I don't really understand how Sega has so much nostalgia and goodwill. From my point of view as a xennial gamer who grew up during the first great console war, Sega is a company that had one 5 year bright spot surrounded by literal decades of shooting themselves in the foot over and over again. I could never trust them to find their butts with both hands.

Sega is the absolute king of false promises.

@nocdaes The director doesn't have the best track record, but he's never made any outright garbage, and his last movie was the surprisingly good Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie outgrossed all 3 Sonic movies COMBINED, both domestically and internationally. None of Sega's IPs have the cultural cachet of Nintendo's.

@WoomyNNYes These are Capcom games for the NES. Quackshot was a Genesis game developed and published by Sega.

@RupeeClock Most Steam games don't have a way to swap the button labels in the menu, and automatically recognize 8bitdo controllers as Xbox controllers. So when you're playing it with a Nintendo style button label, the game flips A/B and X/Y in the menus and HUD. After awhile, you can get used to it, but it's confusing in the heat of the moment.

All the more reason to stick to 8bitdo.

I don't want a remake. They'd butcher it like they did with FF7.

Yeah, I call *****. I certainly understand that supplies are limited early, but there is NO WAY they didn't know how well the system would sell. Not saying they could have supplied it any faster, just that they prefer the look of being unable to keep up with demand.

@The_Nintend_Pedant Yes the GameCube controller works well for games designed for it.

That doesn't make it a well designed controller. It's uncomfortable and barely better than an N64 controller.

@The_Nintend_Pedant Because standard controllers still work well for GameCube games. Why buy a controller for only one set of games on a system? The GameCube controller belongs in the past.

I again extoll the virtues of Episode I - Battle for Naboo. Just a fantastic underrated gem. If you love the Rogue Squadron games, you'll love it.

@betterman Maybe not an entirely accurate term in the case of the Gamecube controller, but generally, controllers have 2 sets of shoulders buttons: bumpers on top, triggers on bottom. I was complaining about it having only one set of shoulder buttons, because no, I don't count the worthless z button.

@-wc- D-pad is trash, c-stick is a woeful excuse for a second stick, z-button is cramp inducing, lack of triggers is limiting, and the face button layout is terrible. Not lining up 2 buttons with the angle of the thumb is one of the dumbest things Nintendo has done with semi-regularity. There's a reason the 4 button SNES layout is still the industry standard. And the giant A WIN button is made for people who can only button mash.

Just the most overrated controller ever made. It's the N64 controller with a good PR guy.

No, but only because I switched (no pun intended) to full digital this generation. I like having carts, but digital downloads are just so convenient.

Steam Deck is not a Switch competitor. Steam's primary platform is PC. They made the Steam Deck as another option for people who already game there. I would be SHOCKED if there's anyone who bought a Steam Deck that didn't already have a Steam account. Hell, I can't find a number online higher than 4m units sold. They barely market the thing. It is not their bread and butter. It could fail and they wouldn't care. I will never understand why anyone compares the two.

I wish they would put some effort into it outside the stupid microtransaction mode.

I miss historic sim mode.

I hope they consider remastering Fallout 3 & New Vegas. I never cared for TES.

You clearly haven't played the game since launch. While the penchant of developers fixing the barn doors after the horses have already escaped is frustrating, Cyberpunk 2077 is a much better game now than 5 years ago. CDProjektRed have done fantastic job in fixing the game.

I'm not buy right away, but I understand this isn't about screwing anyone over. Especially with the D***head-in-Chief in the White House.

Well, Nintendo isn't competing with PlayStation. PlayStation seems to want to fight wars with nobody.

@Tibob Midway owned NFL Blitz, and EA bought the license when Midway went under. They made one game in the series in 2012, and nobody liked it because the NFL threw a hissy fit about the violence. They haven't touched it since.

They're both terrible.
