The film and television division of the third-party video game giant Ubisoft is reportedly working on a number of animated series "inspired by" its existing IP. Ubisoft Film & Television Paris managing director Helene Juguet informed The Hollywood Reporter that each show would have a different target audience and format.
One is a family-friendly comedy-adventure that takes inspiration from the Rayman series and another is Hungry Shark Squad - based on the Hungry Shark game. For slightly older viewers, Ubisoft has a "cybermystery" in the works that draws on the "themes and ideas" of Watch Dogs but has no direct ties to the universe.
Ubisoft is also teaming up with Netflix's Castlevania producer Adi Shankar for the young adult series based on the Far Cry 3 expansion Blood Dragon and to create a "multiverse" with other Ubisoft games.

Rayman cartoon that's a comedy adventure? I'm all on board with that one!
@Sunsy - Watch as the ratings plummet after the first season, forcing them to make one more childish for much younger audiences.
And the internet will complain of such a travesty that transpired.
Anyone else remember when ubisoftbwas supposed to release their animation tools to the public? I do...

That was about 8 years ago, they've sense canceled giving it to us and I've been bitter ever since. You can't even find this article normally anymore its been archived though.
So instead of actually getting a proper Rayman cartoon, we're getting something that's "inspired" by the franchise?? So outraged because I read "rayman" and "cartoon" in the same sentence and nearly squealed. Now I'm so disappointed that I created a NintendoLife account just to say this.
@Twi Welcome to the site, if nothing else. 😃
As long as a show means the game franchise has a prominent future.
After the very short lived Rayman animated series from... I think 2000 and how... improper it was, I hope this turns out well.
Surprised they didn't push for a Rabbids cartoon series for a quick cash in.
@Twi Inspired could mean done in a similar fashion to the series, or based on it while being different. I think of the old Sonic Sat AM cartoon. To me, it's inspired by the games, but went in its own direction and wasn't based on any specific game. Going to be remain positive.
Also, welcome to the site!
Last year, they also announced that they're making a Child of Light TV show and a Werewolves Within movie. As well, there's an upcoming Division Movie which they announced they are working with Netflix for.
@Sunsy Thank you! But the concept art doesn't show Rayman at all, so my fear is the only resemblance to the series will just be the world and character design. Just kinda got my hopes down, but hopefully it will be great in its own way!
Red Steel 2 and Brothers In Arms!!
Brawlhalla doea have a rather endless array of characters.
Assassin’s Creed: The Animated series could be fun.
Already had a rabbid cartoon.
Starlink could probably work, but still would probably only succeed if they get Nintendo to keep loaning them Fox.
That's great but we're still waiting for a sequel to Rayman Legends, one of the best 2D platformers ever made.
Expectations are suitably low...
Hopefully it will be on brand with Ubisoft as an open world experience stuffed with lootboxes and paid DLC.
But will Rayman be able to say "the caar"?
I’m surprised it isn’t more Tom Clancy adaptations, given how they milked his name for all it’s worth.
TV series based on the universes of FarCry and Watchdogs sounds awful. The appeal of those games is the sandbox, not the cliche narratives.
When I played Starlink - Battle for Atlas I thought that would be perfect as a TV series. I would watch it!
The question is: how will they put microtransactions into this? 🤔
@Quarth Hahaha was just thinking the same thing
read the article. it's not a Rayman cartoon, it's a Rayman "inspired" cartoon.
What happened to the Mario one that was supposedly in the works? It's gone very quiet on that front.
@Dezzy we need a new 3D Rayman first
Sounds cool if done well. I wondered if they would make a show to accompany the new Beyond Good and Evil considering the breadth and scope of the game.
@PBandSmelly A cartoon based on a kids game will be aimed at kids? How very dare they!
Hmm, will it be quality (the Rayman series)? Pobably not, but we'll see!
