Sonic the Hedgehog is 30 this year and to celebrate his original game is getting a release on the Tesla.
Yes, that's right - Sega has announced a partnership with the electric car company to offer the original Sonic video game outing as in-car entertainment on the Tesla Arcade platform.
Get ready, Sonic fans! SEGA has just announced a partnership with Tesla to bring Sonic the Hedgehog 1, the game that started it all, to Tesla’s in-car gaming console for both existing and new models. Passengers turn into players as they race at lightning speed across classic zones to defeat enemies on a mission to save the world from the evil Dr. Eggman, all in the comfort of their own car!
SEGA is excited to partner with Tesla to bring this iconic Sonic title to their extensive gaming library. Sonic the Hedgehog 1 will be available in all Tesla models around the world via the built-in display screen in conjunction with a handheld controller connected through the car’s USB ports. Now no matter where you travel, Sonic can come along with you!
If you don't own a Tesla, there's no need to worry - as the original Sonic game is already available on multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch.
What do you make this announcement? Tell us down below.

I would say they should replace Robotnik with Elon Musk but he’d probably call Sonic a pedo for rescuing those animals.
So they're including video games, a very attention grabbing hobby, in a device where distraction could result in loss of life? Brilliant idea!
Can't wait to run into all the vehicles and free the bunnies inside!
@Bolt_Strike I don't think you understand how Tesla's work...
Gotta go fast?
Funny how the original Sonic can come to Teslas, but the amazing Christian Whitehead remakes on mobile can't come to consoles?
@Irfann No, gotta go the speed limit.
@Irfann @Bolt_Strike

HAHAHA, this game is so F***KING fun it makes me want to merge without looking
Could any Tesla owners chime in? Isn't the intent of games on the dash meant only for playtime during a lengthy recharging session, since charging isn't as quick as filling up on fuel?
I’ll stick with my Switch + car mount, thanks.
How much mileage (no pun intended ) do they expect children to get out of a lo-fi game like Sonic in this day and age?
And it’s almost shocking that Nintendo themselves are yet to (that I know of) produce their own car mounts for the Switch, or perhaps even a car headrest with an in-built Switch (with USB ports for wired controllers).
Do we even know if these are accessible from the driver's seat? It would make a lot more sense if only passengers could access the games.
@Silly_G Doubly so when such a mount was advertised in the Switch reveal trailer. Whatever happened to that?
@Bolt_Strike : Right? You’d think that HORI would have been all over this by now, but they’ve produced nothing (again, that I know of).
I bought some no-name brand one that trembles like hell and I wouldn’t trust keeping the Switch in it. Not my main one anyway.
@Bolt_Strike I own a Tesla and there is no way you can drive and play. Not even the passenger. Not even YouTube or Netflix.
Get informed before making claim like that.
@d-slice I own a M3 and that's pretty much it. As soon you put the car to in Drive the whole entertainment system closes and become inaccessible. That includes games, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ and some other dumb useless features they added in (like making fart sounds coming out from the exterior of your car)
@alexybubble Even the passenger cant access the entertainment.
See detailed message above
Sonic game on a Tesla, ha now the name Mega Drive actually make sense. Now you're mega driving with blast processing.
Sounds like a great way to get in a wreck
still probably one of the worst ideas in modern times.
@d-slice Yeah, they are meant purely as a little cool extra to do while sitting in parked or charging your Tesla while on the run. The screen they use is pretty damn nice so the games look pretty good lol.
@Nalverus You can't play it or access it at all if your not in parked.
@blindsquarel Can only be played in parked...
@coolioam so why not just play your switch if you are parked for that long.
@d-slice
That’s correct. You can only play the games when parked.
@Blackrosewaifu9000
Tesla has sold over a million vehicles and they’re selling over 200K vehicles a quarter these days. Lots of people can play this version.
@Silly_G
Teslas have more than just Sonic to play. There’s also Stardew Valley, Cuphead and a bunch of other games.
@RushDawg : I’d consider those to be far more newsworthy than Sonic 1 of all games.
This should be forbidden on the Main Console.
@Silly_G
They all had news stories about them when they came to Teslas years ago. Sonic 1 is just getting coverage because it’s the latest game being added.
@nessisonett Damn, that was good. High five!
@CactusMan
You can play Carmageddon IN a Tesla though, just with irl consequences! Seriously though, this is redundant if you have a Switch/phone/3DS/PSP or Vita. Which gamer has a Tesla but none of those devices?
If I were to play Sonic 1 or Cuphead, where would I play them?
Probably not here.
If you drive a Tesla whilst playing Sonic the Hedgehog, you better make sure you got Progressive Auto Insurance
(Not an ad placement, just pointing out Sonic promoted an insurance company).
Why not virtua racing?
This is an even bigger waste than Elon Musk himself.
Waste of money. Tesla could be using that money to implement more safety features in the vehicles, not some game everyone has.
