voice acting, more focus on exploration and combat, etc.)

For the most part, the series just doesn't jive with me.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Gets Massive Update

OdnetninAges

Whenever I'm just about feeling burnt out on this game, they do an update like this that pulls me back in.

Sacred Stones (via 3DS Ambassador Program) was my first Fire Emblem game, so seeing Joshua and Lute get in makes me extremely happy, especially as I've been wanting them in Hereos. Their artwork is fantastic, too.

Re: Rumour: LEGO Dimensions Has Apparently Been Killed Off

OdnetninAges

This was a really cool game. I enjoyed seeing so many different fictional characters and worlds across different media crossing paths when they normally never would. Heck, they even were able to get the original voice actors for most of the characters!

Maybe it would have worked better as a standard Lego game rather than a toys-to-life one, but I'll always love the concept. If there's a sequel one day (that isn't free to play), I hope that they'll be able to incorporate Star Wars, since that was the franchise that really kicked off the Lego video game series.

Re: New Story Trailer For Apollo Justice On 3DS Reveals Release Dates For North America & Europe

OdnetninAges

I'm very thankful that they are finally putting Apollo Justice on the 3DS eShop. Better late than never, and the upgraded graphics look great. I borrowed and finished the DS version from a friend so I could have the story context for Dual Destinies onward, but I'll probably pick this version up in an inevitable sale later down the line.

And yeah, I know it's disappointing that Dai Gyakuten Saiban 1 and 2 have yet to be localized, but the reality is Capcom doesn't seem to want to bring them over. I really hope they change their minds someday though, as I would really like more new Ace Attorney games.
