As is now the norm the Switch eShop's release slate for each week typically comes in a couple of batches. Beyond the usual Thursday update we also get retail and download-only titles earlier in the week, and as we've done in recent times we're giving you a reminder of what's out today. After all, we all need to budget and plan our purchases on the eShop.
This Tuesday brings four new arrivals, with a couple of download games making their presence felt along with retail titles. They're all live now or due by the end of the day depending on your region, so let's get to it.
Sonic Forces (SEGA) - $39.99USD / £34.99
The long-awaited next entry in the 3D Sonic series, drawing ideas from the likes of Generations and Colors. In this one there are wisp powers once again, and in addition you also create and control your own avatar characters in some stages. Reviews have been relatively thin online, which tells you how distribution of press copies went down, but we're reviewing right now and will bring you our thoughts on it as soon as possible.
Farming Simulator: Nintendo Switch Edition(Focus Home Interactive) - $49.99USD / £37.99
While it's easy to dismiss a humble farming sim, this series is surprisingly popular. Farming Simulator 17 attracted a whopping one million players within the first month of its launch. Even the German Chancellor Angela Merkel can't get enough of ploughing virtual fields. If that's your thing, this may be worth a look.
Heroes of the Monkey Tavern (Monkey Stories) - $9.99USD / £8.99
This one picks up the style of old-school first-person dungeon crawlers, with a mix of classes, enemies, puzzles and plenty of combat to tackle. This is no doubt tempting for fans of the seminal Dungeon Master, and despite its modest appearance does a good job with the throwback gameplay; we gave it a recommendation in our Heroes of the Monkey Tavern review.
UNO (Ubisoft) - $9.99USD / £7.99
No, that's not a typo, it is a Ubisoft game, and considering the fact that the company's version of Monopoly costs a slightly ludicrous $39.99USD / £29.99 on the Switch, this is at least reasonably priced. This spin on the card game includes online play and various customisation options to switch things up.
Those are the latest Switch eShop arrivals - will you be buying any of these?

Seem nice
As long as sonic is good, I'll be happy.
Forcing Sonic Forces! Sorry, I just wanted to make a silly statement to fit in with the cool kids.
Mrs. Merkel probably needs a simple and relaxing game to get it out of her mind that she's now the only leader of the free world not trying to stop independence by force or trying to nuke another country just for kicks.
Meanwhile, as a regular gamer I wonder why nobody has questioned in over 20 years the fact that Sonic is blue. Makes no sense.
I've already been hearing bad things about Sonic. But we shall see. I will read the review at the very least.
@GC-161 What does the leader of Germany have to do with anything here?
After watching some Sonic Forces gameplay, it doesn't look that bad... it's just not worth the asking price on any platform. Will wait till real cheap which hopefully won't take long.
Good luck, SEGA.
@Heavyarms55 "What does the leader of Germany have to do with anything here?"
Read the damn article. It's not very long, breh.
@MagicEmperor
No need to force that joke on us! XD
@GC-161 Urm does Theresa May, the UK Prime Minister, not also count here? She is actively trying to pursue independence, from the EU no less, and as far as I am aware is not promoting war. What am I missing? Or are you thinking that the USA and Spain are the only other nations of the free world?
@RadioShadow Oh, my! The Force was strong with your response.
Played it a lot over the weekend. Is pretty good, though the story is overly serious and not so fitting. Tons of content though! And surprisingly a lot of customisation with clothes (even some splatoon inspired inkings) for your avatar. Fanfic dreams ahoy.
@GC-161 He's constantly on the verge of dying from hyperthermia. That's why he's gotta go fast.
In fairness to Uno and Monopoly comparrison, Monopoly game does have a lot more to it with modes, additions, 6 player online and local while Uno is super basic.
Nice surprise release though.
@Shufty I just wonder why nobody questioned why Sonic is BLUE.
Has anyone not seen a hedgehog irl? Ok, I haven't seen one in real life, but I'm pretty sure those critters are NOT blue.
I know that questioning such a thing is like several decades too late.
But newer generations of gamers are probably asking that question. Whenever they realize Sonic is actually suppose to be based on a real animal.
I've seen some gameplay on Sonic Forces... the level design is so lifeless, levels are so short and the game can apparently be beaten from 3-5 hours
Not sure why Farming Simulator gets so much hate (not here, I mean elsewhere), it looks good. Not my kind of thing personally but if Stardew Valley can be so popular, why not?
@Drac_Mazoku I'm with you on that one. Am certain Sonic Forces will be a blast and will be ignoring many of the negative reviews.
See that meteor in the distance? That's the impending disaster waiting to happen when the review embargo is lifted shortly for Sonic Forces.
Though I heard SEGA refused to send out review copies(make of that what you will) so they may trickle out slowly.

The Farming Simulator looks like the best of the lot. Price is a bit high though.
Man, that Polygon review was brutal.
However, reading it makes me think the reviewer was really hoping Sonic Forces could be an exploration game were you could leisurely wonder around the maps looking for trinkets. And not a fast paced platformer.
When you bring baggage into a review, that happens. Disappointment happens.
Farming Simulator for me!
I’ve been planning on getting Uno since day one! Thanks Ubisoft! Who needs Mario Odyssey. (Sarcasm)
My son loves tractors, so I plan to get a physical copy if Farming Simulator soon.
I'm also a fan of simulation games too.
Why am I weirdly tempted by Uno and Farming Simulator? Obviously I'd try the latter as a cart first. My backlog is ridiculous as it is, I've got Doom and Skyrim pre-ordered and eshop games I haven't even got round to buying. Yet I'm tempted....
Thought about sonic on switch. Saw DF's video on youtube. Not buying it now.
Sonic is never my thing. Won't spend my money on this one while waiting for Skyrim and LA Noir
Oh and a SD Card...
I just passed the 600 moon mark in Odyssey, so I think I feel ok taking a break and digging into some of my back log before coming back to it and I might even consider picking up something new this week. Oddly enough, I had zero interest in Farming Simulator until I saw the trailer on the eShop. I don’t know why I’m so curious now, but if the reviews are good I might be persuaded to buy.
@FragRed it's £25 on Amazon. How much cheaper do you want a retail game on launch day?!
FYI - Shadow skin and Shadow story DLC are available as free downloads on the eShop. Shadow skin says it's only available until November 20th.
@MagicEmperor
The force is strong with you.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Actually, there is no review embargo on Forces, because there was no review copies. That's how Polygon was able to review the game a couple days early.
It's just a matter of getting the game, and a lot of stores broke the street date.
@ThomasBW84 UNO is on the NA eShop, too! $9.99.
@flapjack-ashley $12.49 in Canada.
I'm very tempted to get Farming Simulator. I wonder if the physical cart comes with a straw hat?
I made the last minute decision to get Sonic Forces on PS4 instead of Switch. I’m just not ready to take Mario Odyssey out of my console yet, and I’d rather have the better running and looking version of Sonic.
@GC-161 Okay fair enough. I skimmed over that part.
Pretty eager to play Forces, even if reviews don't pan out too well. I just want to play a Sonic game that takes itself a little more seriously for a change.
Just noticed Uno on the Eshop. I remember pkaying the actual card game iRL with some friends. Had a lot of fun. Wonder of the online play, with the added modes and rules, would be just as fun?
