Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance?

NIN10DOXD

@B_Lindz I am cautiously optimistic in that I think this is the last time they are doing this. I think the Episode Aigis DLC is Persona 3 Reload is proof that they are switching to a DLC model going forward instead of more rereleases. It would make logistical sense in that they won't have to print and ship more physical copies.

Re: Metroid Prime 4 Development Updates Seemingly Discovered

NIN10DOXD

@huupawel Zelda has ran circles around Metroid in sales. The best selling Metroid games before Dread reached 3 million were Prime and the original which both sold around 2.8 million. The only Zelda game that sold that many copies or fewer was TriForce Heroes and The Minish Cap which are both infamous for being considered commercial bombs even with the latter now being considered a cult classic. Even when Zelda's popularity dwindled for most of the 200s and 2010s it still sold around 4 million almost every time with that being considered a failure compared to Ocarina and Twilight Princess. Metroid has never come close to that kind of success, but Dread could be positive sign of a momentum shift.

@RadioHedgeFund I don't know. They did it with Zelda twice and that's an actual system seller whereas Metroid mostly sells to a specific hardcore fan base. It doesn't really sell systems like Zelda does. It would be awesome if it was exclusive to new hardware so it wasn't held back by the Switch of course.

Re: E3 Has Been Cancelled, Permanently

NIN10DOXD

@abbyhitter The only problem is that the Game Awards are very bloated and not interesting whatsoever. I think the true successor is the things like Nintendo Direct and State of Play. Rather than truly dying, E3 became fractured amongst many online events because the old format was outdated.

Re: Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Brings Some Platform Puzzling To Switch Next February

NIN10DOXD

Usually when something is announced that I don't care for, I just move on, but this somehow actively made the direct worse. This is the biggest waste of resources imaginable. Imagine sitting in a meeting where someone had the bright idea to take Mario vs Donkey Kong and remake it from the ground up for Switch. Who asked for this? Who even asked for the sequels? I mane this game is better than it's sequels, but still. Why? It could've just been put on NSO. If they wanted a quick and cheap remake, I'm sure there were plenty more worthy games from their catalog than Mario vs Donkey Kong. This Direct was fine, but this announcement somehow lowers it into bad territory. They really thought it was necessary to tease and open pre-orders for this in September when it drops in February. For the stale butterless toast of a game that is Mario vs Donkey Kong. I can't imagine the person behind this decision having a job by March of next year.

Re: Charles Martinet Will No Longer Be The Voice Of Mario

NIN10DOXD

@PtM It seemed like he was getting pretty burnt out from the role. Time is catching up, his voice is changing, and yet the Mario machine keeps chugging. He absolutely love it though and he's still an ambassador, but I think he knew when it was time to retire. At least this way he can advise his successor rather than keeping the role until his death. That could've made the search a new Mario a little harder on Nintendo and harder for the new actor to fill those massive brown work boots.
