Bandai Namco's release of One Piece Unlimited World Red - Deluxe Edition in Japan wasn't met by much enthusiasm, but the company is still trying to give the enhanced edition - on Switch and PS4 - a push.
Now an updated trailer compares the Switch version with the Wii U and 3DS equivalents. It states that when docked the Switch is outputting at 1080p with 60FPS (720p with 60FPS in handheld) while the Wii U was 720p/30FPS. Check it out below.
It's a reminder of how some games do see notable improvement on Nintendo's latest system, and helps to partially explain (along with sales momentum) why re-releases of last-gen games that skipped Wii U - such as Resident Evil Revelations 2 and L.A. Noire - are set to make their mark on Switch.

One Piece Unlimited World Red - Deluxe Edition is out later this month on 29th September; are you tempted?

dat sexy framerate.
Smooth
Funny how they don't use PS4/Xbox One for this comparison. Are they afraid it'll undermine people buying the Switch version?
Is this a musou-only type of game?
Don't show this to the Wii U diehards
They still believe the switch doesnt offer more power.
I own both 3DS and Switch versions. Still worth the money.
@Tsurii thanks for the answer
Its an impressive game on the 3DS, the fact that it even runs on that system is amazing. But on the Switch it's just OK. There are better games to play.
Okay so that sheds a little more light on the, "Switch vs. WiiU power" debacle. So it can play WiiU games with an enhanced framerate and resolution. So that means games natively developed on Switch should look quite a bit better running at 720p/30fps than the WiiU editions of games. I can't wait to see the un announced exclusives the Switch has in store for 2018 and beyond.
3DS version looks very impressive tbh, but the Switch version does look much better than Wii U.
@UmniKnight : I take it that you're not familiar with how marketing works.
@sillygostly By all means, enlighten me. They usually tend to put comparisons between PS4/Xbox One and Switch, but I guess that would be unfavourable in this case, hence why they're doing it this way?
Also just for the record, my first comment wasn't meant as a jab at the Switch, but rather surprise on my end, as this isn't how they usually do comparisons.
@janfritz y tho?
I really don't know what to think of this game. I'll wait for a review.
How is this game compared to the two Wii games?
I just recently got the 3ds version (since I don't have a Switch). I haven't played it yet, but watching that video got me excited!
Will this come to the west?
Thomas, if you could tell me if save data is transferable from 3DS or Wii U, that'd be great. I've been tweeting at people for weeks, including Namco themselves.
@BetterThanVegas I think if data could be transferable (which I imagine would have been 3DS only), they would have already announced that a long time ago.
@SKTTR much less fun than the Wii games, alas.
Nop, sitting this one out.
I got this for 7.99 digital for the Vita on a PSN sale (got the PS3 for 9.99 to play cross save). The price tag depends how much you like the anime, what systems you own and if new to you. I liked it... If they do a part 2 ill get it on the Switch.
@UmniKnight It's probably just because they thought it made sense to compare Nintendo consoles to each other. :shrugs:
Guess it depends if they have an even better version on ps4 or not.
@Coderie I'd think it's because that's where the true "upgrade" lies, since 3DS is weaker than Wii-U and Wii-U is weaker than Switch, so you can really see how much better you're getting on Switch, so doing "selling" you that version.
I got the original on 3DS and Wii U, and it is actually what got me to watch the anime. I really really like this game!
I won't get it a third time though, sorry Bandai Namco!
@Qwertyninty Yea 29th of september i believe
As a die hard One Piece fan (watching the anime, buying figures and played all One Piece pirate warrior games to platinum) I am still in doubt if I should buy this one. Doesnt look like much replay value to me but who knows, I might buy it sooner than later...If Mario was not coming out a month later I would mabye bought it right away
@Kaizoku yeah never watched the show and not really sure what the game is but I like what I see.
Texture detail seems higher to me on the Switch as well, though that could also be due to the capture.
@kobashi100 Right, but you might as well not show this at all because, let the switch fanboys tell it, performance doesn't matter yet, here we are! All while ignoring so many of the ",well it doesn't matter because the switch is a portable handheld anyway". I guess that goes out the window now.
@Qwertyninty I can highly recommend watching the anime, its truly amazing!!! It has 800+ episodes already but i have been watching it for 9 years now
Or just watch some summary videos on Youtube to get a idea of the story and the charachters lol ^^
Actually the video just made me want the 3DS version which I've started to get it a couple of times and passed it up but I didn't realize how good it looked on the 3DS.
