have all the platforms but i've been leaning to get it on switch 2. i've been doing alot of pick up an play lately an the S2 has been a godsend in that regard. that an i want to use gyro. the procon 2 has been one of the better pads i've used so gyro with it would be great for me.
maybe i'll get it for pc down the line but despite the performance issues, S2 seems to be a better pick for me atm.
@TerribleTerabytes i never said i was bad at the game.
whats stopping anyone from playing it....is that we don't want to.
if the open world was meant for training...why do we not have training options to enhance that. Open world is a sandbox playground. Theres not much to play there.
mario kart has always done different things. the problem is that its deviated so far, it isn't mario kart.
trying to tell me 'i'm wrong do this' is not the answer. thats the worst way to go about it.
Crossworlds feels safe. Theres just not really much there. No real game changing gimmick, its just a casual kart racer. its fun an feels good to control but there isn't any real hook for the game for the long term. all stars had the crossovers galore an transformed had that with changing tracks. TSR had the fun team mechanic but was very buggy and the tracks was bland. Only real thing crossworlds has going for it is the second lap of a track will never be the same as the track itself. The game is definitely fun, its just...lacking?
@TerribleTerabytes okay i've been reading through all the comments an yours keeps popping up that makes me go "ugh".
There is something very extreme about MK World that you're just ignoring.
MK World appeals to a different demographic than what all mario karts before it appealed to. I'm one of those people that honestly loves the thought of improving. I'm always trying to improve in a game because its just really fun to me. You'd think MK World would then appeal to me but it doesn't. I actually can't stand world personally. I waited for a new mario kart for over a decade because i was day 1 with 8 on wii u. i've played all the mario karts an loved my time with every single one of them. i've played endless hours of it by myself an with friends alike. we still play all of them as we feel like it. except world. we just did not like world. we really liked it at first but it didn't take but the span of a few hours for all of that to disappear (except the music, god that ost is godlike.) because the racing part disappeared an the chaos disappeared. idk about you but every single race, the item usage plays out the exact same way to the point that people are playing around the expectancy of being hit with a map wide attack at a very specific point. I have two friends left who play the game who casually practice the tricking. Both agree its not mario kart.
Its BMX kart time trials.
thats fine but thats not mario kart. its not appealing to the demographic of mario kart fans. its appealing to an entirely different demographic. an personally, the open world should not have even existed. why did we even need that, its mario kart. this isn't need for speed or burnout. Mario kart is a party game. flat out. its always had room for skill but its also equally had chaos to make sure everyone had a chance. none of that is here, especially on the competitive level. its all controlled an thats where i draw the line with it lol. so i probably just won't touch it again unless i'm asked to. the last time i was asked was 5 months ago.
@BulkSlash 200cc is in crossworlds. just have to beat all the cups at 150cc.
i'm firmly in the camp that mario kart world should have just been a different IP entirely. I just do not see the game as mario kart. its just aimed at an entirely different crowd an just was not for me. i'd rather actually drive on the course an master handling at high speeds than bmx on a car. all of my friends an myself quit that game in a week. something we have never did for any mario kart.
sonic crossworlds is honestly more mario kart than mario kart itself atm lol. it honestly is just an incredibly good game an somehow is always a rush when playing online. something i haven't really felt since wii u mario kart 8. sega really did just nail it.
between sonic an kirby, i'm extremely set racing wise. i have zero use for world and i honestly regret buying it.
honestly gears 5 was my first thought when i saw the direct. i'm hoping its not anything like that, it was completely pointless to have any of those open world segments in gears 5. myself and everyone i know hated it. it served no purpose unlike the vehicle levels in previous gears.
the motion controls just did not work for me. many times i tried to just go forward and i swear i did the quickest 180 i ever did and it refused to let me turn around.
it was fun when it worked. but it worked far less than it didn't
@OldGamer999 not trying to defend randy or anything cause the 30fps was definitely a deal breaker for me on switch 2 an may just get it elsewhere.
but crossplay has absolutely nothing to do with framerate lol. what he meant was he didn't want to cut content so to keep that, its going to need more processing power an thats gonna lower framerate.
I doubt you want an inferior version just for more frames.
@VoidofLight thats alright, i say bro to my friends that are girls too.
its not a spoiler. its just a "hey this is when you can expect this." because fun fact. chapter 5 was supposed to release with 3 an 4. just didn't go as planned. its not some kind of mind bending narrative. its an ETA.
got it on ps5 at launch an just could not finish that game for the life of me. was bored out of my mind.
since it released on xbox, been trying to finish it there. holding a little better since i know what i was getting into but man. absolutely no way i'm going to even consider it for another platform. its just...i hope SE isn't expecting much. this one just isn't it. its combat just is far too...much of nothing.
got mine pretty smoothly oddly enough. i went for the normal one when they went up, waited in line ten mins an had it all done by 18 after.
my best friend was struggling an freaking out because he had waited a half hour for the bundle so i suggested he try just the system an he had it within 5 mins.
that bundle is being the death kneel to the websites i'm sure but i'm happy i at least have the system reserved an so is my friend.
Splat 1 is still the best in the series. They wasn't afraid to test out all things with the level design an the levels wasn't claustrophobic, the weapons was great, the specials was fun, they didn't forsake range, verticality was a constant thing, the GYRO WORKED WELL, ranked mode WORKED because you had to actually work for your rank and it placed you fairly WITHOUT RESETS... the list literally just goes on.
what made splatoon so good just isn't there anymore. all of my friends, myself included, have just completely lost interest. its sad. we love splatoon but it just isn't what it used to be.
@gamingxaidan kinda...? its the same genre but this is far more arcadey like. The genre staples are there but its a different game entirely. may want to dial in expectations. especially with all the bad choices they've made.
So many reasonable takes in here, its nice to see. Seriously. Rare replay runs on the current X/S systems, just get one of those. rare hasn't been a nintendo second party in 22 years. its absolutely insane this is still happening, why is it such a terrible thing to have an xbox for something you want.
@HeadPirate you have an incredible voice of reason.
@McBurn all it said was "consoles" on early access reveal and since only ever mentioned switch by name. PS an Xbox was never mentioned. There was no promise there man.
Not that it can't come down the line at a later date but as of now thats all thats been said.
Just like in botw, the dungeons in totk was the weakest thing for me in this game. I just don't like 4-5 renditions of the same puzzle in the span of 40 mins an call it a day a "dungeon".
Now the complete rest of the game wouldn't let me walk away.
I got it on xbox physical. will probably get it digital on xbox down the line so i can include the series S if i go anywhere.
waiting for a reason to have it on the switch as well.
edit: ugh...just woke up from a nap. my sentences need fixing.
the fact nintendo got rid of it to not reduce prices is really what bothers me. If it wasn't for that, I would've never got prime 1 and I never would've pushed so hard for prime 2 and got it day 1.
I really don't mind if its "butchered" or not, its still a physical copy of the game.
@YoshiAngemon i've played both but own the genesis ver
@Specter_of-the_OLED nobody would really disagree with how it handled but that didn't really stop any of us. Don't know anybody that had trouble using it but none of us would say it was ideal. The allure of "what does this do" was too strong xD
@BloodNinja Its not all that shocking honestly. Metroid was never all that popular in japan. Its survived because of the west. the Prime series exist entirely because of this.
not to say it doesn't have a following in japan, its just so much bigger outside it.

Re: Opinion: Sonic Racing Crossworlds > Mario Kart World, And It's Not Even Close For Me
@KoopaTheGamer thats fair. the sense of speed in sonic games is usually when you're turning if anything. the arcade factor xD
